Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hello Artur Sik -- I have changed the file size at File:Matthew Perry and Valerie Jarrett in support of Awareness on Drug Courts and Reduce Substance Abuse (cropped) (2).jpg to match your extracted version (I like your image framing a little better). This means the 2 images are now identical. Here's how I propose to fix this:

(1) I'll change the wikidata file and the English version infobox file back to File:Matthew Perry and Valerie Jarrett in support of Awareness on Drug Courts and Reduce Substance Abuse (cropped) (2).jpg. This should remove all the usages of File:Matthew Perry Awareness on Drug Courts and Reduce Substance Abuse.jpg.

(2) I'll get an admin to delete File:Matthew Perry Awareness on Drug Courts and Reduce Substance Abuse.jpg since it will have no usages and be an exact duplicate of the other file.

(3) I'll change the name of File:Matthew Perry and Valerie Jarrett in support of Awareness on Drug Courts and Reduce Substance Abuse (cropped) (2).jpg to File:Matthew Perry Awareness on Drug Courts and Reduce Substance Abuse.jpg. Then all the usages will be of the same file, and it will have your name and your image size.

I would have done it the other way around, but the current remaining usages of File:Matthew Perry and Valerie Jarrett in support of Awareness on Drug Courts and Reduce Substance Abuse (cropped) (2).jpg appear to all be hard coded, and it would be a nuisance to fix them individually.

What do you think? If you don't approve, then I will do nothing. But, sooner later, some admin will probably detect the duplication and fix it his own way.

Hi ya WikiPedant. What you're proposing makes total sense. The only reason I did not overwrite the original version and instead uploaded as a new file was because CropTool would not allow me to overwrite. Go ahead with the changes. Thanks for checking in with me first. ArturSik (talk) 21:50, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Artur -- OK, step (1) is done and (2) is requested. Now we'll wait for the opportunity to complete step (3). Thanks for helping. -- WikiPedant (talk) 23:03, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Artur -- Well, admin Túrelio performed step (2) but he left File:Matthew Perry Awareness on Drug Courts and Reduce Substance Abuse.jpg as a redirect (probably not a bad idea), so I can't perform step (3) and re-use that file name. At this stage, I'm pretty content to just let it be. Any thoughts? -- WikiPedant (talk) 18:39, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi WikiPedant. Sorry for the late reply. I'd still change the name as it's really long and includes the name of the person who appears in the original picture but not in the crop. I'd change it to "Matthew Perry in support of Awareness on Drug Courts and Reduce Substance Abuse (2).jpg". What do you think? ArturSik (talk) 20:28, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, Artur, and have shortened the file name to be File:Matthew Perry in support of Awareness on Drug Courts and Reduced Substance Abuse.jpg, eliminating the second person's name and fixing the grammatical error in "Reduce". There's quite a tangle of alternate versions and redirects out there, but I've at least eliminated the redirects in the English Wikipedia and at Wikidata. I don't entirely trust the "mass replacement" tools that are available, so I'll stop there. Best regards -- WikiPedant (talk) 21:55, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you uploaded a file using the same name as another file, which already existed on Commons. Overwriting an existing file should not be done except when making minor, uncontroversial corrections, so the file has been restored to its previous version. If the file that you attempted to upload is within our project scope and is in the public domain or published under a free license, please upload it again under a different name. Thank you. For more information, please see Commons:Overwriting files.

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 16:01, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
