Undeletion request[edit]

I wanted to add an additional note regarding my decision here and how to proceed. I understand that you are in contact with the flickr user and that they have updated their profile but to eliminate all doubt if you could get them to put All images on this profile are released into the public domain and I grant anyone the right to use them for any purpose, without any conditions, unless such conditions are required by law.

If they put that there I will undelete the images right away. The problem with the PDM mark is that, officially, it is not a legal instrument. It has no legal text whatsoever. It is just a mark for images that are in the public domain for another reason. That is why {{CC0}} exists. CC0 actually has legal wording behind it that the PDM lacks. It is this wording that matters since there are countries that actually do not allow people to just say something is in the "public domain". The wording above would allow you to then use {{PD-author}} as the specific phrase is there.

I know that this is a pain in the ass and I partly agree with you that forcing people to jump through hoops isn't ideal. It is just our hands are tied and have been ever since Flickr allowed the PDM to be used on uploaded photos without actually explaining what the PDM is for and what it cannot do. I really am sorry to force you to do this and I hope it can be worked out. Let me know the moment anything changes. --Majora (talk) 14:10, 2 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too.
