How to apply to organize it in Coimbra - Portugal? — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 95.95.116.198 (talk) 15:59, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi. If you are interested to (help) organize WLM 2017 in Portugal, please add Portugal in one of the two lists. Make sure you sign in to your Wikimedia account before editing that page, and make sure other users can contact you by email (go to Preferences and make sure under email options you check the box that says "Enable email from other users"). This will allow the international WLM team to contact you and help you get started. --LilyOfTheWest (talk) 04:29, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

Prize for most uploads

Whether there is a separate gift for the person who uploaded the most photos.--Soghomon Matevosyan (talk) 13:35, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

This question was originally asked on Category talk:Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 and moved here. Effeietsanders (talk) 23:15, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the question, Soghomon Matevosyan. In some countries the person with the most photos or the most unique monuments uploaded, gets a special prize. However, on the international level there is no such prize. This is because this kind of prizes can only be organized in a specific context with more or less similar circumstances. A contributor from Germany has very different opportunities than a person participating in India (with much fewer monuments). So please check out the specific country pages of the countries you're interested in, to see if they offer such a prize. Effeietsanders (talk) 23:17, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Uganda

Hi my name is Geoffrey Kateregga, I am part of the Wikimedia Uganda User Group and we would like to participate in Wiki Loves Monuments 2017. Please let me know if we can still be added to the list of the Definitely Participating countries and what we have to do get on the list.

Thanks

Kateregga1 (talk) 12:35, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

@Kateregga1: Hey Geoffrey, thanks for your question! Yes, it is still possible to add your country, you'd be more than welcome! You can just add your country here, and I'd be happy to give you a bit introduction in a video call (hangout/skype) sometime soon, if that helps. You can find some explanations here. If you send me an email, we can plan a quick meeting. Effeietsanders (talk) 21:26, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

Wikidata and Upload Wizard

I'm reaching out to you for some guidance on how to incorporate our Monument Data which is now in Wikidata with the Upload Wizard. In previous years, we had no data on Wikidata and manually input information of each monument into the Upload Wizard. Is there any easy way to incorporate the two? Any guidance you can provide would be helpful. Shannon Eichelberger (talk) 19:16, 12 August 2017 (UTC)

@Sameichel: Hey Shannon, we will take care of this. Can we do a hangout next week? I will show you how the flow will work. Cheers, Yarl 💭  02:35, 16 August 2017 (UTC)
@Yarl: Hi Yarl, that's great news!! We can certainly arrange a meeting next week. I am free at anytime from Monday-Wednesday and after 16:00 UTC+1 on Thursday and Friday. Let me know what day/time suits. Cheers! Shannon Eichelberger (talk) 19:23, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

Basque Country

Hello. A little bit late, but we're interested in organizing for the first time a Basque WLM campaign. I have translated everything in using es-eus and fr-eus campaigns. The idea would be tracking the uploads made in this campaigns, despite they'll be uploaded with the French Merimée and the spanish BIC codes. I'm currently working on the landing page and the templates needed to upload to commons in the correct category. -Theklan (talk) 16:35, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

Thanks Theklan,
I'm pinging Romaine for this also, because he's our Master of Banners and Campaigns :) What I think should be possible here, but Romaine should confirm, is to have a campaign set up for all users that have their language set to Basque. However, we cannot determine on a sub-national level by IP-address where people are from, so if they would have their browser settings on Spanish or French, they would be brought to the national (Spain/France) page. For the judging, we'd take the same approach as for Catalan: this will have to happen through the Spanish/French juries. (you don't mention this, but I want to make sure we're on one page :)). It is great to see this extra effort to promote Basque heritage though, and this campaign can help to promote that. You could consider a 'special award' for Basque heritage - and set up a jury for that. I suggest you check with ÀlexHinojo for sharing some experiences with what worked well for them. Please also make sure to coordinate with the Spanish and French organizing teams, to ensure that there is no clash in communications. Thanks! Effeietsanders (talk) 17:20, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Effeietsanders! About banners, yes, it could be browser language based or Wikipedia based, maybe. About judging, yes, I have been in contact with ÀlexHinojo specially on this topic and yes, I know that Spanish/French juries will make the effort to evaluate them. We have been starting with this, so maybe in this month we can get an sponsor for this "special award", but it would take some time to know whether is possible or not. My main concern now is the Campaigns issue. All the templates are done, the Landing Page is done (and I think that is a great one!)... and we only need this campaign set to start with communications, basically on Basque-language blogs and newspapers. Thanks! -Theklan (talk) 20:25, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
@Theklan: Thanks. Just to confirm, you're also in touch with the French and Spanish teams? Effeietsanders (talk) 20:58, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
@Effeietsanders: Not with the french one! -Theklan (talk) 20:59, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
@Theklan: Wow! Love the landing page in Basque! We will copy the style for next year's edition. --ÀlexHinojo (talk) 21:14, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
@Romaine: , @Effeietsanders: ... any news on Campaign:wlm-es-eus? We are going to start promotion tomorrow, and I want to know if this will be possible! -Theklan (talk) 22:12, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
@VIGNERON: into this discussion. On the campaigns, I'll leave it to Romaine. Effeietsanders (talk) 22:24, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
Hello VIGNERON! Basque Wikimedians User Group is organizing for the very first time WLM and as we talked with Rubén Ojeda we are also contributing to Spanish and French projects, inserting two templates whenever an image is uploaded from our campaign site. It will be tracked by you, with the correct categories, and also by us. We have everything ready except the Campaign:wlm-es-eus and Campaign:wlm-fr-eus campaigns, that must be done by Romaine (I think). We are also in negotiations for a price for the best photo of the fr:Pays basque français, but could take some days to get the confirmation. -Theklan (talk) 22:37, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
Kaixo Theklan,
Great news, I'm very happy to see you participate this year. Is there is anything I can do to help?
Just to be sure to understand for all the monument in the Basque Country, there should be two template : wlm-eu and wlm-fr (or wlm-es). On your side through your campaigns your adding automatically the fr or es template but do you also track the import through our sides to add manually the eu template?
I see that you already have lists on eu.wp, great! Here is the query on Wikidata is you want to compare or visualise on a map : http://tinyurl dot com/y7w6y6z9 and http://tinyurl dot com/yc7r4e4b
Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 07:54, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
Hey VIGNERON! On our side we were only uploading them with our campaign and adding both wlm-eu and wlm-fr. But if you actually CAN tag also the ones that are uploaded on your side with the wlm-eu... wow! that would be fantastic! -Theklan (talk) 14:28, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
Hi Theklan, As Effeietsanders already said. I will make sure that people in Spain or France viewing Wikipedia/etc in Basque, will get a banner linked to the Basque WLM page.
As indicated on my talk page, only one template is inserted for Basque uploads. The template adds two categories. I will do an extra check to make sure everything works. If there are any issues, please contact me directly on my talk page. Romaine (talk) 16:19, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
Thanks every one! -Theklan (talk) 16:21, 30 August 2017 (UTC)

I would like you to add Mongolia in this campaign.

Hi I'm Boyusha from Mongolia. This is the 1st time that I've known this campaign. So got surprised that my country is not here. Mongolia is one of the largest territory country and has a lot of Monuments. So I'd be thankful if Mongolia is in. Thanks. Bayarlalaa, Баяртай. Boyusha

Query

I uploaded the picture for monument category but it is not visible under participants list. What to do?

Mudrika Singhal (talk) 06:40, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

@Mudrika Singhal: Thank you for your submission. Can you share how you arrived at this upload button? You used the generic non-competition upload button, which does not enter your picture into the competition. I added it manually for you, but would like to understand where you took a wrong turn, so that we can improve the process. Effeietsanders (talk) 08:31, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 Doubt

I have uploaded 7 images but https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikiloves/monuments/2017/India shows 6 as my total uploads.

The https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikiloves/images?event=monuments&year=2017&country=India&user=Suzane007 page is showing only 2 pics same as in User:OgreBot/Uploads_by_new_users/2017_September_01_16:30.

However https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikiloves/images?event=monuments&year=2017&country=India displays all of my images.

Why my pics are missing in https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikiloves/images?event=monuments&year=2017&country=India&user=Suzane007? Suzane007 (talk) 22:50, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

@Suzane007: Hey, thanks for participating! According to your upload log you only uploaded 6 files. Something must have gone wrong with the seventh. All six seem to be properly tagged with the template. The tool indeed does not show the full overview, and you should not rely on it. It only shows images where you edited the last version - in your case a bot edited your filed a few times, because there was an error in your metadata. Nothing to worry about, but that is why it looked funny. Effeietsanders (talk) 15:03, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

Where do I send the photos?

88.203.20.167 08:05, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

@88.203.20.167: , find here the country which photo(s) you want to upload of, click on the link to check whether the monument which is on your photo is on the list and what is its ID, and then upload it (follow the link from the monument list or directly from the page I linked to).--Ymblanter (talk) 08:31, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

Where are my photos?

I joined WLM yesterday 4th September and uploaded several photos from my collection. Only two have appeared on the interactive map turning the red pin to blue. BUT this has not happened for the following photos: Arden Hall, Brooklands, Sale; St Andrew's Church, Church Aston and St Mary's Church, Whixall (both Shropshire). Why is this? All pins are still red. Also what happens if a second photo is submitted for the same location? I submitted two for Arden Hall. I also submitted my photo for Sale & Brooklands Cemetery Chapel although there was already a photo by someone else. My photo is not even in the search for photos submitted by Gammock.

Gammock (talk) 14:15, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

@Gammock: Thank you for your participation! Your images have to be manually connected/confirmed to the monument. You identified it, but it requires a sanity check. In some countries, this happens more rapidly than in others. This is probably why there is a delay in the color change of the pin. There is no objection to submitting multiple pictures of the same monument - that is even encouraged. That way, we have pictures from multiple angles and of multiple aspects. Effeietsanders (talk) 14:19, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
@Gammock: Effeietsanders is absolutely right, it can take a while for the pins get updated since it involves another person coming along and double checking. You're more than welcome to upload multiple images of places, since you often need to see a place from several angles to get a feel for it. And well done on the competition's first submissions from Sale (where I grew up so I'm delighted to see some excellent photos!) Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 14:50, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

Where are my uploaded files?

Ashokmehta72 (talk) 22:20, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

Uploading Question

First, I'm sorry, I know I messed this up. If It can't be fixed I will understand and I will try to reshoot. I have never participated in a Wiki Loves Monuments before and I used the wrong uploader. Ohio State Office Building and Central High School were uploaded through a standard uploader and not the Wiki Loves Monuments uploader. Is there any way this can be fixed? Thank you Sixflashphoto (talk) 22:13, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi @Sixflashphoto: As an Ohioan, great pics! Thanks for contributing :) You can always submit photos manually with Template:Wiki Loves Monuments 2017; for the United States, it's {{Wiki Loves Monuments 2017|us}} - or, even better, tag the state with {{Wiki Loves Monuments 2017|us-oh}}. I've gone ahead and added this for both of your files, so they're good to go. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 22:59, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Result Dates

By when the results will be out ? and how would one know about it ? Gaurav.gawand (talk) 15:23, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

@Gaurav.gawand: The announcements for national competitions may vary. Some countries may want to organize a ceremony later, and keep it confidential until then. The national competitions make their nominations to the international jury by 30 October, after which the international jury process starts. We expect to announce the international winners before medio December. Effeietsanders (talk) 04:15, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

Uploaded images not showing in List of Historic Places

Hi. I have uploaded 39 images since September 4. None of them have shown up on the List of Historic Places. Am I doing something wrong? I appreciate any assistance anyone can give. Regards, Kirk McDougall (talk) 04:07, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

@Kirk McDougall: , the images do not make it to the lists automatically. Volunteers will eventually add them (this could take some time, may be even months); you can help and go ahead and add them yourself if the monuments you uploaded have no photos in the lists.--Ymblanter (talk) 14:44, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

In Australia can places on the State heritage registers also be submitted?

Hi, the list of qualifying heritage sites provided is VERY limited. Can places on entered on State heritage registers also be submitted for Wiki Loves Monuments? Vascovic (talk) 12:21, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

@Vascovic: You're more than welcome to upload photos of state sites to Wikimedia Commons. However this year, only the National and Commonwealth heritage sites can be submitted to the competition. This is the first year Australia is participating, and unfortunately not all state lists are publicly available at this point in time. If they become available, they can be used next year. Your help with this is probably appreciated. If you're interested, I would suggest to reach out to the main organizer, Gnangarra. Effeietsanders (talk) 12:36, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

Question in Ukranian

@Antanana: Perhaps this is a question you could respond to? Effeietsanders (talk) 20:16, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
Тут можете прочитати детальніше: Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in Ukraine/uk --アンタナナ 20:26, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

philosoff (talk) 16:55, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

Дякую.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Андрій Ямщинський (talk • contribs)

Maximum number of photos sent by one person

Please let me know how many photos can I (as a person or a single ID) send to the competition? I there any limit of number of photos to be sent by one person? If yes, is it possible to take a picture back in order to replace it by a more suitable one? If these questions are answered in your FAQ section, kindly send me the link, I will read it there.

Hello Ghazala Shah, No, there is no limit in number of photos you can share. You are free to share as many photos as you like. We also recommend to have multiple photos of the same object, to illustrate multiple perspectives or details of the object. Romaine (talk) 17:27, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

@PeterAlanKupfer: what is your question? Effeietsanders (talk) 06:10, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
PeterAlanKupfer's question was hidden in a comment; here it is: "I want to upload several photos of Grand Prismatic Spring at Yellowstone National Park, but when I used that file name your system tells me that filename is already in use. What should I do?"
@PeterAlanKupfer: To answer your question, you'll have to come up with an alternative file name. Perhaps a more descriptive one (e.g. View from south of Grand Prismatic Spring), or adding a number at the end (e.g. Grand Prismatic Spring at Yellowstone National Park 2). ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 19:39, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

I wish Hong Kong could Participate :(

Why can't they? — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 49.177.220.236 (talk) 09:35, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

@49.177.220.236: Thanks for your interest. Only countries where a local team organizes the competition, can participate. Hong Kong's monument system is organized separately from that of China, and therefore would participate separately. This year, no team is organizing it. But if you're interested to help out next year in Hong Kong, you can leave your contact details at Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2018. Effeietsanders (talk) 00:29, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Photos not available on map

Hi, I have uploaded some photos of Grade II buildings using the upload feature in the Wiki Loves Monumnets map. They do not change the icon grom red to blue or show the photos . The photos are available on your servers here https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Search&profile=images&search=Eccy+Snapper&fulltext=1&searchToken=ay8ocp9si5bztrgalf3mlh218 please help - I am a new user and it is very confusing.

Eccy Snapper (talk) 18:52, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

@Eccy Snapper: Hey, thanks for participating! The images won't show up until someone has manually confirmed that the images are indeed of the monument and connected them. This may require quite a bit of time in a busy period like this. Effeietsanders (talk) 00:27, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Do I need Land Owner's Permission to take Photos of Private and Commercial Property

1-Can I take photos of Private Residences without permission from the owner and upload them to Wikipedia?

2-Can I take photos of Commercial Property without permission from the owner and upload them to Wikipedia?

Not sure if this is important but I live in Canada.

Thank you for your time. Regards, Kirk McDougall (talk) 15:49, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

@Kirk McDougall: Hi Kirk McDougall, to participate in the event (WLM), you must take pictures of officials historicals monuments. Here is the link: Lists of historic places in Canada. Antoine2711 (talk) 21:34, 7 September 2017 (UTC)
Antoine, I think the question is not so much about what objects can be photographed but whether permission is needed from the owners of the monuments. I'm not entirely certain about the Canadian situation, but I believe generally it is ok to photograph objects from public terrain, without permission of the owners. Important is that one has to respect the privacy of those living in a building (generally this means don't take pictures through the windows). If privacy is respected I believe the owner of a building does not have any (or any relevant) claims to pictures of the building, this would normally be the architect (this is not much of an issue in Canada due to Freedom of Panorama). Basvb (talk) 22:44, 7 September 2017 (UTC)
A substantial percentage of the listed heritage sites in Australia are of military facilities or within military bases - photography of these sites is illegal without gaining approval from the relevant military authorities - this includes facilities that can be observed from public areas. Detailed information on photography rights and restrictions in Australia is provided here. --AusTerrapin (talk) 15:49, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Is this an annual contest held every September?

Hi,

I am only now hearing of this contest, on September 20th, 2017, and would like to know if this contest is held every year in the United States. If it is, I will surely make note of photographing every historical site I come across and organizing the photos accordingly. I only ask because it wasn't explicitly clear if this is an annual contest or not, especially since I've never heard of it before.

Thank you,

Aashil R. 69.21.2.142 20:44, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi @69.21.2.142: It is an annual event, though not all countries participate every year. Fortunately Wiki Loves Monuments 2018 should be happening in the United States. As a US organizer, thanks for your interest - we'll look forward to your photos next year! ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 21:39, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

Adding proper designation

I added a photo of the Washington Monument, but did not include the proper NRHP information. How can I add that? Milesmad (talk) 15:10, 21 September 2017 (UTC) p

Hi @Milesmad: You can always see your previous contributions and uploads at Special:Contributions/Milesmad, and you can edit the descriptions of any of your previous files by going to the file's page and selecting the "Edit" tab at the top.
To add the NRHP number, you can add the NRHP template to the description (formatted as {{NRHP|<NUMBER}}) In this case, the Washington Monument's NRHP number is 66000035, so you would add {{NRHP|66000035}} to the description. If you have any more questions, please feel free to reply. Thanks, ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 19:38, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

Will this competition take place next year because I didn't knew about this and September is at its end now & I really wish to participate in this at least once :) 182.64.80.225 07:59, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

Yep! Wiki Loves Monuments is an annual event, and will be happening again next year. It does vary by country, however, as each country has its own organizing team; some countries participate every year, some may not participate next year, and we might see some new faces next year. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 19:34, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

Upload doesn't seem to be working

I am attempting to use the WLM uploader and have gotten as far as entering titles, descriptions and NRHP numbers but the next button doesn't seem to be working. Is it possible it worked and the page just isn't changing? Is there a way to see if my uploads got entered?

The content is several photographs of the Point Cabrillo Light Station in Caspar, CA, NRHP #91001092. I am uploading via an iPhone 6e using Safari.

@Tetana Skarupa: Sorry, I don't speak Russian. From Google Translate I understand that you uploaded images, and that you don't see them appear in the lists. This is possible, the images have to be manually confirmed and added to the list. This may take a while. You can see your uploads here. Effeietsanders (talk) 22:37, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

Incorrect wikidata tag rediect

Have been uploading via the wizard, sometimes the wikidata entry shown after upload is unexpected

eg https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Auld_Kirk_Burial_Ground.jpg ( UK monument ) geotag and listed building nr are correct however the wikidata entry is being redirected somewhere spurious , in this case a village in Romania. ( Q20836312 -> Q3891367 )

Not sure of the cause of this , existing bad redirect or something not set correctly by wizard / uploader scripts ( have various script blockers installed on browser )

Anyhow upshot is that image wikidata is sometimes spurious and thought it best to flag the issue , I imagine that this could be fixed via the web gui but that would be tedious and the issue may not be confined to my uploads.

I also notice that the map pins view contains spurious / duplicate entries eg https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q17846783 https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q17846802

Both appear refer to the same structure, however the second location is about a mile distant from the first

Hi @Iroberts696: @MichaelMaggs: Digging into it, somehow the wrong Wikidata number got added. Instead of Q20836312 for Auld Kirk Burial Ground, it should have been Q17836312. I'm not sure why this is so I'll check with the person who created the tool. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 14:04, 25 September 2017 (UTC)

Errors on my Upload Page

KatFraKar (talk) 07:50, 27 September 2017 (UTC) I have uploaded approx. 40 photo's to the Commons Wiki Loves Monuments Contest

My problem is that I cannot remove the "two" pictures that seem to be "merged" together on one file or one entry.

I am typing McLoughlin correct and it keeps coming up showing that the spelling is wrong. This is "very" frustrating and I have gone through ALL the McLoughlin names and corrected them, then they still show as errors???

Please help because I would "really" like to share my photo's.

@KatFraKar: Thanks for your uploads. Can you link to the two images you're referring to? What do you mean by "merged together"? If you give us some more information, we will try to help. --LilyOfTheWest (talk) 14:12, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

Uploading photos

I was uploading photos and descriptions of a monument for the photo contest, and after confirming who I was, I was shunted off to a page to either change my email address, or to disassociate it with any content. I didn't want to do either of these things.

And just this form is confusing. I clicked on the Help Desk, and it brings me to a place where I'm supposed to Edit Content? I don't get it, and thus am not sure that I'm in the right place.

Can I enter photos already uploaded to Wikimedia Commons?

I have a few images of us monuments already uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Can I enter those into the competition? If so, how do I do that, as the upload wizard only seems to deal with new uploads. TomFawls (talk) 18:15, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi @TomFawls: Only pics uploaded to the Commons during this month (September) are eligible for Wiki Loves Monuments. Photos you uploaded during September but not yet entered into WLM can be tagged with {{Wiki Loves Monuments 2017|<country code>}} (e.g. in the case of the US, {{Wiki Loves Monuments 2017|us}}). ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 18:34, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
(probably stating the obvious: such tagging should happen before the end of the competition in your country.) Effeietsanders (talk) 01:50, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

How to match monuments with the list

My friends have many pictures from Korea, but we don't speak Korean and the lists of monuments are in Korean at Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in South Korea/en. It is really cumbersome to try to figure out which pictures we can share if we need to google translate the monument list, particularly since many names on the list are name places and Google Translate often fails with them (see [1]). Is there a way to see them all on one map? Clicking on the map links seems to display only a single GPS, it would be easier if we could see all GPS coordinates for that monument page on one map. They wanted to start with pictures from ko:국립중앙박물관 (en:National Museum of Korea) but it does not appear to be on the list at all... --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 02:43, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

@Motoko C. K.: Could you help Piotrus above with figuring out if the national museum is on the list?
@Piotrus: Thanks for your feedback. National lists are frequently only available in the local language. Google Translate may help a bit, but you may need help of a native speaker to find your monuments. Coordinates should appear if available. It may be very well that the national museum is not a monument, but Motoko C. K. can confirm that. Effeietsanders (talk) 22:35, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
@Effeietsanders: In the absence of Motoko's reply, my friends decided not to bother with the competition. Also, I have to say for myself, that the current format makes it very hard for foreigners to help. I have lots of pictures from Korea, too, but figuring out which may qualify is a pain. I often try to correctly categorize and describe my images, but as the categories don't contain info on whether the image is or is not eligible for the competition, I cannot use that as reference. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 08:40, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
@Piotrus: Usually it becomes easier when geo coordinates are available, but not each country has that available. Unfortunately we can't really expect each country to translate all their lists into a common language (and that would be English, but that would still be a threshold for many tourists..). As everything is slowly migrating to Wikidata, it may become a bit easier to make this happen in the long run. Effeietsanders (talk) 06:12, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
@Effeietsanders: I understand. Btw, is there a way to display a map with all of the locations of monuments? It would help plan some travels if I could see what is the closest on one map, rather then checking 100+ entries for a given province one by one. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 09:57, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
@Piotrus: To the best of my knowledge, there are currently two parallel approaches possible: you can use Monumental for countries that have been imported to Wikidata (although there is no strict guarantee that the national definition is going to be identical to the monumental-query, for example with UNESCO sites this is a well-known issue. But the overlap is likely big. Especially be careful with countries outside the set of 'supported countries'), or you could use wlm-maps, which uses the monuments database. This does not have the upload functionality as smooth as monumental, but it works through the upload wizard. Effeietsanders (talk) 02:54, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
@Effeietsanders: Awesome, those links should be much more widely advertised as part of this competition. PS. Hmmm, [2] doesn't seem to have Korea places implemented? And the other one is limited to just four countries? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 12:24, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
@Piotrus: It looks like Korea is not imported into the monuments database yet (see statistics). As there's no urgency, and I don't have time to create a proper task right now, I created a placeholder for now on Phabricator. Effeietsanders (talk) 17:38, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

@Piotrus: In this situation, I cannot figure out what it is, unless you don't have the registration number of the monument. As Effeietsanders said, it is impossible to translate all of names of the local monuments into English. --Motoko C. K. (talk) 16:49, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

@Motoko C. K.: Well, an internet at Korea Foundation could do it in 2-3 days. Of course there would be errors, but it would be a good thing for their to-do list. On that note, I have another big suggestion: we need posters for universities advertising WLM in Korea. My university (Hanyang) is full of posters about all kind of events, mostly corporate stuff. Students don't know about WLM. Posters would help a lot. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 12:24, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
Next year, we will make printed posters for universities. :) --Motoko C. K. (talk) 09:31, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

@Piotrus: Next year, we will insert geo coordinates and addresses to the table. Please, participate in our event next year :) --Motoko C. K. (talk) 16:54, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

On the page of the picture, you can click on 'more', next to the search bar top right. In that menu you will find an option to rename. That will not directly rename the page, but it will put a rename request on the page that a moderator will check and then execute. Akoopal (talk) 07:50, 24 October 2017 (UTC)
