Thank you for your message the file Baalbaki.jpg.

I'm aware of the problem, but 1. that's the first file I upload, so I'm clusmy... :-( 2. I download the file from this page http://www.emaratalyoum.com/life/culture/2012-09-26-1.514460 BUT (again...) 2.1. This pic is already on https://ar.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%A3%D9%86%D8%A7_%D8%A3%D8%AD%D9%8A%D8%A7 which is an Arabic page about the novel "I'm living" (I can read Arabic). 2.2. I've tried to upload the pic directly from the French page https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le%C3%AFla_Baalbaki, through the tool "insert media". But I couldn't find the pic, using different spelling of "Baalbaki", either in Latin or Arabic alphabet. 2.3. That's why I took the same path which is on the Arabic page, and which gives the address of emaratalyoum.com. But I knew it was not really satisfying.

So I'm very glad that you've got in touch with me, hoping that you can help me.

I've also thought I could print the pic and take a picture of it, since it's the cover of the book, and I guess that it's more or less ok to use my own picture of a cover of a book??

If there's no solution, I know that the picture will be deleted... One more thing: I've my own copy of the book in arabic, unfortunately, the cover is different and doesn't have a picture of the author (which is the case with the pic I've uploaded).

Hi, everything in the internet is by default "all rights reserved" and not allowed to copy except otherwise stated. So: We cannot use that image on commons because its just a copyright violation. regards --JuTa 00:12, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

It was uploaded by someone else with license {{Copyrighted free use}} and {{OTRS pending}} at 26.12.2017. It showed a (the?) irish harp with some gaelic and english text beside. The OTRS-period went over today, so I removed it. --JuTa 11:26, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks but that does not help me. If I can't see it then I can't possibly find a solution. I suspect that {{Copyrighted free use}} was not correct in the first place. Hi Ww2censor, I checked it now in more detail. The problem of the missing source was that the source link wasnt working because https: is not working with theyr webpage, but http: is. I corrected that now. I changed the license as well, because the harp seems to fit into {{PD-IrishGov}} and the rest is {{PD-textlogo}}. OTRS release is not required in that case. wikidata person

Hello JuTa! Do you know why the sorting is missing for example in Category:Josef Rainer? Is this a mistake of the wikidata element, or does one have to insert DEFAULTSORT manually? --GT1976 (talk) 06:40, 10 March 2018 (UTC)

I guess you have to add it manualy. If you have people with double/triple given/surname the template cannot decide which belongs to the given and which t the surname. --JuTa 07:18, 10 March 2018 (UTC)

Ich glaube dass dies das einzige Bild von A.A.Voznesensky ist, das immer noch existiert (sicherlich das einzige im Internet), weil seinen gesammten Nachlass, nach seiner Hinrichtung 1949 zerstoert wurde.

Does this mean that I can insert a link to this picture directly from the Wikipedia page? or must a copy of every image in Wikipedia first be uploaded to Wiki Commons?

The owner does not seem to forbid re-use of the picture but requires users to:

  • Provide a hyperlink to the original file
  • Credit the copyright owner

The site does have pages in English and other languages which contain the following basic copyright statement: © 2006-2013 The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation

The Russian language pages, however, (when translated by Google Chrome) contain an additional statement: © 2006-2013 The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation When using the site's materials, a reference to "Russian education for foreign citizens" and notification of an administrator are required. What would you advise in this case?

Hallo Hurlzzz. Ja, aber der Fotograf hat immer noch das Urheberrecht an diesem Bild, auch wenn er auf der Webseite nicht genannt ist. Du hattest das Bild völlig ohne Lizenzbaustein hochgeladen. So wie ich Commons:Copyright_rules_by_territory#Russia_and_former_Soviet_Union interpretiere gibt es für dieses Foto auch keine legale Lizenz ohne Zustimmung des Urhebers. Es wurde, ncacj Deinen Angaben 1947 aufgenommen. Damit ist es mehr als wahrscheinlich, dass der Fotograf 1948 (heute minus 70 Jahre) noch lebte und somit seine Erben weiterhin das Recht an diesem Bild besitzen. Photo Deletion

I received a notification that a photo would be deleted if proper permissions weren’t provided. The owner of the photos submitted written permission, tying their works to the specific page, and acknowledging that they photo would be open for use on any format or website. The letter also contained the authors contact info and websites. The letter was submitted because that’s what Ibwas told was required, but yet the photo was still deleted. The photo was on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brick_By_Brick_(band) and the photo name was BxB_Sound_Of_Revolution.jpg. What do I have to do further in order to restore it? Thanks in advance. Hi Andianajones, the copyright holder has to send an email to the commons support team as documented on Commons:OTRS. They can do it now even it has been deleted. If everything checks out OK, it will be undeleted. regards. --JuTa 08:22, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

Deletion tag - Boissonnas, Un Vaincu

Hello. I have put a tag yesterday that a mail from the copyright holder has been sent to OTRS. Cannot you just wait for the OTRS bureaucrats to process this before putting deletion tags? Hi Hektor. You forgot to add a license template - see Commons:Licensing and Commons:Copyright tags. Under which license does the copyright holder likes to publish this work? If you don't know, please ask him and add the corresponding license template. Otherwise the file will get deleted after about one week. Any file on commons, even with an {{OTRS pending}} tag, needs a valid license template, or will lead to deletion. regards. --JuTa 14:27, 18 March 2018 (UTC)
Well you can put a licence template but since it has not been validated by the OTRS bureaucrats it is quite worthless. I added a licence template which corresponds to the email from the copyright holder (he wrote Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International). That being said I think that the licence plate should be put by the OTRS bureaucrats and not by me and that the OTRS template should freeze deletion until decision by them. Hi JuTa, I'm using a lot but never substed it. I think that it is a good idea to add the template together with {{Wikidata person}} which take the info from Wikidata. It can include "People of ...(country) by name", Menqwomen of ...(country) by name. -- Geagea (talk) 12:11, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi JuTa, I'm wondering how / why this happened. When I look at the history it is as if you have created a new file with a redirect on it. Is that what you meant to do? If there were duplicate images I need to re-categorise File:Classic 1920's PACKARD (10340581246).jpg which is a very bad name (same as a cat which can only have subcats) in any case and the old name you have re-direccted from is the right name. Category:Hoca Ali Rıza

JuTa, one of the most hard-working (perhaps No 1) admins here; "Hoca" is not a given name. It is a title of respect for "artists", "academicians/educators", and "religious leaders". In the first case it is the equivalent of "Master". His given name is "Ali Rıza", a common composite name in Turkish (Atatürk's father was also an Ali Rıza Efendi). As the painter died before the surname law of 1934, he did not reach to have a surname. He was known as "Hoca" Ali Rıza Efendi. Viele Gruesse. --E4024 (talk) 08:15, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

Turkish practice

Hi. As you're interested in names and surnames, just some extra info (maybe repeated but useful). In Turkey we passed the Surname Law in 1934; we can say that more or less people have surnames since 1935. Before that, men and unmarried women used their father's name for distinguishing themselves from other people with the same name. (Married women -generally- used the name of the husband, but some continued to use the father's name.) Look at a good example I just categorized: Category:Hakkı Said Tez. This gentleman was born as "Hakkı". He used his father's (Said Bey) name as a surname, being known as "Hakkı Said" until having a proper surname after 1934. Now his name is Hakkı Said TEZ. (Said, his father's name -which was used as if it were a surname before- now became a "second" name. :) Interesting, right? Look at some famous Turkish women of the late Ottoman - early Turkish Republic era. They all have a female (hers) and a male (father's) name, like: Keriman Halis or Feriha Tevfik. Maybe better could be redirection in opposite way (I have uploaded a set of same named photos) - but keeping all "File:Gdańsk czerwiec 2013 (4).JPG" categories, of course? Dear Ju Ta, I am the grandson of Chaplain Thomas and all of the original photographs are in my possession and were provided to my grandfather by the U.S. Navy photographic division in the 1940's. At the time these photos were taken he was a full time federal employee of the Chaplain Corps of the United States Navy. Copyright law misunderstanding with Mongolia's photos

At this link probably you or someone else has entered the misunderstanding about copyright law of Mongolia: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Theaters_in_Mongolia ; Plus the COM:FOP#Mongolia link in the red frame says only expired version of the law plus the original law link is dead! But I have found the 2006 law version here that the whole warning thing is incorrect. In that 2006 version please do search function of "1948" and there is no any statute regarding 1948. Thank you. Hi User:Freespace23, that still looks a bit strange to me. The images on her webpage are released cc-by-sa-4.0, true, but they a not looking as selfies. So: She is normaly not copyright owner of them and cannot release them by any license. Only the real photographer can. If they are official NASA photos, {{PD-NASA}} might apply. Btw. you claimed own work for those images, which isn't true. I dont like to decide this case by my own, please raise a Commons:Undeletion request. Hi -- thanks for the response. Brand new to wiki so forgive the rookie work. Sorry for the confusion- I am Kellie Gerardi, and that was my website that I linked to. I created the images and retained full copyright. Both accounts were mine (I forgot the PW to Edit0r77 and ended up making a new account and trying to upload the file again once I realized there was no longer a photo on my page. Would appreciate any advice on how to resolve. The copyright was mine, combination of remote triggers and pulled video stills from my work -- solely my own. Bilder Mommer

Hallo JuTa,

sorry, dass ich mich jetzt erst melde, ich habe halt heute erst bemerkt, dass du einige Bilder aus dem Artikel Willy Mommer gelöscht hast, da angeblich keine Freigabe vorhanden war. Ich als derjenige, der diese Bilder hochgeladen hat, bin diesbezüglich auch nicht informiert worden.

Fakt ist jedoch, dass ich vor längerer Zeit mich an die Ausarbeitung des Artikels Willy Mommer beteiligte. Über Benutzer:Dolores18, die mir bekannt ist, bin ich an einigen Bildern gekommen, die aus ihrem Archivbestand sind. Diese habe ich für sie am 6. Februar (!) hochgeladen und ihr zugleich die Freigabeerklärung geschickt, die sie wiederum ein Tag später ordnungsgemäß an das OTRS-Team weitergeleitet hat! Eine Kopie ihres Mails an das support-Team liegt mir vor.

Da bis zum 7. April auf diesen Bildern noch keine Freigabe vermerkt wurde, schrieb ich AKA an und dieser versicherte mir, dass er die Priorität von "Normal" auf "Höher" gesetzt hat. Trotzdem sind die Bilder offensichtlich nicht freigegeben worden, obwohl alles rechtens gelaufen ist!

Deshalb verstehe ich die Verzögerung beim OTRS-Team insgesamt und letztendlich auch Deine Löschung nicht und bitte Dich freundlichst um Klarstellung dieses Problems.

Es handelt sich um diese Bilder: File:Männerquartett Eupen 1959.jpg, File:Männerquartett Eupen 1959 (2).jpg, File:Plattenhülle Männerquartett Eupen DNB 30.005.jpg, File:Willy Mommer, jun..jpg, File:Willy Mommer, jun. (2).jpg.

Hi JuTa, Back in November it looks like you deleted an image from the Gary Russell Libby - Wikipedia page because of No OTRS permission. Two releases were needed, one for the work depicted in the media and one for the media itself. A "Work Depicted in the Media Copyright Release" from Mr. Libby was emailed to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org on August 19, 2017, for the painting in the photograph. However, a copyright release for the media was never emailed to Wikimedia by Stetson University, the owner of the photograph. The required copyright release has been obtained from Stetson. I need to know where the release should be emailed or uploaded and how to get the image added back to his page. Can you please provide guidance for this. Thanx bunches in advance. I would like to warn you about incorrect (and unfair) edit when you redirected File:Autocesta A1.svg to File:A1-SRB.svg. Originally, File:Autocesta A1.svg referred to Croatian A1, while File:A1-SRB.svg referred to Serbian A1. As you can see, on 25 April 2018 user Ђидо uploaded new version of File:A1-SRB.svg. That new version is actually downloaded from File:Autocesta A1.svg which was uploaded long ago. Now we have following situation: A1-SRB.svg stands everywhere, even on articles about Croatian A1 and articles and templates about Croatian highways. Hi JuTa, why you are keep reverting my version of A1-SRB.svg? -- yes, I used copy of Croatian A1 sign, because they are identical in appearance, but, conceptually, they are different signs, prescribed by two different jurisdictions -- take, for example, Latin script "A" letter and Cyrillic "А" letter. Although they appear same on the screen, they are two different code points in Unicode because semantic of usage is different. So, sign for A1 motorway in Croatia, and A1 motorway in Serbia (and in Macedonia, which uses same-looking graphic) are semantically different. They are not same symbol. Moreover, version you keep reverting to is not official sign of A1 motorway anywhere, and definitely not in Serbia, so it is wrong to use, as it would be equally wrong to use Croatian traffic sign for Serbian motorway. Hi JuTa, since you again merged File:Autocesta A1.svg and File:A1-SRB.svg, I have to warn you again about some illogical and unfair issue. This time, name of "common" file is not bad, File:Motorway-A1-Hex-Green.svg. But, way of merging is still not fair. See, current version was made and uploaded by Tomobe03 in 2010 as File:Autocesta A1.svg, while version which is not used anymore was firstly uploaded in 2011 by Daniel749 as File:A1-SRB.svg. But, if you check File history of File:Motorway-A1-Hex-Green.svg, you will see there is no evidence that version of file, which is currently used, was actually uploaded by Tomobe03 in 2010. That's not fair to Tomobe03! I suggest restoring of Tomobe03's File:Autocesta A1.svg. It can be used also for other countries, not only Croatia, considering Autocesta A1 is also neutral name. Also, restore Daniel749's File:A1-SRB.svg, but with Fredddie's version from 10 September 2017, and rename it to neutral name, for example File:Motorway-A1-Rect-Green.svg, where Rect refers to rectangle shape. Both signs (file versions) may be used, depends on country. That's why I suggest you to restore Tomobe03's Autocesta A1.svg with its version (which is currently used in "common" file) and restoration of Daniel749's A1-SRB.svg under neutral name and with version from 10 September 2017. Review on current situation: Tomobe03's file was uploaded in May 2010 while Daniel749 uploaded his file in September 2011. Now, when files are equalized, wouldn't be more logic to move copy (A1-SRB.svg, now Motorway-A1-Hex-Green.svg) to original (Autocesta A1.svg) instead of this way (original->copy)? It wasn't okay to talk only with Ђидо about moving and renaming of someone's file without opinion and consent of other side. Sorry but my answer is no. He is named as author, even if the file history doesnt refect this. The only thing I see would be a history merge, which is a lot of work not realy woth of it. It means 1) restore the autostada files. 2) remove the current versions of the merged file 3) rename the autostrada file 4) restore the now deleted version os the merged file. This would result a mixed up page history which could be confusing as well. You could try to raise a Commons:Undeletion request. In my opinion, merging is not necessary. While I was admin at hr.wp, any newer duplicated file (or article) was deleted, without any question. The name of file in this case is (in my opinion) irrelevant.--Ma▀▄Ga 08:31, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

Bild gelöscht

Hallo JuTa, du hast gestern das Bild: „File:GfK Kaufkraft Deutschland 2018.jpg“ gelöscht, da angeblich keine OTRS-Genehmigung vorliegt. Ich verstehe das nicht, denn am 01.03.2018 hat die Rechteinhaberin eine Bildfreigabe an die Adresse permissions-commons-de@wikimedia.org gesendet. Eine Kopie dieser E-Mail liegt mir vor. hi JoeHard, wenn sich nichts an der Bildbeschreibung ändert - sprich ein OTRS Mitarbeiter die Freigabe bestätigt - fallen die Bilder nach gut 2 Monaten automatisch in eine "bitte löschen" Kategorie. Bitte wende Dich - gerne auch auf deutsch - an Commons:OTRS noticeboard. Kann sein dass der Fall schlicht vergessen wurde, kann sein dass die Freigabe nicht OK war oder Rückfragen nicht beantwortet wurden, oder, oder, oder. Gruß --JuTa 16:52, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
