Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Quick note about galleries

I am currently moving the images that you wished to be renamed. Having the images in one big gallery like that really slows down renaming processes, and is a little problematic (takes a long time for the tools to make the edits, especially repeatedly). If you need to build image galleries, it would be preferable if you could build further, smaller subpages, and then nest them back together for transclusion. Kategorisierung von Bildern des IUSY Festivals 2011

Moin,

kannst du mir erklären, warum du meine selber erstellten Bilder vom IUSY Festival 2011 am Attersee in die versteckte Kategorie Files from SPÖ Presse und Kommunikation stream geschoben hast? Die sind ja nicht von SPÖ-Fotografen gemacht worden. Ich hege keine Antipathie gegen meine GenossInnen aus Österreich, aber mein Bild bleibt mein Bild! ;-) Oder verstehe ichd a gerade was falsch? Wozu soll diese Kategorie bitte gut sein? Die Kategorie "needing check" hatte ich nicht gesetzt und die Anzahl der vorhandenen Bilder wird über den Denkmalbaustein festgestellt. Autopatrolled-Rechte habe ich auch selbst. Wenn Du einen Fehler findest, darfst Du ihn natürlich (fast) jederzeit gern korrigieren, aber ich glaube nicht, dass ich Deine Bestätigung brauche, wenn ich es geschafft habe, ein Bild hochzuladen. --Ailura (talk) 07:32, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Die Kategorie beschreibt, wofür sie gut sein soll. Ursprünglich dachte, ich, dass das Wegmachen von Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Austria needing check reicht, wenn alle über den Upload Wizard hochladen (der setzt die Kategorie automatisch). Da dies aber offensichtlich nicht von allen so als Vorteil gesehen wird, und gerade bei den PoweruploaderInnen mangels Zeit für das einzelne Bild öfter mal zu unklaren Zuordnungen führt (da meine ich jetzt explizit nicht dich), und es schwierig ist, die einzelnen Bilder von Neulingen in diesen Mengen zu finden, habe ich diesen Mechanismus erfunden. Ich habe sowohl das Problem als auch die Lösungen immer wieder andiskutiert, aber das hat nie jemand interessiert. Kritik kann man an all den Vorgehensweisen üben, aber sie stillschweigend zu konterkarieren ist nicht im Sinne des Denkmallistenprojekts. Dass ich über weite Strecken mich alleine um die Einsortierung der Bilder auf Commons kümmere, sehe ich nicht als mein Problem, sondern als Problem der anderen 70 deklarierten Mitarbeiterinnen im Projekt. BTW, die Regeln wie Bilder hier zu bearbeiten sind (ID, Kategorien, Beschreibungen) stammen entweder aus allgemein gültigen Regeln von Commons oder wurde im Denkmallistenprojekt primär von Hubertl und Karl (etwa) und in der Umsetzung von Alex festgelegt. Ich habe sie nur noch ausformuliert. Diese check done Kategorie ist nur eine technische Variante, wie eine Umsetzung praktisch erfolgen kann. Es ist eine versteckte Kategorie, nicht mal Bwag hat sich (bisher) darüber mokiert. Und sie markiert das Bild als geprüft (was könnte eine AutorIn gegen ein dokumentiertes Vieraugenprinzip haben) und nicht die Uploaderin. Fühl dich also bitte nicht persönlich angegriffen. erstens machst du nicht alles falsch und zweitens wollte ich dir schon gar nicht das Gefühl geben, dass du alles falsch machst. Und ein check done heißt doch nicht, dass du was falsch gemacht hast, sondern dass es richtig ist. Ich verstehe nicht. Meine Definition von ausreichend tut nichts zur Sache. Das ist im Projekt kollektiv zu erarbeiten. Aber danke für den Hinweis. Ich habe vieles zur Diskussion gestellt, und es ist durch Schweigen akzeptiert worden. Qualitätssicherungsmaßnahmen in Wikipedia-Projekten enden IMHO immer am Ende damit, dass keine Wartungskategorie mehr am Bild ist. Alle Projekte gehen davon aus, dass Elemente ohne Baustein oder Kategorie oder ungesichtet-Flag OK sind. Ich glaube schon, dass die Vorgehensweise, im Wizard die Kategorie "Check needed" zu vergeben und nach dem Check zu löschen (und die anderen Bilder eben nicht systematisch zu checken) funktioniert. Ja, ich habe die Beschreibung zu der Kategorie gelesen, ich verstehe nur noch immer nicht, warum man sie braucht (jedenfalls außerhalb des Wettbewerbs, da kann man natürlich nur geprüfte Bilder zulassen wollen). --Ailura (talk) 18:43, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Siehst Du die Gräber in der Ferne...

(nach BK - ich habe gesehen, dass du die Totalüberwachung zurückgezogen hast, trotzdem:)

Ok, erstens gibt es noch andere Kategorien gleicher Art. Zweitens ist es schwierig, hier die noch nicht geprüften Bilder zu finden (bin aber offen, wenn du wüsstest wie). Daher diese Kategorie. (Ich schaue mir regelmäßig die Bilder an, die noch nicht in dieser Kategorie sind und versuche das umzusetzen, was in der unwidersprochenen Anleitung drinnen steht. Und markiere die Gutfälle weg. Damit bleiben die über, um die sich noch jemand zu kümmern hat. So einfach ist das.) Aber wie oben gesagt, ich bin offen für Alternativen. Tu bitte nicht die Anforderungen wegdiskutieren, zeig mir alternative Lösungen. Drittens glaube ich nicht, dass ein Projekt wie das Denkmallistenprojekt nach dem gleichen einfachen Strickmuster funktioniert, wie das Hochladen einzelner Bilder. Ich finde es immer extrem schade, wenn Leute >12000 Bilder hochladen und sich nicht um die Beschreibungen kümmern. Und da rede ich noch gar nicht von den Bildern unseres Inders oder den unscharfen Schneebildern des Ungarn. Viertens bin ich nicht auf die Idee gekommen, auf commons müsste jedes Bild perfekt sein (btw, du überpauschalierst manchmal etwas), aber bei den Denkmalbilder in AT halte ich es für wichtig, dass die Bildbeschreibung und die Einordnung korrekt sein sollten. Was stört dich daran, dass ich das gegenprüfe? Erst gestern habe ich wieder zwei Bilder mit falscher ID gefunden. Die ID ist für diverse Bots von entscheidender Bedeutung, z.B. werden damit automatisch Kategorien und Koordinaten vergeben. Gerade bei den Powerusern, die alles richtig machen, sind oftmals falsche IDs dabei ((jeweils nur das erste jeder Serie): [1], [2], [3], [4], [5] (Eigenfehler), [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12], [13], [14], [15], [16], [17], [18], [19], [20], [21], [22], [23], [24], [25], [26], [27], [28] und sonst: [29], [30], einige Eigenfehler). Wir machen das alles hier in unserer Freizeit, sei doch froh, wenn ich mich drum kümmere. Den Mechanismus gibt es seit langer Zeit, keiner hat sich bisher dazu kritisch geäußert (im Gegenteil), aber du kannst gerne eine allgemeine Diskussion darüber anstoßen. Nebstbei glaube ich, dass es der Idee des freien Wissens dient, wenn die Beschreibungen nicht irreführen, insoferne deckt sich das auch mit den Vereinszielen von WMAT. Ich kann mich natürlich immer im Einzelfall irren, dann hoffe ich doch darauf hingewiesen oder reverted zu werden.

• zu den Beispielbildern oben: Der Grenzstein trägt die Bezeichnung 1829, der Dehio meint: Der Grenzstein stammt zusammen mit anderen aus dem Jahre 1856. Insoferne besteht hier Klärungbedarf.

• das wertet doch ein Bild ungemein auf, macht es aber auch wieder komplett unbrauchbar danke dafür, wär ich nicht draufgekommen.
• die Hütte im Urgeschichtemuseum ist momentan über die ID als denkmalgeschützt markiert. Vermutlich ist das falsch und die id gehört raus. Analog beim pdf.

Die Sache mit dem Grenzstein habe ich nicht gesehen, danke für die Info, dann wird das wohl ein Fehler sein. Ich halte das Gräberfeld aus der Ferne nach wie vor nicht für unbrauchbar, es zeigt die weitere Umgebung einer Ausgrabungsstätte, deren Inhalt ohnehin unsichtbar ist. ich bin doch immer friedlich. Danke für dein letztes Statement. Hat mich gefreut (auch wenn du es wieder gelöscht hast). Ich habe dein Argument mit den Kategorien schon verstanden (needs check vs. checked), aber ich halte es halt nicht für problemadäquat (im Gegensatz etwa zu Category:Files_from_Werner_Fayman_Flickr_stream_(to_check)). Zum Workflow (kurz, denn vieles steht relativ ausführlich in der Anleitung)

• Bilder kommen über unterschiedliche Mechanismen nach Commons, BenutzerInnen lassen sich keinen Mechanismus vorschreiben. Daher kann eine 'needs check'-Kategorie nicht funktionieren. Aktuell kommen sicher mehr als die Hälfte der Bilder nicht über den Upload Wizard und damit ohne diese Kategorie. Genausowenig wie du Benutzer zwingen kannst, einen bestimmten Mechanismus zu verwenden, kannst du verlangen, dass sie diese Kategorie freiwillig draufkleben. Ich würde es feiner finden, wenn der Upload Wizard einen echten Mehrwert darstellen würde, dann wird er auch verwendet. Ist aber nicht so.
• Die nicht geprüften Bilder werden über CatScan gelistet (war schwierig, da bei der Menge an Bildern überall Beschränkungen des CatScans lauern, aber über after und before geht fast alles.)
• Diese Bilder werden gemäß unserer Anleitung geprüft und vervollständigt, zu Kategorien zusammengefasst und in den Denkmallisten / Denkmaleinzelbeschreibungen verwendet (nur wenn notwendig), ich versuche auch sinnvolle Namen zu vergeben (Bei File:Rund trifft eckig.JPG definitiv nicht der Fall, aber solange ich nicht weiß, was auf dem Foto zu sehen ist, mag ich es nicht verschieben). Ich mache Plausibilitätsprüfungen (ein Pfarrhof ist keine Kirche und umgekehrt). Anschließend markiere ich mit check done.
• Was ich nicht alleine klären kann, verschiebe ich entweder auf weitere Kategorien (etwa Unidentified locations in …), versuche eine bilaterale Klärung oder wende mich in letzter Instanz an das BDA.

Du warst friedlich. Dachte ich mir schon, dass das auch in der Anleitung steht, danke trotzdem für die persönliche Aufklärung. Ich frage mich, ob die Arbeit nicht bewältigbarer wäre, wenn nur die Bilder geprüft würden, die das auch wollen (weil der Baustein freiwillig oder durch den Wizard gesetzt wurde). "Rund trifft eckig" ist der Titel, den der Fotograf seinem Werk gegeben hat und er beschreibt auch einen Aspekt vom Bild (also kein sachlicher Fehler). Das ist auf Commons IMHO zulässig (wenn auch natürlich für eine Nutzung im Denkmalkontext unpraktisch), mit welcher Begründung willst Du das ändern? Objektiv aus dem Technikpool ausleihen

Hallo Ailura,

wir haben uns persönlich auf der WikiCon 2013 in Karlsruhe kennengelernt. Ich war als Preisträger für den 10ten und 43. Platz eingeladen. Erinnerst du dich noch? Du sagtest ich könnte mich mal bei dir melden, falls ich mal Equipment aus dem Technikpool benötige. Ich würde mir nun gerne mal ein Ultraweitwinkelobjektiv für meine Nikon-Kamera ausleihen. Während meines Urlaub würde ich gerne Landschaftsaufnahmen für die Wikipedia machen. Dafür wäre das 12-24mm F4,5-5,6 DG HSM II von Sigma sehr gut geeignet oder etwas vergleichbares. Ist die Liste vom Technikpool vollständig? Gibt es nur eine Liste oder gibt es verschiedene Listen? Wie funktioniert das mit dem Ausleihen? Über deine Hilfe würde ich mich sehr freuen!

Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 startet in Kürze

Hallo Ailura,

in Kürze ist es wieder soweit. Der nun schon traditionelle Fotowettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments wird im September zum vierten Mal stattfinden. In ähnlicher Form hatte unlängst der Wettbewerb "Wiki Loves Earth" eine erfolgreiche Premiere. Zu allen bisherigen vier Wettbewerben haben seit 2011 gut 3000 unterschiedliche Teilnehmer (User) ihren Beitrag geleistet. Du warst dabei, und bist auch herzlich eingeladen, am bevorstehenden WLM-Wettbewerb wieder dabei zu sein.

Allein in Deutschland wurden in den letzten drei Jahren im Rahmen von WLM rund 100.000 Fotos zu den insgesamt ca. 850.000 Kulturdenkmalen bundesweit hochgeladen. Jährlich haben sich mehrere Hundert Wiki-Fotographen daran beteiligt. Auch im kommenden Denkmalmonat wird dies gewiss wieder der Fall sein. Der Tag des offenen Denkmals am 14. September bietet bundesweit vielfältige Möglichkeiten, Denkmale nicht nur von außen, sondern auch von innen zu fotografieren. Denkmallisten sind dabei ein wichtiger Orientierungspunkt und zugleich auch Ziel der Einbindung der Fotos. Auch in diesem Jahr sind wieder neue Denkmallisten hinzugekommen, die hilfreich bei der Planung von individuellen oder Gruppen-Fototouren sind und auf eine Bebilderung warten, wie z.B. zu Görlitz oder Zittau. Unter den Landeshauptstädten fehlt nur noch Stuttgart. Aber auch hier ist Licht in Sicht.

In der Mitte Deutschlands hat die Denkmallandschaft der thüringischen Landeshauptstadt Erfurt nun das Licht der Wikipedia-Welt entdeckt. Mehr als 50 Tabellen enthalten 3.700 Denkmale. Allein die wunderschön restaurierte Altstadt umfasst 1.800 Denkmale. Eine von WMDE geförderte WLM-Fototour nach Erfurt am Wochenende vom 29. – 31. August lädt herzlich ein, diese einzigartige Kulturlandschaft zu dokumentieren. Mehr Informationen findest Du auf der Projektseite.

Na, allein der Typo mit Seizersdorf hat mich komplett aus der Bahn geworfen. Und bei den anderen war mir der Dateiname nicht genau genug. z.B. File:VFR Ostösterreich 5845584945.jpg oder File:VFR Ostösterreich 5845586571.jpg. Natürlich suche ich gezielt nach Fehlern in deinen Uploads, du machst leider nicht so viele. Ich muss mich ganz schön anstrengen. Im Ernst, ich habe nach unkategorisierten Bildern von Österreich gesucht, dabei bin ich auch über die Bilder gestolpert, die du hochgeladen hast. Da sie schon über ein Jahr unberührt herumliegen, bin ich davon ausgegangen, dass du sie aus den Augen verloren haben könntest. Ein dickes Danke

Hallo K@rl, habe die Frage durch den Namens-Ping mitbekommen. Wie auf meiner Seite kurz angesprochen geht es um ein Foto, das ich voriges Jahr gemacht habe, akkreditiert und die Fotgrafierte zuvor um Erlaubnis fragend, woran sie sich aber nicht erinnern kann. Nun wollte sie das Bild nicht online sehen, womit ich überhaupt kein Problem habe und deshalb auch den Löschantrag unterstützte. Hier wurde entschieden, das Bild nicht zu löschen. Im Zuge des Hin-und-Hers via E-mail und auch bei den Löschanträgen schrieb sie davon, sich, wenn das Bild bleibt, rechtliche Schritte vorzubehalten (ob da jetzt noch was kommt weiß ich nicht; wäre das Bild einfach gelöscht worden bräuchte ich mir diesbezüglich jedenfalls keine Gedanken zu machen). Für mich bedeutet das, mir gründlich zu überlegen, wie ich in Zukunft verfahre wenn es um Fotos von Menschen geht. Die Lösung ist wohl, den Leuten die Bilder noch viel häufiger zur Freigabe zu schicken, als ich es bisher schon getan habe. Im Moment warte ich auf einige solcher Antworten. Sind die da, lade ich auch wieder Bilder von ein paar Veranstaltungen der letzten Wochen hoch. In der Zwischenzeit kümmere ich mich halt um Kategorisierungen, bereite ein paar Blumenbilder zum Upload vor usw. --Tsui (talk) 11:29, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Okay, verstehe, das ist sicherlich unschön, auch wen du Unterstützung bekämst, die Scherereien hast trotzdem du. Allerdings, versteh ich nicht ganz, war es nihct zum löschen geht, wenn du erklärst dass keine Erlaubnis zum Foto vorliegt. Frage da einmal @Wdwd: der hat da rechtlich auch mehr Ahnung - ich habe solche Fotos nämlich schon gelöscht bekommen, wenn es ums Pers.recht geht. Ich war dort akkreditiert, habe das Foto im öffentlichen Raum gemacht (es wäre also auch ohne Akkreditierung insofern in Ordnung), habe die Fotografiert vor dem Knippsen extra gefragt, ob es in Ordnung ist wenn ich ein Bild für Wikipedia mache und sie hat das damals bejaht, nur kann sie sich jetzt offenbar nicht mehr dran erinnern. Ich hätte sogar einen Zeugen, der dabei war und gesehen hat, wie ich ihr das Bild am Display der Kamera gezeigt habe. Für mich war also alles in Ordnung, ich dachte mich da besser des (vermeintlichen) Einverständnisses versichert als bei manch anderer Veranstaltung. Wie gesagt ziehe ich daraus für mich die Lehre, noch viel öfter als bisher Fotos vor dem Upload hier zuerst den Fotografierten zu senden, damit sie sie freigeben od. mir sagen welche sie nicht online sehen möchten. Der andere Aspekt, der mir Kopfzerbrechen macht, ist halt, dass die an der Löschdisk. Beteiligten die Bildsammler-Prinzipien über die Interessen der Fotgrafierten und auch über meine als Fotograf und hier Beitragender, der einfach keine Lust auf rechtliche Auseinandersetzungen hat, stellen.

Jeder darf editieren

Ich respektiere natürlich die Leistung anderer Nutzer. Aber wenn ein Foto zu dunkel ist ist es zu dunkel.

Ob das jetzt 2.89 MB sind oder 3.71 MB sieht man nicht und für den Gebrauch im Wiki ist es einfach wichtig, die Bilder richtig erkennen zu können.

Wenn hier jeder seine eigenen Bilder machen würde kann auch gleich jeder seine eigenen Artikel schreiben und sich aufregen wenn einer was daran ändert. Vielleicht solltest du dir die Wikiquette nochmal richtig durchlesen.

Oder sorge einfach selber für eine gute Helligkeit bei deinen Bildern, wie z.B. bei dem ESC Moderatoren-Bild, dann muss auch keiner an deinen Werken "rumbasteln".

Und ja, ich habe durchaus einen kalibrierten Bildschirm.

Also nochmal: beruhig dich bitte!

@Karl Gruber: Ich habe das Foto unter Angabe von Ailura als Autor hochgeladen. Ich habe es nicht als meines ausgegeben und in der Ursprünglichen Version hätte man es nicht verwenden können, weil der Tänzer links schaut wie erschossen.

I see the point. Those drawings have their own copyright, as I see it. I think it would be better to upload versions that contain only him and maybe just a small part of those drawings. Or maybe have them blurred out before upload, to point out that it's something there that is copyrighteable. Der WLM-Countdown hat begonnen

Hallo Ailura,

nun ist es wieder soweit. Vom 1. bis zum 30. September findet zum fünften Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments statt. Im Mittelpunkt steht bekanntlich das Fotografieren von Kulturdenkmalen. Du hast an einem der letzten Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen und wir freuen uns auf weitere Bildbeiträge von Dir.

Viele interessante Motive, nicht nur Burgen und Schlösser, sondern auch Fachwerkhäuser, Brücken und Brunnen, technische und Industriedenkmale und vieles mehr gibt es noch zu fotografieren, damit sie in der Wikipedia dokumentiert werden können. Nützliche Tipps findest du auf unserer WLM-Projektseite. Du kannst gerne individuell Fototouren durchführen oder aber Dich auch Gruppentouren anschließen. Besonders freuen wir uns auf Fotos, die Lücken in den Denkmallisten der Wikipedia ausfüllen.

Lizenzerweiterung für ORF-Dokumentation

Hallo Ailura, ich bin Redakteur in einer Wiener Filmproduktion. Wir drehen derzeit eine Dokumentation über das österreichische Fussball-Nationalteam für den ORF. Für eine Grafiksequenz möchten wir einige deiner Bilder verwenden und bräuchten dafür eine Erweiterung der CC Lizenz (von BY-SA auf BY bzw. von 3.0 auf 4.0) Wäre das für dich in Ordnung? Diese Antwort ist nur ein Hinweis und ersetzt keineswegs eine Antwort von Ailura selbst: Eine Änderung der Lizenz von BY-SA auf BY wäre eine Einschränkung, kein Erweiterung! Es würde nur verhindern, dass der Teil der Dokumentation, welche auf den verwendeten CC-Bilder aufbaut, von anderen verwendet werden darf (Share Alike). Was aber der Sinn der Sache von freien Lizenzen ist. Die Änderung von Version 3.0 auf 4.0 ist ohne Bedeutung in diesem Fall. Am Sonntag, den 1. Mai 2016 startete zum dritten Mal der Fotowettbewerb Wiki Loves Earth in Österreich.

Hallo Ailura, kannst du mal bitte bei File:Wiki takes Nordtiroler Oberland 20150605 Kapelle Mariae Heimsuchung Stams 6924.jpg nach dem Rechten sehen. Nach den Koordinaten ist das eher die Ortskapelle Hauland (id 13655), als die Stamser Alm. Bevor ich die Innenansicht hier einfüge. Wenn wir mal davon ausgehen, dass die Kapelle Hauland durch das Tiris-Bild bestätigt ist (*hust*), dann gehören die Bilder beide dazu. Hallo Eingangskontrolle, nein das mag ich nicht. Ich hasse es, wenn Menschen in meinen Bildern herumcroppen, aber kann es leider nicht verhindern. Herr Probst und Herr Keiner schauen den Betrachter auf diesem Bild nicht einmal an. Von Florian Orth existieren auch Einzefotos. Ich kann am abend zuhause noch einmal nachsehen, ob ich noch bessere Bilder von dem Event finde. Pages at DR shouldn't be speedy-deleted unless they're found to be copyright infringements or other significantly problematic cases, basically because as long as the DR is open, people ought to have the chance to see the image and offer input. Bezirk WU

Hallo Ailura, da du als letzte an der Karte gearbeitet hast, wollte ich dich fragen, ob du das bewusst gemacht hast, dass der Teil vom Bezirk Tulln und St.Pölten, die zu WU gehörten beim Industrieviertel bleiben. Die Originalquelle für die Karten bei noe.gv.at [34] war bei meiner Änderung noch auffindbar, ich meine damals auch schon ohne WU und ging auch vor der Bezirksauflösung zum Teil quer durch Bezirke. Da gibts einen Datensatz [35], TU ist darin jedenfalls geteilt, ich kann es in den nächsten Tagen auch noch genau checken - Du kannst Dir die verlinkte kml-Datei mit google earth anschauen. --Ailura (talk) 18:36, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

Nordic Combined

I'm Shev and I'm writing about Nordic Combined on French wiki. I'm trying to write good artcles about this sport and I would like to know if you can (or if you know someone) who can take pictures of competitions. Indeed, actually we don't really have good pictures of athletes or competitions and it's tricky to illustrate articles.

Hey Ailura,

New season of NC is coming and there is some competitions in Austria ! For the summer Grand Prix, there is one competition in Tschagguns/Partenen, for the World Cup, Ramsau and Seefeld, Eisenerz for the Men's Continental Cup and unfortunately no races for the Women's continental cup. Of course, you don't have to take pictures of all these competitions!

Also, I am currently writing the page of a Norwegian nordic combined skiers who lived and died in Austria, fr:Johan Blomseth. Is there a simple way to find where he is burried (I would like someone to take a picture of his grave). Thanks ! --Shev123 (talk) 21:11, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi Shev, thanks for the information, I don't know how to get information on Mr. Blomseth yet, but i'll try. Concerning the races, I'm currently planning to go to Seefeld this year. I had hoped for a women's race, but i'll find something else. In 2019 i'd like to go to the World Championships in Seefeld. The Summer Grand Prix is starting this weekend, i'm afraid i can't make it - still Tschagguns is the most complicated destination from Vienna, Planica would be my fist choice. --Ailura (talk) 06:31, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

That's great if you can go to Seefeld next january. It's going to be just before the Olympics and probably all the athlete will be there and it's possible to have a pictures of all the athletes and coachs who will be in Korea. For the world championships, it is in general more complicated to have an accreditation because the international federation are in charge of that part. We saw it for the Ice hockey championships and for the handball world championships both in Paris in 2017.

Eine Karte der Hauptregionen für die entsprechenden Artikel wäre schön, am besten eine, wo auch die Bezirksgrenzen sichtbar sind. Basis könnte z.B. das hier sein (nicht ganz am neuesten Stand, WU gibt es dort noch, aber das ändert am Zuschnitt der Hauptregionen nichts). Hi! Will you be also taking pictures from guys ski jumping trainings/qualis/competition on World Championships in Seefeld? Bitte um Hilfe

Hallo Ailura, da du in Fulda gescheitert bist, mein Foto zu retten, ich aber ganz fasziniert war, wie einfach das scheinbar ging, habe ich jetzt zwei neue Rettungsbitten

• - oben muss was weg
• - unten links ist was im bild

Da hat "irgendjemand" beim Upload nicht aufgepasst. Ich hoffe, du schimpfst nicht zu sehr über die schlechten Fotos, vor allem wenn du die restlichen Fotos der Cats bzw aus dem ganzen Hochladeschwung siehst - schief, zu wenig platz, zu viel platz, Gegenlicht, keine sportler :-) (Kein Vergleich zu deinen Aufnahmen) Ich muss wohl wieder zum Fotoworkshop. die kamera ist übrigens weg. sie ist vor jahren mal im spreewald in der spree verschwunden...

Derart kontrastreiche Bilder kann man nur mit Rohdaten sicher beherrschen. Ein JPG derart kraß zu bearbeiten, ist nur scheinbar eine Verbesserung. --Ralf Roletschek 14:03, 7 December 2019 (UTC)

Hallo @Z thomas: wie besprochen, habe ich meine Verschlimmbesserungen gleich drübergespeichert. Ich wäre nicht so sicher, ob raw bei Handy- und Kompaktkamerafotos besonders viel Unterschied macht (wenn es überhaupt immer möglich ist). --Ailura (talk) 16:56, 7 December 2019 (UTC)

Du hast natürlich Recht, bei kleinen Sensoren bringt auch RAW keine Wunder. Aber mit einem modernen Sensor ist da manchmal doch einiges überraschend Gutes möglich. Klar kann man deine Qualitätsanforderungen nicht erwarten aber darum gehts ja auch nicht. Es gibt einige wenige Kompaktkameras mit APS-C, wenn die dann noch ein gutes Objektiv haben, können die mittelpreisige Spiegelreflex mit Kit-Objektiv locker übertreffen. Vieles, was noch vor wenigen Jahren galt, stimmt heute nicht mehr. --Ralf Roletschek 02:42, 8 December 2019 (UTC)

Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

• To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
• To perform file name swaps.
• When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Smart Beach Tour Nürnberg 2017

Hallo Ailura, vielen Dank nochmal für die tollen Bilder von der Smart Beach Tour in Nürnberg 2017. Kann es sein, dass du beim Sortieren/Kategorisieten der Bilder die Spielerinnen Anne Matthes und Constanze Bieneck vertauscht hast? Auf der Wikipedia-Seite von Anne Matthes wird nämlich gesagt, dass es nicht Anne Matthes ist, die auf deinem Foto zu sehen ist. Bitte überprüfe das doch noch einmal. Commons Photographers User Group: Meeting on September 26 and other stuff

Dear member of the Commons Photographers User Group,

I've got a quick update for you, containing three items:

• I’d like to invite you to our group’s second Virtual Meeting on Saturday, September 26, 2020. As last time, this meeting will serve as an opportunity to get to know each other better, share learnings, and connect in times of the global COVID-19 pandemic. If you'd like to present, please add your name and the proposed topic to the list on the talk page.
• Also, I'd like to start a conversation about how we should be sharing responsibility for the user group going forward. I'd love to get some help when it comes to organizing things and I'm convinced that we can achieve more if a couple of people helped with coordinating stuff.
• Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has asked me to spread the word about their latest survey: Universal Code of Conduct Survey. The goal is to create a safer environment on Wikimedia projects and the Foundation gathers feedback prior to coming up with a first draft.

Nordic combined

Hi Ailura,

I hope you are fine ! A few years ago, you took pictures of Nordic combined competitions with Granada. Today, I saw an article that annonces that the first women world cup competitions of nordic combined will take place in Ramsau ! There is an important need of good pictures (I think we only have one athlete, Tara Geraghty-Moats, with a good picture and it's yours). Hi Shev, we also were at the Nordic Combined COC last Winter, where we took pictures of the women but still did not upload them. I try to find out how many pictures of the participants we really have. Begründung

Hallo, du hast hier meine Bearbeitung, bei der ich das Bild als "schlecht" bezeichnet habe, rückgängig gemacht. Der Grund dahinter war, dass das Bild bereits davor in der Kategorie Images of low quality war. Auf der Kategorieseite steht, dass Bilder nicht manuell zur Kategorie hinzugefügt werden sollen (also nicht mit [[Category:Images of..., sondern mit der Vorlage), deshalb habe ich bei allen Bildern, die manuell in der Kategorie waren, die Vorlage hinzugefügt. Hoffe, das erklärt das ganze ... und ohne diese Begründung wäre es ja auch echt unverschämt gewesen, deinem verbesserten Bild diese Vorlage hinzuzufügen . . . Dann sollte man vielleicht zunächst einmal nachsehen, ob die Einstufung überhaupt noch zutrifft. Hier wurde die Kategorie vor Urzeiten eingefügt, bevor das Bild deutlichst verbessert wurde. Next Commons Photographers meeting featuring large format photographer Ben Horne

Dear member of the Commons Photographers User Group,

I'm happy to invite you to our next virtual meeting on Saturday, March 20, at the usual time. As I mentioned during our last get-together, I'd like to invite external guests every now and then, given that it seems good to expand our view and learn something from someone outside our community.

Our first external guest, Ben Horne, will talk about large format wilderness photography, followed by a question-and-answer session. Ben is maybe one of best known contemporary large format photographers in the United States. On his excursions to national parks, he shoots 8×10 film and talks about his adventures on his YouTube channel which has attracted more than 48,000 followers so far. He is YouTube's first, and longest active landscape photography vlogger and I'm thrilled that he has agreed to join our next meeting and talk about his experiences.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2021

Hallo Ailura!, bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. bis zum 30. September 2021 findet zum elften Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments statt. Dabei können Bau-, Boden- und Kulturdenkmale fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich gern wieder ein, dieses Jahr mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos! Obwohl es den Wettbewerb seit über zehn Jahren gibt, sind immer noch viele Motive überall in Deutschland zu fotografieren. Im Herzen Deutschlands in Thüringen und "Von der Weser bis zur Elbe, Von dem Harz bis an das Meer", also in Niedersachsen, sind neue Denkmallisten entstanden, die auf Fotos warten. Übrigens in der Hauptstadt Thüringens in Erfurt findet diese Jahr die WikiCon vom 1. bis 3. Oktober statt. Dies könnte man mit einem Foto-Kurzurlaub vor der WikiCon in Thüringen verbinden … Vor dem Hintergrund der Flutkatastrophe 2021 haben wir auch drei Sonderpreise ausgelobt. Damit sollen Fotos prämiert werden, die Kulturdenkmale zeigen, die zerstört wurden. Das Foto kann das Objekt vor oder nach der Zerstörung zeigen. Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du auf der Mitmach-Seite. Du bist interessiert, am Wettbewerb mitzuwirken, dir fehlt aber die richtige Technik? Dann wirf doch mal einen Blick in den Technikpool und das Technikleihportal von Wikimedia Deutschland! Dort findest du Kameras, Objektive und Zubehör verschiedenster Art. Außerdem laden wir Dich ein, ab Anfang September 2021 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Diese bewertet die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelt so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die im Oktober tagt, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Monuments 2021 in Deutschland. ich versuche auch ab und zu die Wikidaheim-Templates zu setzen. bin aber leider an einer Petscan-Abfrage basierend auf den Templates "WikiDaheim" und "Wiki Takes Südburgenland" gescheitert, weil "Wiki Takes Südburgenland" das WikiDaheim-Template nutzt.

andere Frage zum Wiki-daheim-template:

wie ist denn logik beim parameter?

• sind kriegerdenkmale, die kein Kulturdenkmal sind, public art oder wikidata
• sind friedhöfe, die keine kein Kulturdenkmal sind, commons oder wikidata

Ähm, das weiß ich alles auch nicht so genau. Wiki Loves Earth 2022 - Deutschland

Hallo Ailura,

bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. Mai bis zum 31. Mai 2022 findet zum zehnten Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Earth statt. Deutschland ist bereits zum neunten Mal dabei. Dabei können unter anderem Nationalparks, Naturschutzgebiete, Geotope und Naturdenkmäler fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich ein, auch dieses Jahr wieder mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

Seit dem vergangenen Jahr ist der Wettbewerb zweigeteilt, das heißt wir unterscheiden zwischen den beiden Bereichen Landschaft und Detail/Makro. Zu Landschaft zählen auch geschützte Einzelbäume. Im Bereich Detail/Makro werden Pflanzen, Tiere und Pilze bewertet.

Es sind wie immer viele spannende Motive überall in Deutschland zu finden. Neben Naturdenkmälern wie alten Bäumen oder Naturparks im Gebirge und am Meer können Geotope wie Findlinge, Quellen und Aufschlüsse oder FFH-Gebiete fotografiert werden, um sie unter anderem in der Wikipedia zu dokumentieren. Auch im vergangenen Jahr sind zahlreiche neue Listen und Artikel in diesen Bereichen entstanden, für die wir uns über Fotos freuen - zum Beispiel in Bayern Liste der Naturdenkmäler im Landkreis Würzburg oder in Sachsen Liste der Naturdenkmale in Stollberg/Erzgeb.

Als Einstieg für die Suche nach Motiven hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du bei WLE 2022 – Deutschland und unter dieser Anleitung.

In diesem Jahr feiert die FFH-Richtlinie ihren 30. Geburtstag. Aus diesem Grund vergeben wir fünf Sonderpreise für die Fotografen, die die meisten FFH-Gebiete fotografieren.

Außerdem laden wir Dich ein, vom 1. Mai bis 30. Juni 2022 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Damit bewertest du die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelst so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die im Juli tagen wird, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Earth 2022 in Deutschland. Das Vorjurytool ist bald hier freigeschaltet. Du benötigst dafür nur deinen Benutzernamen und das Passwort.

Ich habe gesehen, daß bei Deinen Bildern von Skulpturen dort der Lizenz-Baustein {{FoP-Germany}} fehlt. Da alle der dort gezeigten Künstler noch nicht 70 Jahre tot sind ist das nötig (2 hab ich schon gemacht), wir wollen doch Löschtrollen kein Futter bieten. Sieger 2021 – Schloss Langenburg

Vergangenes Jahr hat Matthias Süßen mit einer Drohnenaufnahme von Schloss Langenburg im Morgennebel gewonnen. Welcher Fotograf wird dieses Jahr sein Nachfolger?

Nach WLM 2022 sind wieder zahlreiche neue Denkmallisten entstanden – zum Beispiel die Denkmallisten in Cloppenburg oder in Oldenburg.

Wir haben dieses Jahr unter dem Motto „Klein aber Oho“ drei Sonderpreise für Kleindenkmale ausgelobt. Damit sollen Fotos prämiert werden, die die unterschätzten Kleindenkmale wie Grenzsteine oder Bildstöcke zeigen.

Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.

Außerdem laden wir Dich ein, ab Anfang September 2022 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Question from the CPUG Board

Dear user group member,

I'm writing you to today on behalf of the board of the Commons Photographers User Group. The past year has been a busy one for us. In 2022, we've had more activities than ever before in the history of our group and you'll find an overview on our group's page.

With that being said, 2022 was also a year of learning for the current board members. Most of us hadn't been involved in running the Photographers User Group and we spent quite some time on getting used to our new roles. We all feel it was a steep learning curve.

That's why, at our last board meeting, we decided to ask our members whether they'd be ok with us serving for another year. Extending our board duties to the end of 2023 would allow us to continue the work we've started this year, and to benefit from the knowledge we've built over the past twelve months.

However, in the end, it's up to you and the other members of our group to decide whether such an extension of our board term should be granted. I invite you to voice your opinion on this page:

Wiki Loves Monuments 2023 - Deutschland

Sieger 2022 – Kloster Paulinzella

bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. bis zum 30. September 2023 findet zum dreizehnten Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments (WLM) statt. Dabei können Bau-, Boden- und Kulturdenkmale fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich gern wieder ein, dieses Jahr mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

Vergangenes Jahr hat Radomianin mit einer Gesamtansicht von Kloster Paulinzella gewonnen. Welcher Fotograf oder welche Fotografin tritt dieses Jahr die Nachfolge an?

Nach WLM 2022 sind wieder zahlreiche neue Denkmallisten entstanden – zum Beispiel die Denkmallisten in Waltershausen in Thüringen oder in Fulda.

Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.

Für das einfache Auffinden haben wir eine Upload-Karte erstellt, in der viele aber leider noch nicht alle Kulturdenkmale angezeigt werden können. Das Laden der Objekte dauert dort etwas.

Wir haben dieses Jahr „drei Sonderpreise für Bilder von Friedhöfen“ ausgelobt. Zugelassen sind für den Sonderpreis auch Fotos von Friedhöfen, die nicht denkmalgeschützt sind.

• December 15: Results announced

Flickypedia soft launch and a huge thank you

Dear fellow Commons photographer,

I hope this message finds you well. As you might already know, the Flickr Foundation has been busy creating a new Flickr-to-Commons bridge (“Flickypedia”) this year. After a successful demo at the GLAM Wiki Conference in Montevideo, the Flickr Foundation team is now inviting all members of the Commons Photographers User Group to be the first to review their alpha, reporting any technical issues or other feedback via the Flickypedia project talk page.

At the same time, this message is an opportunity for me to thank you for your trust and support over the past couple of years. Since 2017, we've grown into being one of the largest user groups in the Wikimedia universe. I've tremendously enjoyed interacting with all of our members when it came to joint photowalks at Wikimanias, virtual Zoom meetings where we covered a wide variety of photography topics, as well as our annual “Most memorable shot of the year”, among many other events. As I'm not running for an official position in our current board election, this will be my last message on behalf of the user group to you. Thanks for all the happy moments we shared together over the years! I hope you'll continue creating free images for the millions of people we serve through Wikipedia and Commons.

Dabei können wie immer Nationalparks, Naturschutzgebiete, Geotope und Naturdenkmäler oder andere Schutzgebiete fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich ein, auch dieses Jahr wieder mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

  Ramsach, ein linker Zufluss zur Loisach im oberbayerischen FFH-Gebiet Murnauer Moos

Der Wettbewerb ist zweigeteilt, das heißt, wir unterscheiden zwischen den beiden Wettbewerbskategorien Landschaft und Detail/Makro. Zur Wettbewerbskategorie Landschaft zählen auch geschützte Einzelbäume. In der Wettbewerbskategorie Detail/Makro werden Pflanzen, Tiere und Pilze in den Schutzgebieten bewertet.

Es sind wie immer viele spannende Motive überall in Deutschland zu finden. Neben Naturdenkmälern wie alten Bäumen oder Naturparks im Gebirge und am Meer können Geotope wie Findlinge, Quellen und Aufschlüsse oder FFH-Gebiete fotografiert werden, um sie unter anderem in der Wikipedia zu dokumentieren. Auch im vergangenen Jahr sind zahlreiche neue Listen und Artikel in diesen Bereichen entstanden, die sich über Fotos freuen – zum Beispiel in Bayern die Liste der Naturdenkmäler im Landkreis Landshut oder die Liste der geschützten Landschaftsbestandteile in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern mit ihren Unterlisten oder gar einzelne Artikel wie die Landschaftsschutzgebiete Sommerschafweide an Buchhalden und Sommerschafweide auf Hilbertswiese in Baden-Württemberg.

Wir vergeben in diesem Jahr drei Sonderpreise für Fotos von Feldrainen und Feldgehölzen in geschützten Gebieten.
