I have provided this image via commons licence as declared. Hey. Maria Vita Monge’s picture must not be deleted. As I said when I uploaded it, I took the picture. OTRS (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:OTRS#When_contacting_OTRS_is_unnecessary) says the process is not necessary when the picture is uploaded by the own author, so no matter if I published in another website. However, the automated reply message explains that once the release email has been sent it can take up to 93 days before a Wikimedia OTRS volunteer gets back. being unfree on youtube dosen't show that it is a completely Nonshareable work and nobody can extract any thing from it. I know that it isn't a professional work to make a picture from a video!!! but I haven't seen any rules or obligations in Wikemedia about extracting any thing from a video to pervent me from doing that. and there wasn't any way to Communicate with Avangmusic company to give their Permission to do this unimportant thing (uploading an unusuall image for a Wikipedia page). ofcourse it's not easy to make it. I asked from other friends in WM to solve this problem, but he was not able to help me. on other hand, we can not go youtube in Iran, because it has filtered for some results and we can't search in that, and that's why I didn't realize that this video is un free. i don't know how to use wikimedia commons but i needed this poster. I supposed it could be used since in wikipedia there are a lot of film posters. Slovak national festivities invitation 1950.jpg[edit]

The image you flagged for copyright violation is a scan of the invitation from the Historical collection of the Museum of Vojvodinian Slovaks in Bački Petrovac (Vojvodina, Serbia), and has its own inventory number, provided in the description. The invitation refers to Slovak national festivities, annual festival organized by the Slovak minority in Serbia since 1919. The festival takes place in Bački Petrovac, the same town where the Museum is located. And, naturally, Museum has dozens of invitations to the Festivities collected over the past century. So I didn't take it from some random Facebook page, but from the official Museum of Slovaks in Serbia. Le document est entre leur main, et il va revenir bientôt, dans 24h ou 48h pour la plupart. J’ai en tout 279 films dans WD où je vais mettre toutes les données, dont des affiches. C’est un projet particulier du Regroupement des distributeurs indépendants de films du Québec.
Est-ce que tu peux les remettre ? Et je ferai un suivi avec toi du déroulement du processus d’OTRS.

I have uploaded several cartoons on Wikimedia Commons. You have sent a deletion request for my cartoons. You even requested to delete my personal photo and the cartoon where you see me standing at the side of the chessboard. But you did not explain in your message why you have issued a deletion request.
The copyright of those images are with me personally. In 2018 most of those pictures, I paid an artist to make those images, according to my ideas, for my book Artificial Intelligence and Society, A Manifesto to Save our Future. I published the book on www.ai-society.org. This is a website that is owned by me personally. The artist has given the copyright of those images to me (against payment of course). So I am the sole owner of the copyright of those cartoons and of the photo I made from myself.
After comments from readers that my title is not catchy, I changed the title of the book and the website to Taming the AI Beast, a Manifesto to Save our Future. I made a new website under the name www.tamingtheaibeast.org. the domain www.ai-society.org is still owned by me, but it is offline.
I have released the images on several blogs, most notably the last few months on Medium under the account @tamingtheaibeast.org, some on my LinkedIn account under the name Remy van Nieuwenhoven and numerous other places.
But the copyright and first publication is on my own personal name. If necessary, I can send proof of ownership of the websites www.tamingtheaibeast.org and www.ai-society.org. Hi Patrick, Thank you for your concern regarding the images I have been uploading in the last few days to Wikimedia commons. Most of the pictures copyright were given to me by the authors of the artworks. A few were pictures that I took my self. I am sorry if I did not set the right copyright permission when uploading them. I already asked the authors to send an email to permissions to certify they are aware and ok with the photos to be shared in wikimedia. Regarding the book cover I will delete the file. The image is an still from the video produced and now online in Youtube WE LOVE FUTURE, Change, are you ready ? my credits appear on min. 14:12. The video was made to promote sustainability through the testimonies of Brother Paul McAuley and other participants.
Last April 2019, environmental activist Brother Paul was killed and his body burned. I created the article about Brother Paul in the Spanish Wikipedia and uploaded the still image of brother Paul I shot to Wikimedia Commons.
I am the author and owner of those images. The web page of We Love Future (created by Pryzka and Jonathan) mentions a Copyright for the contents, but the image I used was not taken from that web page but from my own archives. Can you undelete it?

Hi Patrick, sorry for my late reaction, but, as we say in my country, I have been out of circulation for more than a half a year. Now its ok, and I am on board again, so I started to check my discussion page and I found your messages. You have reason that there is no proof that artist Elvira López agreed to license the file under the license I gave. It's my fault, I thought that when you don't take a photo of a painting alone, but with the author and is clear that the author is allowing the taking of that photo, that's ok; this is the principle of journalists: when you interview a painter or sculptor and take a photo of him whith his works, the newspaper doesn't require a written permission to print that photo. Well, I now I understand that I was wrong, that Commons is different and need such a permission also in these cases; is true that even is she was aware that the photos were for Commons, she after may have change of opinion. So I will try to contact the artist (I don't live in Chile) asking the permission and then will see what happens. Concerning Costa Rica, I am afraid you are right again, no FoP: the law was changed in 2008 and this concern even graffiti (although these street-art, mostly anonymous and doomed to be destroyed, and copyright, seem to be incompatible things). --Roferbia (talk) 19:52, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

Santiago International Book Fair photos[edit]
Hi again, Patrick. I didn't realize at first that was also you who made the deletion request for this bunch of photos. Well, as I just posted in the deletion request page, I think that the writers photos should not be deleted, and even if the photos are not used in other wikiprojects, they can be used (I am saying this bases on my own experience in Spanish speaking countries) in newspapers from provinces, cultural pages on the internet, reader's clubs, etc. I have covered several international book fairs in past years, and a number of photos from this events in fact have been used outside Wikipedia (unfortunately, I have no record of them because I don't request, as you can see in my uploads, a notification of use, but I have seen some in internet newspapers and I know than in some reader's club they made paper bookmarks whith photos that I shot at the Fair).
I want to continue uploading the photos of the Santiago Fair, and there are many that I will use after uploading them in the corresponding Wikipedia articles (mainly for that purpose I shot the photos), but if you immediately propose them for deletion, then is very difficult to continue, because you have to leave Commons and start working in the articles to avoid deletion. I would never proposed for deletion, for example, photos that are in the Salon du livre de Paris category (Livre Paris) just because they are not in use in Wikipedia, first of all because I don't know in depth the literature situation and life of France and therefore I can't correctly juge about it. The educational purpose concept is a broad thing, as the scope page states; is not as clear as, for example, when you upload photos from a country where there is no FoP (as I wrongly did with Costa Rica) or when you used a wrong license. Well, after been out of circulation, as I told you, for a long time, I want to catch up now and upload the rest of the photos taken in the FILSA.
Finally, I saw that in the bunch of FILSA photos you put at the end two of artist Elvira López (without the photos with her paintings they now don't make much sense; in any case, the cat in the birdcage is like a live installation :) ) . Fortunately I haven't contact her yet, because now I am afraid that if she sends the permission and the photos are restored, the you can think that they are also out of scope. In the bunch of photos that you selected there are two on which one can think that they are private photos, the ones related to Elvira López. She is a fine Chilean painter, and I wouldn't like to be in the uncomfortable situation of obtaining her permission only to see afterwards the photos have been deleted again. So, before I try to contact this painter, please tell me if you intend to propose them again for deletion in the case they are restored or not.

Copyright question[edit]
Unfortunately, I too see the long list of nice images submitted as lacking proper permission. I am curious about one, however, File:14966642231 edf403d44b oedit.jpg. The original was a 500-900 year old painting. The photographer found a way of photographing it (computer enhancement). So...is it a mechanical reproduction of a public domain work, being 500-900 years old (and thus public domain), or is there interpretation in the image (the reason that sculpture photos aren't public domain automatically). I'm not going to suggest either. I respect those who did the work to take the photo, but wonder, if this were a straight photo image revealed by infrared film, would it be public domain or interpretive. Fair use of screenshots old TV-shows[edit]
Dear Patrick.
Thank you for your comment on my talk page! I uploaded a couple of screenshots of old Dutch TV-shows (1988, 1992), of which two of Dutch skeptic Rob Nanninga (and one of Dutch skeptic Jan Willem Nienhuys). Photos of the first are very hard to find, and for this reason, I liked the idea of offering some more. There's only one photo of Nanninga in Wikipedia English, but this was rather right before his death, when he was looking a bit more unhealthy. I am not sure about the "fair use" of screenshots of TV-shows. There must be an angle to use so this is allowed. Of Dutch origin, I am now a US citizen (since 2017), and the differences between all the Wikipedia rights countries are quite hard to understand and to deal with. Maybe if you could help me out, how to get this right, so that no "Fair use" law is "violated". These aren't photos of course, they are screenshots of moving images as in the public realm (TV-shows that are retrievable through the Dutch media archive "Beeld en Geluid").

- This was painted in the late 19th century by Alejandro Witcomb’s studio. In the photograph of the painting "Pedro Firmo Únzaga" (https://imgur.com/06lGJOB), you can see in the upper left corner the signature "Witcomb Fotos" (https://imgur.com/GjJQFuj). Alejandro Witcomb died in 1905, that is, this painting is over 100 years old.
- The photograph of the painting was taken, cut and edited by me. And the painting is exhibited in the Museo Histórico Provincial (Provincial Historical Museum) "Orestes Di Lullo" in Santiago del Estero, Argentina. In one of its galleries, the paintings of the governors of the province of Santiago del Estero are displayed, including Pedro Únzaga's painting. All were made by the Witcomb company. Thanks for the insight.
I read the COM:SCOPE page and the Upload Wizard. Those pages don't say that I have to have a contribution on other sister projects in order to upload photos. It does say that I have to own the copy rights and be willing to allow others to use the photos, which I have agreed to.
Please note, the pictures uploaded today are a part of a project for a non-profit school and some of my older pictures are being used by other wiki sites (both of them being non-English speaking sites. One site is uk.wikipedia.org Вінтаж (мода) and the other is Usage on ja.wikipedia.org ギャル).

Questioning your "missing evidence of permission" deletion[edit]
Hi again, maybe you missed the response on my talk page, and it'd be a shame if we lost a good and not easily replaceable photo from Commons by mistake. Can you explain why you've flagged File:The Bugle Live (LR)-28.jpg as "missing evidence of permission", when the uploader clearly claims to have taken it themselves? - You say "the original file is still missing permission", but what permission are you asking for? User:Kriskina uploaded the photo, credited it to User:Kriskina and described the source as "Own work"? If they'd credited it to someone else then Commons would require that person's permission to be clearly stated, but they haven't done that. I care if someone is using deletion templates incorrectly. It deters uploaders, wastes the time of administrators, and may even result in valid photos being deleted in error. I was using Attribution Share-Alike on Flickr and supposed that would be the same on commons??. I am following it on the exact same format pages like Tommy Talau is used & to be honest who is going to take me or wikipedia to court over images like that?? it's informative to the wikipedia page otherwise who needs this commons thing. Is this something only professional photographers use or something? How can I fix it or should I just stop all together. Why don't you now find the exact same images and upload them? Hi Patrick, thanks for your remark on fair use. Now, how could I get the covers to be displayed on Wikipedia ? Because of course, that's the goal. There are many books with covers on their WP pages. Hi Patrick, I tried to store the image on the English Wikipedia, then found I could store it on the French one without being on Commons, and entered some explanations about fair use. I'll try and find the paints authors if they're mentioned somewhere. So I added the French version to the article. Is it OK ? And if OK, how can I delete the English version of the file ? The photographer uploaded the file and there is no reason to believe that a WMF staff member used a fake account or made someone other than the photographer upload the file. Wikimedia Commons isn't another work by Franz Kafka. Bureaucracy and enforcing rules isn't a goal itself. The fact that a subject uses a much smaller resolution at Linkedin is hardly a reason to assume that the file is a copyright violation. I will close the DR as kept. If you continue this behavior you could be blocked from editing. Please understand that what you are doing is considered disruptive. Patrick, ik heb eindelijk bericht (na 5 weken en 4 herinneringen van mijn kant), dat de foto's van ArtZuid niet geplaatst mogen worden. Ik heb daarom een mail naar Wikimedia gezonden om ze te verwijderen (de hele categorie weg). Ik heb ArtZuid wel geschreven dat ze voortaan wel wat sneller moeten reageren, als ze serieus genomen willen worden. Het stak me voornamelijk dat de foto's nu dus weg moeten, toevallig in de week dat de tentoonstelling afloopt. Ik heb ook gevraagd een aantal foto's te herstellen, want die beelden waren wel deel in de tentoonstelling, maar staan al jaren in en om het winkelcentrum. Rispondo dicendo che il bene in oggetto è inserito DA VOI nella lista dei beni fotografabili, infatti è stato possibile caricarlo dalla VOSTRA pagina preposta. Per quanto mi riguarda il monumento è stato liberato, peiche' siete stati VOI a comunicarcelo. Di Conseguenza ritengo tali immagini non vadano eliminate e qualora si proceda all'eliminazione delle stesse, ritirerò tutte le foto caricate di questa edizione e ritirerò la licenza anche per le fotografie caricate nelle edizioni passate. Spero di ricevere a breve una risposta, tenendo conto che non è carino ricevere una mail dove non cè la possibilità diretta di rispondere al mittente ma questa procedura poco intuitiva e complicata. The treasures were open to the public for viewing and taking pictures. I contributed my captured photos to the Wikimedia Commons in my willingness to help other people in their necessities to use it. However, I linked to the image source page which contains explicit permission that the subject has released the image under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License. The “Parisian Life” painting of Juan Luna[edit]
Sir/Madam, please consider to remove from your deletion the photo of painting of Juan Luna entitled “The Parisian Life”. The artist was gone 120 years ago. I believe that the consent to the heirs is no longer needed. The photo is displayed also in Philippine National Museum of Fine Arts and open for public viewing. These violations have been unknowingly caused by me. I have uploaded these images on the lines of images mentioned below:
- File:Mihir Vardhan.jpg and File: Baby Rani Maurya.jpg have been uploaded following the example of File:Administrator of Lakshadweep Farooq Khan.jpg
- File:Gopal Swaroop Pathak.jpg, File:Gulzarilal Nanda.jpg and File:Charan Singh.jpg have been uploaded following the example of File:Amit shah official portrait.jpg
- File:Chakravarthy Rajagopalachari.jpg, File:Jayprakash Narayan.jpg and File:Jaiprakash Narayan.jpg have been uploaded following the example of File:Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy in 1943.jpg
All the images given as examples were reviewed by various administrators or reviewers. What I don't understand is why different administrators have different approach regarding image policies. I am helping John Holmstrom who created the images - I have uploaded them and then I am sending the email generated by permissions-commons@wikimedia.org to John for him to forward on and consequently put into the cc as required. However by the time I upload them, write the descriptions, generate the email and send it to John and he (being in a different timezone) has replied you have deleted them. And then it gets rejected - this is extremely frustrating as there is meant to eb a 7 day grace I am told.

Hi Patrick, I speedy close this request. Let's say that this is a friendly reminder not to nominate anymore files that already have a permission. This holds for WLM, and similar campaigns. - Ok, let's analyse together the template below.
This is a photo of a monument which is part of cultural heritage of Italy. This monument participates in the contest Wiki Loves Monuments Italia 2019. See authorisations.(wiki-ID: 16A6620051)It is written clearly "See authorisations." at the end of the sentence, right before the WLM id, which is the last link. If you click on the "authorisations" word, you'll see the list of all the autorisations for Italian monuments (in theory, the same happens for all the other countries). In that list, you must search for the location of the monument (Bari in this case), and there, for the list of monuments for which we have a permission. The storage of permissions can be done better, but what is important is that there is a permission somewhere for this monument. Moreover, it is a permission that everybody can check, so there are no excuses.
I don't know to which files you are referring to, but if I proposed some files for deletion, it is that I had checked the permissions first. Apparently, you haven't. Thus proposing blindly WLM files for deletion on unchecked copyright bases is just an act of vandalism. Bye --Ruthven (msg) 14:10, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
- Ok, I've corrected the French template, and it should display with the link). FYI, all monuments in the WLM campaign have a written permission (that's the whole point of the campaign), in Italy, France, and the rest of the word. I am talking about vandalism because such behaviour goes against the spirit of the project, aiming at destroying the contributions of the other users. On thing is to check the copyright of a work, another is being nominating for deletion without checking anything.
- Wrt the files I nominated, it's because the specific permission authorised photographs the building only, not for the single recent artworks in the museum. But I could know that only by checking first, of course, and it would have been silly just to open a DR without reason. --Ruthven (msg) 15:22, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Hi Patrick, I did those pictures and followed the copyright CC BY-SA 3.0 Leonardo Franco is a brazilian actor and those pictures are free for use. For example on actor Brad Pitt wiki it's used the same copyright. Vážená paní Valeria Domínguez,
nemůžu pochopit co si to dovolujete a co si o sobě myslíte, že opět chcete další a další informace, aby jste uveřejnili jednu fotografii, která je ve vlastnictví naší společnosti ALL STARS CUP z.s. a jejím autorem pan Pavel Lebeda. Nejdříve nám fotografii vymazal Patrick Rogel a přesto, že pan Lebeda potvrdil dle jeho pokynů a taktéž jako v minulosti jste se ke komunikaci přihlásila Vy a naprosto drze požadujete další aktivity ze strany pana Lebedy i přesto, že v minulosti to bylo pro Vaše kolegy dostačující. Buďte tak LASKAVÁ a vraťte foto na místo kam patří a tj. ALL STARS CUP 2019, když jste se tak aktivně k celé věci a komunikaci s Rogelem přihlásila.
