Please add User:FlickreviewR/Images never editted by their reviewer to your watchlist and check for images with your old username review tags. If anyone pops-up and the review was valid, please just replace your old username with your current one and remove these images from the list as fixed. Hello, I always thought Wikipedia's motto was "Feel free and improve". Everyone is encouraged to add, improve or correct information. The same goes for Wikimedia: that's why they built a "Upload a new version of this file" link on every image page. So that is what I did, I improved a crop of a an image from Flickr and described why I thought it is an improvement (tighter crop, eyes in centre, colour correction, noise reduction). Sometimes an initial uploader reverts that, thinking his or her version is better. I most of the times leave it like that, because it is sometimes hard to see your effort been taken over. But you, not being the initial uploader, reverted my version, and I am wondering why. Do you really think the crop by Blue Marble with the distracting shadowline, and the head left of center, was a better one? I doubt it. Maybe you thought this was the original image, and should therefore be kept? Well it's not, it is just an edited version of the image on Flickr. I am not asking for any official, unofficial or personal policies as an answer. I just want to know if you thought the first crop was the better one and why. Hello. Reuploading image ("Upload a new version of this file") is allowed when you make minor corrections to the original image which don't change the image much. You can also reupload when you have the exact image which has higher resolution than the original one (if available in free license). For detail, you can see here. Your new image version about Rowan Atkinson is a substantial crop which is different from the original. I notice that you have already been warned about this by Saibo. Hi, quite an extensive answer, I must say, unfortenately about things I didn't ask for, rules. The only relevant answer was the sentence between brackets. Maybe I should not do this, but I simply have to point out to you that you are trying to silence me with an unofficial guideline, which you seem to see as a policy. It's not a policy, it's not even a guideline, it is a proposed guideline. So, it is up to the individual user whether to follow it or not. So your argument, being "warned before by Saibo" is totally inappropriate, certainly if you know what that was all about. You could have checked the file history. Yes, I think your version is really good and it is appreciated. However, it doesn't mean that you can usurp somebody's image by uploading a substantial crop so you should start it under new filename. And it's not all because that the image is my upload. I have reverted this image before. Although it's not an official policy but I think it's right. I think many people here are following it. For example here. Sometimes, you think your new image is better but another may not think so and overwriting may cause controversies which may lead to edit-warring. While, as you say, Commons:Avoid overwriting existing files, is only a proposed policy, nonetheless it has been seen and discussed by a variety of active editors and is generally accepted. The File:MartinScorsese(cannes).jpg example there of what not to do that is almost exactly parallel to this case. You may certainly upload your crop to a new file with a name such as File:Rowan Atkinson 2011 2 (crop).jpg, but Morning Sunshine's action was entirely correct.

I must also point out that this is Commons, not Wikipedia. Citing WP policy on Commons will often be incorrect as the policies are different in many ways. On Wikipedia, an article does not have an owner -- something that is explicitly covered by policy on WP:EN at Wikipedia:Ownership of articles. On Commons, though, every media file has a creator -- the one who supplied it. That creation may be as simple as uploading it from Flickr or it can be the actual creation of the image or sound. I finished this discussion here. It started because I didn't know Blue Marble is an old name of Morning Sunshine. It only lingered on because of replies he gave. I continued a discussion about the proposal over there because we don't need another restrictive rule. Btw, a copy paster of media does not need to be given more say than anyone else. Oh, sorry for the delay answer. I'm a bit busy on these days. The images that I uploaded through OTRS are all from Flickr. Some users on Flickr aren't willing to change their license on image page, but they still let me use their images freely, so they gave me the permission in the Flickrmail, then I forwarded the screenshot of message as an images attached to email (because Flickrmail cann't be forward directly) to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org and have it dealt with by an OTRS volunteer (you can meet them here. However, I think changing the license on image page is the best way to verify image license correctly. You can also use OTRS for image comes from external source where you can contact with the authors to persuade them release their images to free licenses. In this case, I don't know very much. You can ask for more information from User:Nehrams2020, who has uploaded over 2000 images (many of them are confirmed by OTRS) as well as a former OTRS volunteers. Thank you. The person on this picture is a very good friend of mine and i need to upload this picture to take it on his wikipedia page. So, I didnt take it - but I have the rights to use it!! Hello. I think that your friend's being in the image doesn't make him eligible to release it under free license unless he owns the copyright of it. So you can't have the rights to use it in that way. You need to contact the author/copyright owner of the images to persuade them release it under one of the free licenses and the forward the email you receive from them to OTRS at permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. And then put your undeletion request here to restore it if the permission is sufficient. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Some flickr reviews

[3] [4] You apparently reviewed these images uploaded a few weeks ago. Both currently say "all rights reserved" on flickr. The first has a copyright notice in the flickr image; I think the uploaded image has indications of photoshopping in that area. Do you recall reviewing these images? Hi. I don't remember exactly but I usually look at the page when I review an image from Flickr. So I assume that it was available under cc-by license before the author has revoked it (remember that Creative Commons license are irrevocable when granted). For more information, you can ask their uploader Asj wichi. She/he has uploaded a lot of images about Britney Spears and I think they have knowledge about Creative Commons license. Thank you. Das Foto kann auch in Einklang mit Schweizer Recht behalten werden. Eventuell müsste die Beschreibung redaktiert werden. The reason given by the nominator was "The author of this file, Kecko, was sued by Swiss authorities due to publishing secret information." Both is wrong: 1) He was not sued; you need a court for this. 2) not Swiss authorities; instead Swiss military 3) He did not publish secret information; instead he added descriptions to his photos he found on the internet and this was prohibited (publishing photo+description how it works).

I don't know how such cases were treated on Commons in the past but a deletion is, I agree, not an option. Either the text is redacted (removing the few technical details) or nothing is done since this is only Swiss law. -- RE rillke questions? 13:56, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm sorry if I missed anything. I just see no problem in the image. It is licensed under accepted free permission (The file link to Flickr is dead, however, this image is uploaded by bot and CC licenses cannot be revoked so I assume the license is correct). Hi. Although the image you had uploaded is licensed under cc-by license on Flickr, its copyright belongs to Microsoft which is fair use and not allowed on Commons. Your reason for deletion is "non-commercial" usage isn't allowed. But why is Wikimedia considered commercial given that it's a non-profit?

Wikimedia Foundation is free for all so its contents must be able to be used for any purposes, including commercial. So Only 2 Creative Commons licenses allowed here are Attribution (CC-BY) and Attribution ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA). Other licenses which contain Non-Commercial (NC) and NoDerivative (ND) are not. Hello. The image Entrada Museo Provincial.jpg was deleted because its license, CC-BY-NC-SA, is not compatible with Commons. Only 2 Creative Commons licenses CC-BY and CC-BY-SA are acceptable. For the me, a statement such as "(C)2011 Feld Entertainment Inc. Please contact Photorequests@feldinc.com for usage" in the EXIF data would raise strong doubts about CC-BY licensing. Hello! I have uploaded a lot of images from mynewsdesk.com see here, all which were relesed under CC-licenses by what I understand to be their respective copyright holders. As I understand mynewsdesk is a tool used as a channel for press releases and I have no reason to believe anything else than that the works released there were authorized by the copyright holders. List of Admins

Updating this list is tricky because there are so many hands in the pie. I just added back Andrew c and Bastique, which you removed, because they are still on the system's internal list. Always check that the system's count and the last number in the list (at the bottom) match. While that is obviously not the final word on correctness, it's a good start. For a definitive check compare to http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:ListUsers&limit=500&group=sysop -- putting them both in Excel makes it easy.

Julia Pevzner

This is the picture of Julia Pevzner, an opera director, I got the picture from Julia Pevzner herself by mail, and got the signed permission from Yosi Zevker, the photographer, who owned the copyrights, and sent it to wiki commons.

I always upload pictures that I got the signed permission from the copyrights owner, with no exception, I never take any picture from any other source (in some cases I'm the photographer myseld).

Please give back the picture.

Hello. Capturing a screenshot of a copyrighted games/software doesn't make you the author of that image. Unless you are the designer/copyright holder, you can't have the right to release it under a free license. Please read and follow OTRS carefully. removed photos of Qadria Yazdanparast

Hello Morning Sunshine,

I see that at March 26, you have removed three photos of Qadria Yazdanparast: Qadria_Yazdanparastphoto.JPG, Qadria Yazdanparst bezoek.JPG and yet another photo that I don't have the name anymore because it was not used.
I had written an article about this politician in Dutch and English, and because I didn't have pictures of her, I sent her an email and asked to upload some copyright-free photos to Commons, and then I would put them in the articles on the Dutch and English Wikipedia. And so she did: she uploaded three photos to Commons and I decided to use two of them in the articles.
But now they are removed and I wonder what might have gone wrong, as I'm sure that Qadria herself gave permission as she uploaded them. Maybe she did something wrong because she did it the first time, on my instructions.
I hope you can tell me what might have gone wrong and how this can be restored.

It appears that a user has reuploaded the image and is presenting the image as their own work. I can't tell for sure as the original has been deleted and I can't see if it's exactly the same; it appears the same from memory. This is further to the deletion of the following two images from Aitken Spence wikipedia page:

I contacted the Aitken Spence Hotels (the owners of the hotels portrayed in the picture, who are also the original owners of the images)and obtained their authorization to use the images for publishing on Aitken Spence wiki. The image on http://srilankaandmaldives.com/sri-lanka-hotel has also been authorized by Aitken Spence Hotels who hold the right for the said image. This is also the case for the pic used in http://www.maldivestraveller.com/viewdetail/na_id/13. The same picture was originally published in Aitken Spence Hotels Annual Report on Page 21-23 (refer http://www.aitkenspencehotels.com/images/homepage/141_aitken_spence_hotel_annual_report_2010_2011.pdf)

Sridhar1000 has been blocked indef in en.wiki and moreover globally locked by Billinghurst, which means he can't log in any WMF project. Hello. I don't know Spanish but I think you are mentioning about File:Dragon Ball Z Kai funimation oficial logo.png which I have just marked as copyvio. That is too complicated for a PD-text logo, therefore meet the threshold of originality needed for copyright protection. If you wish to use it on Wikipedia, upload it there, not here. OK, you can ask for other rights but I advise that you shouldn't request to much of them in the short period of time. This can make people think that you are just collecting rights (hat collecting). I'm sorry to say this but you should think about withdrawing your LR review request as you didn't leave any reasons for becoming a LR and from what I can see in your comment above I considered license review, as I upload from Flickr, you may get LR right to reviewing your upload, which is discouraged here. I've observed that you was active on Commons after 2 May 2012. In my eyes, your silence about my question is not a kind behavior, nor the behavior can be expected from an admin. Also there on the photo I can't see the note: "All rights reserved to Capture Queen Photography" (the reason for deletation your provaded). The note says only: "Capture Queen, Photography 2008". The OTRS of these images are valid. All the images from bollywoodhungama.com except wallpaper, poster, screenshot are free to use under cc-by-3.0 according to that OTRS ticket. It appears when you tag the template {{Cc-by-3.0-BollywoodHungama}}. Anyone can do this provided that the image comes from bollywoodhungama.com. As you are a reviewer so you need to know this. Chào Phú, rất vui được gặp cậu. Trước hết, mình xin cảm ơn nhã ý của cậu. Mình ở TP Vinh, Nghệ An nhưng tiếc là mình bận học quá, năm sau thi đại học rồi, đành để dịp sau vậy. Còn về hình ảnh tại en.wiki ki thì mình ko giúp được vì ảnh hiện đang bị gắn thẻ thiếu thông tin bản quyền và có thể bị xóa trong 7 ngày tới. Since when do we privately ask admins to block a user we disagree with rather then taking it to AN/U? Morning Sunshine would be shortsighted to take your request without looking at the facts surrounding this, those being that I already discussed the file in question on it's talk page with another user (an admin no less), and that admin decided to let the matter go and has left the file alone since the 22nd. Then suddenly C3F2k comes alone to the file 4 days later and reverts it to stir up trouble, claiming there's no consensus. Instead, C3F2k should have joined the file talk page rather than reverting it 4 times, especially after I notified C3F2k on his talk page that there was a discussion in progress and he should join it rather then start an edit war, but of course he removed that comment from his talk page (twice), went to AN/U to report me, only to remove it moments later saying "better to deal with this one on one", and coming here to ask another admin to block me without any sort of oversight from the community as would normally be done. In any case, a third admin (Rosenzweig) has protected the file for a week because of C3F2k's edit-warring rather than joining the talk page that was already in progress. I would suggest to C3F2k (if he comes back) to stop A:following me around (because I find it suspicious that you would just "drop by" a file I've edited four days after the fact), and B: if he wants to make it work here, learn to take things to talk rather than edit war. Hi, in April some of my uploads from the CTBTO Flickr account were deleted per Commons:Deletion requests/File:Raymond Jeanloz at CTBTO Science and Technology conference.jpg because of a statement on their website which contradicted the Flickr CC-BY license, but I gather there has since been an OTRS ticket confirming CC-BY is valid, per {{CTBTO}}. Would it be possible to have File:Raymond Jeanloz at CTBTO Science and Technology conference.jpg and File:Susan Watts.jpg restored (another user has already re-uploaded the other two images in that DR)?
