Help - sanity check, please - MY FIRST USE OF COMMONS DELINKER.

The edit I'm planning to do that would be MY FIRST USE OF COMMONS DELINKER is described here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons_talk:Abuse_filter#Report_by_Elvey and I'd like someone to sanity check that the edit is appropriate in that the renaming I'm trying to do is 1)appropriate, and 2) something that the edit I'm trying to do with cause CommonsDelinker to do. Why am i being forced to use this?

Before today, I was able to make the appropriate changes to other languages pages myself using the move script..why has it been changed to instruct the bot to do the changes now?--Stemoc (talk) 12:13, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Armoiries de Bischwiller

See discussion on fr:Projet:Blasons/Demande de blason. Virgin Mary should have arms extended for Bischwiller ("vierge orante", which means that she should be "praying", traditional representation being with arms extended), which is not the case in the widely used "Blason de Bischwiller" and has been corrected on the "Armoiries de Bischwiller" version. The file Blason de Bischwiller.svg may be kept but will have to be renamed afterwards. The correct version should be propagated to the other wikis. Michelet (talk) 09:02, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

substitutions allowed?

Is it appropriate to request the bot to perform substitutions where a file hasn't actually been renamed, but a new and superior file is uploaded of the same image?

Specifically, I'd ask it to replace File:Maria Amalia of Habsburg Lorraine.gif with File:Maria Amalia of Austria 1762 by Liotard.jpg.

I realize it would be inappropriate to use the bot to substitute images just because I like another one better, but I regularly upload higher resolution versions of existing images when they become available (e.g., from museum websites as they develop or improve their online images) and sometimes there are a lot of pages that point to the old file, and marking them as superseded doesn't seem to get people's attention. I guess what I would like to have is a "superseded bot." Does one exist, would it contravene current policy, etc.?

In a slightly more complicated scenario, it turns out that File:Karl Joseph of Habsburg Lorraine.gif is incorrectly named (wrong sitter). I have just uploaded a better image of the portrait (correctly identified) from the museum website. I am a filemover and will fix the old file name, but the real trouble is that all of the pages that use the image are, naturally, pages about Karl Joseph (the wrong sitter). These will need to substitute a different file altogether. Is it appropriate to request the bot to make those changes?

Hello, almost all current requests at Manual replacements are not actually non-SVG to SVG replacements, but standard file-renaming requests. Could someone with editing permissions from time to time move such requests to Requests relating to renamed files, where they belong (or just execute the commands directly)? Thank you!
