- Other Noteworthy Stuff
- User:Nikki/LexemeInterwikiLinks.js, is a userscript that adds Wiktionary interwiki links in the sidebar on Lexeme pages. (It links to pages corresponding to the first lemma and puts the lexeme language's Wiktionary first, followed by languages in the user's Babel box).
- User:Lucas Werkmeister/addStatementCountsToCategories.js, is a userscript that shows the number of statements of the linked item for all pages in a category.
- Shared Citations, a proposal arising from the WikiCite project, for a central reference management database supporting all Wikimedia projects, with significant relationship to Wikidata. Seeking feedback.
- Modèle:Indice de diversité de genre (Template:Gender diversity index) is a new template in the French Wikipedia which use P21 (gender property) to count the number of people by gender mentioned in an article. It helps to find articles which "forget" to cite women.
- Lexeme JSON dumps are now available as a collection of individual lexeme data in the regular JSON format, separate from the regular Wikidata dumps containing Items and Properties. phab:T264883
- We found a way to improve the performance of scrolling on the Item page by changing how we move the Property labels as you scroll through the page. You should see the effect after the next deployment.
- BBC Things includes links to Wikidata to provide a single reference for the growing collection of entities that matter to the BBC and their audiences.

File deletion
Hello Christian, could you please take a look at this deletion request? I have nominated the file a week ago and the case is clear. Chem Sim 2001 (talk) 20:58, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
- Already done by Leyo. Christian Ferrer (talk) 06:44, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
- Ah yes, but can you take a look at this deletion request then? I think the reasons for deletion in this case are clear as well. Chem Sim 2001 (talk) 08:13, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for your help! Regards, Chem Sim 2001 (talk) 15:18, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I found another image 1 that is clearly just a photoshopped picture of this image 2 74.104.130.117 07:18, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Found another one 3 4 clearly stolen from this site. 5 74.104.130.117 07:32, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for the notifications. I deleted the first image because though the web version is more recent it is also a higher resolution (and less photoshopped) of the same photo (same shadow and light, same gunstock). I did not deleted the second photo because it don't looks to be the same photo. Christian Ferrer (talk) 08:33, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
The 2nd picture is a photoshop taken from a website. Here's another example 6 7 8 74.104.130.117 16:53, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- This is not the same gun, the wood of the gunstock is not identical, thus this is not the same photo. I nominated it with a regular deletion request. Christian Ferrer (talk) 19:34, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Hello Christian, I have found two file which are ready to get deleted:

Hi, you recently deleted a file and it has been uploaded again. I nominated it for deletion, but now I realise speedy deletion is the most appropriate procedure in this case. How should I proceed, once I have already nominated it for ordinary deletion? Thanks a lot. Awikimate (talk) 15:48, 2 March 2021 (UTC).
- Hi, thanks you for the notification, I deleted the files. Yes for the files that have been already deleted or for the new files tagued as "own work" and you found a prior non free publication in the web you can use Copyvio, but if you already made a regular DR it's not a big issue, the main one being that the files have been detected. Note that to tag several files at the same time, either for speedy deletion of for regular deletion, you can use Help:VisualFileChange.js, and in case of regular deletion it is also more easy for the administrators as all the files are in the same DR. Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 17:49, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hello again. Because you deleted the file, would you mind dealing with it once more? It has been uploaded here? Thanks a lot. Awikimate (talk) 16:32, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
DRs
Hi. In 2019 I DR'ed several files from Category:Erica Nicoli for being FB files. One of them, Commons:Deletion requests/File:Erica Nicoli (1452377964589).jpg was closed by you and a couple of them by admin Gbawden, all as delete. Now I see an SPA has added several images to the same cat; of course I do not remember, after two years, how the images looked like. Still, I have a feeling that maybe one or the other of the deleted files came back to the cat. Can you have a look? Thanks in advance. --E4024 (talk) 17:25, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
- I checked Special:DeletedContributions/Falesia66, and not a single have been recreated (or at least is not currently in the category). I've also added 2 images to the category. Christian Ferrer (talk) 18:33, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
Fan de politique
Hello,
Christian Ferrer (talk) 04:22, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

Image deletion
Dear Mr Ferrer, thank you for reviewing our draft! :)
You have deleted some of the images we have uploaded so I would like to communicate their purpose and source with you. Listed below there are photos that are owned by us (Elaphe Propulsion Technologies) and we believe are appropriate to be shared on Wiki.
File:Elaphe logo.jpg -> Original image by Elaphe. It is communicating our visual identity and how people can remember us (with a philosophy around "the wheels", "turning things around".
File:Elaphe 1.jpg -> The picture with founders and their first motor "Elaphe 1", communicating the history component and the progress we have done (how the design is totally different than on Elaphe-motor-family.jpg.
File:Elaphe-motor-family.jpg -> Original image by Elaphe, visually representing the scope of our in-wheel motors. The picture contains some data (educational topic).
File:AnyConv.com winding - Copy.jpg -> Original image by Elaphe, educating users about our unique winding of the motors. Also, a motor close up is seen. AnyConv.com used - converting the image from .jfif to .jpg.
File:Elaphe motor components.webp -> Original image by Elaphe. Elaphe is one of the few companies having a totally different motor structure (external rotor, internal stator). This photo is representing how the motor is assembled.
File:Collage Elaphe.jpg -> Original image by Elaphe. Commercial topic - collage showing our focuses, activities - all in one image.
File:Audi R8 with Elaphe's in-wheel powertrain - accelerating to 100,02 km-h in 3,540 s..jpg -> Original image by Elaphe. This Audi X6 on the photo is converted by our in-wheel motors. There is also data about its acceleration on the photo, uplifting the important data showing the market differentiation.
Please let me know your thoughts on the written. We will be more than happy to answer any of your questions.

- Hi, I'm not editor in English Wikipedia, thus I can't review your draft. The files you uploaded were stored in the project called Wikimedia Commons, and I deleted the images because the copyright holder is Elaphe Propulsion Technologies http://in-wheel.com/en/ . An official authorization from the company must be sent to our permission system. The local relevant policies are com:Licensing and com:Scope, note also that the media files must "be realistically useful for an educational purpose". Bonjour Christian,
Merci ! :) FredD (talk) 17:54, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

Dear Christian,
I hope you are healthy and safe. Thank you so much for taking the time to review my materials and for your feedback. I am a little confused as what is the difference between Wikipedia Commons ("The Wikimedia Commons" https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Tafer_Hotels_%26_Resorts#Deleted_content) where I seemed to have landed and English Wikipedia English Wikipedia where I am guessing you are suggesting I go to. But no need to elaborate as I am only interested in preparing a Wiki article similar to what, for example, Hilton Hotels has (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hilton_Hotels_%26_Resorts)
Could you simply point me in the right direction? Both main pages, Wikipedia Commons and Wikipedia English seem so alike that I am not even sure that I understand your message. As I said, could you just copy/paste the correct link where I need to go? Or, if you have a minute to spare, a three step bullets?
I know busy you must be dealing with newbies like myself. I appreciate your time.
All the best

- Hello, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia for the articles and Wikimedia Commons is a media file repository where you upload almost all medias used in Wikipedia (excepted the Non-free content). I am not very proficient nor in charge of Wikipedia but I deleted, here in Wikimedia Commons, the images that you uploaded because they have been already published in the web or elsewhere without the compatible licenses. The relevant policies are com:Scope and com:Licensing. Such content can only uploaded if permissions are sent to our permission system by the legitimate copyright holder(s) of the logos and photos.

Dear Christian
Actually I am Chloe Wary, Ouarior is my pseudo (« ouari » = phonetic of « Wary » and « or » it’s a word game with « Warrior ». Please get back the images because this wiki page about me really needs it.

- Hello, no I can't. 2 images are book covers, the 2 others are photo taken from the web. There are issues for the copyrights, publication here implies permission for commercial reuse, which can only be given by the copyright holder(s). Our relevant policies are com:Scope and com:Licensing. For the photos coming from the web, the sources must have compatible licenses, otherwise the copyright holder must send a permission to our permission system. Same thing for the book covers, the permissions must be sent by the copyright holder (even if it is you). Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 21:43, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Christian, I hope you're doing great!
Could you please revdeleted the two revisions of February 24, 2018 and May 3, 2018 on the File:LocationSerbiaInEurope.png? The problem is, beside the overwrite, that I used a complete different map and that I do not know which one it was exactly, so I cannot give attribution to the original one.

La Défense FOP cases
Hi Christian, it looks like you closed some DRs as "delete per nomination" where none of the participants actually advocated deletion: e.g. Commons:Deletion requests/File:La Défense 2012-03-03.jpg and Commons:Deletion requests/File:La Défense at night, June 2014.jpg. Could you please reopen them? -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 03:22, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, no I can't, however I clarified the rationale within the DRs. Christian Ferrer (talk) 04:13, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
- It is not the job of the closer to evaluate whether an exception to COM:FOP such as COM:DM is met for a particular image; that is a highly subjective judgment which is the job of the participants. The job of the closer should simply be to evaluate whether the arguments are based in policy. And here a majority have favored keeping the image based on DM, with there being no strong argument presented as to why DM is not met. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 03:23, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
- I always considered that the job of the closer was especially to evaluate if a deletion is justified or not, not that my job was to count the votes within a kind of contest, neither that the DRs are that kind of contest where a few "keep" votes can potentially surpass the copyright laws. In the files I deleted I don't think that the architecture is DM of below ToO, and FoP in France dont allow Commercial reuse, therefore there are potential copyright issues and a deletion is justified. The deleted files are similar to Commons:Deletion requests/File:La Défense, Paris April 2012.jpg not yet deleted, I wonder how it is possible to consider the architecture DM, or below ToO, and if this is me who close that DR, I will very likely close it as deleted too. And as regard to let potentially some room to discussion, the files have aleardy been deleted within another DR, restored at UDR, and then nominated again for deletion since now 8 month. Apart to undelete the files, thing I don't understand the reason, and therefore that I will not do, I don't understand what you wait from me. Maybe you should avoid to nominate for deletion the files that you believe should be kept, especially when the files have already been deleted and undeleted. Christian Ferrer (talk) 04:45, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
- The original batch DR was overturned at UDR for procedural reasons, so renomination was a precondition for undeleting the images. And the closer's job is to count any vote that represents a reasonable interpretation of copyright law, not to impose your own interpretation on the participants. If you want to do that, you should be participating in the DRs rather than closing them. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 01:39, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
- Regarding the big number of files I deleted since I'm administrator, and the small number of issues I had with those deletions, and seeing our current discussion, I conclude more that if I want to avoid potential troubles I should maybe avoid to close DRs opened by you. But this is not going to happen, and without searching those DRs opened by you I'm not going to try to avoid them. I go reguliraly in Commons:Deletion requests/2020/08, and in similar pages, in order to close old DRs. I'm sorry for that but be aware that if I think I have to close those DRs as deleted, I will do it. If you're not happy with one particular deletion, I suggest you to go to UDR, and if either the file(s) is(are) again undeleted, this time don't nominate it(them) again for deletion. Christian Ferrer (talk) 05:50, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

Pictures published yesterday
Hello Christian
As you can see I am a new user around here and I am facing problems not only to understand what I can publish or not, but also having problems in establish a proper communication with Wikipedia and its administrators.
Basically I don't know where to ask and how to find proper tutorials.
Those pictures that I published yesterday, as far as I know, they have more than 70 years, most of than already in public domain and able to be published based on a fair use.
My purpose here is to learn how can I contribute with Wikipedia to preserve memories, events and facts.
I appreciate your concern and waiting for some help with those questions. Sorry for write here, but I have no other choice, since I really don't know where I can ask those things. Best regards Felipe Scama
- @Felipe Scama: Hello, I moved your message from my user page to my user talk page, as talk pages are the right plces to write messages to other users, not in the user pages.
We don't accept fair use in Wikimedia Commons, and the CC licenses the you put on the files were bogus, only the copyright holder can do such a thing, see Commons:Scope and Commons: Licensing. Also that an artwork have more than 70 years is not sufficient to say that it is in the public domain. Many country gives a protection for 70 years after the death of the creator, that means that in almost cases you have to identify the author, the year, the country, and often also the year of publication. Note that you can also ask help or for informations in various places such as e.g. Help:Contents or Commons:Village pump/Copyright. Hope that help. Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 20:53, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Speedydelete request
Hello Christian, I hope you are doing great!
I just requested a speedydelete on this file: File:Compass Card (hr).svg. The problem with it is, it is a derivative work made out of another commons file, but I really do not remember which one it was, so the source is unknown. Could you please take a look at it? I will probably create a new one and there is already a replacement file that could be used for the hr.wiki-template.
Best regards, Koreanovsky (talk) 09:47, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Koreanovsky: maybe the source was this one? Christian Ferrer (talk) 11:57, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- I am really not sure, but I see that the German version is a public domain. Do you know what would be the best to do in this case? Best regards, Koreanovsky (talk) 12:28, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- I added the source, I think it's ok now, but at worst we can still postpone PD-simple. Christian Ferrer (talk) 13:17, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you very much! Do we need to change something about the licence? --Koreanovsky (talk) 15:13, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- No that's fine IMO, in the extand the source is PD, you had the possibility to use the license of your choice. As you used a cc-by-sa-4.0, I reinstalled it, but if you want to use a less restrictive license tag, such as PD-self, Cc-zero it's fine too. PD-simple seems fine too. As you want. Christian Ferrer (talk) 16:18, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for your help! Best regards, Koreanovsky (talk) 11:56, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
