Tichnor Brothers postcards[edit]

Hi. I noticed this edit where you removed the author information from the Info template of a file. Was this intentional? If so, it would be good to include an edit summary that explains your reasons for doing so, so that it doesn't look like vandalism. If it was an accident, it's easy enough to fix.

I also noticed that you've uploaded some MA and PA postcards from that collection. I have a script I can use to easily upload all the cards for a particular state, if you'd like. I stopped before finishing all fifty states due to the fact that I didn't have time to keep up with curating all the uploads afterwards, but if there's a batch that you would be willing to browse and add specific categories to, etc, I'd be willing to do the bulk upload. --Junkyardsparkle (talk) 02:15, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

(After seeing the same author info pasted into files you uploaded, I'm assuming it was accidentally cut instead of copied, so I restored it. Note that this is incorrect information for those files; the given publisher varies from card to card.) --Junkyardsparkle (talk) 02:30, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for restoring the status quo. That was unintentional cutting instead of copying, my bad! I will check the publisher's info as well. As for your proposition, for a starter, I can use more postcards of Springfield, Mass., including Forest Park, and also can look for specific categories for your future bulk postcard uploads. --Taterian (talk) 21:17, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like ~93 for Springfield, out of about 2,000 for Mass. I'll try to run that batch in the next few days. I might try to tweak some things for additional auto-added city/town categories first, some of which are bound to be incorrect. The metadata at the source archive is impressive in that it exists at all (must have been a huge job), but is far from perfect, which is one reason I didn't try to automate that aspect before. The other reason is that categories generated this way may very well not exist on commons, and some possibly shouldn't, so... hard to say if that would save more work than it would make. --Junkyardsparkle (talk) 02:47, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Let's see how it goes, good luck with your efforts. --Taterian (talk) 05:09, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, the Springfield cards are here, 88 after skipping duplicate catalog numbers. The rest of Mass. will follow eventually. --Junkyardsparkle (talk) 01:04, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Looks wonderful! I'll start looking for additional categories. --Taterian (talk) 11:44, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This doesn't work. They are called driving licenses (in UK English, "license" is the verb, and "licence" the noun). Centres where drivers are tested for competence should not be a subcat of the documents themselves. Care to reconsider this? Rodhullandemu (talk) 21:56, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Divišovice[edit]

Hi, you have probably merged files from two different sites to one category. Note there are two places in the Czech Republic called w:cs:Divišovice. Also note what is the name of the files you were moving. I am going to revert your actions.--Juandev (talk) 21:18, 15 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My bad if it so, go ahead. --Taterian (talk) 21:24, 15 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I figured out that also others merged wrong files into that category.--Juandev (talk) 08:26, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Glad you took care of it. --Taterian (talk) 10:30, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

COM:OVERCAT[edit]

Hi Taterian,

I hope you are familiar with the problem of COM:OVERCAT. This file here you edited is such as case [1], you might not be aware of it. It seems that when you moved the category, you automatically added the overcategory to each image as well. I am trying to manually clean this up now, unless you have a better solution. Thank you. Gryffindor (talk) 10:48, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No problemo, Gryffindor, just tell me what to do! --Taterian (talk) 16:16, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Taterian, I cleaned up the files manually, it was still ok, not too much. I do need your help however with another request. Is there a way to populate this Category:Mary Griggs Burke Collection (Metropolitan Museum of Art) with the bot? The Met probably has hundreds of items from her. Thank you for your help. Gryffindor (talk) 13:27, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
What can I say, you just put everybody to shame with your meticulousness and attention to detail when it comes to categorizing files, it has been my pleasure to assist you. --Taterian (talk) 16:36, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I just saw the bot in action, that is just amazing. Mary Burke donated to two museums, is there a way to differentiate between what she donated to the Met and to the Minneapolis Institute? You can take a look here to see what I mean Category:Mary Griggs Burke Collection. Could this one be populated as well Category:Edward C. Moore Collection? Gryffindor (talk) 16:07, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently, bot takes a porch vacation, and there is a sigh advising to move the files manually due to long delays, so it is merely your humble servant... Meanwhile, I will check if there any Minneapolis files left and will look for Moore's files, as well. --Taterian (talk) 16:36, 11 August 2017 (UTC) An update. No luck with Minneapolis, I guess we better ask Pharos to start planning an incursion there. Edward C. Moore Collection was taken care of. I also uploaded a free JSTOR article about his collection that might be handy. Bear in mind that some stuff was donated by his son, Edward C. Moore, Jr. --Taterian (talk) 20:03, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Taterian, I hope the bot is back from its vacation? I need your help please, but I don't know if it's feasible. There has been a mass-adding of MET images, but now they have to be moved to more specific categories. Here is one example [2], which should be moved to here [3]. And also a file like this one [4] has two categories even though there should be only one specific one [5]. Thank you very much. Gryffindor (talk) 19:17, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, Pharos keeps everyone busy, that is for sure and as I said before just tell me exactly what to do! Regarding bots, don't ask me, as they never talk back... --Taterian (talk) 03:40, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Taterian, ok so this is what I need please: 1) remove category "Department of Asian Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art" from all category "Japanese pottery in the Metropolitan Museum of Art" items, since this would be an overcategorisation. 2) remove category "Department of Asian Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art" from all category "Japanese art in the Metropolitan Museum of Art" items, same issue as mentioned above. Thank you. Gryffindor (talk) 12:13, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid that I might be missing something or merely came late to the feast of gods, but it appears that Category:Japanese pottery in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Category:Japanese art in the Metropolitan Museum of Art are already liberated from Category:Department of Asian Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art. Standing by. --Taterian (talk) 04:59, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Barbara Kilisesi[edit]

... or Azize Barbara Kilisesi (revision history) as per Azize Barbara Kilisesi? ... let me know, and then I'll move it. --Taterian (talk) 00:19, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Of course it is. And my edit summary is intended to remind that. I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I moved "kilise" to "Kilisesi" for correct use of Turkish and stated at the summary that "this was the name without the word Azize/Saint", only because I did not want to change the previous name, but simply wanted to make a grammar/orthographic correction. (If I knew my edit summary would not be understood I wouldn't have done anything. :) The other churches in Category:Churches in Göreme, like the "Basil Sapeli" that I moved to "Basil Şapeli" could also use the word "Aziz". Repeating myself, I limited myself to linguistic correction, without disturbing the saints, or azizler and azizeler. Understand? It would be better to dedicate all this time to change the cats of the files instead of chatting...--E4024 (talk) 07:09, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind. --Taterian (talk) 07:14, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Taterian please move anything to anywhere you wish and do not make me bury the moral burden. No cat is mine here. (In Turkish we say: "Bir kedim bile yok!" :) Have a good week-end. --E4024 (talk) 14:44, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Categories you created being discussed[edit]

Replied. --Taterian (talk) 15:40, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning Taterian. I stumbled today over your newly created Category:Peter Aubry II. It seems to be a duplicate of Category:Peter Aubry (engraver), based on the identical birth and death years. Could you please crosscheck? Thanks a lot. Raymond 09:06, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. Merged into existing. --Taterian (talk) 03:35, 12 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Ceramics of Japan[edit]

Hi Taterian, could you please start a bot to take out in this "Category:Ceramics of Japan" every image that has in its title "Kina" (Swedish for China) or "Kinesisk" (Swedish for Chinese) in it? Also if it has the word "porslin" and the country is China, it should only be in "Category:Chinese porcelain in the Hallwyl Museum" but not double-listed under "Category:Chinese ceramics in the Hallwyl Museum" as well. Thank you for your help. Gryffindor (talk) 21:21, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Taterian, this is amazing, thank you so much. Just to double-check, is every item in the Hallwyl Museum with the words "Japansk" in "Category:Japanese ceramics in the Hallwyl Museum"? accounted for? Thank you again. Gryffindor (talk) 08:45, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Caught a few misplaced images. --Taterian (talk) 23:51, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I suspect there are more over-categorisations or wrong categories in the Hallwyl Museum, but I think the Japanese ceramic items are sorted now. Gryffindor (talk) 10:01, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Taterian, you will notice I reverted your edit on File:Gustave Le Gray - Brig upon the Water - Google Art Project.jpg. The reason being there is another image on commons and I prefer someone to take a closeer look to‎ find out which one should be deleted. Thank you for your time. :) Lotje (talk) 15:30, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Taterian,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons.

Thanks for all you do! -- ~riley (talk) 10:05, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lizenz meiner Abbildung Julien potocki[edit]

Hallo Taterian,

https://www.etalab.gouv.fr/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Open_Licence.pdf

Was raten Sie mir? PaSaMax75 --PaSaMax75 (talk) 13:58, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

source vs. license[edit]

On 12 May 2018, you removed the {{No source since}} tag from File:Abu Ghraib 53.jpg saying, "Thank you, Fourthords; checked the file and removed {{No source}} per {{AbuGhraibPic}}". However, {{AbuGhraibPic}} is a copyright tag and provides no evidence of source as required by COM:EI#Source:

[…] the file description page needs to mention not only who generated the file/ image (which should already have been provided in the author= field) but where the file in question came from. […] If you are uploading a file that originally came from an external website, you should provide at least a link to the web page (i.e., the url) on which the image or file is displayed (that is, not the web address of the file itself, but rather the web page containing the file).

It appears that Descendall (talk · contribs) uploaded the file w/o a source, and none has been added since February 2006. In case you'd meant to add the source requested, I'll delay replacing the no-source-since tag for now. — fourthords | =Λ= | 17:33, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, @Fourthords: . I also wish the Abu Ghraib torture and prisoner abuse had never happened. Regrettably, deleting pictures will not take us back in time to nip such shocking things in the bud. One needs to learn the lesson to move forward, and I understand the Army already took the steps as it doesn't want similar things to happen to our missing/captured soldiers, Rumsfeld apologizes for Iraq prison abuse, The Lessons of Abu Ghraib. The picture that you are referring to was seized by the U.S. Government during a related investigation and is now government-owned, US military abuse scandal: Pentagon releases 198 prisoner photos. The source existed at the time of the upload and it is reasonable to assume its bona-fiderness after a quick TinEye and Google Image search, and I ask you to kindly use these tools before suggesting files for deletion (a file with no source tag can be deleted after 7 days or so) to let other editors to work on improving the Commons, and you can chip in to help too! Best regards, --Taterian (talk) 22:09, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have found no reliable evidence online to source this specific image to the United States military, as the copyright tag claims. You added three URLs to the FDP, but they are to (respectively) the bare image itself, an all-volunteer community website, and an archived blog. Are these acceptable sources for a copyright claim? (Number one certainly isn't, as stated at COM:EI#Source, which I quoted above: "If you are uploading a file that originally came from an external website, you should provide at least a link to the web page (i.e., the url) on which the image or file is displayed (that is, not the web address of the file itself, but rather the web page containing the file).") — fourthords | =Λ= | 17:00, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have nothing but praise for your efforts to supply images from the Category:Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse with quality sources and was glad to assist you. In the future, please don't hesitate to employ TinEye Reverse Image Search as well as rusty but trusty Google Image Search to reach your goal. Take care and good luck. --Taterian (talk) 22:55, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate the lauds, though I'm not familiar with the category. Thank you though for adding the Salon source, that's definitely a satisfactory source for that file; I didn't come across it when I used the searches you suggested. I doff my hat. — fourthords | =Λ= | 19:07, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Hans Hermann Ludwig von Reuter.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Rembrandt at the MET[edit]

A good proportion of the supposed Met Rembrandt prints are actually drawings, which have their own category. All seem to have been miscategorized by you in edits like this one. The metadata is clear. Please revisit - at least 50-100 in Category:Prints by Rembrandt in the Metropolitan Museum of Art are wrong, at a guess. Thanks, Johnbod (talk) 01:55, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My bad, and I will rely on you in this delicate matter as you are clearly an expert in these things. Best, --Taterian (talk) 13:12, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

LeMay Family Collection Foundation[edit]

I'm trying to sort out quite a mess at Category:LeMay Family Collection Foundation; since you created the category, I'm hoping you can help sort this out.

  1. The LeMay Museum (Category:LeMay Museum) is, indeed a museum in Tacoma, but apparently it is completely separate from the Foundation. I'm pretty certain that the foundation itself is not in any sense in Tacoma, but it is currently in Category:Museums in Tacoma, Washington. Is there some basis for that?
  2. Are the Foundation and the museum at the former Marymount Military Academy one and the same, or should we introduce Category:LeMay Family Collection at Marymount as a subcat of the foundation category? Usually, I would expect a foundation and a museum to be two separate entities, one being an "umbrella" over the other.
  3. Right now the bulk of the images in Category:LeMay Family Collection Foundation have names like File:Parkland, WA, USA - panoramio (137).jpg and are also in Category:Parkland, Washington. Was the museum formerly in Parkland? Or (this is what I suspect) was some visitor who took these photos on Panaramio simply confused what town he was in (Marymount is in Spanaway)? The photos are only dated four years ago. en:LeMay Family Collection Foundation doesn't indicate that the museum moved recently, but it doesn't give any dates at all. https://web.archive.org/web/20140304194254/http://www.lemaymarymount.org/faqs/ predates the date given for these photos, so it would suggest that it was at Marymount at that time. Nothing in these images seems to me to suggest a different location, but I could be missing something.

Anyway, can you help out at all? Or am I on my own? Jmabel ! talk 07:27, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I see your point, Jmabel, these are indeed two separate entities, at 325 152nd St E., Tacoma, WA 98445 and 2702 East D Street, Tacoma, WA 98421. "While Harold [LeMay] passed away in 2000, his legacy and collection carries on at LeMay Family Collection Foundation in Marymount and at LeMay – America’s Car Museum in nearby Tacoma". However, the Marymount collection is not just cars: "The LeMay Collections include over 1,500 vintage vehicles, a wide variety of Americana and memorabilia (dolls, toys, antiques, farm equipment, vintage radios, etc.), a Rodin Sculpture Garden and much more. Much of the Collections are hosted on the historic grounds of former Marymount Military Academy in Tacoma, WA." So, it's more like, Category:LeMay Family Collections at Marymount. Hope this helps, --Taterian (talk) 03:01, 10 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • That's fine with me.
  • I'm presuming that you have no reason to think that "Parkland" was anything but an error, right? - Jmabel ! talk 03:54, 10 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I believe I have it sorted out, though you may want to have a look. Obviously, the many pictures of cars, etc., could use decent categories for just what is in the picture, but that's really not my area of expertise. I just sorted out the museum stuff. - Jmabel ! talk 04:16, 10 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

tête d'indien de l'escadrille Layette[edit]

je constate une croix gammée sur la coiffe indienne de l'une des deux photos, hors la croix gammée est arrivé en 1939 et n'existait pas à la date de création de l'escadron Lafayette

Good question, 2a01:cb14:80d0:3400:b58e:e3ef:8a5c:28a9. Per Holocaust Museum, "The swastika is an ancient symbol that was in use in many different cultures for at least 5,000 years before Adolf Hitler made it the centerpiece of the Nazi flag. ... In the beginning of the twentieth century the swastika was widely used in Europe. It had numerous meanings, the most common being a symbol of good luck and auspiciousness." Hi Taterian. I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request. When you want to delete a file with the {{Delete}} template, you must follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion, or Commons:Deletion requests/Listing a request manually. Alternatively, you can click the "Nominate for deletion" link in the left sidebar, under the "tools" section, which does all of the work for you. Thanx, fixed. --Taterian (talk) 05:08, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That 'thanks' was because you reminded me of {{Original caption}}... I've been uploading more of those NHHC images that have to be cropped, and I went back and added that to their pages just now, and will do it that way from now on. See Category:NHHC Series NH 90000-99999 if interested... it seems like particular series are jpegs with the caption, and others are tiffs that have to be converted. Jarnsax (talk) 20:32, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@@Jarnsax: Always glad to be of help, so just throw tiffs that need to be converted into jpegs my way,-- ships and boats hold a special place in every boy's heart... --Taterian (talk) 22:47, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What I'm basically working toward is category pages like Category:USS Plunger (Submarine Torpedo Boat No. 2) (submarine, 1903) and Category:USS Adder (Submarine Torpedo Boat No. 3) (submarine, 1903), including fixing the wikidata side of things (and adding a lot of data), moving them to the 'right name' (IMHO, using the designation system of the time, that's actually on the historical photos), and lots of redirects from other 'valid names'. It's a lot of work, but there are huge numbers of 'low quality' NHHC images (with a convoluted history) that are horribly sorted. Go look at LSTs, lol.
The history, if you care, is that NHHC put up it's original website back in web 1.0 days, and the images were scanned from a printed catalog with captions, then ended up copied to places like navsource and hyperwar, eventually copied to wikipedia, and then copied here, some with totally mangled filenames like File:USS Plunger;I02428.jpg. NHHC has since updated their website (breaking every single source link in the process), put up higher-resolution versions of most of those scanned images from the 90s, and replaced some series with the tiffs. Meanwhile, a lot of the images on Commons are still sitting here with bot-transferred images from a decade ago.
File:USS Pike (SS-6).jpg is a good example (look at the old version)... I didn't overwrite that because of the crop, which someone might want. The tiff is 'broken', but it's a bug, some of the previews work. Jarnsax (talk) 23:44, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I will admit my jpeg conversions are 'not very good', in that I'm not messing with contrast or anything, just a minimal crop. Feel free to make any better. Jarnsax (talk) 23:58, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Eye, Eye, Captain! After I finish fixing sources for some of the Naval Command pictures transferred from WP to Commons as is, I will be your man. Best, --Taterian (talk) 00:34, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome. I'm obviously not the first person that has worked on this, on and off over the years, but there are still tons (thousands) of images at NHHC that want transfer here in at least some usable form (you can't embed images from their website), and I am a lot more technical than artistic... I'm just shoveling data and images in, trying to get the historical info right and fix the database drama on Wikidata to make the infoboxes work correctly. It would be great (and encouraging) if someone else would take an interest in actually turning some of these into decently composed and exposed images and sticking them in articles... there are also probably some cases where the main image over on Wikidata (what goes in the infobox here and on wikis that use it) should probably be changed.
If you look at US pre-dreadnaught battleships, I've worked some on the first few (wikidata and names, not mass uploading yet), but Category:Pre-dreadnought battleships could use some major organization, sorting stuff out into subcats of Category:Pre-dreadnought battleships by country‎ and then the equivalents of Category:Battleships of the United States by name. I'm actually referring to the Naval Vessel Register, the online copy of DANFS, and scans of actual copies of the book, and there are 'by type' appendixes in the actual book that help a lot with things like dates and terminology. I've been using (and changing some cats to) the year of first commissioning as the 'finished' year in the (ship, ####) naming schema, essentially on the basis that pre-iron, you would have ships 'built' not launched or fitted out, put 'in ordinary' while still on the ways, for decades, and in the modern era the ship doesn't get commissioned until launch, sea trials, fixing stuff that doesn't work, etc., is finished, and the Navy actually signs off on it as 'finished', and sometimes that takes years.
I'm also trying pretty hard to get the designations 'right', in terms of what I said before, by actually looking up historical stuff like the Ships' Data Books. Just attacking the whole thing a bit at a time from several different directions, including just uploading them numerically one at a time from [6], since there are a ton of images of sailors as well as things like File:LCDR A. C. Read, Josephus Daniels, CDR John H. Towers, Franklin D. Roosevelt, LCDR P. Bellinger, CDR Richardson - NH 20.jpeg... possible sources for cropped images of historical figures. Thanx Broichmore for stopping by and dropping a note. You see, the "American Heritage" states in War Correspondent, 1864: The Sketchbooks Of James E. Taylor that the correct middle name is Edward not Earl: "James Edward (not "Earl," as some sources state) Taylor was born December 19,1839, in Cincinnati, Ohio, one of three surviving children in a family both aspiring and dogged by poverty." It's posted on the category's talk page Category talk:James Earl Taylor. Hope this helps. --Taterian (talk) 15:06, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I notice you are adding files directly to this major category. I'm not sure if you are aware that there are already 24 subcategories, such as "Drunken people in art of Ukraine", "Paintings of Drunken people", "Alcoholism in art" and many others. These in turn contain many more sub-subcategories. It is unlikely that individual files will be best categorised in the parent/grandparent category. Images of Bacchus/Dionysos, for instance, will be better categorised separately. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 12:41, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanx for your message, and I am really surprised that this turned to be such a popular topic ;). By the way, I completely agree with your views on categorization. Best, --Taterian (talk) 19:13, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for moving things to more specific categories, but please do be careful about the category. 6ne page that I watch (Evan Harrington - 07 - The Cogglesby Brothers.png) you put it in the category of lithographs when in fact it was an engraving - so please recheck the other images that you put in the lithograph category to make sure that they actually are. Thanx Lewana for kindly extending your helping hand, this is greatly appreciated, but I better rely on your expert knowledge here since the diff between liths, wooden prints, and engravings really beats me :( --Taterian (talk) 00:42, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Gen. Franklin S. Nickerson.jpg.

Thank you.

File:Oliver Mark - Peter Jordan, Berlin 2009 (cropped).jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Treasury Relief Art Project[edit]

Hi there. In working through the categorization and licensing of New Deal post office mural images, I've found several recent uploads you've made for murals in California that are categorized as both Section of Painting and Sculpture and Treasury Relief Art Project. It's usually one or the other, not both; and comparatively few are TRAP works. Please check which category applies to each image as you go. Thanks. — WFinch (talk) 21:52, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
