A question

Hi, Christian. Thanks for closing the discussion. According to this discussion, I can upload Category:Kamil Özdemir Tolon|Kamil Tolon's portrait as a free file instead of fair use? Am I right? Thanks in advance. --Kadı (talk) 07:44, 4 March 2022 (UTC)

  • Copyright on old photos is sometimes a difficult subject. At first view if the other images meet the same criterion then that should be OK. But honestly if I asked and followed the opinion of Carl this is because I'm not sure of anything here. So, yes a priori, but I'm not categorical. Sorry for not being able to help more. Christian Ferrer (talk) 12:14, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
Merci pour votre réponse. :) Kadı (talk) 21:29, 4 March 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Sarax tiomanensis (10.5852-ejt.2021.772.1505) Figure 126.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Voting on my nominations at FPC

I propose to highlight your voting pattern, but wish to give you a chance to explain yourself first. Charlesjsharp (talk) 08:42, 3 April 2022 (UTC)

  • My understanding of the english langage don't allow me to understand literally what you wrote above but I think I understand the overall meaning. You are not happy because I oppose some of your nominations at FPC, and you would want to get on me some pressure in the purpose that I don't, do you? That is failed. One thing is true, I am not retaining (and not going to retain) myself to votes "oppose" on your nominations, each time I oppose a reason is given though apprently you don't really care about those reasons. Your abbility to yourself not retaining yours "oppose" votes made me think that you were someone able to accept criticism yourself, apparently I was wrong. And this fact highlight more things about you than about me. If you want to highlight this thing even more that will be your choice, as you want. If you don't want opposition(s) on your nominations, I suggest you to restrict you to post your images where votes of other humans aren't required. Christian Ferrer (talk) 09:02, 3 April 2022 (UTC)

What to do with such a recidivist?

It's the third time we need to flag a copyright violation on Pascal.mussard's discussion page, about a french singer that seems to be part of his family (same name : Mussard). What's next?

El Comandante (talk) 11:09, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

Well, he's still active on the French Wikipedia, so he can come back here to upload another picture of his son... El Comandante (talk) 22:31, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

FP?

Hello Christian,

IMHO this photo which you recently have nominated as a QI would be an interesting FP canidate, too. I guess some people may oppose because of “noise”; I would not (IMHO a little bit of noise is much better than a big stew of mush caused by excessive noise reduction ;–). And other people may oppose due to the “ghosts” (blurry people), so I do not know if the photo will pass. But nevertheless you should try it: the light is so beautiful …

Best, --Aristeas (talk) 10:05, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

Hello Christian, yes, these photos are really beautiful, too. You have made a whole lot of excellent photos during that event. I am looking forward for the FP candidates ;–). All the best, --Aristeas (talk) 18:03, 19 April 2022 (UTC)
