Hi. You didn't specify a reason for the rename request. Actually, I don't see why a rename is needed, since this is an accepted and widely used spelling of the name. --Paul_012 (talk) 16:50, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
- Well then ... if its really the "widely used spelling" leave it like that. But if I'd use the Royal Thai General System of Transcription then it would be someting like "Maruek Thayawan". --hdamm (talk) 16:54, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
Another note on renames
[edit]I've seen you move quite a few images from their original names in Thai script to Latin. However, as per the link on your user page to Commons:File renaming, files should not be renamed from other languages to English (or other scripts to Latin) if there isn't a problem with the old name. I also think that unless the original Latin spelling of a file name is totally unintelligible, there should be no need to rename the file to follow the RTGS simply because so, since by no means is the RTGS the undisputed standard for spelling Thai names in the Latin script. --Paul_012 (talk) 20:34, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
