Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

The 2013 Picture of the Year competition has ended and we are pleased to announce the results: We shattered participation records this year — more people voted in Picture of the Year 2013 than ever before. In both rounds, 4070 different people voted for their favorite images. Additionally, there were more image candidates (featured pictures) in the contest than ever before (962 images total).

• In the first round, 2852 people voted for all 962 files
• In the second round, 2919 people voted for the 50 finalists (the top 30 overall and top 2 in each category)

We congratulate the winners of the contest and thank them for creating these beautiful images and sharing them as freely licensed content:

1. 157 people voted for the winner, an image of a lightbulb with the tungsten filament smoking and burning.

Filenames

Hi. I notice you've been doing a lot of uploads today, many of which have meaningless names. Two years from now, how is anyone supposed to know what "BSS 4519 (10890073886).jpg" is? Or "BSS 4331 (10889932965).jpg", or "BSS 4286 (10889923405).jpg", or "BSS 4243 (10889609535).jpg"? Please give the images some sort of specific name so that they can be identified by humans. I realize that you're taking these images from Flickr, but if you don't know what the image is, then how could it possibly be useful? Even 'street in Budapest, 2013' or 'building in Budapest, 2013' would be better than 'BSS 4519 (10890073886)' or 'BSS 4612 (10890108645)'. DS (talk) 13:28, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

Spelling question

Hi! I've got a spelling question about wheelchair fencer en:Richard Osvath. Osvath was born in Satu Mare and belongs to the Hungarian minority in Romania, but he represents Hungary in international competitions. I saw that you did the translation for the Commons:Photo challenge page to Hungarian and wanted to tell you that if you are interested there are a few texts for this project that would need translation. If you are, those texts would be: a) the page itself was just actualised, b) we started to translate the challenge descriptions themselves (so far only with langswitch), and c) I just posted translations to French and English for the watchlist notice (MediaWiki talk:WatchlistNotice - the last entry), where other languages could be added.

Szia!

1. Nem én találtam ki őket, láttam másoktól. Meg aztán vannak ugye olyan kategóriák, amelyek eleve ilyenek, pl. a színész/nő, király/nő stb.

2. Ezáltal csökkenteni lehet az olyan mammutkategóriákban lévő kategóriák számát, mint például Men/women of országnév, mert ezekben renszerint túl sokan vannak. Ezzel a fajta kategóriával be lehet tenni őket a ~by occupation kategóriába, ami szerintem sokkal arányosabb elosztást tesz lehetővé. Az amerikai színésznők kategórijában például még további szétbontást kérő üzenet is van, mert még így is túl sokan vannak, hogy nincs mindenki benne. Persze az kulturális okokból speciális eset, de akkor is. Például magyar politikusokból is túl sok van (az, hogy személy szerint erről mit gondolok, az most nem tartozik ide).

Új építésű templomról készült képek Erdélyben

Szia! Figyelmetlenségből áthoztam ma néhány képet a huwikiről egy új építésű gyergyószentmiklósi templomról, és mivel Romániában nincs panorámaszabadság, valószínűleg törölni kell őket. A templombelsőkről készült képek némelyike azonban talán mégis megmaradhat, ezért úgy gondoltam, nem töröltetem azonnalival, hanem kiírok egy törlési megbeszélést róluk. Sosem csináltam azonban még ilyet, az angolom is elég gyenge, és nem nagyon tudok kiigazodni ezen az lapon. Segítenél valami módon esetleg? Vagy az is jó, ha te magad kiírod a megbeszélést. Persze, ha szerinted biztosan mindegyiket törlik, akkor nem érdemes vesződni velük. A képek az alábbi linkeken vannak:

Einladung zur Teilnahme an Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in Deutschland

Hallo Einstein2!

Du erhältst diese Nachricht, weil du bei Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 teilgenommen hast.

Auch in diesem Jahr beteiligt sich Deutschland wieder am internationalen Fotowettbewerb rund um Bau- und Kulturdenkmale. Bisher wurden bereits mehr als 18.000 Bilder hochgeladen – und wir würden uns sehr über weitere Bilder von Dir freuen. Noch bis zum 30. September 2016 kannst Du Deine Bilder hochladen. Alles Wissenswerte erfährst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.

Außerdem möchten wir Dich einladen, ab 12. September 2016 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Diese sichtet und bewertet die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelt so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die im Oktober tagt, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in Deutschland.

@Globetrotter19: Értem, ez esetben elvileg egy jogvédett alkotás származékos művének számít, amire ugyanúgy érvényesek a szerzői jogok. Ezt azonban szerintem felülírja, hogy egy állandó jelleggel felállított információs tábláról van szó és Magyarországon panorámaszabadság van, tehát elvileg a teljes tábla fotójának és a kivágott részletnek is szabad licenc alatt feltölthetőnek kellene lennie. A törlő viszont ezt valószínűleg figyelmen kívül hagyta, lehetne szólni neki, hogy valószínűleg helyreállítható a fájl. – Einstein2 (talk) 14:26, 3 April 2017 (UTC)

Jól értem, hogy eredetileg a jelenlegitől eltérő képet töltöttél fel a művésznőről, ami a napló szerint jogsértő volta miatt törölve lett, majd ugyanezen a néven egy másik, jogtiszta képet töltöttél fel? Ha igen, akkor szerintem bátran átnevezheted, mert ha jól tudom, akkor az újból létrehozott lap átnevezésekor a korábban törölt lappal kapcsolatos naplóbejegyzések maradnak az eredeti helyükön. Egyébként szerintem az átnvevezés sem feltétlenül szükséges, valószínűleg gyakran előfordul, hogy korábban törölt kép helyett egy másik képet töltenek fel ugyanazon a néven. Mondván ezek [1] és [File:Two-storey_residential_building._%27Chimera-Project_Gallery_%26_Tourism_Specialized_Library_from_East_-_Budapest_District_VII._Klauz%C3%A1l_Square_5.JPG] képek amik citroeneket ábrázolnak szerinte nem kell kategorizálni mindezt visszaállítással 'jelezte'. @MarMarksman-on: Mind a Budavári Labirintus, mind pedig a Labyrinth of Buda Castle szócikkek törölve lettek (Richard Keatinge), akitől kértük az egyéb adalékok törlését is, merthogy további visszaélésekre és csalásokra sarkall meghatározott szerkesztőket. Ha valami nem nevezetes, annak részei sem azok. Ráadásul számtalan kép idejét múlta, mert a térplasztikákat elbontották. Írják meg a Drakula bűnsegédei angolul a Budai Vár-barlang szócikket, s abba az írnak és tesznek, amit csak akarnak, de szálljanak le a Budavári Labirintus anyagának csaló felhasználásáról. @Globetrotter19: Ha más helyen láttad, akkor ott is valamilyen gubanc van. ;) Ugyanazon a néven csak a fotónak egy javított/vágott változatát szokták feltölteni, ha egy másik fényképről van szó, azt célszerűbb egy másik fájlként feltölteni. Egyébként sajnos én is sokszor tapasztaltam, hogy (talán a projekt mérete miatt) a Commonson a legtöbb megbeszélés már-már gépiesen folyik le, és néha úgy tűnhet, hogy a résztvevők/eljárók konstruktív szándék nélkül tevékenykednek. Én azt tanácsolom, hogy töltsd fel újra a fényképed (egy más néven), azzal mindenki csak nyer! :) – Einstein2 (talk) 11:40, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

A magyaróvári Gazdasági Akadémia relief-panteonjának a képei feltölthetők?

Fehérgyarmati kulturház plakátjai

Érdeklődnék, hogy a fehérgyarmati kulturház szervezte események, rendezvények plakátjai feltölthetők-e? Nem fop, nem pd old kategóra az biztos. A plakátok mind 5 és 50 év közöttiek, egy részük csak szöveges, de van 'mintás' is (nem tudom ez számít-e). Ottjártamkor az épület földszinti csarnokában voltak kiálítva. Pl. ez is File:Gábor Dénes FalkMiksau30.jpg, mert ezt Szenti Tamás a wikipédiáról vitte át gondoltam akkor 'okés' (ezért én is 'feltettem' File:Gábor Dénes, a holográfia feltalálója emléktábla (2000), Falk Miksa utca 30, 2017 Lipótváros.jpg). Ezen is van hologram (a felső részén, csak épp nincs ketegórizálva). Amúgy a 'derivative work'-ről eddig én úgy tudtam, hogy az ún. származtatott mű, pl egy kép részlete. A második szerint. Az a lényeges, hogy beltérben készült

A harmadik szerint. A hologram fotó. A nem lényeges, hogy beltérben készült. A hologram alapú műalkotás (vagyis az én képem) fotózásásával kapcsolatban egy kormányszerv (Szerzői Jogi Szakértői Testület) véleménye a mérvadó.

@Globetrotter19: Szia! Az új fájlnév a kép eredetijének címét tükrözi, amely az Unsplash nevű tárhelyen található meg: [3]. Számomra úgy tűnik, az átnevező szándéka az volt, hogy a commonsos fájlnevet egységesítse ugyaninnen származó többi kép nevével, amelyek hasonló rendszert követnek. A fájlátnevezési indokok közt szerepel az egy bizonyos gyűjteményen belüli fájlok nevének egységesítése is (4. pont), tehát elvileg nem megalapozatlan az átnevezés. A kérdés jelen esetben szerintem az, hogy az egységességnek vagy a kifejező jellegnek kell inkább fő szempontnak lennie a névadásnál. Üdv, Einstein2 (talk) 20:21, 8 October 2018 (UTC)

A fájl átnevezője, Fæ, aki megegyezik a feltöltővel – és aki a több tízezres gyűjtemény legtöbb darabjának feltöltője is egyben – látszólag arra törekedett, hogy ugyanolyan címformátummal rendelkezzenek a kategóriában lévő képek. Ezt figyelembe véve szerintem nem jelent olyan nagy előnyt a korábbi cím a jelenlegivel szemben, hogy kardoskodjunk az átnevezés ellen. Ezenkívül az unsplashes címet valószínűleg a fotós adta, a kép pedig látszólag művészi igényű, emiatt is érdemes lehet az alkotás címét használni a fájlnévben. Az igaz hogy lengyel iskolának épült, de az épület felirata 'Lengyel-Magyar Barátság Háza'...és gondolom vagy 70 éve kultúrház (értsd a világháború vége óta). Szóval a másik név szerintem kissé félrevezető.

Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

• To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
• To perform file name swaps.
• When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Deși trecem prin momente dificile în aceste vremuri imprevizibile generate de pandemia de COVID-19, competiția Wiki Loves Monuments are loc și anul acesta, implicit și în România.

Am fi încântați dacă ați participa și în acest an la documentarea fotografică a patrimoniului nostru cultural construit. Întrucât o carantină nu este programată în România, puteți să ieșiți în continuare să faceți fotografii - luând toate măsurile de siguranță recomandate de autoritățile locale de sănătate. Dacă preferați să evitați ieșirile, cu siguranță aveți fotografii cu monumente înregistrate pe calculator din ultima călătorie! Aceasta este o oportunitate excelentă de a le oferi o a doua viață prin concursului Wiki Loves Monuments. Pe lângă faptul că vor fi vizibile pentru toată lumea, fotografiile dumneavoastră ar putea reprezenta România în competiția internațională. De asemenea ele pot apărea în diverse articole la Wikipedia și pot contribui la conservarea online a patrimoniului cultural și istoric al României.
