Removal of template

Why did you remove the {{GPS EXIF}} template? What exactly is missing? The output of en:Exiftool looks complete:

GPS Latitude                    : 59 deg 22' 15.37"
GPS Longitude                   : 18 deg 7' 58.70"
GPS Altitude                    : 0.028 m
GPS Position                    : 59 deg 22' 15.37", 18 deg 7' 58.70"

Stefan4 (talk) 20:52, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What about "GPSLatitudeRef" and "GPSLongitudeRef"? Is the object located on northern or southern hemisphere? Eastern or western? It's quite easy task for a human but not for a bot. That's why the bot hasn't been able to process the image since 18 of June. And that's why I have removed {{GPS EXIF}} template - because GPS data is incomplete. Jdx (talk) 22:05, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wouldn't the GPS tags just use ± to indicate N/S/E/W? --Stefan4 (talk) 22:12, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm far from being geotagging/EXIF guru but I think that you must use the tags that I mentioned earlier. Look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geotagging#JPEG_photos Jdx (talk) 22:31, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK, so I've edited the file using Exiftool. Let's see what happens now. --Stefan4 (talk) 22:39, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that it still doesn't work. Perhaps you have to add also other tags, eg. "GPSVersionID". Anyway, unless you want to study geotagging/EXIF internals I suggest using Geosetter or similar software. Or insert {{Location}} template manually. Jdx (talk) 11:36, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 03:27, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Monaster w Sakach

Pozdrawiam Roman Miller (talk) 15:46, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of the Year 2013 R2 Announcement

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2013 is open!

2012 Picture of the Year: A pair of European Bee-eaters in Ariège, France.

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 7 March 2014. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2013/Introduction/en Click here to learn more and vote »]

Odp. cerkiew w Czarnej Wielkiej

Loraine (talk) 17:25, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Odp. ruiny kaplicy w Łowiczu

Wygląda na to, że masz rację. Uwzględniłam to w opisie pliku. Loraine (talk) 17:33, 27 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Loga SVG

File:Predom-EDA.svg

Powyżej wyjaśniłem pokrótce kwestię praw autorskich do wektoryzacji.
Poznaniak (dyskusja) 12:08, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Zamiana {{OP}} na {{Jdx/Archive 1}}

Selso (talk) 16:16, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

POTY

Hello, I noticed that you notified a number of users regarding poty translation whiteout consulting with the committee first and before the POTY results are verified and announced. Apart from that i also had to revert some of your edits a while ago (adding of categories in a wrong way). Please don't do that again, the committee is deciding stuff - not a single user. If you are interested in helping in 2016 please add your name here. --Steinsplitter (talk) 07:10, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Steinsplitter: Regarding notification – I don't see my mistake here. I haven't notified general public about results (and I don't intend to), but 60-something translators about translation which needs to be updated. The end of the contest is rather important information and translations should be updated, especially that we will have to wait some time for the official results. Regarding categorization of POTY's messages – yeah, it's my bad. I haven't been careful enough. --jdx Re: 08:17, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sending out a notification to x-users for a simple update is not okay, especially because the page needs a update soon. And the POTY committee is managing the poty stuff, such as notifications etc. If you don't see the error, then your TA access schould be revoked. The notification tool is just for important stuff, sending out a notice for every little update is not okay. --Steinsplitter (talk) 08:35, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I can accept that notification about a small update is not OK, however I don't feel guilty because I can't see what's wrong and what's right in mw:Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation administration. Also there is no hint or a link to a help page in Special:NotifyTranslators. And yes, I know that the committee manages notifications, but as far as I understand this document, not this kind of notifications. --jdx Re: 09:42, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, he didn't try to "forge", he's just lost with our way of working... just as 95% of non-wikimedian people... especially non-geek middle-aged artistic minds ;-)

Thanks for the great effort reducing the number of unpatrolled edits! Before, unpatrolled edits are at 20K, 21K, or even 27K. But now it is at 16K! I wondered who is/are the user(s) that spent their time to patrol Commons, and seeing the patrol log (in manual patrol mode), most of the patrols are from you. Keep it up, your contributions are appreciated! Poké95 07:27, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

szablony

Hi there.

I am the author and copyright owner of the image.

I've submitted proper release to Wikipedia via email.

Thank you for making sure that only authorized users were making the contribution, public domain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Districtmemberboard (talk • contribs) 02:19, 02 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator

Any interest in becoming a Commons administrator? You definitely have the qualifications. INeverCry 01:50, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@INeverCry: Yes, I am interested. However I am not so optimistic about my qualifications. First I have to read "Commons Administration for Dummies" and related stuff. So give me a few weeks before you nominate me. --jdx Re: 20:32, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good to me. Let me know if and when you're ready. 3000 edits in the Commons namespace, regular reporting of vandals and socks to AN, and plenty of DR/CSD experience makes you a strong candidate. As for really learning to use the tools, you've got to have the tools first. It's kind of like reading about how to ride a bike. You'll never know how to ride without getting on a bike and peddling around. Here you mostly end up copying what the active admins are doing when you start out.

Note: I see you have en-1 listed on your userpage; I would suggest changing that to en-3 based on your response here. INeverCry 20:48, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hehe was just passing by your talk page. I was going to suggest you to apply for adminship. Looks like INC beat me to it. :P Jianhui67 talkcontribs 07:24, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I was about to ask you exactly the same. :) I am sure you would be a good addition to the admin team. You have the necessary skills, etc. --Steinsplitter (talk) 06:44, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, that IP is not a vandal... though the person is annoying. It's someone from the Reno Chamber of Commerce (who refuses to create an account) that has been harassing me, and a few other people, on IRC about a huge number of logos of various businesses they dump on WP:FFU. The logos are themselves (at least inherently) fine... the attitude, and the intended use (see en:Ovation Brands) gets very obnoxious, and their later edits to the file pages are indeed occasionally bs. Thanks for reverting there. Reventtalk 23:04, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pechkurov spam

Thanks for flagging this - note that if other blatant socks pop up, it's easier and quicker to report them at COM:ANU (which I'd already done in this case, ten minutes before you opened the deletion discussions). --McGeddon (talk) 11:44, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, or COM:AN/B, in fact - looks like somebody else got him there as well. --McGeddon (talk) 11:53, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@McGeddon: Yes, I know that you have reported this guy on COM:ANU. This is why I have nominated his stuff for deletion. --jdx Re: 12:02, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, right. Wouldn't the closing admin just delete all the user's content anyway when they blocked them? --McGeddon (talk) 12:37, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Do not place Template:Convert to SVG outside of Template:Information. It's not pretty, it's not helpful, and it encourages flagging more templates outside of the box inappropriately where they become less accessible. The information template supports other fields with Template:Information field. Note that it should be accepted practice to also use Template:Extracted from is allowed in source/other version fields and Template:Vector version available in other version field too, similarly to Template:Convert to SVG. 80.221.159.67 13:28, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A question

Can you please answer why you tagged Commons:WLMNP2016 for speedy deletion? This page is shortcut page for Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in Nepal. I created this shortcut page just like Commons:WLMNG2016Bibek bro (talk) 08:32, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Bibek bro: Because COM:WLMNP2016 was not a shortcut, it was a copy of Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in Nepal. Now it is a shortcut. --jdx Re: 09:01, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Karimov 2013.jpg

Greeting. Can you explain me, why you deleted my photo which I uploaded from Flickr? Few months ago, I uploaded similar photo from Flickr, photo Karimov Latvia.jpg, and administrator allowed photo! Photos from the Flickr account of Latvian Saeima are free and users can use it on Wikipedia. I cited the author and source, I wrote link, everything! Where is the problem? --~~Franjo Lozancic~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Franjo Lozancic (talk • contribs) 14:49, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Franjo Lozancic: First of all, I didn't delete it. I reported it as copyright violation and then an administrator deleted it. The source photo is licenced under CC-BY-NC-ND which is not allowed on Commons. On the other hand, the source of File:Karimov Latvia.jpg is licenced under CC-BY-SA which is allowed. --jdx Re: 17:22, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Worthless Opinions.

Hello, my Polish friend. I just thought I'd put you right on a couple of things regarding your comments here.

The tank in the photograph is a Mark II Female, C21 of C Company, named The Perfect Lady, equipped with Lewis guns. (Source: David Fletcher, British Battle Tanks, World War I to 1939, Pub Osprey 2016, p35) This and other Mark II tanks fought at Bullecourt, Arras, Monchy, and Neuville Vitasse in April 1917 (The Fighting Tanks Since 1916; Jones, Rary, and Icks; WE Inc, 1933, p9) but did not serve at Cambrai except as supply tanks (Source: both of the above plus any respectable work on Cambrai). A Mark II with Lewis guns cannot, therefore, have been at Cambrai. If you look at this photograph from the IWM you will see that the caption reads "THE BATTLE OF ARRAS, APRIL-MAY 1917, part of "MINISTRY OF INFORMATION FIRST WORLD WAR OFFICIAL COLLECTION" (photographs) Made by: Brooke, John Warwick (Lieutenant) (Photographer)Q 6298, Two Mark II tanks of the 'C' Battalion (C21 and C26) going into action." The picture under discussion was taken at the same time as and belongs with these photographs.

You can also see C21 in another IWM photo on her own here, captioned "THE BATTLE OF ARRAS, APRIL-MAY 1917".

Unfortunately, the Illustrated London News of December 1st, 1917, as part of its coverage of Cambrai, used photographs of C21 and C26 crossing a trench, with the caption "'The Perfect Lady' - here a tank makes easy work of crossing the trenches." They don't seem to have noticed that these are two different tanks, one male and one female. The mistake is reproduced in Chris McNab's Battle Story Cambrai. The book even has C21 on the cover. This is another example of Wikipedia's fatal flaw: a reliable source providing information that is completely wrong.

BTW, The Perfect Lady was commanded by Lieutenant G. Salter, and was destroyed by "friendly fire" and abandoned, on April 11th, 1917, seven months before Cambrai. If you want a source for that, there's Monchy le Preux by Colin Fox, Pub Leo Cooper, 2000. One crew member was killed, and 5 wounded.

And this is what happens when a Wikipedian encounters someone who knows what they are talking about. Instead of doing some research, you can only manage to be abusive. You could, rather than being a smartarse, have done what I have done, which is to speak to the Imperial War Museum, explain the mistake, and send them details so that the mistake can be corrected. The IWM's caption is wrong. That can happen. It will shortly be corrected. Since I have provided sources that correctly identify the tank, and I don't want to waste any more of my time, I propose to reinstate my correction here. Or would you prefer to wait until the IWM have made their corrections?

Post your reply here. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 5.81.176.181 (talk) 22:49, 04 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How can anybody know that an anonym knows what he is talking about when information he provides is contradictory to the information provided by reputable institution and he does not give a word of explanation? How can anybody treat him seriously? Also I could not have done what you have done – WWI is not my field of expertise. Anyway, I really appreciate that you have informed IWM about the issue and I will change the photo's description and copy your message to the file talk page. --jdx Re: 07:37, 5 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You just have deleted my user image that was uploaded as "File:Arian Writing.jpeg" Copyright violation.But there was no copyright violation. Thank you. Arian Writing (talk) 22:04, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Arian Writing: You are not the author of the photo, it was published on Facebook and on Flickr and there is no indication that it is licenced under a free licence. That's why I deleted it. However it is still possible to undelete the photo – please read COM:OTRS. --jdx Re: 22:50, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) @Arian Writing: And please don't reupload deleted content just like what you did on File:Arian Writing.jpeg. @Arian Writing: Log in to your Flickr account, change the photo's licence to a free one (i.e. CC-BY, CC-BY-SA or CC0) and let know about it on COM:AN (or here). Then an administrator will review the licence and undelete the photo. --jdx Re: 10:04, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I also expect that the number of unpatrolled edits will increase, since you're now an admin. Once a patroller becomes an admin, their time will be divided between patrolling stuff and admin tasks, since there are a lot of admin backlogs to do, like COM:DR, and COM:CSD. Edit request

Thank you for editing the template W. May I ask you to do another edit on a protected template: if the optional parameter style is added to the attributes of {{Partnership-Layout}} it can be better modified. The first part of the template should be replaced by

<noinclude>{|</noinclude>class="layouttemplate licensetpl mw-content-{{Dir|{{{lang}}}}}" lang="{{{lang|{{int:lang}}}}}" cellspacing="8" cellpadding="0" style="width:100%;clear:both;margin:0.5em auto;background-color:#e2f2d2;border:2px solid #acce79;direction:{{Dir|{{{lang}}}}};{{{style|}}}"{{License template tag}}<noinclude>

to insert that parameter. After insertion I will maintain the documentation. Thank you sarang사랑 11:26, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Sarang: Done, but I left old colours in order not to change appearance of templates such as {{GFDL}}. --jdx Re: 17:45, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, good that you looked so careful - seems that I mixed up something instead of my caring... It should have been
<noinclude>{|</noinclude>cellspacing="8" cellpadding="0" style="width:100%;clear:both;text-align:center;margin:0.5em auto;background-color:#f9f9f9;border:2px solid #e0e0e0;direction: {{Dir|{{{lang|{{int:Lang}}}}}}};{{{style|}}}" class="layouttemplate partnershiptemplate"<noinclude>

instead, but it will work fine as it is now. Sorry for my fault, next time I will look and check more often. sarang사랑 06:34, 17 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Sarang: OK, I changed the code to the proper version. --jdx Re: 08:50, 17 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just FYI, the author (who is a professional photographer) was displeased that the images he had donated to Commons were ranking higher for his name in Google Search results than his own website, and so asked (via email) that the attribution be changed... they are all still sourced to his Flickr stream, they just don't actually show his name in the visible text. IPv6 blocks

Hi Jdx. I noticed your vandalism block of Special:Contributions/2607:FB90:1BC6:D909:4A6D:7080:DDD7:DDC. I've re-blocked with a rangeblock of the /64. IPv6 IPs are assigned to regular ISP customers in blocks of /64 usually, so blocking only the one address may only last a few minutes. This range block of 2607:FB90:1BC6:D909:0:0:0:0/64 is like blocking a single regular IPv4 address. When you want to block an IPv6 vandal, just type in a /64 after the single address and the software will automatically block the whole /64. A little something I learned as a checkuser way back when. You're doing an excellent job as an admin so far BTW. lNeverCry 05:16, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

One other note, unrelated. Since you do some patrolling, if you see any IPs editing roadsign images and categories, can you let me know on my talk? IP edits like these: Special:Contributions/144.136.88.8 come from the most active LTA sockmaster on Commons, Jermboy27 (globally locked). He mixes in some vandal edits with good ones. He's been at it for nearly 10 years now here on Commons, and has likely done 1 million+ edits. He's not like most sockmasters. He often has static IPs that he uses for years, so my blocks of his IPs are often for a year or more. I've seen a few IPs that he's used on and off for 5 years or more. He's probably the most active sockmaster in WMF history, nevermind just Commons. lNeverCry 05:33, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@INeverCry: Yeah, recently I've seen a lot of edits related to road signs (mostly German) and I believe all of them have been made by 144.136.88.8 mentioned above. However they haven't looked harmful to me. Now I'll be more careful. --jdx Re: 06:00, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, two of his methods are adding doing just a few bad edits that break templates, etc out of a larger number of edits, or creating categories that're really only differently named dupes of other categories, etc. He's based in New Zealand, so his IPs are almost always based in NZ or Perth Australia. He'll use a transparent proxy now and then, but it's rare to see that or especially slow open proxies. He also creates an account once in a while to upload roadsign images, sometimes good sometimes fake, but that's also very rare. I do my best to slow him down and make things a bit more difficult for him. Nobody can like having to repeat hours worth of work, and I would hate to have any LTA feel comfortable here at Commons... lNeverCry 06:20, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent change in markAdmins Gadget

Let me thank you also on your talk page, but – yes, there is something :-) – you introduced a small typo: variblesvariables. — Speravir – 20:35, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Speravir: Fixed, but please look closer at the diff – I'm not the person who introduced the typo. --jdx Re: 20:55, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oops. Sorry, and thank you, again. — Speravir – 21:03, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Another observation – I’ve added the code into my commons.js and noticed, that a cosmetic change would perhaps be good: Instead of using line comments the user config code could be included in a block comment and a bit of the indentation could be removed also. What do you think about this? What I exactly mean:
// of stewards and local OTRS members, following lines must be added):
//		window.markAdminCfg =	{ groups: {
//									sysop:			{ enabled: false },
//									steward:		{ enabled: true },
//									'OTRS-member':	{ enabled: true }
//										  }
//					  			};
converting to (I changed also some tab to space chars)
// of stewards and local OTRS members, following lines must be added (without '/*' and '*/'):
/*
window.markAdminCfg = { groups: {
							sysop: { enabled: false },
							steward: { enabled: true },
							'OTRS-member': { enabled: true }
							  }
		  			};
*/
BTW the tab chars are nasty: They look different in edit window here than in preview or after saving. I therefore usually prefer spaces, though the code size gets bigger (I’m not a coder), in my commons.js I left out most of this white space. — Speravir – 18:57, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Speravir: I just wanted comment style to be consistent with the rest of the file – the original authors have used double slash comments for multi-line comments. Also please note that the block comment at the top is a comment for documentation generators such as Doxygen or Javadoc. Anyway, IMO it's not worth to touch it. --jdx Re: 20:03, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well then. I can live with it, but thought of others. — Speravir – 20:38, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings sir. May I request moving of this picture from the Russian Wiki to Commons? The author appears to give approval for this picture's use. The picture is needed for this article. Samuel David Alexander.jpg

I don't understand why you reverse my decision to cancell the request for deletion. My answer to Magog seems quite clear: this is a photography and the croatian law says: a photograph or a work of applied art published before January 1, 1974 is in the public domain. The man on the photo died during WWII.--FLLL (talk) 14:30, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@FLLL: Do you mean this edit? I reverted it because:
  1. the proper place for discussion is DR page, i.e. Commons:Deletion requests/File:Samuel David Alexander.jpg,
  2. removing {{Delete}} template from file description page does not cancel properly filled DR,
  3. you removed the template anonymously, without a word of explanation in edit summary what strongly suggests a vandalism.
--jdx Re: 15:41, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You will note that before deleting the template, I have written the reason on Commons:Deletion requests/File:Samuel David Alexander.jpg, and secondly, I find Magog a little speedy to ask for deletion, without having read the special croatian template which was mentionned on the File:Samuel David Alexander.jpg page.--FLLL (talk) 18:07, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is going to be singificantly more of a problem...You see, Romania made these two submarines, Rechinul and Marsuinul. Admin help needed

Hi, may I ask you again - some recent expansions need to become active. It can be done only by an admin.
Please replace the code of the following protected templates by the code of their sandboxes:

Notification about possible deletion

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

PNG filter thoughts

On Special:AbuseFilter/162, the current filter

& file_size > 3145728 /* omit reasonably sized bitmaps, ie. smaller than 3 MiB */
& file_size > int(1.01 * 4 * 2 * file_width * file_height)

has 95 matches on the current databases. I suggest for consideration

& file_size > 3145728 + int(1.01 * 4 * file_bits_per_channel / 8 * file_width * file_height)

which has only 15 matches on the database. Most of the reduction due to the arbitrary fixed offset. Keep in mind the filters can't take animations (e.g. File:Sts-126-fd15-flyaround.png) or the Fireworks files (most used as crude PNG converter). I would probably add & user_age < 7 * 24 * 3600 /* a week */. Dispenser (talk) 16:35, 18 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jdx, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.

Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:

  1. You edited MediaWiki:Gadget-GallerySlideshow.js. Thank you for caring about Wikimedia Commons's javascript pages.
  2. Though, that change appears to introduce 8 new jshint issues — the page's status is now having warnings.
  3. To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine.

@MaGa: {{Done}} and {{Not done}} are "harder" cases because actually they do not use {{LangSwitch}}, but localized messages from MediaWiki namespace. These messages may be created locally (on Commons) or may be provided by MediaWiki software. In the latter case they should be translated using https://translatewiki.net. The first method is quick and easy, but the second is more proper/elegant. Anyway, I will deal with your requests later, I didn't forget about them. --jdx Re: 10:27, 2 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@MichaelMaggs: In order to mark a (translatable) page for translation you have to be translation admin. Anyway, when you want to add a new translation unit to a page, please add its content enclosed in "translate" tags but without its number. Then a translation admin marks the page for translation and the system (i.e. MediaWiki's Translate Extension) automatically assigns a number to the new translation unit. --jdx Re: 19:13, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 20:42, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder: Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2016 is open!

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2016 Picture of the Year contest.

Dear Jdx,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.

This file (detected as 'unknown MIME' by the bot) doesn't appear to have an embedded archive..... I downloaded it, and actually tried extracting it with several tools, and none worked. I think it's a false positive. - Reventtalk 20:17, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Revent: Go to http://www.bikinginmorocco.com/tours/7-day-cycling-tour-from-marrakech-to-atlantic-coast/ and compare the photo sizes from that page and ours. "The original" has ~82,2 KiB which equals the offset reported by the bot. Besides, ~6.5 MiB for a 1000×700 photo is simply way too much. So there must be something attached to the photo. Also this user already uploaded a file with embedded data in January. If it's not enough, almost for sure this file is a copyvio. --jdx Re: 20:52, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough... I wasn't actually going to undelete it (or even specifically asking you to) I was just doublechecking the bot on those 'unknown file'. I'll see if I can figure out what it is... - Reventtalk 20:59, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Translation

Hi, Please marked this page & it's subpage for translation (like you did last year here). Thank you. --Aftabuzzaman (talk) 18:53, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Aftabuzzaman: Done. I hope that everything is fine. --jdx Re: 21:46, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. There is one problem. Remove Page display title from translating, because of that Commons:Wiki_Loves_Earth_2017_in_Bangladesh/bn gives "Warning: Display title...... " --Aftabuzzaman (talk) 22:14, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And please mark this page also. --Aftabuzzaman (talk) 22:16, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done Also I have fixed template {{WLEBD2017 links}}. --jdx Re: 09:09, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

impersonator sockpuppeteer

Hi Jan. FYI - we have a VOA sockmaster active on Commons and Meta who, amongst other nonsense, copies the userpages of admins and stewards to his own userpage. He honored you with his latest sock: Azertytaezerrtzty [4]. I've found several socks over the last week or so while patrolling new userpages for spam and whatnot. It looks like he just targets admins randomly, but you never know. Daphne Lantier 03:04, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Daphne Lantier: Hehe, that's nice of him that he honoured me. Anyway, a few days ago I spotted Talking Younes (and Wahed123, most likely its sock puppet) who had similar modus operandi. But s/he was also involved in WP0 abusing. --jdx Re: 03:49, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yesterday I got another sock locked that was active here and on Meta: Clach baby. This one also put up your page [5] but used the page of a steward from Finland on Meta. Daphne Lantier 03:58, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
