Birds are a group of animals with a wide range of species and characteristics and are found in almost all habitats, from tropical rainforests to arctic regions. Birds have many unique characteristics, including the presence of feathers that enable them to fly. They lay eggs, have a strong beak and a light build. There is an enormous variety of bird species, from tiny hummingbirds to majestic birds of prey and colourful parrots. Birds play an important role in ecosystems. They disperse seeds, pollinate plants and regulate pest populations. Many birds are also migratory, travelling long distances to follow the seasons and food conditions. |
