@Taterian: The creator was not "a U.S. National Guard member or employee, taken or made as part of that person's official duties", but rather by a creator that made these paintings on commission in a contract, not as an employee. Dear Josve05a, I have added the source information you requested on the file File:1961 Cozzolino Italy FlaminiaSM.jpg The copyright holder is clearly the owner of the sole print of this image and the original photographer was an itinerant street photographer (e.g. https://blogs.loc.gov/picturethis/2016/04/anything-to-get-the-shot-itinerant-photographers/) who would have handed over the sole copy of the image to the family on the spot. The subject of the article Mimmo Cozzolino has no record of that photographer's identity. The photographer, if they are still alive (image is 59 years old) would have no record of its existence and no copy of the image, and since this was a commercial transaction undertaken on the spot in Trieste under Italian copyright law of the time, the transaction gave rights to the subject. Hi - I saw your tweet here https://twitter.com/JonatanGlad/status/1089317799930015744 and I wondered how you created a "creator" page on Wikimedia with the protected by Pixsy notice on each image. Is there a guide or a tool on Wikimedia on how to do this? I have created an account on Wikimedia (this one), but I can't work out how to identify myself as the creator on my images - such as these https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Photographs_by_Thomas_Tolkien or add a Pixsy protection notice. The subject photoed uploaded that himself and the company you linked as a "copyright violation" is his own company that he co-founded, so he has full control of the picture. . Deletion of widely used file

Hi Josve05a! I noticed that File:055260500 1584762616-20200321-Rumah-Sakit-Lapangan-5.jpg was missing from w:2019–20 coronavirus pandemic, where it was previously included, and I noticed you deleted it. I can't find the explanation; was there a copyright problem or something? I spent a while searching for the best photo to represent the pandemic in Oceania, and that was it, so if there's anything that could be done to restore it, that would be of significant use. @Magicalreview: You are free to comment at the bottom of Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Magicalreview why the files should be kept deleted. The user who requested deletion stated non-free artworks + promotional use on various wiki projects, uploads are part of cross wiki spamming. Please read COM:D prior to commenting though. Inaturalistreview

Hi Josve05a, What is the rationale of this replacement? As a reviewer I prefer {{LicenseReview}} over {{Inaturalistreview}} as it is easier to use (especially combined with User:Rillke/LicenseReview.js). @Lymantria: For three reasons:

For categorization purposes to see how many files are from a specific site, we should try to use site-specific templates if they exist.
The bot iNaturalistReviewBot seem to still be in development (last updates to GitHub was 2 days ago).
To help reviewers. It is easier to review multiple files from the same site than from multiple different sites (having to look where the license is etc.) if they are sorted by site, then a reviewer can spend less time reviewing multiple files.

@Lymantria: Botop here. The template is designed to be easy for the bot to use, not so much human reviewers. Compare {{FlickreviewR}} (bot template) and {{Flickrreview}} (human template). I was going to ask Majora to add it to User:Majora/LicenseReview.js, but unfortunately they've left the projects :(. If anyone knows a good person to take over maintaining that script... Anyway, I hope to have the bot up and running soon enough, but in the meantime, it's up to human reviewers. Since there's not really a great alternative at the moment, I'd say using the main LR template is fine. The benefits Josev05a mentioned are secondary to actually getting reviews done.

While I'm thinking about it, Josve05a, can you check that {{INaturalistreview}} got added to Special:AbuseFilter/70? I can't remember if I'd asked Majora to do it or not. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 05:13, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

iNaturalist

Hi, I see in my watchlist that you add a template to license review the files from iNaturalist, maybe the files uploaded via iNaturalist2Commons should have direclty a kind of "passed" template, as the tool is supposed to sort the images free from the unfree ones. Red-linked synonyms of fungi

Hello. You created a nice photo of Resupinatus trichotis and you created its category page to go with it. You included a list of synonyms with red links to the synonym names, but I think we would be better off without that.

We never want to create category pages for those names in Commons! We should only have one page for this species in Commons, plus redirect pages if there important synonyms. But it makes no sense to have hyperlinks to the category redirect pages. If you must add these synonyms, please could you find a way of adding them without the red links?

It is true that databases like BioLib or Index Fungorum have to keep a list of all these old names for nomenclatural reasons. But surely we don't want to duplicate all that information in Commons? It is confusing for most users, for instance an Agaricus in the modern sense is nothing like a Resupinatus and the fact this species was once named Agaricus rhacodius is best forgotten. The name Agaricus trichotis is the basionym and so has some importance, but it is not wanted here and it is just misleading. It would make more sense to duplicate all the synonym lists in Wikidata than in Commons, but I am against that too. In the unusual case that someone would want this historical information, that person would be knowledgeable and could look it up in BioLib or Index Fungorum, where it belongs. The {{SN}} template is important in certain cases where synonyms are actually in current use, but in my opinion they should only be added as and when needed, and I think that is also the general consensus and practice on Commons (and in Wikidata).

I hope you will consider seriously my recommendation not to copy synonym lists wholesale. Please can I delete the synonym list in this case? Best wishes, Strobilomyces (talk) 15:23, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Strobilomyces: I use the {{SN}} and {{Syn}} templates since they help users to see if a category exists for a synonym as well (where more images might exist). You may want to edit that template not to show red links by using an "if the page exists" formula, but it is a common practice on taxa category to include synonyms using this template. Hi sir, this s about the OTRS ticket on File:DaveLeducTunTunMin.jpg.

Prior to deletion, all the authors of the pictures on the file had sent their OTRS permissions for the pictures and graphic designs.

WikiCommons admins were only waiting on one last explanation for the Pagoda picture used at the background top of the poster, but it ultimately took too long and the file was deleted., but I believe the file is good to go.

I was told that ONE8IGHT, the creator of the file, sent the explanation/permission for the pagoda via email. Therefore, all the pictures have now been addressed.

Since you were the one to point out the pagoda, can you please take look for the email from andreas.hesselback@gmail.com showing permission for the Pagoda in the background.

(Once the file is restored, I am planning to reduce the size of the image.)

Hej Josve. Jag är inte helvass på de här med att ladda upp bilder och något gick fel när jag laddade upp målningen Landskap med Rebecka som tar avsked av sin fader. Jag är lite osäker på om bildfilen hette Claude Lorrain.png eller Claude Lorrain. Landscape with Rebekah Taking Leave of her Father.png här på commons. Bilden förestäler en gamla tavla från Nationamuseum. Jag var i kontakt med dem och frågade om den var fri och varför den inte redan var uppladdad på commons. De svarade ja på första frågan och vet inte på den andra. Det står ju också på deras webbsida att bilden är under public domain (PD). Hur som helst gjorde jag något fel när jag laddade upp den eftersom en robot raderade den något senare. Och när jag försöker ladda upp den igen får jag meddelandet att jag hellre bör göra ett undeletion request. Är detta något du kan hjälpa mig med? Den saknade en licensemall så en bot taggade den för radering och då ingen sådan mall lhade lagts till inom ett par dagar så raderade en annan adminiistratör bilden. @Orchi: Yeah, I've noticed that the first few will be duplicates. I plan to go through them once the batch run is complete. Currently, we have 6.000 of their photos on Commons out of 20.0000. Once the run has completed, I will go through them by machine/bot to delete the duplicates (my tool should have stopped them if completely duplicates of eachother and Commons API should have warned as well prior to uploading, so it appears that the previous uploaders did not use the original files directly from Flickr since they have different SHA1 values...ping @Magnus Manske: since old images were uploaded by FtC and my uploads are done with Flickrripper via API.). --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 18:54, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Gotogo: Antingen har han målat och "publicerat" dem före 1926, därför är de automatiskt fria i USA, eller så publicerade han dem mellan 1926 och 1963 utan att förnyat sin upphovsrätt med USAs upphovsrättsmyndighet, och därför har de förlorat upphovsrättsskydd. Då landet de publicerad verken i och landet vi har våra servrar råkar vara samma (USA), så behöver de bara vara fria i USA för att vi ska få använda dem här och på Wikipedia. Så ja, använd dem! @Timone13: No, I only deleted the image File:Ade Bajomo .jpg which you had uploaded since it was found elsewhere on the web and unlikely to be own work. We can only keep free images here.
