Thank You that you added me to confirmed users, so after that I really succeeded to upload my first work. The quality of Nokia Lumia 630 was so-so and after converting into WebM format on www.online-convert.com it became as water paintings at all, but in future I will have good experience how to work on Wikimedia Commons Upload Wizard. --PoetVeches (talk) 17:19, 22 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A little bit later, there also video clip (the same video, but much more longer version, about 300 MB) was uploaded there, that i had been trying to upload over video2commons converter into the same WebM format, but this has a little bit better quality, in all, this is very interesting experience for me. Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2017 is open!

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2017 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in R2.

Dear Jdx,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2017 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the twelfth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2017) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top 2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2017.

Round 2 will end on 22 July 2018, 23:59 UTC.

Translation verification

Hi Jdx, again I need professional help because I do not know anything about the Polish language. There exists a category SVG coat of arms elements - escutcheon shapes, containing currently two subcategories as you can see; one is SVG coat of arms elements - ejemplos españoles, and the other one with a lot of Polish work is just called SVG coat of arms elements - escutcheon shapes 2 which is telling nothing. I am thinking to change it to a more specific name, e.g. SVG coat of arms elements - polskie tarcze herbów; but before I do that I ask you whether that is 1) correct due to Polish grammar, and 2) a good describing name. May be you have a better idea?. To the other name "ejemplos españoles" someting like 'Polish examples' would fit better. Give your feedback about changes to Special:Block

Hello,

You are receiving this message because you are a top user of Special:Block on this wiki. Thank you for the important work that you do. There is a discussion happening about plans to improve Special:Block with the ability to set new types of blocks. To get the best design and new functions added, it is essential that people who use the tool join the discussion and share their opinions about these changes.

Instead of a full site wide block, you would be able to set a Partial Block. A user could be blocked from a single page, multiple pages, one or more namespaces, from uploading files, etc. There are several different ways to add this feature to Special:Block. Right now Important decisions are being made about the design and function.

New user having audio upload problems, directed here to see if its just a matter of expanding restrictions?

Hello, if I remember the section (it stuck in my head because I didn't understand what he said at first), you removed the comments here which said : The Netherland are missing on the map. Hi. Every time I try to edit from my account this message appears:

Is there anything that can be done to solve this? I've already had problems with global locks from Meta in the same ip range, but those autoblocks expire in one hour. My current IP address and all that I use are in that same range. @Helmy oved: This range is used by a very prolific vandal. If you look at contributions from this range for the last 6 months, virtually all are vandalisms. More, the range was globally blocked on Meta many, many times, the latest block will expire on 3rd January. AFAIR on enwiki the range is blocked untill mid-April. Bielsk Podlaski station

This clearly looks like the same station. As far as i can reconstruct from the other slides (some are of people from my group, so I have to respect portrait rigths), the day was spent travelling from are camping place in the Białowieża forest, (problably close to the Białowieża Grundki train station) to the starting point for the kanoe trip on the Bug river. Starting point of kano trip

I have uploaded more images in Category:Smiley Toerist 1991 Poland trip. I can reconstruct that we left Bielsk Podlaski busstation to take a local bus somewhere along the river. Do you know the buslines in 1991 (the busplatform where the tourist are waiting is maybe a clue) or recognize the river images? @Smiley.toerist: Unfortunately, I don't remember bus lines to the south from that time. And I don't think that there has ever been a direct line from Bielsk to a place like Mielnik or Drohiczyn. I guess that from Bielsk you went to Siemiatycze and then took another bus, perhaps to Mielnik (although other places are possible). @Smiley.toerist: The place with two churches is Drohiczyn that I mentioned before. The church in the middle is Drohiczyn Cathedral and the church on the left is All Saints church. The building in front of the cathedral is the registrar's office of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Drohiczyn. Here is the map. New Request for talk page protection

Hello there. If it is possible, can you please upgrade my user rights to extended-confirmed, and then apply Extended-Protection to my talk page for 1 year? (Similar to the type of page protection at the Donald Trump article). The ROXELANA22 LTA has returned after the expiration of his Global IP rangeblock, and he's making a mess on my talk page again. Other forms of page protection appear to be ineffective. If this isn't possible, then only blocks + Global locks will be effective against this LTA. Thank you. Category:Railway line 542 (Poland)

@Smiley.toerist: OK, but what is your question? It seems that line 542 still exists and is in use. This line is łącznica, that is a short line which connects two other lines, 14 and 131 in this case. Till 2008 it was 7 km long, now it is about 3,5 km. --jdx Re: 18:30, 16 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am talking of the historic railway line between Ostroleka, Ostrow Mazowiecka, Malkinia, Treblinka en Siedlce. On Google Earth the section between Ostroleka and Malkinia still extist, however the bridge over the Bug river has been replaced by a road and the railway between Malkinia and Kostki has been replaced biy a road and/or broken up. I am using the nummering used in a railway map in 1993. In some countries railway lines are frequently renumbered and reordered, as lines are broken up and lines and connections created. And dont know want the Commons policy is on the nummering of Polish railway lines. Or are only the railway lines in use categorized? It can get confusing when artikels are written over historic lines where sections are broken up. Is there an accepted where the numbers are used? Look at Category:Railway lines in Belgium: A 1932 map is used as reference for the Commons and the Dutch and French articles over railway lines.Smiley.toerist (talk) 20:41, 16 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Smiley.toerist: This is line 34. The section between Ostrołęka and Małkinia is still called line 34. The section between Małkinia and Sokołów Podlaski was disassembled in the first decade of the current century (the embankment near the bridge over Bug, i.e. between Małkinia and Kosów Lacki has been used for road 627). The section between Sokołów Podlaski and Siedlce in 2004 was renamed to line 55. BTW. Which Kostki are you talking about? The last uploads

I uploaded the last files for the Category:Smiley Toerist 1991 Poland trip. (there are other pictures, but they are more group pictures and out of scope) Wich streets and squares in Warsaw I dont know. In the latter part of the river I used the Category:1991 in Masovian Voivodeship. Before that it is the border between two Voivodeships. I also uploaded Polish tram and rail pictures from 2011 (Category:2011 in tram transport in Poland and some pictures of 2014. I introduced many tram lines routes categories in Category:Tram lines in Upper Silesia. However I did not put the tram types in the rigth categories (Category:Rolling stock of Upper Silesian urban area tram. That is the same user I had issues with on the Turkmen images. I noticed he hit images from Argentina as well but, I am not as versed (yet) on how accurate the images are. I think the issue I am running into is instead of the user letting us know what needs to be fixed where, he reverts and says "Oh, this is this way, so reverting" and without looking at history or seeing the context. Even if we make the changes as he asks us to, it gets changed again for some unknown or random reason (like moving the goalposts, if I can use an Americanism). Translating translation template

I saw you fixed translation of the {{Policy}} template at the top of Commons:De minimis by putting it into {{TNT}}. That worked, in the sense of getting a translation of {{Policy}} on the non-English pages, but it turns out that {{Policy}} should not be used on non-English pages. {{Translated policy}} should be used instead. I put in a bit of logic to use {{Policy}} if the page language is English and {{Translated policy}} otherwise, but it will not display in anything but English. Can you see what I am doing wrong?   • фотографії пам'яток, які на момент початку конкурсу не мали жодної ілюстрації на Вікісховищі або у Вікіпедії, отримують коефіцієнт 10 в кількісній номінації. Якщо ви маєте фото ще не проілюстрованих пам'яток — це збільшить ваші шанси на перемогу;
  • окрема спецномінація для аерофотозйомки (фото з дронів тощо).

@Jeff G.: I have just reverted to the version from 10 July 2017 using popups. This issue (?) is related to structured data, or, more precisely, to file captions. When one creates a caption, not only the actual caption (text) is created, but also some additional, invisible, data. Then, when one removes the caption using the thrash can icon, only the text (caption) is removed, but not the additional data. Undo/revert removes all.
