Please do not be offended if I nominated your images for deletion. There are processes to provide copyright permission and even undelete images which have already been removed.

Hi, Welcome to VI. You are full of good will, and it is very appreciable. You have a problem with your images that are too dark and with a bad color temperature. You have a good camera: check your settings. But in my opinion it is your screen that is badly calibrated if you do not have a calibrator made you lend one and you will be quiet for a few months. @Archaeodontosaurus: Thank you for your nice message. I’m sorry for my late reply; I’m still settling back from seeing the Eclipse. I’ve noticed the darkness problem myself. I checked my camera thoroughly and believe it to be set right. I do have a monitor that is calibrated and I notice a big difference on that than on my laptop I use for everyday tasks. I hope to have the brightness issue dealt with but please tell me if you feel there still could be an issue. As far as the color temperature, I don’t know what could be wrong there. Hi there! I noticed you've been uploading pics from the Columbus area, and wanted to drop you some info:

  • We do have the Ohio Wikimedians User Group, which I encourage you to join if you're in or around Ohio. We provide updates on local events, projects, etc.
  • At OSU, there's a student organization called Wikipedia Connection. I founded it back in 2015, though have since graduated. They host weekly workshops, edit-a-thons, photo drives each Spring, and so on. If you happen to be affiliated with OSU, I encourage you to check it out!

Thank you for contributing to Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in the United States during the month of October! The United States contest saw over 1,400 people (the most of any nation this year) contribute over 8,000 great photos of cultural and historic sites from all over the United States and its territories. Hundreds of these photos are already being used to illustrate pages on various Wikimedia projects.

We're excited to announce that our national judging process has concluded, and that we have selected the winners of Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in the United States! These photos are recognized for their photographic quality, artistic merit, and their encyclopedic value as illustrations of unique historical sites. We were amazed by all of the uploads, and regret only being able to formally recognize the top 10. That being said – congratulations to our national winners and their amazing shots! @Sekwanda: It's quite alright. We all make mistakes. Perhaps if you tell me if there was something specific you were trying to do I could point you in the right direction? As for pinging a user use { { then the word ping then a | and their user name followed by two } } with no spaces in it. If you look at the edit tab you can see how i'm notifying you. there's my issue[edit]

@Sekwanda: Ah! Maybe I understand your issue. You have a User page and a Talk page (shown as the Discussion tab) You posted some text in the wrong area, I took care of it, and left a message there. It's no big deal.
When you want to talk to someone, you can just edit the previous section like I have been doing on someones talk page. Go into my discussion tab and you'll see. You don't have to create a new topic each time. I like to keep a fairly clean Talk page and may merge some of these conversations into 1 but don't delete personal messages from someone especially a warning from an admin (which to be clear, I am not.) That is highly frowned upon and may look suspicious.
I am in the United States. You may want to post some Babel boxes on your User page to let people know what languages you speak and some things about you. Hopefully this helps some. Yes. You can talk to anyone but a very good tip is that you don't have to create a new topic or hit Add topic whenever you want to talk to someone. You can simply Edit the Talk page. That is true, i was a "sockmaster". It was a one-time mistake for which I was punished by Guanaco, i was over a month's banned. Therefore, I am asking You to give this information to the public, that I have already learned a lesson for it. It would be exceedingly pleasing to have such an eagerly remembered error been supplemented with the information that it was a converted past. @Diegocurto: Well there are several problems. Some appear to be Adverts for a business. If that is incorrect please say so and what they really are because they appear to be advertisements, on the nomination page. The ones that appear to be adverts were in one batch. But all appear to have copyright violations. In one the Metadata said Author: Isidro Febles - Piti Garcia, Copyright holder: ExtremaduraVirtual.Net, in all of the others the Metadata lists Author: Picasa. You uploaded these as "Own work". Unless you took the picture that is a copyright violation. I'm really not trying to be hard but these are serious problems that would need to be resolved to keep these images. Hello again... 4 months later... sorry for that, I don´t know how Wikimedia works... that is the cause of this problems. Answering your questions Otoño Magico is not a business, it is a Spanish "fiesta" that takes place every November. I am one of the organizers, and I am trying to build the Wikipedia and Wikimedia photo archive. So it is not a business, but a public event. About the copyright, we have contracted Isidro Febles as our official photographer last 4 years (so he took the photos, but we are the owners, I don´t know how to proceed with this...). And where it says that Picasa is the author, is because I edit them with Picasa, but we are the owners aswell. Thanks for your explanations, @sixflashphoto, I don´t know how to proceed with this. @Diegocurto: Hello! When I first started I had to spend what now seem like countless hours reading to understand how commons works so I entirely understand. I still, and probably never will learn everything there is to know about commons. It is a huge project. First, I am not an administrator and so I can not undelete any photos for you or look at your previously deleted photos, but an administrator can. A list of them can be found Here:Administrators.
You have no other photos uploaded so I can't see any other photos to use an examples but just going off the Deletion Requests and your questions I have a couple thoughts. If a photo was not taken by you (you didn't click the shutter) it is never "Own work". If it is taken by Isidro Febles you need to clarify the ownership. If by the terms of the contract he did in fact give full ownership and reuse rights over to you, an email from him, something from the domain of ExtremaduraVirtual.Net, saying that explicit fact may do. I'm basing that off of the information in this DR. You can find information used for this process Here:OTRS.
One other issue, on some of the DR's, part of the rational was they were Advert's. Those can not be hosted on commons, as commons is for hosting material of Educational Re-use. But uploading photos of a festival in Spain is entirely within the Scope of commons.
As for the metadata, I believe the problem was the issue of copyright and the author cited in the metadata making ownership uncertain. I may be wrong but I believe that was the issue. I hope I have been helpful. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 16:03, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Kadimina: Hello. You have not yet provided the photo or photos in question. By searching your name I believe you are reffering too these photos. File:PTra.png and File:PTraged.png. If I am wrong please tell me what you are specifically talking about rather then making threats. Those were listed when they were uploaded as "Own Work" but you can clearly see they are Screenshots making them Derivative Works. Without permission with the origional creator of the content these files can not be hosted on commons. If you are not the content creator OTRS permission would be in order.   • @Ismoon: The scope should connect to a category your photo is in to compare it to other photos in the scope. The scope can be written this way for example; with the Category:The Tempest by Giorgione it can be written {{c|The Tempest by Giorgione}}.   • @PressJayasurya: Hello! Commons has a specific scope. The category is written and referenced like a wikipedia article. If the subject is noteworthy and can be referenced as you have tried to do it very well could belong on wikipedia but not commons. Commons is a free media repository. A category for that subject to hold photos for that subject could be in scope but the notability would need to be established such as if an article was on wikipedia. I see now that you are a new user so I suggest focusing the efforts your putting into this article on a wikipedia page and once that is accepted there will be a clear scope for commons to host images for that in such a category. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 15:24, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You have essentially created a wikipedia article in a category. For what you are trying to do, you should create a proper wikipedia article on wikipedia-not commons.   • @Buchofant: Hello! I prefer all new topics start at the bottom to there is some order so I moved this down. In the future it is helpful to link what photo you are talking about. I looked at your profile. Did you take the pictures? If you did and they are used in an article they would be in scope. If you didn't the pictures Commons would need to be notified through OTRS that it can be released under a free license from the photographer.   • Oh that would be so nice! I've only ever really been able to pixel peep one RAW from an X1D and never one that I could be sure was shot in real world conditions. I'd love to see the raw but it's my understanding they can be around 220Mb sometimes a bit higher. Storage size isn't an issue for me but I don't know what the easiest way of transferring that. Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top 2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2017.

Round 2 will end on 22 July 2018, 23:59 UTC.

I never have an issue with someone giving me a nudge to look at something. One I can support, one will probably go though as undecided and one I have a couple questions. Hello! Last year you contributed to Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in the United States. Thanks to people like you it was a great success, with over 1,400 people contributing over 8,000 photos of cultural and historic sites from all over the country. Potential use of New Albany/ Columbus photos in book[edit]

Hello, I came across your work while searching for artwork for a book I am writing about the development of New Albany, Ohio. In particular, your photo of the founders' historical marker caught my eye https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Founders_of_New_Albany_Historical_Marker_1.jpg I also found several other of your photos that could be of interest. So, I would like to ask your permission to include a handful of your photos in the book, with proper credit/attribution of course. The book will be published by OSU Press, hopefully in late 2019. Title still to be determined. It will be a coffee table-style book, extensively researched and illustrated. I realize your photos are generously CC licensed, but nonetheless I thought best to reach out and ask your permission.

September 30th is the last day to upload photos for Wiki Loves Monuments! We're thrilled that the United States has almost reached 4,000 contributions so far this year. Of these images, ~370 (~9%) have already been used to help illustrate Wikipedia articles and pages on other wiki projects, which is fantastic.

Important message for file movers[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning.
