Aachener Katze

Hallo Euku,

:) --Euku: 11:31, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Euku!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Hallo Euku,

Namen umzustellen? --Leyo 09:02, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

VG -- πϵρήλιο 16:09, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Danke. -- RE rillke questions? 14:31, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question regarding SpBot

Hello Euku. I've seen SpBot takes care of de:Wikipedia:Vandalismusmeldung by putting in the page if the user has been blocked or the page protected. I was thinking in proposing something like that for our COM:AN/V vandalism noticeboard. But before doing it I'd like to know if a) you'd be interested in that and b) is it possible to implement here. Best regards, --Marco Aurelio (disputatio) 15:07, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Marco, yes, it is possible, but I don't have the time to implement this on commons. If you like I can send you the source code. --Euku: 17:53, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Euku. Thanks for the answer. If you really don't mind giving me a copy of the source code I can try running it here. Do you need my email for that? Best regards, --Marco Aurelio (disputatio) 19:03, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, this makes things easier. :) --Euku: 20:25, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's the problem. It does not happen on de:WP, de:wikisource etc., but only on commons and wikidata (something related to the familiy). I start one bot per project (with cron) using:
jsub -once -N archive-erl-commons -mem 156m -cwd python archiv-erl-bot.py -project:commons
My bot is already using the git version. The error log file says:
Fatal Python error: Couldn't create autoTLSkey mapping
Sorry, I don't get the meaning of the last diff. Mine pywikibot/family.py says at WikimediaFamily -> version(): return '1.22wmf20' (I didn't change anything there). … Thank you for the help. :) --Euku: 17:45, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I've found the trouble reporter http://hg.python.org/cpython/file/tip/Python/pystate.c#l690, but can't see what caused the trouble. Btw, can I temporally take over the bot (until the issue is fixed)? --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 02:29, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

SpBot archiving for Japanese Wikipedia

Is it possible to let SpBot work (for archiving discussions) on Japanese Wikipedia? I can help you with localization (if needed) and the bot flag request. whym (talk) 00:07, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Whym, yes, we can run it on the jp:WP too. It already has a flag, but it was for interwiki links. I think that I am allowed to start, as this script is running since 2007 in other wikis.
The main problem will be that I don't understand anything in Japanese. So, I need you to translate all the stuff behind Template:Autoarchive_resolved_section, i.e. you should discuss or decide the main template names, parameter etc.
Also, please translate these fragments. --Euku: 20:22, 23 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for giving your help. A couple of points: 1) Here is my translation. I don't think the template name and parameters need translation - ja.wikipedia users usually accept English for these reserved words. 2) Just to make sure, does your bot parse Japanese dates (which looks like "YYYY年MM月DD日 HH:MM:SS") properly, as mw:Manual:Pywikibot/archivebot.py (now) does? 3) I think it's better to file a new bot approval request, since interwiki and archiving are significantly different tasks, and because the community is not used to automatic archiving except for my relatively new bot. Requesting approval for each task is not explicitly required on ja.wikipedia, but I believe it's a good practice. 03:20, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, parsing dates is a good point. Is 年, 月 and 日 always fix? Do the symbols change? I think 火 is the weekday? So, it doesn't matter for me. I expect UTC to be the default timezone.
I made a request. --Euku: 09:06, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again. You got it right as for parsing the Japanese date. 年, 月 and 日 are fixed, and (火) indicates the weekday which can be skipped (note that you should skip only one character in Unicode otherwise it may overrun [2]), and on Japanese Wikipedia it's always UTC. The month can be in 1 or 2 digits, whereas the hour and minute must always be 2 digits (prepending 0 for 1-9). I will finish translating the template documentation. --whym (talk) 09:30, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
May I ask you to create ja:Template:Section resolved for Japanese Wikipedia from Template:Section resolved? This template looks compilcated to me, so I'm (still) not confident to do that. All the translations should be in the template's LangSwitch. I have done with others - ja:Template:Section resolved/doc, ja:Template:Autoarchive resolved section and ja:Template:Autoarchive resolved section/doc. Thank you for your help. whym (talk) 14:00, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I created Template:Section resolved/standard module. Can you take a look on the categories? This is the background of /standard module. You may want to translate this section too... --Euku: 23:00, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot! I will add the relevant categories and portion to the Japanese docs. I think we are ready more or less. Did you already schedule the bot for Japanese Wikipedia? I might want to give a test run or two. whym (talk) 15:50, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, there are still some changes to be made. For regular runs I would like to schedule it at 19:xx UTC (4:xx am JST). --Euku: 16:49, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
All right, please let me know if you are ready. whym (talk) 00:41, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't see that earlier: does is make sense to have two forms of ((month:long)) and ((month:short)) in Japanese? For me it seem to be always the same. --Euku:
Looks perfect, thank a lot! I'm sure there is no long/short distinction of month names in Japanese. The strings generated by any of the two is correct (but the same) month name. I think you could just leave it, since it causes no harm. whym (talk) 00:24, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I placed the template at ja:MediaWiki‐ノート:Common.css about a week ago. The bot can archive the marked sections, I suppose? Please let me know if I did something wrong. whym (talk) 09:23, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You did nothing wrong, it was a bug that is solved now. --Euku: 09:39, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing it quickly. :) whym (talk) 09:49, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Two more requests: both are minor requests, so there is no rush. :) 1) Could you please update this parameter self.archiveSumOriginMulti = u"%d件を%sに過去ログ化"? It is an update to add "件" to classify the number, and to save the length by removing extra spaces. 2) Could you please use Talkarchive instead of Archives as the archive header? There is a slight incompatibility as you can see in the red link on top of ja:MediaWiki‐ノート:Common.css/過去ログ/2011年.whym (talk) 13:07, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Both changes done. Thanks for help! --Euku: 20:11, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

2 questions

 1. SpBot (talk · contribs) is not running since thursday. Can you fix it?
 2. Can you run SpBot on Korean Wikipedia, like Japanese Wikipedia above? Thanks. Revicomplaint? 03:54, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Hym, thanks it runs again.
ad 2: Yes, but I need the same help as on ja:WP. 1. So, I need a translation of this. 2. Can you please copy, translate the templates and parameters (if needed). 3. Does the timestamps work the same as in ja:WP? 4. I made a request for a bot flag. --Euku: 13:14, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Korean Wikipedia uses YYYY년 MM월 DD일 (<local name of weekdays>) HH:MM (KST). And KST=UTC+9. And here's translation. I'll create related templates soon. (Korean does not use plural.) Revicomplaint? 14:10, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Can you help me with Section resolved template? I am not sure where to add standard module. Revicomplaint? 14:24, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The problem seems to be solved in the meantime. It works.
As far as I see, (like in Japanese), you don't have names for months and just count them. So, there is no distinction between a long and short form, right?
What about these parameters? Do you want to translate them? --Euku: 21:19, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Comparing ko:틀:완료된 토론 and my user talk page, I cannot see my signature. Is there any problem with div settings?
Yes, there is no name for months, so no need to long and short.
I will translate it and tell you. Revicomplaint? 03:42, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, right, this was missing. --Euku: 20:18, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Here's the translation for you. Revicomplaint? 14:26, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, this is the full list. It seems to work:

Bot run for ko:사용자토론:Hym411 at 2014-03-25 um 23:20

 • Archiving starts after 2.0 days
 • On headline level 2
 • Number of sections: 2
 • Number of sections to archive: 1
lfd. Nr. Headline Age of oldest signature Num. of signatures Age of 'resolved' Target

I scheduled it nightly at 19:06 (UTC). So as long as it runs without a bot flag, you will get a notification. --Euku: 23:25, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is there an equivalent to Template:Talkarchive? --Euku: 23:27, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's OK to get notification. And, Template:Talkarchive's Korean version is ko:틀:보존. Revicomplaint? 03:29, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ArchiveBot

Hi, I noticed you have set up User:MiszaBot to archive your talk page. Unfortunately, the bot has stopped working, and given how its operator is inactive, it is unclear when/if this will fixed. For the time being, I have volunteered to operate a MiszaBot clone (running the exact same code). With that said, your input would be appreciated at Commons:Bots/Requests/ArchiveBot 1. SpBot

Hy Euku, is there any way (that does not cause any problems to you) your bot could also archive sections not tagged with Section resolved on my user talkpage?    FDMS  4    18:14, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker)I guess not. You should use MiszaBot (talk · contribs). Revicomplaint? 04:46, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
But MiszaBot cannot archive to quarter archives ...    FDMS  4    17:16, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If I step in into the "normal" archiving, I know that in this case the German Wikipedia wants me to support the template of the other bot(s)... But, I like the simple idea of adding a new parameter "TIMEOUT" or "AUTO RESOLVED", that matches after x days if you don't set a template:resolved section. This makes it possible to use it in old-style (with section resolved) and in the same way as de:Vorlage:Autoarchiv and MiszaBot works. On the other hand, this is a little bit mixed. I have to think about the concept.... --Euku: 21:37, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think that sounds great!    FDMS  4    22:55, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

--Euku: 16:35, 5 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Euku, I hope you are well. A few pages that are archived by SpBot imply that it will also archive sections marked as Stale, e.g. the comment <!-- mark request with when finished or when inactive for at least two month to trigger automatic archiving --> on Commons:Graphic_Lab/Map_workshop. I can't find that in the documentation, and the bot doesn't seem to be doing that - could you clarify? Thanks, Storkk (talk) 10:33, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Storkk! You are right, it doesn't work with Stale, because it is not intended to work. I don't want to add an additional template for Section resolved, because it is not needed. You can either use section resolved instead of stale or set timeout=60 to Autoarchive resolved section. In any case you should change the comment. :) --Euku: 11:36, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

SpBot "previous edit:" edit summary

Hi Euku... I hope you are well. Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the "previous edit" portion of SpBot's archiving summaries (e.g. Special:Diff/176298855/176311320)? I had assumed that would be the previous edit to the section being archived (which would otherwise be non-trivial to piece together), but it looks like it's the previous edit to the page, which seems like it would be easy to just look at the page history for. Cheers, Storkk (talk) 09:42, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Storkk, if you deselect the checkbox to expand your watchlist the bot may hide previous edits (comments, vandalism, ...). This feature was requested on the German Wikipedia (and is also implemented by de:Spezial:Beiträge/TaxonBot), so I also added that for Commons too. --Euku: 10:09, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I guess that makes sense. Thanks, Euku! Storkk (talk) 11:34, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sections missing?

Hi Euku... something appears to have gone wrong: can you tell where these edits went? They don't appear in the archive, and SpBot hasn't edited the archive since 9 November. Storkk (talk) 12:55, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Storkk! I've found these lines in the log file:
ERROR: editpage: abusefilter-warning-otrs

Thanks, Euku. It is mildly amusing that one of the comments that wasn't archived was specifically discussing that abuse filter rule, but oh well. Cheers, Storkk (talk) 15:22, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

— Speravir_Talk – 18:19, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo!
— Speravir_Talk – 20:54, 18 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I am currently using your SpBot to let my user talk archived. I am also curious if your bot can be operated in id.wikipedia to do so, mainly to archive village pump discussion posts, and other pages, e.g. user talk. If it is possible, I'd love to talk to the community to see if they are also interested. This will also be a time saver for several users in that wiki that are currently have task to archive the posts once in a month. Please let me know your thought. Thank you. ··· 🌸 Rachmat04 · 09:16, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
