Macedonian CoA[edit]

The fact you are a proud Macedonian doesn't change the fact that the only Macedonian CoA protected by WIPO is File:CoA Republic of Macedonia-Grb na Makedonija.jpg. That protection occured on the request of the Government of Macedonia.

You should stop reverting and start discussing because wheat cannot be portrayed with black colour, and the CoA you push for has a fluorescent blue sky (which is in violation to any heraldry).

The passport shows the brown colour differently than what you belive is official. Internet is not official, nor the small banners made-up by webmasters who steal from Wikipedia.

Commons is here to host media and not to decide which media is correct or not, ask around.

Bugoslav (talk) 00:37, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The CoA you belive to be official is a version by a Slovenian user Eleassar which he found at www.mymacedonia.net and subsequently uploaded on commons. It is not the official version because some ministry uses it, nor because some simmilar version of it is portrayed in the passport (as of 2007).

  • Based on the text describing the CoA (text of the Constitution) we can draw many forms of the CoA because the text is ambiguous.
  • Not Ministry of Internal Affairs nor the Government of the Republic of Macedonia can decide which is the official CoA. This decision is in the hands and is perogative of the Sobranje (The Parliament of Macedonia) only.

You should compromise and return to the proposal that takes into account the work of Cameltrader and Rainman + the work of Martin. I am inclined to use the "yellow CoA" as official but I am also willing to compromise.

  • The File:Coat of arms of the Republic of Macedonia.svg stood unchanged from the early January 2008 to the late June 2009, then you and Martin came along to push for a POV that exclude any chance of using some elements of the CoA that are completely justified (and sourced). The red star should be compromisaly styled to be bordered with yellow line, the wheat must be yellow (and not black) the sky should not be fluorescent. That is all I ask.

Bugoslav (talk) 20:58, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

P. S. The yellow version is supported by the leading heraldrist of Macedonia and the President of the Macedonian Heraldry Association. It is protected by the World Intellectual Property Organisation and the sources are presented at the File:CoA Republic of Macedonia-Grb na Makedonija.jpg.

Please start discussing on the compromise. You keep the brown poppy buds (even if they are not) and I keep the yellow wheat (instead of black) the blue sky and the yellow hem (border) of the red star.

continuing Are you not even curious about the real orriginal? It seems that you belive that some banners on some web-sites can be a valid source. Also you seem to belive that in Macedonia there is a Police state by which Laws do not apply and the Ministry of the Interior is allowed to choose the "right" version.

You haven't so far been able to compromise even on such minor details such as the colour of wheat (obviously yellow) and the colour of the sky (obviously not flourescent). Did you look at your passport (as if it was a source — which it is most certainly not) and did you see the colour of the sky. It is not flourescent.

The user who started mk:Википедија:Огласна табла за администратори#Грб на Република Македонија is wrong, by the letter of the Law and the Constitution of Macedonia and by the failing to produce real reliable sources.

I urge you to reconsider and return to the compromisal version which incorporate both the passport model and the expert opinion of the Macedonian Heraldry Association as well as the CoA as it is stored at WIPO (File:CoA Republic of Macedonia-Grb na Makedonija.jpg – look at the source in that file).

Bugoslav (talk) 01:18, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If that's the flag of Resen, why does it say "Prespa"? AnonMoos (talk) 16:00, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

COA[edit]

MacedonianBoy, with this edit you misuse the possessive particle の, using it twice for the national emblem and then the COA. I strongly suggest you revert this non-productive edit, because the antecedent fluent description has been maimed and the current one is fraught with numerous mistakes. The alteration of the Chinese description was even more distorting: 在德国内, which you added, means position of ... in Germany! What position can be there for a coat of arms in Germany, would you explain this?? The rest of your bizarre addition:马其顿武器 means Macedonian weapon, thus position of the Macedonian weapon in Germany???!!! Where did you get this senseless concoction? If you persist in altering Japanese and Chinese text, of which you obviously do not have any idea, I shall apprise the administrators thereof. For the last time am I going to redress this disruption of the description. Bogorm (talk) 14:55, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We are not talking about Balkan issues here, Commons as a project is not for this purpose, we are discussing basic Chinese grammar and vocabulary. Well, if you do not want me to edit the description og your COA simply because I am from a neighbouring country and happen to understand a modicum of Chinese vocabulary and grammer, then try to find out a native speaker for this purpose, if you do not want a) the description of the COA to remain illegible and b) a report on the disruption of a fluent Chinese description by the aforementioned edit. Bogorm (talk) 15:02, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
See the description now, and I will ,hopefully, find a fluent speaker to check both version, the current one and yours.--MacedonianBoy (talk) 15:04, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, a verification is desirable. An emendation issuing from your last edit is discernible. Bogorm (talk) 15:07, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Eurobasket 2011[edit]

Hey MacedonianBoy, Some of the land codes you use in the map aren't correct. You need to use these:

  • Belgium: B
  • Germany: DE
  • Spain: ES
  • United Kingdom: GB
  • Israel: IL

Hopefully you can change them.

Hi, good job with the map, but you've missed Kaliningrad Oblast, north-east of Poland, which is a part of Russia. Congrats for qualifying, cheers! Vitriden (talk) 14:15, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I do know the star is off center (and rotating towards the right) and it looks small compared to the law image at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Coat_of_arms_of_the_PR_of_Macedonia_published_in_Nova_Makedonija.gif. The text also looks very different from both images. I want to fix it, but the image comes up broken in both Inkscape and Corel. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 12:46, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Montenegro Maps[edit]

Hi. Nice job on the Montenegro maps. But for example on this one [1] there is a small problem. The Herceg Novi municipality is taking part of Kotor. Could you please fix it? And also, one of the maps that you uploaded did not have boundaries of other republics. If you could add them on that one too it would be very nice. :) (Lilic (talk) 22:18, 19 July 2011 (UTC)). And also one more thing. Tresnjevo/Ivan is not the author of those maps. His municipality map borders are quite different from yours. So, it's not surprising that he removed his map from the page's file. If you want to add a source, the original census link is here [2]. (Lilic (talk) 22:21, 19 July 2011 (UTC))[reply]

I think you should remove his map from the so called "versions" because his map has nothing to do with your version. It may be helpful to add source for the one map, and to add the regional borders to all the maps.
(Lilic (talk) 18:44, 20 July 2011 (UTC)).[reply]

Map[edit]

Dialectological maps aren't demographic maps. They don't show majority/minority groups, they simply show where each dialect of a language is spoken. The fact that it includes areas like Veles (~5% Albanians) has nothing to do with any demographic claim, but simply the fact that Gheg Albanian is spoken in that region. However, even part your demographic claim is wrong as Struga is 50%> Albanian.--ZjarriRrethues (talk) 18:46, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you are right about it, Korca is part of the Macedonian language area. However, I found [File:Dialects of the Albanian Language2.PNG this map] quite uncensored and not reliable. It only says, in other words, dialectal map according XX. Additional to that, the SVG map relays on this map and you can see it is very different. So, which map is acceptable and should be stable version, the one sourced with single name or the online map. It's very confusing, two different claims about one thing. I have chosen the on-line map. Plus, you can see that pink circle above Resen, and it is Plasnica and it officially Turkish people (Macedonian Muslims), but on the map is Albanian. Again one additional mistake. Do not worry, I am not driven by the demographics, its something else and highly inaccurate on the Balkans when the numbers are concerned :) Best--Никола Стоіаноски 18:56, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Struga is less than 50%, Municipality of Struga is just above 50% because of the Macedonian Muslims. For political reasons they are considered as Albanians. That's why I told you demographics on the Balkans is messy :) It would be nice if you show me some academic maps of the Albanian language and we can modify the SVG maps. It's easy to work on a map based on academic sources.--Никола Стоіаноски 18:56, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For example, some good academic maps of the Macedonian are this one and this one. Both are made by foreign scholars. --Никола Стоіаноски 19:06, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You can't remove a whole talk section. It is not done. It wasn't even useless, because I was wondering why I was reported and blocked from editing one of my favourite pages in the Internet. Hi MacedonianBoy, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

Hi MacedonianBoy, there seems a major misunderstanding in the meaning of "Flora". As you can read in the English article (en:Flora) Flora is the plant life occurring in a particular region or time, generally the naturally occurring or indigenous—native plant life. Therefore all plants that do not naturally occur in Macedonia, in other words: plants that are only grown on fields, in gardens, in greenhouses etc. of Macedonia like

do NOT belong to the Flora of the Republic of Macedonia. Greetings, -- Ies (talk) 12:12, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Subcategory for "Suva Gora"?[edit]

Hallo MacedonianBoy, thanks for your numerous WLE-photos! Is it an idea, to start a new "Category:Suva Gora – 30 May 2014"? as a subcategory of the mount and of Category:Photographs taken on 2014-05-30 and Category:May 2014 in Macedonia (similar to India) to avoid overloading the mount-category (or "2014-05-30"). Maybe for the "winter-images" a subcategory may structure the mount-category too, if many photos have been taken on one day. In a gallery Suva Gora you can use short text, and you can (back-)link to other (plant-)pages or categories. Okay – in "München are more visitors, but you can use the page for WP-articles ... with less visitors, like de:Galičica, where I have had contributed (more important to describe and link plants, maps, and environmental problems in the Commons-"Galičica"-(Redirect!) or improve en). Hi MacedonianBoy, I have a question regarding the initial design of the Macedonian flag as proposed by Miroslav Grčev. The flag you made is different from the one described by Miroslav Grčev himself here. The proposal he made has a ratio of 16:10 and the rays’ centers are distributed along the perimeter of a small regulatory rectangle in the sun's disc. In your case the flag is similar to the current flag of Macedonia except the red circle around the disc. Is there any reason for this? I can make the changes and upload a new version if you agree. Regards--Ikonact (talk) 10:50, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The thing about this is as follows: prior submitting the final draft of the flag to the Macedonian Assembly, Grcev made several flags (I vectorized all of them and uploaded on Commons). Based on those designs, he picked this one as the best solution for the new Macedonian flag. However, someone in the Parliament, added red disc around the sun and we got the new flag. Grcev's idea was the new flag to be made of rays connected to the sun, but the final official version is different. He was fine with that. All other designs, prior the last Grcev's proposal, are designs that Grcev was considering at the point of time. Hence, we have many proposals, but only one is official - the one I linked here. Best--Никола Стоіаноски 10:58, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. While reading Македонски Хералд бр. 5 my understanding is as follows: Grcev made 12 proposals (by the way the source shows only 8 different proposals). After two subsequent selections Parliament discarded all but the suns with continuous radial rays. The chosen graphic interpretation of the symbol of the sun with eight radial rays was to be formed into a definite graphic solution. Grcev made a new proposal as I described above and handed it over the to the President on October 4th 1995. The official flag was adopted the day after. So from the reading for me it is not clear if Grcev proposed this one in the first proposal or the current flag was based on the definite solution handed over to the President but with modified ratio and a red disk. --Ikonact (talk) 19:43, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it was modified. Whether I read it in the article or from the video interview, I cannot remember now. I will message you as soon I find it. BTW, you understood well. Kind regards.--Никола Стоіаноски 20:01, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
For me the question is: Was this flag a part of the first 12 proposals? It is not clear as the Македонски Хералд бр. 5 does not present it and says that the rays proposals needed to be made more symmetric. Moreover, it says that the second proposal was made on the basis of the cross version of the rays. If it was, then was it the basis for the current flag? If not, was the current flag based on the new proposal handed over to the President on 4th of October? Thanks--Ikonact (talk) 15:09, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. It was among the 12th and it was Grcev's last design. It could be read in the article I sourced (It was an interview with Grcev). The problem is it is not available online now. If I find it, I will tell you. --Никола Стоіаноски 08:56, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In short, read this and this. This answers all your questions. We still do not know who modified the version you refer to (which is Grcev's final version) and got the current flag.--Никола Стоіаноски 09:01, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Macedonian referendum[edit]

Hallo MacedonianBoy, unfortunately I only now realized that you have created lots of nice election maps of macedonia using a quite nice map template. I have uploaded two maps showing the results of the recent referendum. I had to rely on the map template of the State election commission published on the web site, which is not very detailed. It would be nicer to use your map template that is more detailed. Do you perhaps intend to create a map for the referendum results? Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2018 is open![edit]

Dear MacedonianBoy,

You are receiving this message because we noticed that you voted in R1 of the 2018 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in the second round. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2018) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked.

In the final (and current) round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2018.

Round 2 will end 17 March 2019, 23:59:59.

Important message for file movers[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

further correction to map you fixed?[edit]

Hi MacedonianBoy,

I noticed that you corrected the national borders in File:Malayo-Polynesian-en.svg. Thanks for that.

I assume you got the borders from the original Commons map that I based my map on. Would you also be able to restore the large island of Mindoro in the Philippines?

Similarly with the derivative map File:Malayo-Polynesian (Smith 2017)-en.svg (and while you've got the file open, if you'd like to also make the colors more visible -- e.g. no yellow -- I would appreciate it).

If not, please ping me and I'll make other arrangements. Someone requested this on my WP talk page.

Thanks, Kwamikagami (talk) 21:30, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Sorry, I was offline for some time. I see someone changed it. If there is anything other, let me know. Again, sorry for not responding on time. RegardsНикола Стоіаноски 07:17, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File:NATO partnerships.svg[edit]

Hey! Your the last one to edit the map of NATO and it's partners so your the best person I know to come to for this, but I am asking if you can remove Afghanistan from the "Global partners" coloring on the map and make it grey, since the withdrawal of the US from Afghanistan and the Taliban takeover, Afghanistan has been governed by the Taliban, and not the official government which partnered with the US to defeat the Taliban for 20 years, and the Taliban is not partnered with the US in any way, so I am requesting that you change Afghanistan from green to grey. I would do it myself but I do not know how to edit images and such. Thank you!

Update request[edit]

Hello.

Can you add the border of South Sudan in:

Can you remove Afganistan and color it in gray in File:NATO partnerships.png? After the Taliban takeover, it was removed from the NATO partnership.

SVG maps of municipalities of North Macedonia[edit]

Hello, Македонско момче,

I appreciate your SVG maps of municipalities of North Macedonia (like Map of Tetovo Municipality.svg) very much. The only problem I see is that the three lakes in there are depicted in such dark and intense blue, that the attention is very much attracted to them, though they are not at all the theme of these maps and should not be highlighted. Therefore I experimentally did redraw the lakes in the file of Kriva Palanka and then the first 15 files from Aračinovo to Dolneni to a more common, paler blue of water, as used in many other locator maps. I won't continue now and won't redraw the remaining 64 files for every of the 80 municipalities. But I think the paler blue does it's job to show the lakes but not to highlight them too much, and would like to know your opinion about the proposal. In fact I am quite busy now to readjust the quite hopeless articles about the municipalities of North Macedonia in the Esperanto branch, and therefore yet had to update all 80 sheets in wikidata from the census of 2002 to 2021. So I wouldn't mind if I won't be forced to redraw all the remaining 64 files. But first of all I want you to know about the proposal. Cheers, ThomasPusch (talk) 09:47, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you a lot. Now I see that it is indeed much better. I like the proposal a lot. Thank you very much. I will keep this in mind for the future maps.
Kind regards Никола Стоіаноски 09:54, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Comparing the new files to the topographic map North Macedonia relief location map.jpg and the basic locator map North Macedonia location map.svg now, I think I could have made the color even paler - but I think the exact water color is not even important, just the general idea to have the lakes not highlighted so much. ThomasPusch (talk) 10:11, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Experimentally I just changed Aračinovo and Berovo to the exact water color of the basic locator map North Macedonia location map.svg (c7edff). As I wrote, the exact water color is not important to me, but, what do you think? Do y' think it's a good idea to exactly match the water color of the basic locator map North Macedonia location map.svg, or does that just by personal taste seems "too pale"? Anyway, I now have to return to the hopeless Esperanto pages of municipalities of North Macedonia... ThomasPusch (talk) 10:30, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent. I like either. As you say, it does not focus our eyes on the water, but on the rest of the map. Thank you :D --31.11.113.20 10:44, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Update request[edit]

Hello.

Can you update File:Republicas mundiales.png? Turkey has a full presidential system since 2017 and Azerbaijan has a semi-presidential system. The borders of South Sudan needs to be added, which became independent in 2011 and has a presidential system. Please see the associated Wikipedia articles and sources about this.
