Massive suppression of Maginot Line maps

What's the hell with that ?

There are plenty of discussions about the permission of these files, and if there is a problem with the ORTS, please communicate with this !!!!!

It is the fist time you are contributing on Commons ?

Borvan53 (talk) 20:22, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I'm on commons since decades and an active admin who looks regularly after some backlogs. About which images exactly you are talking about? --JuTa 20:30, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
Oh, I already spent enough time to save these images. Explaining what to do to a newbie was hard, but to an admin, it is hopeless.
You can notice that 8 maps are still remaining on Category:Maginot Line maps.
Have fun !

Dear JuTa My nickname is Саша 4х4 and I am a new user on Wikipedia. I think that we had a little misunderstanding about materials that I iclude in my artickles. On the first and second pages I wrote about Ерёмина Татьяна Алексеевна and Брантман Александр Моисеевич as I am their grandchild so, I have all the rights to post that photos and documents from my archives. On the third page I wrote about Гесс де Кальве Станислав Борисович, he was my uncle and this also means that I can post all the materials. All the photos were from my family private archives and were not posted anywhere. Which another way can I proof that I have all the rights for that documents and how can I protect them from deleting?

Thank you for your time! Sicerely,

Admin help required

Hi. I could not see Commons:Deletion requests/File:1966 Ankara MORILLON DE GAULE.jpg listed in daily DRs. Probably the person who is trying to get it deleted at any cost (now added a "no permission" tag to the file of his own upload; looks like he did not permit himself :) made a mistake at the time of request. I have seen you correcting malformed DRs frequently; could you check this one also, bitte? Thanks in advance and cheers. --E4024 (talk) 00:46, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

Commons:Derivative works

I consider my recent files deleted by you, for the alleged reason, extremely unfair, and therefore offensive.

I took the trouble to move around the city, spend hours away, have financial expense and I have the authorship placed in doubt?

Where have the photos I took at Fluminense Football Club already been published, being a member of the club and having access to its facilities, which most people do not have?

If there was any doubt, appropriate contact should have been made.

In the coming months I will leave Wikipedia, because living with people who chase the work of others for free, does not interest me.

Sincerely, Alexandre M. B. Berwanger (talk) 10:15, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

Hester Diamond

Hi. The photos from Hester Diamond's article were deleted, and the photographer, Rachel Kaminsky, sent the permission a while ago. I have a copy of the release; I will forward it to OTRS again now. I usually have people send releases to permissions-en; is there an email that's more efficient? And, do I need to upload them again or can they be restored? Thanks. JSFarman (talk) 03:35, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

They can be restored. Please ask on Commons:OTRS noticeboard for this case. --JuTa 03:39, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

2017 Climbing Beech in Hoppenrade DE.jpg

Hello JuTa, During the night there was a problem with the file:2017 Climbing Beech in Hoppenrade DE.jpg. We set the permit under the [Ticket#2021021710007114], I don't understand why the file was deleted. I have re-uploaded the file under the same name and permission. If there is a problem or more details are needed to make sure everything is entered correctly, please inform me.--Cookroach (talk) 06:31, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Well, when a release doesnt get confirmed by OTRS stuff within a month, such images a eligable for deletion. I now renewed the OTRS received tag, this gives another month pediod to clarify the case. Please ask on Commons:OTRS noticeboard about what was missing or wrong with it. --JuTa 15:20, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, for your answer. I have created a new section with this ticket-no. under Commons:OTRS noticeboard. I hope we can sort this out together.--Cookroach (talk) 17:26, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Surfing whitewater image

Hi, JuTa - my reason for contacting you is Otrs ticket#2021032510012743 and removal of the delete tag. I wondered if my adding it would cause confusion because I was a little confused over what to do myself, and I'm hoping you can clarify. I wasn't sure if I could/should remove the PD license; however, I am concerned over it being there considering we do not have a legitimate PD release from the photographer (re: the ticket). I added the Otrs email received tag and am awaiting for a proper release from the actual photog. Are you ok with the current questionable status of the PD license at File:Surfing whitewater.jpg or should there be some type of additional notation that it's pending? Thanks in advance, Atsme Talk 📧 15:05, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Well, there is a licence template tag on the desription page. If it is valid or not you should decide as OTRS agent. --JuTa 15:15, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

File:Meghna patel.jpg

Hi JuTa. Would you mind taking a look at File:Meghna patel.jpg and checking to see whether it's same a File:G2-MeghnaPatel 19-02-17 0306.jpg which you deleted March 16 for not having verifiable permission. I'm pretty sure it's the same photo uploaded by the same person, but only with a different name. FWIW, even though this file has EXIF data, it can be seen here under a license not accepted by Commons. So, even if the photographer and the uploader are the same, I think it needs OTRS verification at the very least to make sure it's not a copyvio. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:53, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Marked the other one as "no permissoin" too. --JuTa 16:24, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi,

You have mark this file: File:Pieczec reprezentacyjna gminy klodawa.jpg as derivative work missing information about the original work - but it hardly make sense in this case as it is a scan of official document defining official signs of the city. So it is very original work, the only source of official definition of these official signs. According to Polish law - "normative acts and drafts thereof as well as official documents, materials, signs and symbols are not subject to copyrights" - which practically means that they are in Public Domain no matter who was its original author. This is the same as for official COA's of US Federal agencies. Polimerek (talk) 13:55, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Well the uploader is not the author of it as claimed. But I now modified that. --JuTa 18:34, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello, would you mind undeleting this file? It is a cropped version of this file, for which we have a proper OTRS permission. Thank you, --Gnom (talk) 15:54, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Well, its not (only) a crop but (also) a much higher resolution. I assumed the copyright holder didn't released this one. --JuTa 18:42, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Copyright status query.

The file over which you questioned the copyright status is a screen-capture taken from a document available on the internet. There is a link to this document in the summary of that screen capture on its Wikimedia page. It is the same as the one which I duplicate here below:

http://datasheets.chipdb.org/Intel/x86/808x/datashts/8088/231456-006.pdf

The modifications to that file are my own and the purpose is to illustrate the concept expressed fully by the caption: The principal determinant of the bit classification of a microprocessor is the width of its data bus, not its internal architecture. The file illustrates the fact that although Intel's 8088 has a 16bit internal architecture it is nevertheless rated 8bit according to its data bus width, as shown.

Reading the document it contains no expressly written copyright restrictions and for this reason I referred to the "Terms of Use" text on their own website, here below.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/legal/terms-of-use.html

The pertinent paragraph in that document is 8.1.

I have since sent an email to Intel's copyright department to request explicit permission to use the excerpt I have uploaded and await their response. Vapourmile (talk) 20:17, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Well, the copyright belongs to Intel. Without a clear declaration through Commons:OTRS that the image can be published under a free license it cannot be kept on commons. --JuTa 20:20, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

File:Ambulância-urgência.jpg

Hi JuTa, Hope all's well, Just wondering should File:Ambulância-urgência.jpg have been deleted as looking on a Web Cache view the licence templates says "This license is not valid for content that was produced (i.e. date taken) by Agência Brasil after 23 February 2017" however the file was uploaded on 8 April 2005. I don't think a source was provided either unfortunately,

Could you undelete it please and I'll DR it to see what others think, Many thanks, Kind Regards, –Davey2010Talk 10:56, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

There was no proper source on the file description page. It was just: Ministério da Saúde/Divulgação/ABr. It got marked as having no source by User:A1Cafel. PS: There a a lot of similar cases in the queue: See Category:Media without a source as of 26 March 2021. --JuTa 13:26, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
Ah I see, I thought the template was enough but guess not. Thinking about it I guess anyone can add a licence template when they may of not got it rom that website anyway. Okay no worries - many thanks. kind regards, –Davey2010Talk 13:45, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Is it worth it?

I just checked in to my account and found several photos deleted. It's a sad thing for me - because of the wasted work -, and it's a sad thing for the other users of Wikipedia who will not see the images on the Wiki pages. A little more than a couple of weeks would have been nice - I could easily have entered that extra information (there is no copyright connected to those photos - online maps and old portraits of deceased people). Does this way of deleting files help Wikipedia? No, it doesn't.

--Danskebjerge (talk) 16:04, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

Well you claimed that those maps and image are created by yourself, which is obviouldy not true. They are created and likely copyrighted by other people. By that reason they cannot be kept on commons. regards --JuTa 17:02, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

Files to be deleted in User:Haroldomil

Good Morning, JuTa. I had read that there are some of my contributions in Wikipedia Commons listed for deletion:

In category of Source of derivative work is not properly indicated:
• File:Estacion Ponce.jpg
• File:Estacion San Juan 2.jpg
• File:Estacion-San-Juan 1.jpg
• File:FerrocarrilHistoricoMap.jpg
• File:American Railroad Company 1910.png
• File:MH 1. Honvéd Tűzszerész És Hadihajós Ezred.png

I am confused with Wikipedia Commons instructions about these kind of files to be stored in Wikipedia Commons. I am a non-native English speaker and some of the instructions on Wikipedia Commons are difficult to understand for me.

In the case of the file
• File:Haroldomil.jpg
Let indicate me what is missing in this file to keep them in Commons. It is an crop form an original photo taken with my camera, but as original photo was too large, I cut the image to make it usable. Of course, that is my own face and the drawing at my left if a reproduction on wood of the Degetau Portico, an public landmark in Puerto Rico.

Please do not feel offended neither take as personal attack. Thanks for yor attention. Haroldomil (talk) 15:51, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Well, its very hard to believe that all of them are your own work as claimed. They are likely scans of photos/maps/documents from where ever but not entily created by you. You should indicate where you got thos images from. Then we can decide if they are free enough to get kept on commons i.e. due to their age and the copyright rules of theirhome country. --JuTa 18:40, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
In which way can I provide the solicited data? Writing directly to you or posting the data inside the file pages? Thanks for your attention. Haroldomil (talk) 17:17, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
Writing it to the file description pages. This means you should provide (a link) to the source where you got the image from, who and when it was created, when the author lived (or died) and in best case the date and country of first publication. Copyright laws are complicated and can highly vary from country to country. --JuTa 17:24, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

File: Sir Andries Maasdorp.jpg

Hi JuTa. Sorry to bother you but need some guidance. The Maasdorp file has been removed due to the shortage of a source. I tried to show the source, but apparently that wasn't sufficient. Is it possible to indicate what further information was needed? Your help is appreciated. Tamolyn (talk) 20:36, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Well, a book, Men of the times, published 1906 is a bit vague as a source. Can you be more precise i.e the title of the book the page where you found it. The other thing: Why you are sure that the unknown author died before more than 70 years? Its easily possible the he/she lived past 1951, which would make the image still copyrighted. --JuTa 20:41, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Why did you remove that category? What if someone wants to take a picture of the elementary school, and release that picture into the public domain (or what if there already exists one somehow that happens to be in the public domain)? PseudoSkull (talk) 20:27, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Also, scans of yearbooks released before March 1989 would usually count as in the public domain. PseudoSkull (talk) 20:29, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
It can easily be recreated or restored as soon there will be content for it. --JuTa 20:32, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
But if you think its usefull even now, recreate it but use some senefull parent categories for it. --JuTa 20:34, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
(Come to think of it, there may be some serious personality rights-related issues with uploading elementary school yearbooks, which may be why it's hard for me to find any elementary school yearbook scans online through a simple search, especially not ones as recent as the 1980s. High school scans are easy to find though, and since some students in those yearbooks would have been 18 or older at the time of their entry in the yearbooks, those may be less of an issue. This shouldn't effect any yearbook's copyright status, but there may be other issues with uploading some entire yearbook scans here at Commons, that could get us into legal trouble perhaps.) Hopefully it'd still be okay though, because I do have several yearbooks that would fit the PD criteria in my collection. None of them are of this elementary school, though, so I don't think there's a huge issue with leaving this category deleted for now then. PseudoSkull (talk) 20:41, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Copyrights for Vril-Ya Bazaar images

Thanks for your help. As you can see on the discussion on the talk page for EugeneZelenko, I was struggling to figure out how to show that these images from 1891 (and thus clearly in the public domain) should be tagged to show their copyright-free status. Rather than just tell me that I had done it wrong and tell me to fix it, you actually inserted the correct template in two of them and thus made it easy for me to bring the others into compliance. While I understand the need to comply with copyright law and applaud the diligent efforts to protect the rights of creators, the complexity of compliance is a huge barrier to participation for casual users of Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons like me. --JohnPomeranz (talk) 15:31, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi, JuTa
About that file: I already wrote that I found it on the Vietnamese Wikipedia, where it is tagged as non-copyrighted — which seems obvious to me, since that stamp was issued in 1930 (91 years ago) by a French Indochina service that passed from the scene in 1941 (80 years ago). The French copyright expires after 70 years, so all French works published before 1951 are in public domain.
You may remove the file if it is against other laws, naturally, but it would be a pity, given that Captain Đỗ Hữu Vị appears only in the Vietnamese, French and Breton wikis.
Regards, Kevregourez (talk) 17:07, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi, there was no license template at all on the decription page. The given source(s) didnt indicate that the image is/was in publich domain. They didn't showed the image at all. According description the image could have created between 19543 and 1961, which is much too young to be public domain. regards --JuTa 19:08, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

A question regarding permission status (File:Antoine Bondaz.jpg)

Hello JuTa, As the picture was used on an article on my watchlist on the French Wikipedia, I have just quick question "en passant" regarding the file File:Antoine Bondaz.jpg, which you recently delted with the mention "still no license at all" (1). According to this message (2), the copyright owner is supposed to have sent a permission of use via OTRS. Would you know if this has been checked before deleting the file? Kind regards, --Dominique Roux (talk) 13:14, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi, you can ask on Commons:OTRS noticeboard about the ´status of that ticket. I have no access to those mails, as I am not a member of the OTRS team. Thx. --JuTa 13:29, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

However, the owner Paul Rolan <paul.rolan@adelaide.edu.au> assures me that he sent the OTRS permission on 4 March 2021.

Dosseman (talk) 10:45, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

There are deletion requests allready running. Please be patient and wait till they get decided. --JuTa 04:34, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi JuTa, can you explain why you deleted these files? I am having a hard time understanding it from reading the deletion request page. Thank you, --Gnom (talk) 09:39, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Because they are either copyright violations and/or out of scope. --JuTa 10:39, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
If I may chime in: Most of the images (except those from the first deletion request) seem to be actually in scope, as they depict notable politicians (e.g. Michael Kuffer, Wolfgang Wiehle) which leaves only the potential copyright issue. Uploader Dettmero stated that these are their own pictures and that the blog cited by Patrick Rogel as an indication of copyright violation is their own. Not such a clear case of copyvio IMHO, but maybe an OTRS permission should have been suggested. Gestumblindi (talk) 16:15, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
Yep, OTRS could result restorarion here. --JuTa 17:49, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

For what reason did you delete all the photos that I added, although all of the photos were taken more than 80 years ago and each of them were public photos? for what reason??? Fenerbahce1994 (talk) 13:45, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

  • And while you are not so active at DRs, you deleted many files by another user about Turks, just as in this case; since several days we (the uploader and myself) are trying to find out uses of those files -because, thanks a lot, you uploaded them back- to put them again in their original WD or WP places. If you are not so active in DRs, please keep that low profile of yours in this area "generalized", this way no-one will tend to doubt your intentions. I do not doubt them, but understand the frustration of the above user. Believe me I'm embarrassed (not afraid) of writing these lines. I do assume good faith on everybody, and especially our admins here. You could try to keep away from certain DRs not to receive reactions like the above; if the concerned files have to be deleted some other admin will do it, they will not stay here eternally if they have issues. Again, sorry to write these lines, but I felt obliged to, as you made two mass deletions in a row about files which are, IMHO of course, legitimate uploads. Entschuldigen Sie bitte. Friendly greetings. --E4024 (talk) 14:04, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
I only can repeat myself_ I deleted most because their source links are either not accessible or not showing the images, or the images are too young for the license or the author lived "too long". --JuTa 17:53, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Logo copyright for non profit organization

Hi JuTa, You left me a message about the copyright of this logo : https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Logo-sorry-children.svg

I don't know what I should do, this logo is owned by the Sorry Children non profit organization and I am vice-president of it so I can guarantee it's alright to for me to use it.

Thus, I do not want anyone to use the logo for any purpose, which is, I guess, quite common when talking about logos. For example I would not like a company making profit to use it in its communication.

What should I do then ? What are the non-profit organizations doing usually to upload their logo on Wikipedia ? Let's say Greenpeace, I guess the logo is not under public domain... ?

In other words, I m a bit lost there Thanks by advance for your help — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pier5069 (talk • contribs) 16:24, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

Well, then the image cannot be kept on commmons because everything here must be reuseable for anybody in the world for any purpose inclide commercialy. See Commons:Licensing. --JuTa 20:11, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

Is it really ?? All companies and organizations having their logo here set it under public domain ? That s very surprising ! Pier5069 17:44, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Yes but they all have a correspondig license-template on the description page like {{PD-textlogo}} or similar. --JuTa 22:03, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Restore

Hello, @JuTa

i missed to put the permission code for this files

uploaded from trust user Habib kaki flickr profile and the licence is {{cc-zero}} cordially Nehaoua (talk) 23:00, 20 April 2021 (UTC) Nehaoua (talk) 23:33, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, there was no license template on the description page. You may reupload them but apply a valid license. You could try to ask the deleting admin User:Hedwig in Washington. PS: The correct license is likely {{PD-author-FlickrPDM}} and not CC0. --JuTa 23:43, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Thank's Nehaoua (talk) 00:04, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
PPS: It would be nice if you could try to upload less duplicate files. --JuTa 00:06, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
I try the next upload to not upload the duplicate files, but there isn't a method for verification before upload by the "Flickr-to-Commons" Nehaoua (talk) 00:11, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
You could try to search on commons for some flickr numbers before starting a batch. If you find (most) images allready uploaded, dont start the batch. --JuTa 00:13, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
I was thinking to use this method, Thanks Nehaoua (talk) 00:18, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Please undelete

In https://ticket.wikimedia.org/otrs/index.pl?Action=AgentTicketZoom;TicketID=11778970 we have got a valid release for these pictures as CC-BY-SA 4.0

Could you restore it? Best regards Nsaa (talk) 17:14, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Old Terminal GLRB in 2006.jpg undeletion

Hello. You have deleted file Old_Terminal_GLRB_in_2006.jpg claiming that it had no OTRS permission since 12-Mar-2021.

However, as per my email records the OTRS release was submitted on 12-Mar-2021 and processed the same day under Ticket#2021031210006819 by an "Otto Ottensen".

Kindly check that ticket number to verify the correct release and then undelete the picture accordingly.

Thank you for your time and assistance!

Hi there was no OTRS confirmation for more than a month. Please ask at Commons:OTRS noticeboard for it as I cannot see the mails. --JuTa 04:25, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Je me trompe? Merci --Yasminkaa (talk) 20:47, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, but for such logos likely previously publihsed elsewhere we require a confirmation through Commons:OTRS. --JuTa 06:14, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
what exactly is the confirmation? what do I have to do? --Qwerty123890 (talk) 06:39, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Read Commons:OTRS and send an email to the commons support team as instructed, or ask the copyholder to do so. --JuTa 06:42, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Image Undeletion

Hi JuTa,

I have sent today the copyright info via email of these two images, but I guess it was late (sorry I'm learning, these are my first contributions).

Reservoir-songs-whisky-a-go-go.jpg  Reservoir-songs-en-vivo.jpg

Would you kindly undelete them?

Thank You, Victoria — Preceding unsigned comment added by GomezVic (talk • contribs) 22:50, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Please be patient and wait for OTRS stuff to handle the case, or ask on Commons:OTRS noticeboard for it. If everything checks out OK, they will arrange the undeletion. --JuTa 22:55, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Good afternoon. Please restore this photo that you deleted recently. On the website from which I downloaded it, the necessary license is specified in the basement in order to freely use the content. Thank you for your understanding.--Максим Огородник (talk) 15:16, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

OK, but I had to do some fixes to the description page as well. --JuTa 15:29, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Good afternoon. Please restore this file again, as the website already has the required license. And one more thing: why is this file being deleted again?--Максим Огородник (talk) 12:35, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

1. Thats because {{ChMR}} is not a license template. I fixed it by adding {{Cc-by-4.0}}. --JuTa 14:25, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
2. Thats because you removed the license template {{Cc-by-4.0}} with a non-existant one - see here. --JuTa 14:28, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, didn't mean to upload duplicates. Actually finding what NHHC photos already exist on Commons isn't exactly the easiest thing (lots were very early images transferred from enwiki, and lots have very mangled names, little metadata, and unhelpful categories). I'm going through the NHHC archive one-by-one, and 'sets' like File:Philip V. Lansdale, as a Lieutenant - NH 119.tiff, File:Lieutenant Philip V. Lansdale, killed at Samoa.jpg and File:Philip V. Lansdale, as a Lieutenant - NH 119 - cropped.jpeg are more what I'm aiming for, if the image is already being used. I'm also working on getting the names and designations of US Navy ships sorted out (see Category:Disambiguation categories of naval ships of the United States for a bit of the progress I've made, and the pages in Category:Plunger class submarines (adding redirects, hatnotes, etc, to try to deconvolve these things).

Anyhow, if I do it again (it will probably happen, tbh) just know that I'm sorry for the extra work, and I'm pretty sure I'm finding most of them as I go (you can see the number of low-res ones I've overwritten in my history). I'm also trying to fix the file pages to a more 'modern' format using templates and the correct metadata, and get infoboxes working correctly as I go. Jarnsax (talk) 18:52, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

No problem with one duplicate, we getting hundrets a day - see Special:ListDuplicatedFiles. regards. --JuTa 19:55, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

File

Good afternoon. These files (1, 2) should be deleted, because they don't belong to me, and they are my old errors that I was once blocked for. I want to fix the situation and forget about these files. Thank you for your understanding.--Максим Огородник (talk) 05:02, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

You started regular deletion requests. Please be patient until an admin will decide them. --JuTa 05:06, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello JuTa, By what right was the file deleted this time, why can't the administrators communicate with each other? Please contact the user @Jeff G.: to the corresponding OTRS ticket and the progress we have made there. The reason is no longer given and thus the deletion unjustified. Users should inform themselves about their rights and duties, but from admins you can not even demand that they exchange about running processes. Please provide feedback on what should happen in the future and how ? If it is correct that all files under this ticket, which do not yet comply with the guidelines are deleted, then it does. If it is not right, then do not arbitrarily delete individual files, it is a considerable extra work, the files and links to the pages jdesmal again. Please, as admins who make which deletions and those who give the permissions, agree on what should happen in the near future - I expect a correct decision, thank you.--Cookroach (talk) 09:24, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Please ask on Commons:OTRS noticeboard about what was wrong or missing with that image. They will arrange undeletion in the release turned out valid. The Ticket ID was 2021021710007114. --JuTa 09:57, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
I know the ticket-ID, it's my. Under this ticket there is a continued process, which is still running. It is agreed with User:Jeff G. that until the process is complete no existing images will be deleted and no new ones will be uploaded. Please inquire about this under the ticket and do not delete any more files or agree with @Jeff G.: something that does not lead to constant confusion.--Cookroach (talk) 10:13, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
@Cookroach: I replied at COM:ON#to Ticket#2021021710007114. Please discuss there.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 11:37, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

--AntonProtsiuk (WMUA) (обговорення) 13:30, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

Descriptions in Middle English

I’m an editor in Middle English Wikipedia and I should like to add descriptions to images in Middle English. I have found the image File:APictureOfAnIsraeliFloor.jpg and I have translated the description to Hebrew but when I translate it to Middle English it says that enm is an unrecognized value. Can you help? Btw, the translation to Middle English is An Israeli flore. Thanks in advance. -Gifnk dlm 2020 (talk) 13:36, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, no idea. I dont work with captions. Please ask on Commons:Village pump or similar. --JuTa 14:47, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
OK. Thanks anyway. I will ask in Village pump. -Gifnk dlm 2020 (talk) 17:40, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

Hallo JuTa! Schönen Gruß, --JPF (talk) 20:42, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

As you can see in the history of File:Messkirch Mocking of Christ.jpg: These two files are not the same (look at the frame). COM:OVERWRITE was violated. Please be careful when it comes to art. Thank you, Multichill (talk) 10:11, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

Please explain edit

Hello. Can you please explain your edit here? I don't want it to be deleted. It's an own work by User:Undanurvägen of a sleeve insignia which has been around since at least 1878. So the actual sleeve insignia isn't copyrighted. What's needed to keep it from getting deleted? Saftgurka (talk) 07:58, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Its hard to believe thatthe uploader realy designed and created it without external sources. We would need where he/she got it from. --JuTa 08:01, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
I do not think the user is still on Wikipedia/Commons, but there are hundreds of pictures of old Swedish rank insignias under free license on digitaltmuseum.se. Here is the star, here is one galloon, here is a second galloon and here is a jacket with sleeve insignia etc. Would that work as a source? Saftgurka (talk) 08:46, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
The third one could work as source. But keep it as "own work based on https://digitaltmuseum.se/011024818328/galon" because the source aus "NC" (non commercial) which doesnt fit to commons rules. --JuTa 09:12, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok, great. I will do that. Is it ok to remove the "dw no source since" template from the image now and add what we just discussed? Saftgurka (talk) 09:32, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
yes. --JuTa 10:46, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Posting of photos on 2 sites (Carl Ljunggren and Spel-Fredrik)

Hi JuTa... I do not understand the problem you point to.

I have posted a couple of (more than 100 year old) photographs on 2 different sites. The photos have been preserved by local historians. They are presented as I received them, not edited by me. The photos, as far as I know, not been copyrighted, tho they have appeared in various articles and newspapers over time. I have no record of this. Please explain the problem in a way that I (amateur) can understand and I will do my best to present appropriately. Thank you! Mary — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mary JBarthelemy (talk • contribs) 11:05, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi Mary JBarthelemy, the problem was that you declared the images as your own work and used the license {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}} which requires everybody using it has to name you as the author. That is definitly not the case. But another user fixed that inbetween. regards. --JuTa 14:03, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
