National_Woman's_Party_logo.png should be PD-textlogo

Hi! I am almost sure the National Woman's Party logo.png is in the Public Domain, and I am searching for some advice before marking the page with PD-textlogo and moving it to commons. Would that be ok? If not, could I create a similar file with plain colour rectangles and mark that as PD)

Botanfrage: Nulledit/Touch für ca. 27600 Seiten

Tach, kann Dein Bot per API oder sonstwie über 27600 Seiten touchen (Purgen reicht nicht). Ich, der ich das API-System irgendwie nicht kapiere (wahrscheinlich bräuchte ich mal eine Art Vorlage, nach der ich dann immer vorgehen könnte), müsste jeweils Nulledits durchführen; nur bei der Menge würde das ja Ewigkeiten dauern. Hintergrund ist das hier: Commons:Help desk#min.wikipedia language. Ich hab für diverse Vorlagen Nulledits durchgeführt, was in relativ wenigen Fällen auch was gebracht hat, aber viel zu viele Seiten zeigen noch immer die Nutzung von {{Min}} an; es sollten aber in Wirklichkeit nur knapp 200 sein, die die Vorlage (bisher irrtümlich) wirklich einsetzen. “Red” link on Commons:Picture of the Year/2019/Share

Hi! The “more” link on Commons:Picture of the Year/2019/Share points to https://tools.wmflabs.org/steinsplitter/poty2019/share-links.php, which is 404. The URL contains your user name, so I think it should be your tool. Is it normal that it does not work yet? (POTY2019 begin and end date is TBD as of now, so I can imagine that.) Thanks for repairing the link! However, the now working page still lists Google+, which was closed today exactly 10 months ago. Could you please remove it? The other thing that’s really missing from the page is responsiveness: actually it looks good on narrow screens, but it doesn’t let browsers know about this—a <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"> in the HTML header would help mobile browsers to display the page with a readable font size. Thanks for fixing! However, I don’t know what committee you’re speaking about, and you provided no links. Could you explain it a bit? Otherwise I certainly won’t join it. ;) (And I just noticed that many links on the page are insecure HTTP links, while all of these services are HTTPS-enabled. And Firefox’s source code viewer highlights some HTML errors with red. Understood, thank you -- However, it seems to me that all UnDRs should be archived whether they contain a blacklisted name or not -- after all, a reason for not restoring a file can well be that its source was a blacklisted site which will be named.

Das ist nur ein sehr kleines Bild (Auflösung) und wichtige EXIF Dateien sind nicht vorhanden. Es muss hier vorsorglich nach COM:PCP eine Freigabe gesendert werden da die Autorschaft nicht erwisen ist. Sicher kann man es in nen LA umwandeln und disktieren in wie weit das wahrscheinlich ist, ... Der Urheber soll ne Freigabe senden (wenn er die nötigen Rechte hat) und die Sache ist für ein und allemal erledigt. --Steinsplitter (talk) 12:50, 2 March 2020 (UTC)

Datei DEU Emmingen-Liptingen COA.svg

Hallo Steinsplitter, wir haben uns vor geraumer Zeit darauf geeinigt, dass wir die offiziell verwendeten deutschen Wappen mit DEU Ortsname COA.svg oder png, etc. benennen wollen. Nun hat der User Chris die Seele jede Menge Wappen hochgeladen, welche von den Gemeinden gar nicht verwendet werden. Einige davon konnten ich mit Wappen_Ortsname.svg umbenennen, leider wird dadurch DEU Ortsname COA.svg nicht automatisch wieder verwendbar. Was kann ich da tun oder wie kannst du helfen? Simplen Fehler in mindestens 12000 Dateibeschreibungen reparieren

Hallo Steinsplitter. Wär das was für Deinen Bot oder sonst per Skript zu erledigen?

Sieh mal kurz auf User talk:Htsa#Errors. Das Problem ist, dass die vom (institutionellen) User hochgeladenen Dateien allesamt in ihrer Beschreibung denselben systematischen Fehler besitzen (bis vielleicht auf einige, wo er von Hand repariert wurde), es fehlen zwei Zeilenumbrüche vor und nach dem Titel für die Lizenz, in den angesehenen Dateien sieht es so aus:

Das wäre (für mich) mit dem VFC leicht zu reparieren, wenn in der Kat. Uploaded by Htsa nicht so viele Dateien wären (man kann als einfacher User nur 100 Dateien auf einmal abrufen und dann zwar von Hand schrittweise die Menge erhöhen, aber das überfordert irgendwann meinen Rechner). Die Suche ergibt Stand jetzt 12968 Treffer bei 13002 Dateien insgesamt ( Link zur Suche).

Wenn Du es auch nicht reparieren kannst, hast Du dann aber eventuell eine Idee, wen man deswegen fragen könnte? — Speravir – 01:09, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Wir sind jetzt hier auf des Steinsplitters Seite, viel wichtiger wäre, den HTSA-User darauf hinzuweisen: Dieser Hinweis, dass die Änderung auf einen Hinweis von „G. Brooks“ zurückzuführen ist, ergibt nur Sinn mit Verlinkung auf diesen Hinweis. Eine allgemeinere Form wäre wohl notwendig, ich bin aber selbst noch unschlüssig. Dass auf den senkrechten Strich verzichtet werden sollte oder er nur in kodierter Form einzugeben wäre, müsste der User auch wisen, damit er den Fehler nicht noch einmal macht.
Direkt zum Fehler: Man findet all diese Dateien in Pages using Photograph template with incorrect parameter. Ob dort derzeit nur Dateien vom HTSA enthalten sind und das dann derselbe Fehler ist, habe ich nicht kontrolliert. — Speravir – 19:51, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

@Speravir: Ja, ich stimme zu, dass wir Htsa helfen sollen und wollen. Aber wer als Quelle "The History Trust of South Australian, South Australian Government" angibt, wird sich schwer tun, die Feinheiten des für Mass Uploads erforderlichen Feingefühls zu erwerben, so dass Steinsplitters Korrektur dankenswerter Weise schneller zum Ziel geführt hat als es eine Belehrung getan hätte. Meines Erachtens liegt die Hauptherausforderung jetzt darin, von Htsa eine Freigabe unter {{PD-Australia}} und {{{PD-US-1996}} zu erwirken, wie sie auf seiner Diskussionsseite schon angedacht wird. Image that should not be flipped

Rotierung ist schief gegangen

Bei dem File:Logo M. Glückstadt & Münden, Hamburg.jpg ist das Rotieren missglückt (Siehe Dateiversionen). Aus 90 × 95 wird nicht ein 95 × 90 Bild, sondern es wurde auch noch beschnitten. Warum das? Da fehlt ja jetzt ein Teil vom Logo. -- sk (talk) 10:40, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Category redirect loops

Is it possible to modify your bot so that it will not redirect an existing category to a title that is already a category redirect? See, e.g., Commons:History merging and splitting/Requests#Category:Canada–United States border → Category:Canada-United States border and Commons:History merging and splitting/Requests#Category:MASS MoCA → Category:Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. --R'n'B (talk) 20:09, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

@R'n'B: That would be possible, but i am not sure if it is okay for the community. The bot worked in that way now for years and nobody complained (except you). It is generally up to the users to delete the target category/to prepare the category's so that the bot can simply move the category. Please read the note at User_talk:CommonsDelinker/commands#Category_moves. Feel free to propose it at the COM:CDC talkpage, i will apply the suggestion if there is no oppose. I have no problem with the way the bot is working except that when the category is being swapped like this, I would rather see the page being moved so the contribution history is preserved. The change in dashes was as a result of a discussion that has been closed after six years. I agree that a change in the way the bot works would need discussion COM:CDC. Date-stamped version of OTRS pending

Hello, here you have added a date-stamped version of OTRS pending template which effectively turns a notification template into a deletion template. The template than says that "the image can be speedy deleted 15 days after this template was added and the uploader was notified". However, I was NOT notified. @Vojtěch Dostál: It adds the timestamp to avoid caching errors. Looks like there is a problem with the template itself, it should not tag the file for deletion... Das fand ich dann aber irgendwie zu plump also habe ich versucht mich am bisherigen Stil zu orientieren. Das ist ja so gemacht, dass auf der Seite das Template (Template:Administrators'_noticeboard) eingebunden ist. In diesem ist ein autotranslate-befehl, der die Seite Template:Administrators'_noticeboard_lead_translations/Blocks_and_protections in der dem Benutzer entsprechenden Sprachversion zur Verfügung stellt. Diese Autoübersetzung funktioniert über die Unterseiten, z.B. Template:Administrators'_noticeboard_lead_translations/Blocks_and_protections/de für Deutsch. Der schlaue Keks dachte sich jetzt nun "Dann klatsche ich eben die englische Version auf die Seite Template:Administrators'_noticeboard_lead_translations/Blocks_and_protections/processing_notes und die deutsche Version auf Template:Administrators'_noticeboard_lead_translations/Blocks_and_protections/processing_notes/de". Bei der englischen Version schien das ganz gut zu gehen, bei der Deutschen habe ich die grundsätzliche Struktur von https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template:Administrators%27_noticeboard_lead_translations/Blocks_and_protections/de&action=raw kopiert. Leider wird dieser Übersetzungsbalken jetzt nicht angezeigt und da steht "Diese Seite enthält Bearbeitungen, die nicht zum Übersetzen freigegeben sind". Ich möchte dich jetzt nicht bitten das für mich zu reparieren sondern bitte eher um Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe, damit ich das beim nächsten Mal auch ohne dich hinbekomme. Kannst du mir sagen, was ich falsch gemacht habe und wie ich das wieder gerade biege?

Ziel der Forschung ist es Mitmachmöglichkeiten und Zugangswege für neue Ehrenamtliche in den Wikimedia-Projekten zu identifizieren. Dazu möchten wir von den Erfahrungen der bereits aktiven Community-Mitglieder lernen und Erfolgsfaktoren für die Beteiligung in den Projekten herausfinden. Die Teilnahme umfasst das Ausfüllen einer Vorab-Umfrage, eine Selbststudie und ein Interview.

Bot flag for CommonsDelinker in Japanese Wikipedia

Hi Steinsplitter. In Japanese Wikipedia we recently changed the WP:SOCK policy so it now allows a bot with multiple operators. Since CommonsDelinker has been operating in jawiki for long time with no big issues, would you consider requesting a bot flag in w:ja:Wikipedia:Bot/使用申請? @ネイ: I don’t recommend giving bot flag to CommonsDelinker. Bot flag is for bots that need no human supervision. CommonsDelinker is not such—when it removes an image, it often needs to be replaced with another one (if possible), so having these edits in recent changes and watchlists is a good thing IMO. It doesn’t need a bot flag because of its edit rate, either—15 edits in the past 24 hours is way below the one edit per minute required for non-flagged bots. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 15:31, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

I do not understand why this is objected when the flag is granted on so many projects (see Special:CentralAuth/CommonsDelinker) - if your reason stands, it would not have been granted in that many projects in the first place. Also, the bot conducted 6 edits per minute, just 10 minutes after your comment (this happens frequently, not one off). So your statement regarding edit rate is inaccurate. ネイ (talk) 16:12, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

@ネイ: The fact that it has bot flag on many wikis may mean two things: either the point I raised was discussed and they gave the bot flag regardless, or it was not considered at all. The latter seems more likely.

The rules on ja:Wikipedia:Bot/使用申請 require rate limit of one edit per minute for tasks that include 200 or more pages, and I’m sure this is for a reason—a few edits, even if they happen in a fast succession, don’t flood RC/watchlist, they’re simply not enough to cause a flood. The bot had 34 edits in since 15:31 yesterday, so it clearly haven’t passed the limit.

By the way, this is my personal opinion, so I only ask you to consider it, feel free to give the bot flag if you still think its edits are better hidden. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 17:44, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

Steinsplitter, Bot flag was set on my bot account years ago, however it seems like individual edits are not correctly flagged as bot edits by the QuickStatements Tool. The issue was discussed in phabricator:T247433 and phabricator:T246746 tickets, and User:Magnus Manske who wrote the tool participated in some of the discussions. Griaßdi Steinsplitter, ich habe versucht die Übersetzung etwas zu glätten. Da ich nicht übersetzungsberechtigt bin, muss das jemand Authorisierter reviewen und absegnen.
Ausserdem habe ich die Vorlage erweitert, um einen dritten Textteil der sehr einfach zu übersetzen ist. Wenn das jemand translatiert, kann ich es in einigen Sprachen (de, en, fr) kontrollieren. Ich hoffe dass die Logik der Parameterauswertung so gut funktioniert wie bei meinen Tests.

Rotation in low res?

Redirect

I recently requested to move all files from Category:Służew in the 2020s to Category:2020 in Służew by requesting a redirect. But I actually want to keep the first category - it should the contain the second category. However, the roborts keep inserting the redirect. Can you prevent them from doing it. Hallo Steinsplitter, das template Protected ist mir nicht zugänglich. Das kann ich zwar nicht ganz verstehen (protections itself sind natürlich Adminsache, aber warum ein template editor auch nicht an lediglich die Mitteilung darüber rankann bleibt mir ein Rätsel), aber wie auch immer: wenn diese Vorlage direkt in der Ursprungsvorlage selbst statt in ihrer Dokumentation steht, und die Ursprungsvorlage wird in ihre Sandbox kopiert, erfolgt ein (sehr sinnentfremdeter) Fehlerhinweis. Das lässt sich leicht vermeiden, und ich habe es vorbereitet und getestet, und um den update gebeten. Da tut sich aber seit zwei Wochen gar nichts. Ich bin ja geduldig, doch habe ich ganz gerne Dinge irgendwann erledigt und vom Tisch. Darf ich dich bitten, den Übertrag zu machen? Kannste mir eine Kategorie verschieben?

Ich hab gerade Fotos von Traktoren am Wickel. Jetzt einen John Deere 6140R. Dabei fiel mir auf, dass es schon eine falsch einsortierte und falsch benamste Kategorie für dieses Modell gibt. Die: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:John_Deere_6140 Eigentlich gehört der aber in diese Unterkategorie: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:John_Deere_6R_series Da sind seine ganzen Kollegen auch schon drin, also John Deere 6130R und John Deere 6150R. Die Kategorie vom 6140R muss natürlich auch John Deere 6140R heißen. Ich habs ein bisschen eilig und deshalb versuche ich dich damit zu nerven, anstatt mir die richtige Stelle zu suchen. SteinsplitterBot does not update property P373 (commons category)

When moving a category, the bot does not update property P373 of associated Wikidata item. This causes that e.g. {{Creator}} template, which categorizes itself automatically, has to be moved manually by updating P373 on Wikidata. --jdx ^Re: 06:54, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

Yesterday I requested to move Category:James Oliver to Category:James Oliver (inventor). The bot moved images, updated the link in "other sites" on Wikidata but didn't move Creator:James Oliver. Creator:James Oliver takes value of P373 to automatically categorize itself so the bot should also update (or even create if it doesn't exist) property P373: d:Special:Diff/1287328093. I don’t know if you use any framework; if you don’t, you can get the claim ID using the wbgetclaims API module (example query) and then change the claim using wbsetclaimvalue (example query, which of course fails because it should be POSTed, and also the token is invalid, but you get the idea). As an option probably, but I wouldn’t make it the default—making edits on one’s behalf is not a nice thing. (Although I must admit I haven’t ever tried to move pages using Pywikibot, let alone creating custom scripts, so I don’t know how it exactly works.) By the way, I recall Mike Peel and/or his bot updating outdated P373 statements, so this might not be an issue in the long run (although the links are broken indeed for a limited period of time). —Tacsipacsi (talk) 21:24, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

Renaming/stats

If I count the renames of all the filemovers in the stats, it are only around 36 (quick count), that's very low for a day, so maybe other users have the same problem? Take your time, no hurry. :-) The bot updated now and the total of my renames is lower than I counted, but counting it manually is not so easy because it's not one edit per rename. So if you check it, when you have time, would be great. / Renaming is not a contest, but if I do a lot, I want everything to be counted. Can't rotate TIFF

I have been submitting pictures for rotation, and the few JPG are correctly handled. For the many TIFF, however, the bot says "Can't rotate". Is this a general problem for TIFF files, or am I just lucky to get the bad ones? Jim.henderson (talk) 13:27, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
