Template to mark files and categories associated with listings on the US National Register of Historic Places.

The template automatically sets the following categories: Category:National Register of Historic Places with known IDs

Usage

{{NRHP |1= |2= }}

This template should be placed on files and categories associated with items (buildings, structures, objects, places, and historic districts) that are listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places. Automated tools (bots and scripts) use the presence of this template to create and manage associations between categories, media files, and articles on the subjects depicted. It should ideally be placed on categories specifically associated with a National Register listing, and on individual media files included in the category, because the automated tools use them in different ways. Only apply the template to a category if the ID applies to all of the contained files and subcategories. If more than one listing applies to a given file or category, include more than one copy of this template, once for each unique ID.

Template parameters

TemplateData

TemplateData is a way to store information about template parameters (the description of those and of the whole template) for both humans and machines. It is used by VisualEditor and possibly other tools like Upload Wizard.

Existing template documentation
At Wikimedia Commons, it is recommended to use {{TemplateBox}} with either ‎useTemplateData=1 or ‎useTemplateData=only on the ‎/doc subpage and transcluding it with {{Documentation}} into the template. ‎<nowiki>-tags can be wrapped around the arguments, if required, to avoid templates being expanded.

Newly created template documentation and imports
Another option, especially for imported templates, or for users with JSON experience, is placing raw ‎<templatedata>-tags into the Wikitext of the template, as described in various Wikipediae.
