3D STL files

It'll be reasonable to include STL files onto User:OgreBot/Notable uploads or create dedicated report. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:22, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

@EugeneZelenko: what are you talking about? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:31, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
Looks like you missed announcement. See Commons:Village pump#3D objects can now be uploaded to Commons and w:en:STL (file format). --EugeneZelenko (talk) 16:02, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
@EugeneZelenko: I think it's excessive to include all STL files. Can you explain the reason you'd like me to add this so that I can come up with a proper solution? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 19:04, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
New uploads of 3D files may be interesting for people involved in such matters. Copyrights issues are there too. Actually, STL files were included in User:OgreBot/Notable uploads/2018 February 21. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:04, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
@EugeneZelenko: I can create a bot gallery for files in Category:STL files. Would that be sufficient? If not, I could add a new rule to the notable uploads to catch STL files not in that category. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 16:34, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
Separate report should be fine. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 17:18, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
@EugeneZelenko: it should add the files to this page, starting tonight: User:EugeneZelenko/STL files. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 18:20, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

5 final images

Dear Magog the Ogre,

Could you please kindly license review these final images by me please?

I need your help. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 20:23, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

About this picture

Is it possible to reupload this picture for Commons? I uploaded it long time ago, but it was deleted because it had a license or something like that, but in only shows a simple logo. Any idea of cropping for it's reupload? My Regards.--VictorPines (talk) 23:40, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

@VictorPines: I don't think so. That screenshot is too complicated and counts as a derivative work of Konami. If you redrew only the letters, it would probably be OK. I recommend COM:GL/I if you don't have the expertise. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:41, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

Hello, just dropping you a friendly note. I have unblocked User:PANKAJ DEO per his user talk request. I could not find evidence to substantiate a block for out of scope uploads, the block also noted ".. after warnings" when no warnings were issued. It's worth noting that 16 out of the user's 23 uploads are in use. I have also speedy closed the DR you created for the user; the picture uploaded was not a userpage image and it is now in-use on two wikis. I hope you see where I am coming from with my unblock. All the best, ~riley (talk) 05:47, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

@~riley, PANKAJ DEO: I don't remember this, so I probably got mixed up and blocked the wrong user. Please accept my sincere apologies. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:52, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

IMG-date-WA files

I noticed your work on the IMG-date-WA category, thanks for that! I want to ask you not to remove the category after renaming the file. We are considering to rename the category. Even though the file name is no longer bad, it can still be useful (if copyvio concerns arise later on) to know it was once a WhatsApp transfer. - Alexis Jazz 17:57, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

I saw your edits at Category:Road markings in Taiwan. I don't understand why you add "HIDDENCAT" to this category?--Kai3952 (talk) 17:18, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

@Kai3952: I did it for the bots, since template categories are always hidden. It was probably better to just create a second template-only category instead, which I've now done. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 19:41, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

User abusing copyrighted pictures

I was uploading some photos from maimai games with a category named "maimai". When I wanted to check this category, I found some pictures from a game that violates copyright, there are many of them, and was uploaded by this guy. According to his Talk Page, he has received many warnings from it's uploads, all of them doesn't have an use on an article. On maimai category, I found this, this, this, this, this and this. All of these pictures, including those "chibis" versions, are from maimai's official page (just scroll down).

Cheking his uploads, there are many pictures brought from videogames like pump it up, some J-pop idols logos, and many copyrighted logos from many music games. He's ignoring warnings and keeps uploading this unnecesary stuff. Also I checked it's user page on wikipedia, and he was making some problems (you can check that here). This user must be kicked out from the proyect. My regards--VictorPines (talk) 05:03, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

@VictorPines: blocked, files deleted. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 05:29, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Date cleanup

Hi Magog the Ogre, i often used your bot to cleanup the date parameter in {{Information}} template. Could you do a date cleanup for the taken parameter for files that has a {{Flickr}} template? [1] Thank you in advance, --Arnd (talk) 10:58, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

I will add this to my list eventually. If you'd like, you can always make a pull request at https://bitbucket.org/MagogTheOgre/ogrebot. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 04:53, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
i more saw it as a special bot run than a general change of the script. --Arnd (talk) 07:58, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
@Aschroet: I would do it through an update to the cleanup script. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 20:39, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi Magog the Ogre, for en:Proof_test#Proof_marks and general purpose concerning Commons:Approval Marks and Logos of Proofhouses i like see pics from Logos & Marks (official document of austria) on commons. The pics are free as government release. See a translation of the used technical terms. Sorrowfully can not handle a proper import for 20, 50, or more files. Perhaps you can help. My Pictures

Hi dear user! I photographed those photos when I was in museums. That is, I have not taken anyone. Please do not delete the pictures because they belong to me, and I can assure you that the pictures belong to historical personalities. If you do not believe me, I can show you the sources related to those pictures. I've used these pictures in the historical articles in the Azerbaijani Wikipedia and have written detailed information on the pictures on the page. Please take them into account and do not delete the pictures! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elman Həsənli (talk • contribs) 11:47, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

Yours sincerely, Elman Həsənli (talk) (contribs) 15:49, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

@Elman Həsənli: then you aren't the author of the photographs, and you don't own the copyright. Also, I found a good number of your images on Google, so I know your statement is in large part untrue. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 02:55, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
Hi Magog, ff course, you will find these pictures, because there are other people who have drawn those images but, unfortunately, have not uploaded them to Wikipedia. Once again, I can prove that you are the author and to prove that people in the pictures are historical personalities. Please value my effort and do not delete it. I took the pictures with my camera and worked on the Print program. Perhaps others have used those paintings like me, but when I was in Iran, I painted those portraits. THX for attention --Elman Həsənli (talk) 16:16, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
@Mardetanha, とある白い猫: could one of you please explain to User:Elman Həsənli the general ideas around copyright and what s/he's doing wrong? I feel there may be a language gap going on here. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 04:46, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

@Mardetanha, とある白い猫: First of all, you can not translate it because I can speak 11 languages :) As I said, I took only one of these pictures from the internet, and the rest was photographed in museums and galleries. Don't delete photos Elman Həsənli (talk) 15:39, 17 March 2018 (UTC)
@Elman Həsənli: You are still lying. We're highly experienced with such things and can easily spot such a thing. You got many of those images off the internet. Lying about sourcing is a blockable offense on Commons. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 21:42, 17 March 2018 (UTC)
@Mardetanha, とある白い猫: Not a lie, some of the photos I downloaded were taken from the internet and delete them if needed, but not all from the internet. Maybe the same photographer has downloaded to the Internet someone else, but that does not mean that I "stole it". I know the rules and am trying to follow. If necessary, we can debate each photo, if there is a problem, delete the photo Elman Həsənli (talk) 15:10, 18 March 2018 (UTC)

I just now ran across this template. I don't understand the point — isn't there some way to add a header option to {{Blocked user}}, so the header could be displayed if the option were ticked? Couldn't an operator instruct a bot to tick that option? Nyttend (talk) 11:21, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

@Nyttend: not sure why I created that. It doesn't seem very useful. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 22:21, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
Template:Blocked user with header has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this template, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Oh wait, was it a general issue really described by my heading? Did it simply fail for all Februaries? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 23:18, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
@ToBeFree: It was using the default date instead of the requested date, which caused it to and roll over the month (i.e., February 30th evaluated to March). The fix is here: [2]. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:24, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

I found this picture. It's from a telephone company from Mexico, but it has gradient colors just like the original, and that could infringe the copyright. Here's the original logo from the internet. I think may be deleted.--VictorPines (talk) 15:12, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

@VictorPines: that's an edge case. We don't have anything on the Mexican threshold of originality, so I have to presume it's untested. Feel free to nominate for deletion but it could go either way. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:26, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

Hey,

The reason I changed the sourcing is it was incorrect according to the OTRS ticket - looks like they just left the auto-generated template on there (meaning the licence and stuff was also correct). I forgot to correct before transferring, so sorted as soon as I remembered after the transfer. --Mdann52talk to me! 21:48, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

OgreGalleryUpdater.js

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I made a user script relevant to your bot's pages. OgreGalleryUpdater adds a little "(Ajax)" button right next to the "Update this gallery" buttons on your new users/notable uploads gallery pages to automatically refresh the gallery (i.e. so you don't have to click the link and then click the update button). Just a little thing, but I use your gallery pages often enough that saving one click was worth it to me, haha. Cheers, IagoQnsi (talk) 22:02, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

@IagoQnsi: Great idea! FWIW, I used to have as one click, but then the update script was getting called by web scrapers, so I had to put in the intermediate. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:18, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

Question re: Mary Ann Hathaway Tripp image

@Magog the Ogre: Hi, Magog. Just wanted to find out more about why the image of Mary Ann Tripp and my User Name were placed on Ogrebot's new users list for May 2018. (The copyright for this image has expired so I'm not quite sure what the issue could be.) Also, I'd also appreciate it if you could remove my User Name from Ogrebot. (I sent a request via the opt out function earlier this week, but received no response.) Thank you in advance for your clarification. Kind Regards. 47thPennVols (talk) 18:27, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

@47thPennVols: The first question is answered in the FAQ linked in large text of the top of the page. The second question is that your images are no longer added to Ogrebot's galleries. I'm not sure what other "response" you were looking for. If you want it removed from old ones, you'll need to update each gallery. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 01:25, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
@Magog the Ogre: Thanks so much for your response, and for updating Ogrebot to remove my User Name. Regarding your explanation as to why one of my photos was added to Ogrebot, I'm not clear on what you mean when you say, "If you want it removed from old ones, you'll need to update each gallery." (I'm honestly not trying to be difficult here. I'm just not undestanding what you're telling me to do. Could you please explain further?) Thanks in advance for your clarification. 47thPennVols (talk) 02:03, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
@47thPennVols: I mean, when you add your name to the opt out, it won't add any more of your images to the galleries. But it doesn't automatically update all the old galleries that still have your image on them. If you want that done, you'll need to do it by hand. I will do it for you if you request it of me. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 02:48, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
@Magog the Ogre: Thanks so much for the clarification. The process makes more sense to me now. Since I'm not sure which of the old galleries have the image(s) on them, I'd very much appreciate it if you could go ahead and do that update. 47thPennVols (talk) 04:30, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

I forgot the details but I recall submitting everything that was needed and again there is an issue. If we would just use our common sense, we would realize that the possibility of a potential issue with a file uploaded almost a decade ago is almost equal to zero; especially knowing there were no problems whatsoever during all these years. Would you please help us resolve this, in my opinion, nonexistent issue or help Ruff understand? Best regards, Mountlovcen8 (talk)— Preceding unsigned comment added by Mountlovcen8 (talk • contribs) 21:33, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

@Mountlovcen8: the person who created the image, do you still have contact with that person? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 04:16, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

2010 Oregon, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and South Dakota gubernatorial maps

Could you create maps for the 2010 gubernatorial elections held in Oregon, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and South Dakota? I would really appreciate it! Thanks! Count Awesome (talk) 02:21, 13 May 2018 (UTC)

@Count Awesome: ✓ Done Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 04:24, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
Thank you very much Magog! However, I one minor request. Could you change the third party coloring on Colorado from green to purple? I noticed you used this color on a map of the gubernatorial races throughout the country, as it is the color associated with the Constitution Party, whose candidate Tom Tancredo was the winner of several counties in the state. I really appreciate the maps. Count Awesome (talk) 04:34, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
@Count Awesome: instead, consider this a good learning exercise on how to edit SVGs by hand and how to work with hexidecimal colors. I think you'll quickly find it worth your time. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 04:16, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Photos from Press Information Bureau (PIB)

Hi Magog the Ogre, @Jameslwoodward: @LX: Sorry to bother you guys but I had a question. I am aware that we have gone over this in the past at an extensive un-deletion discussion here ([3]) and then a follow-up discussion I had on Magog's talk page here ([4]). But recently I came across this image File:Ram Nath Kovind 2017.jpg which was attributed to PIB and uploaded by @TDKR Chicago 101: . I have specific questions on this - (1) Are we now allowed to upload images released under PIB on Commons? (2) If understand the wording correctly, now, can this be extended to Indian Government ministry websites? To be more specifc, can we now upload images from Indian Army and Indian Air Force? I am also pinging @Krishna Chaitanya Velaga: who was instrumental in getting us the OTRS from Indian Navy and is pursuing this for some time. Thanks. Adamgerber80 (talk) 15:56, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

I don't know why you're asking me this question, nor why it's on my talk page instead of a central location. Regardless, the DR discussion was clearly in favor of not uploading these images. But apparently they have OTRS verification now, so who knows. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:58, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
Hi Magog the Ogre, Sorry if this questions does not belong here. I am happy to ask it at another community location. Do you have a recommendation for it? (Sorry I am not very well versed with Wikimedia Commons). Is Commons:Village pump/Copyright a good location? Thanks. Adamgerber80 (talk) 00:15, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
@Adamgerber80: No need to apologize. You'll get much better feedback when asking the whole community. Yes I recommend VP/C. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:26, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

File:Green Bay Packers radio affiliates.png

Just curious if you can add a dot to the map for WTMJ's translator W277CV within Milwaukee proper and update with any new stations the network has. Thank you. Nate (chatter) 04:09, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

@Mrschimpf: at first blush, it looks like they haven't updated the page for a few years. Can you vouch for the accuracy of http://www.packers.com/media-center/radio-shows/packers-radio-network/station-listing.html and or that page on wiki? In general, I prefer to use the official source, since users tend to bungle this type of page on Wikipedia. But I'm open to using Wikipedia if it's more up to date. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 18:53, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
I used a javascript shortcut to access the 'last modified' date for the affiliate image, and it says 'last updated June 23, 2015', so you're right that it's been a while there. Usually though the Packers project tries to keep the info up to date and fakes out of the list on en.wiki. Nate (chatter) 23:57, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Media Issues on Jugger page

@Magog the Ogre: Hi Magog, i'd like to know if it's possible to put back some of the deleted files on the Jugger article, the following files are made by myself, but they are not protected or licensed (i have the original PSDs, i just don't know to proove they're mine)

For the rest of the pictures, every time i indicated that it wasn't my work, and mentionned every authors and sources. i'd like to know if it's possible to published them in any way ? do i have to manually confirm that i have the author blessing ? Sorry, it's my first time on wikipedia, it's a little confusing.

Take Care Magog ! JuggerParis (talk) 10:41, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

@JuggerParis: Hello. I apologize, this was a misunderstanding due to some of your uploads existing elsewhere online. I have restored all but one of your uploads. Nonetheless, I recommend you go through the process of OTRS to verify your identity, so that no one makes the mistake again. Instructions in French are here: Commons:Messages type.
Can you clarify where you got the base map: File:Jugger World Map.png? Thanks. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 02:08, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
@Magog the Ogre: I'll go do the OTRS Process as well, thanks again Magog ! I took the base map here on this website — Preceding unsigned comment added by JuggerParis (talk • contribs) 09:20, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
@JuggerParis: thanks for the OTRS. As for the map, I couldn't find a free license, so it is automatically an "unfree" derivative work, as we call it.
Would you have the time to recreate it using one of our many free maps as a base (Category:Blank maps of the world)? If it is too onerous, I'll see if we can get someone to help out with that. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 18:44, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

John Worrell Carrington

Greetings Magog - please check extensive rewrite of Carrington page tagged a few days ago: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sir_John_Worrell_Carrington,_Jurist,_1897.jpg JamesSBenton — Preceding unsigned comment added by JamesSBenton (talk • contribs) 19:40, May 28, 2018‎ (UTC)

@JamesSBenton: James - per Commons:Licensing, and as explained on the template you used, the file needs a template indicating why it is free in its home country. In this case, since the file is UK, we are mostly unconcerned with its status in the United States. For example, this template should work: {{PD-UK-unknown}}. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 21:18, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
Thank you, Magog. I'm remiss in not finding the proper template. I've added the Hong Kong template. In talking about this process to the family in the last few days, our, my brother-in-law, who has thoroughly studied JWC's diaries since he retied, said he'd come to the conclusion that the photo was probably taken in Hong Kong before JWC's first visit from Hong Kong to England. Moreover, he believes it likely that the portrait was taken, or at least taken at that time, because James William Norton-Kyshe (writing in Hong Kong) asked for it for his book of 1898. I point out in the text that the photo would be in the Public Domain whether our old assumption (England) or our best assumption today (Hong Kong) were right. I'd be grateful for advice on anything further we should do. JamesSBenton — Preceding unsigned comment added by JamesSBenton (talk • contribs) 19:55, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
@JamesSBenton: international law precedence and Commons precedence point to Hong Kong, I believe. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:41, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
Magog, is there anything more I need to do to have the challenge removed? JamesSBenton — Preceding unsigned comment added by JamesSBenton (talk • contribs) 02:00, May 30, 2018‎ (UTC)

The file that you deleted was improperly tagged as a copyright violation. Can you please restore it? Per the National Portrait Gallery, the portrait is licensed under the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported (CC BY-NC-ND 3.0) licence. AlbanGeller (talk) 23:00, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

@AlbanGeller: Sorry, Commons only allows works available for commercial and derivative reuse. Please pay attention to licensing; the license you used on that page was not Template:Cc-by-nc-nd 3.0, which redirects to speedy deletion. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:06, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
OK. You might have to have a look at the user uploads of User:TomPumpkin69, in that case. He has uploaded many files from the National Portrait Gallery using that particular licence, and I incorrectly assumed he was using the correct one. AlbanGeller (talk) 23:15, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I saw that you RfD'd file:CJ E&M logo.png based on precedent. I think that this case should be reviewed, seeing as the only comments on the RfDs for the previous uploads were in favour of keeping the file (and it was actually kepT!) and seeing as the logo really only does consist of simple shapes and text (it's even simpler than File:Nikken_logo_and_wordmark.svg which is listed as an example at com:to). I saw you warn this user about copyright violation last time out, so I decided to talk about might-be copyright violations committed by him. He started to upload Millonarios kits with club logo on it. He also reverted back the non-copyright version I made to the one violating in and . I have reverted it back but you can see it in the page history. Will you impose block against him? Thank you. – Flix11 (talk) 08:19, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

@Flix11: sorry I forgot to respond to your post. Neither of what he added were in fact copyright violations. Copyright covers only artistic content, like photographs, drawings, and the like. Adding a small red dot or text does nto have enough artistic merit to be covered copyright. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:07, 1 July 2018 (UTC)

Okitasoji.jpg

Hola, Magog

Muchas gracias, quedaré atento a tu respuesta.

A mí me gusta usar CommonsHelper (enlance). Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:48, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
¡Oh, es genial! muchas gracias, entonces seguiré usando CommonsHelper y gracias también por corregir la segunda imagen. Saludos, JOAN → (Dímelo aquí) ← 23:52, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

When you bot made this edit, it moved a license for one image to a different image. The image is a composite, and the source images have difference licensing. --EncycloPetey (talk) 04:44, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

Sheet music of folk song

Hi! What do you think of this file: hu:Fájl:Hollókő dallam3.jpg? This is a sheet music of an old folk song however this song became known in 1963. This year Ilona Borsai wrote this sheet music. Is this sheet music in public domain or not? So can go to Commons? --Regasterios (talk) 08:16, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

@Regasterios: no, it is not OK to upload, since it constitutes a derivative work. Almost all nations in Europe require a work to be 70 post mortem auctoris, including Hungary. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:04, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
One more question: why is copyrighted that sheet music when it is a derivative work of a folk song in public domain? According to the PD-HU-exempt "the expressions of folklore may not enjoy copyright protection". --Regasterios (talk) 18:15, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
@Regasterios: It is possible for a work to make use of a public domain song but still add enough of its own creativity to be considered copyrighted. It all depends on how much of a derivative it is. If it is almost exactly the same as the original, then it may not reach the "threshold of originality". If it adds its own creativity, it is still copyrighted. I don't know enough about the history of the derivative or original song to state definitely. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:33, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
Thank you. It is sure that no own creativity. Ilona Borsai only was the collector of this folk song. See here: "AP 6626/h Hollókő (Nógrád) 5 asszony, 23–34 é., 1963 Borsai I."
  • AP 6626/h: ID of the song and/or record
  • Hollókő (Nógrád): place of the record
  • 5 asszony: 5 women
  • 23–34 é: their ages
  • 1963: time of the record
Every collector tried for reproducing the song in near sheet music. No intention to adding any original work. If they had done it they would have garbled the original song. --Regasterios (talk) 08:54, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

Wondering if you can help me find a solution to a weird problem?

Hello, Magog. :)

I'm pinging you because I see you've cleaned up many of the file transfers from content that en:User:AnOpenMedium has uploaded from Open Media Ltd. I'm wondering if you can help me figure out an approach to a problem I'm having helping this user contribute.

In a nutshell, this individual verified identity and authorization to upload to OTRS in 2011. AnOpenMedium (AOM, from now) had a desire to contribute liberally, and so I crafted a template for AOM based on conversation with some other OTRS agents at the time that verified the authorization, under my affirmation, without AOM having to write to OTRS every time. This made it easier for AOM to upload and saved time and effort for OTRS agents, who didn't have to do the work for every upload.

A couple of times over the years, the upload form has changed in ways that has made things more difficult for AOM, but I've always been able to find solutions that would allow the contribution to continue. While frustrated, AOM has been game to continue.

Recently, the Upload Wizard on EnWP has been adding the "OTRS Pending" tag when AOM puts the OTRS verification number in the form. This led another OTRS agent to reach out to AOM with some confusion, since it was already verified. Image uploading is not my thing, so I'm not familiar enough with the forms to know if there's an uncomplicated way for AOM to upload content without automatically flipping that tag. I'm really impressed with the generosity of this company and the dedication of this individual to release content under free license, and I know the content is widely used. For many celebrities, these images are the only ones we have. Anything I can do to keep it simple and keep it coming, I'd like to help. But I'm not sure if I have the facility myself to figure out the easiest functional approach. :/

Since you're a Commons admin and familiar with this kind of thing, I was wondering if you might have an idea. You can see the way this is formatting here. The template below "other information" is what AOM was asked to use. The OTRS Pending is automatic.

Sorry for my length - I wanted to be complete! If you don't have thoughts, I'd be grateful if you can let me know, and I'll see if I can find assistance elsewhere. :) I might go to the OTRS permission mailing list, but was hoping to do it on-wiki since I hardly ever use that volunteer email account. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:21, 27 July 2018 (UTC)

Oh, P.S. - if you can ping me for any response, I'd be grateful. When I get busy, I sometimes lose track of myself. :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:22, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
@Moonriddengirl: If they are smart enough to use wikitext, I recommend en:Special:Upload. This is the "simple" upload which bypass the wizard and will add exactly what they type in. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:43, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
Thank you, Magog! I'll see if I can put together a simple approach for them. They're not wiki-expert, but very capable. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:44, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
