Ping about RfA

Hello Krd,

Little note on this edit. I was working on my RfA application (Commons:Administrators/Requests/Yug) and expected to work on it calmly over one or two week. I only had worked on it for 50 minutes and it was still displaying a {{Draft}} template when your edit adding it to Commons:Administrators/Requests opened and pushed me into the formal vote process, I only noticed when 2 users voted negatively, i considered i had no way to stop the vote which then snowballed. I think it would be helpful to check with the users if he is ready before to push forward such edit. Yug (talk) 21:34, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Dear Yug. You may be right. One may also think that an RfA will be prepared offline, or using the preview function, or if everything else fails in the user namespace. In my opinion an existing RfA should be started, but of course I may be mistaken. --Krd 08:36, 4 January 2018 (UTC)

It's done and over but to source my claim, Commons:Administrators#Apply_to_become_an_administrator states that the applicant is expected to do the move her/himself when ready and I applied a very visible {{Draft}} at the top of my text to avoid such push. If the process change it should be stated in Commons:Administrators#Apply_to_become_an_administrator, and the encoded template for applications should notify the applicant that the vote will live and opened immediately. Note: I was busy with the application up to now so I only noticed yesterday that this inconvenience was not due to my page creation or mistake but was the result of your good intended edit. I think that if a cat is under discussion and someone just removes the CfD template (and repeatedly, and despite being told not to do so) from a cat instead of participating at the discussion, in addition to imposing their choice on others, deserves an admin warning(x). If not so they continue with arbitrary edits; that is what they have done so far. (Maybe they should also add some tails and emoticons to their edits to be more visible. Forget the parentheses, sometimes I make jokes that only me understands. :) Thanks for all your contributions to Commons. (x) I may also warn them, but they know whom to fear and whom not, that's what makes one to approach an admin sometimes for a warning. Have you considered clarifying this message? It was not at all clear to me why there was a problem with a N-C licence, as Wikimedia is N-C. After much searching I've now found https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Licensing/Justifications and the rather more useful explanation on page 14 of https://openglam.org/files/2013/01/iRights_CC-NC_Guide_English.pdf. Maybe you can save other editors searching by putting those links in the message?

Hi, Krd. New user Manwe12 asked me in my user talkpage to restore a lot of files, for example file:Ritratto di Ferdinando II d'Asburgo.jpg. They were deleted by you with reason "Created by abuser". The original uploader was known to mix blatant copyvios with all types of wrong claims between pd-old mass uploads. You can restore the files in question if you verify that they are really pd-old (and e.g. not a recent production of an historical scene).

Frettiebot

I just spotted that Frettiebot (talk · contribs) is running what looks like the same code as Commons:Bots/Requests/Pi bot 1 to add {{Wikidata Infobox}}. I'm not sure if this is an issue or not? Did you extract any technical data before doing Revision of Commons:Requests for checkuser/Case/Chyah? I don’t insist on publication of any details now and can trust your parole that you don’t lead the administration of Commons towards a debacle similar to one that en.Wikipedians experienced recently. The case is not complete. There is certain Ghorbanpour spamming ring and also some person known as Chyah/Rafic.Mufid/Sonia Sevilla. Surely the latter is now blocked due to block evasion and disruption in user_talk of multiple users, but this person is also a contributor with ∼11k uploads and no spam from any known account. How the Ghorbanpour spammer(s) is/are related to Chyah/Sonia_Sevilla? I hoped it was clear that this question is not concluded. Moreover, I know that their landline IP pool covers a large area in Iran hundreds km across. Please, do not refer me to trials conducted in Farsi wikis. At least, extract please all available technical data on Rafic.Mufid, Sonia_Sevilla, British proxies mentioned in the request, Nahidlift1, Saramohammadi9, Leylapr2, Leylapr22, Leylapr202, and SHATEL ranges like 31.56.0.0/16 (not only IP edits of course, but all edits that might seemingly have any relation to the case), and then save the data to checkuser.wikimedia.org. Undeletions

The original uploader was known to mix blatant copyvios with all types of wrong claims between pd-old mass uploads. You can restore the files in question if you verify that they are really pd-old (and e.g. not a recent production of an historical scene). --Krd 06:04, 17 June 2018 (UTC)

Die Edits von heute und vorgestern kamen von INC über eine IP, die du mit einem Rangeblock 2600:6c4e:7003:600::/64 indef versehen hast. Mir ist jetzt nur nicht klar, ob man bei so einem Rangeblock den Talkpage-Zugriff mit blockieren sollte, oder lieber nicht (wg. Socking investigations

Hello.
One of the pending SPIs causes an uneasy fuzziness around one of active Commons accounts – does it represent a distinct person troubling to understand copyright? Or merely an elite sock grown on well-known farm for use in en.Wikipedia and not yet blocked due to extreme slowness of check-user? It would be good to understand who uploaded File:McDonald's-1968 logo.png (presumedly a derivative of the recently deleted File:McDonald's 1968 logo.png and/or File:McDonald's 1968 logo.jpg). We may and should talk to an errant user, not so to a serially produced puppet. I hope you can eventually spend some time to elucidate the problem of Bill Wong’s “personality”. delinker log

Hi Krd... how difficult would it be to combine your Filedelinkerbot's logs with the logs of CommonsDelinker (and maybe even other delinker bots like MBHbot)? Having multiple bots whose history needs to be searched makes it extremely difficult to undo the bots when restoring a file and it would be very useful to have our logs link to a combined delinker search rather than just CommonsDelinker. FYI, this was probably what my memory was flagging up. Partly due to complexity and lack of substantive interest, it floundered. I still recall a discussion where minimal numbers of participants in a pre-discussion was debated, but along with being unable to dig it out, I doubt that it established an enforceable/credible new norm. Hmm, I didn't have that in mind any more. Reading it again today I still don't see any relevant difference to the current situation. We have seen a lot of de-admin requests that were successful for good reason, and I don't remember any relevant issue where a deadmin request didn't take place but had been justified. What is your intention with the file moves? Have they been requested by anybody? They are not wrong, but cleaning up file names is not a thing that should happen as routine maintenance. Ich versuche gerade, in dem Bereich wieder etwas aktiver zu werden, und habe mal von der jungen Seite begonnen. Die Leute, die ein halbes Jahr warten, sind eh nicht mehr glücklich zu bekommen, aber die Neukunden evtl. schon. Ziel ist immer, bis Silvester den Rückstau leer zu haben. Activity of an OTRS member

Hi, would it be possible for you to check if OTRS member Para is still active? As far as I know, they are one of the few people who have access to the Finnish queues, but at least they haven't actively edited in a long time and if they're inactive it would be better to unlist them so that the local community is better informed about the situation of the queues. Interessanterweise kann ich es nicht, denn es handelt sich um einen Kaskadenschutz über eine Bot-gepflegte Seite. Es wäre ehrlich gesagt einfacher, wenn Du mir die Änderung durchgibst so dass ich sie eintragen kann. Offene Tickets

Sorry, dass auch ich dich mit Tickets belästigen muss, aber geht nicht anders. Heute Abend ist genau das passiert, was ich eigentlich verhindern wollte. Ein Admin hat einfach eine meiner hochgeladenen Dateien gelöscht, weil seit 30 Tagen keine Freigabe markiert wurde. Gut, ist passiert. Ich mache da auch keine große Sache draus, weil ich das Bild jetzt nicht mehr nutze. Von daher alles gut. Missing OTRS received

Hi, Krd! Yesterday User:Drenowe sent a permission via email for four images; your bot has marked three of them with {{OTRS received}} (though I was somewhat surprised by the different ticket numbers, but I guess the procedure is to open a separate ticket for each image), namely File:Zhelevo Picnic 1924 medium Best.jpg, File:Risto Buyankin better1а.jpg, and File:Dren Dono final larger.jpg, however for some reason the fourth image, File:Cover of Drenoveni The Life and Demise of a Macedonian Village.jpg, hasn't been marked. When you have the time, could you please check this? And also, in the email there should've been a permission related to {{Koroloff permission}}. Would there be an additional ticket opened for it and should it be marked in some way as awaiting confirmation?

OTRS received

Hi, I am surprised to read your comment at User talk:ID007NS. Did I miss something? How can a non OTRS agent confirm that a ticket regarding this specific file is in the queue? As far as I know we have always prohibited non OTRS agents to paste this template. They can use {OTRS pending} instead. I think we can do without non OTRS agents interfering with the OTRS process. Going by the tag that you added to the page last month, there's a problem with the OTRS permission we sent for this image, but that's all we have to go on as we weren't notified of the problem.

Possibly because it was sent from the diskdepot.co.uk domain instead of discdepotdundee.co.uk? (All our outgoing mail comes from diskdepot.co.uk; there are some aliases for discdepotdundee.co.uk and our other domains, but those are for incoming email only).

The two sites are visibly related, and we had no such problem getting our OTRS permission acceptd for this image under almost exactly the same circumstances, so it's not clear what's expected of us. Can you please explain the specific problem that caused you to leave this tag? Thanks.

(The deletion request associated with this was closed by an admin as "keep", so they seem pretty confident that it's fine?)

Unblocking IP

Hello Krd! When you blocked User:YMEnTeRB you also blocked the IP, that belongs to a public institution. So we are developping with User:Euskal Herriko Ahotsak can't be done as they can't longer upload videos. Photo of Emil Michael needs permission

Hi, I am not sure of the procedure here, but I submitted a picture of Emil Michael with (I hope) all the needed documents to get permission to use the photo on Emil Michael's page on Wikipedia, but the process of getting that permission has been quite lengthy. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to help move the process along so the photo does not get deleted after the 30-day time limit has been reached. deletion of image

Hello! I am engaged in the small project of making the page on this organisation better. Part of this is to updload the logo of the organisation which i did. Your bot deleted what i had uploaded (here) and i guess it has to do with me not doing things properly. How can i do it right? Who in the end can upload this logo? Excuse me but I am simply trying to get a set of info from you guys as it seems you know and are, voluntarily, partly in charge or at least part of the process to some extent. I feel I am kind of bothering everybody here, and maybe it is the case; i apologise in that case, but I got no other option as I don't get it and I am trying to understand. I am looking for, what seems to me a simple answer: I checked the OTRS part, as well as the fast track online process of approval. It seems that the way is to have the organsiation release its logo as if it was public domain. That of course is never going to happen. Therefore my question is: what kind of process was followed by others, hundreds on WP, who uploaded logos under total copyright, like for example KPMG. Indeed while the logo is on WP, the KPMG page says "The KPMG name, logo and “cutting through complexity” are registered trademarks or trademarks of KPMG International". You can see that here:File:KPMG logo.svg.
