Image deleted

Hi, you ask to delete one of my picture and i want to know why this not conform with the rules of wikimedia? Deletion of Firefox in Ligurian language

Hi Josve05a, probably you could not read what was written in Ligurian/Genoese when Firefox in Zeneize was inserted. The author of Firefox in zeneize is a friend of mine, Mr. Alessio Gastaldi, and user on Wikipedia Ligure with username Gastaz . He has finished his ambitious project last year after updating his official version of Firefox in Ligurian/Genoese language on the website: http://firefoxzeneize.altervista.org/ He was duly authorized to start this project a couple of years ago and anyone can download his version from the web anytime. He changed the Firefox logo by adding the symbol of Genoa (the lighthouse), so the fox is holding a small copy of the "lanterna" (lighthouse) on its paw. As he had no time to work on Wikipedia lately, I asked him for permission (and wrote it) to publish his logo and link, and that is what I did. @Luenséin: You can talk to the WMF board of trustees at m:Talk:Wikimedia_Foundation_Board_of_Trustees or see m:Wikimedia_Foundation_Board_of_Trustees#Contacting_the_Board. They are very unlikely to intervene in the details of individual files hosted on Wikimedia Commons.

If you want the file undeleted, you can ask and put your evidence at COM:UNDEL. There is no need to be dependant on Josve05a.

Keep in mind that the project relies on free volunteer time and interest of volunteers. Annoyed messages in upper-case is not a good way to get results.

BirdLife's logo

I don't get it. I need to prove that I have rights to use BirdLife's logo next to article on BirdLife? What would be considered as reasonable proof of usage rights for this purpose? Logo was download from official BirdLife's repository and it is official version of logo.

@Debeljko: To keep an image on Wikimedia Commons (this site) it needs to be freely licensed; either on the website or by email from the copyright owner. To only keep an image on a English Wikipedia article fair use may be applicable, but only on en.wikipedia.org, not here on Wikimedia Commons. @Manami: Please don't re-upload deleted files. Take it to COM:UNDEL or send evidence of free license to COM:OTRS to have the files undeleted. They were deleted since they are above the threshold of originality to be able to claim to be PD-textlogos/simple/ineligible, and since we are missing evidence of a free license. Theres two issues with that source. First, all Wikia-sites claims that text is CC-BY-SA and that media pages are individually licensed (or not) on individual files description pages. That page has no license. But none of that matters, since it is not an official sources nd the uploader to that page (most likely) do not own the logo. No. Those files are ok since they aren't creative enough to warrant copyright, while your uploaded logos had icons and drawings on them making them above COM:TOO and thereby copyrightable. Be objective. What is the difference between a symbol of spiral and a symbol of heart on background? The "ball" on this isn't "a icon and drawing"??? And you can't accept this, which is simple as those. Deleted logo from Wikimedia

Hi, You recently mentioned that an image that I uploaded (a logo of a charity organization) was deleted from Wikimedia. From the links You kindly provided I managed to come to an understanding that users can only upload logos that they have (i) created themselves, or (ii) have permission to upload from the creator. I am in contact with the organization and they did state that I am allowed to use the logo on the article. How would I go about proving this and uploading the logo? Hi. I spotted your revert at [3], can I ask why 'not for talons please'? That particular use didn't show much information, would it help if taxon name (P225), taxon rank (P105) and parent taxon (P171) were added as well - or are there other improvements you'd like to see? @Mike Peel: That was a typo on my part. I meant 'not for taxons'. We over at Commons:Tree of Life already have a bunch of templates for category pages, such as Template:Taxonavigation, Template:VN and Template:SN - some of which are already maintained through Wikidata using Module:Wikidata4Bio. The template Template:Wikidata Infobox is amazing for most topics, but not for taxon categories. We sometimes don't follow Wikidata's taxa structure, or they may lack severely in information, and the template is superfluous to the templates which should be added instead - so the template should not be used for such categories. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 11:53, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I can avoid adding it to categories that use specified categories, so should I avoid just uses of {{Taxonavigation}} or are there other ones to avoid as well? My offer to expand {{Wikidata Infobox}} is a standing one; if it would be useful to merge in existing taxon template functionality (like has been done for authority control for people, as an example) then we can look into that. Tanks for your message. I did ask the premission to put up the logo picture of all parties included, but I understand that it did not meet the requirements of Wikipedia Conmmons. I understand Wikipedia will have to take it down from the page. From what I read, I thought that it was okay to put it there, but I could have misunderstood something. why did you erase all my pictures !?

hello, you erased almost all my images, while I had already sent an email certifying that I was the owner of all my images. I do not know if you realize how much time and work it took me. Just by taking the example of the article on Q fever, if you had taken the time to read, you would have noticed that I obtained permission to use my thesis work, which came from the Most of the pictures:

OTRS template

First of all your editnotice states "Also, I know my COM:QIC nominaions are bad" do you mean "nominations"? And second of all if it's possible if you would be able to create the OTRS permission template discussed here? As in Template:Sportstune.com and that should automatically sort images into Category:Images contributed by John Ferguson (Sportstune.com), kind of like Template:East Asian Cash Coins. At least if the OTRS ticket 🎟 has already been processed, I'm already busy making an easy import list to upload the images from. As I don't watch your talk page could you post it to my talk page when you're done?
