Category: Anna Dado Saffiotti[edit]

Dear Jcb, I'm writing to ask some information about the deletion of Anna Dado Saffiotti's category from WikiCommons. I read in your profile that you are an OTRS volunteer, so I guess that you checked the license I added to all the photos in the category. Now, I seriously need to get that page back on WikiCommons, in order to use a couple of photos in Anna Dado Saffiotti's page on Wikipedia. The page, which was created by a colleague of mine and me, will be part of an exam in January, that's way I seriously need a tempestive help. My colleague and I tried to follow all the instructions for the OTRS license but, I suppose, we didn't get them well. We asked the copyright owner to send an email, as shown in Wikimedia Commons instruction, and then to add the wiki link to Anna Dado's Category. What did we have to do more? I'm so upset just because we ARE ALLOWED to publish all the photos I have uploaded, but, of course, we haven't understood all the steps we have to follow to prove it to Wikimedia Commons' staff. Could you please tell me all the instructions I should have followed? Hope to hear from you soon. Yours sincerely, Elisabetta Sposito- Medicine student ad UCBM, Rome-Italy. P.S. Please forgive me for any grammar imperfections. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elisabetta Sposito (talk • contribs) 01:18, 3 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Did you send evidence of permission to OTRS by email? Jcb (talk) 15:40, 3 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
According to the instructions we told the author to send an evidence of permission and she also added the page's link... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elisabetta Sposito (talk • contribs) 10:23, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Did they receive an autoreply with a ticket number? With this number I can check the status of the ticket. Unfortunately we have a huge backlog at OTRS. Jcb (talk) 16:59, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well this is the email that the author sent > I authorize the use of the photographs relating to Anna Dado Saffiotti, > allowed to Elisabetta Sposito and Chiara Sparagna. > Source : > Elena Branca - "Appunti di studio - Dottoresse al Fronte? La C.R.I. e le > donne medico nella grande guerra. Anna Dado Saffiotti e le altre" ISBN > 978-88-940159-2-8 > Kind Regards, > Elena Branca Here is the answer Dear Elena Branca,

Thank you for your permission to use media files on Wikimedia Commons.

In order for us to process your contribution, we need to know the specific name or URL of the page on Wikimedia Commons to which you have uploaded it, or the user name used to upload.

If you have NOT yet uploaded, please continue to upload the file(s) and let us know when done.

Yours sincerely, Alfred Neumann After this email she sent one with the page’s link. That’s all I know... I have asked here if she has received another email. As soon as I get some information I will definitely let you know. I’m so sorry about disturbing you, but I need to get those photos back in some way! Ahaha Elisabetta Sposito (talk) 17:19, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In our reply, there is a ticket number in the subject field. If you can get that number for me, I can take a look what the status is. Jcb (talk) 17:26, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Agave nigra[edit]

Saludos.--MILEPRI (talk) 20:39, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jcb,

The supposed author has sent an email to OTRS about the image you deleted. -- 1989 (talk) 21:48, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's in Norwegian. Maybe @Josve05a: can check the ticket? Jcb (talk) 22:48, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, this slipped my mind. The permission seems fine, except that it is a forwarded statement (which is not permitted any more). --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 22:17, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Another OTRS ticket was sent regarding a different image deleted by you. -- 1989 (talk) 21:04, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I sent a follow up message, let's see what happens. Jcb (talk) 21:12, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bestanden van Arkesteijn[edit]

Een tijdje terug zei je dit: "You will stay away from these files until there is a consensus."

Maar better safe than sorry.

Removal of Images from Knanaya Article?[edit]

Hello JCB,

I wanted to ask why the follow images were deleted:

To my knowledge, these images were given direct approval for use from their author Alexander J. Mapleton from his text: Knanaya Catholics History - Heritage - Heroes. Thomast48 (talk) 15:17, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • We never received the permission at OTRS. Files can be deleted by an OTRS agent if we receive a proper permission. Please be aware this may take some time, OTRS has a backlog. Jcb (talk) 17:35, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • So permission must be given at both wikimedia commons and OTRS? Is there a link to the petition page or the processing page for OTRS permission? Thomast48 (talk)

Hi Jcb, just to make sure, did you guys receive the permission email? I spoke to the author about the images and he sent the permission email to commons. They sent us the following ticket number: 2019012210001349 Thomast48 (talk) 06:15, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, we received the email. Jcb (talk) 16:00, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Question on two images[edit]

Hello, regarding File:Jared Bruggeman.jpg was there not a permission thing sent in from the Release Generator? The author of the image emailed me back saying they had used the generator to release the images for use.. I can get you the author's name and info if needed. Thanks, Corky 21:18, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

He also sent in permission for File:Jeff Boschee.jpg. Thanks, Corky 21:19, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted photos of Alain Mugica[edit]

Hello, I’ve imported, some months ago, a lot of pics of Alain Mugica. I’ve forgot to told him about the OTRS permission, so the photos had been deleted. Deletion of three images[edit]

Hi Johan, three images have been deleted although they belong to my private archive. In particular, the following original are property of my family (Bonarelli), have been directly photographed by me and can therefore be used on Wikimedia Commons: File:Guido Bonarelli.jpg File:Coa Bonarelli.jpg File:Coa bonarelli.jpg I therefore call for the deleted images to be restored. Thank you for your kind attention.

--Guido Bonarelli (talk) 11:02, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Taking a picture of a picture or coa does not make you somehow the author of the original work. Please see COM:DW. Jcb (talk) 15:32, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is one of the few remaining things in the Category:Undelete in 2019. File:Assinatura yogananda 200pxl.jpg is apparently a signature used in a book that was apparently published in the US. Person died in 1952, so if India protects signatures like other published material, it would have been PD-India in 2013. File:Assinatura de yogananda.jpg also seems like it could have been undeleted in 2013.

File:Autograph of Abul Kalam Azad(miniature).jpg was marked as Undelete in 2019 in that. He died in 1958.

The files in this DR are a mess. Probably the best thing to do is to post this at COM:UDR, so that several people can have a look. Jcb (talk) 17:53, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'll post an UDR per your advice. Abzeronow (talk) 18:08, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion request mistake[edit]

You had marked this deletion request as 'keep' with the rationale being that the pictures were pd-India. However this was a mistake as the commons policy states that images have to be public domain in the original country and the U.S if is to be kept. The pictures were not public domain in the U.S.

I'm going to put clpo13's response here as it concisely explains why:

Since the photos were created in (or around) 1914 in India, they became public domain there after 1964, per {PD-India}. As they were public domain in India prior to the URAA date (January 1, 1996), their copyright wouldn't have been restored in the United States by URAA. However, the available evidence appears to show that they were first published when USC put them online, so they fail the first requirement (and probably the second) of {PD-1996}, though they pass the third. Therefore, we have to treat these photos according to US copyright law unless it can be proven that they were first published outside the US. We don't know anything about the author of the photos, so the public domain date depends on when they were first published, per COM:HIRTLE. It seems likely that it would have been after 2002, in which case the photos will become public domain 120 years after creation (that's 2035, assuming a 1914 creation date). Since there's significant doubt over their copyright status in the US and Basel Mission claims to own the copyright to them, they should be deleted per COM:PRP.

Can you please reconsider your decision and close the request as 'delete'? BreadBuddy (talk) 19:46, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Insignia of Ukrainian territorial entities[edit]

Please, stop deleting flags and coats of arms of Ukrainian territorial entities. You say there in no sources, but in most cases the official website of a territorial entity is a source. Please, notify me if you are going to delete any more of those files, I will look if they were taken from official website, and if so, add it as a source. --TohaomgTohaomg (talk) 00:42, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's in principle the responsibility of the uploader to provide adequat source information. If you think I deleted a file for which {{PD-UA-exempt}} may apply, you can always ask for temporary undeletion so that you can have a look. Jcb (talk) 09:38, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

deleted pictures[edit]

Hello.

I uploaded three pictures and received OTRS tickets. But, all the pictures were deleted. Ticket#2018121110002626 Ticket#2018121110002706 Ticket#2018121110002761 Is there any problem? Could you check? Yujooli (talk) 16:55, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No valid permission was established within 30 days after our first response to the ticket. If the permission is completed and valid, the involved OTRS agent will take care of undeletion. Jcb (talk) 17:04, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I sent the OTRS mail according to the written instructions, but I don't know why I didn't get permission. Anyway, do I have to upload three pictures again and send OTRS mail again? Yujooli (talk)
The ticket is currently open. Do not reupload the files. An OTRS agent will get back to you. This may take some time, because OTRS has a backlog. Jcb (talk) 17:18, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. I will be waiting. Thank you for letting me know. Yujooli (talk)

Block of Milan Bališin[edit]

Hi Jcb. I noticed that you have blocked Milan Bališin for a week.

I have to say that I don't really agree with your decision. The user is a long term contributor with many Quality images under his belt. The only thing he's been trying to do in the last few deletion requests was to delete photos he uploaded under his name but he's not their author. As B suggested, it was most probably in the early stage of his wiki career - and it truly was, these pictures are one if his oldest contributions. Milan was most probably just trying to fix his mistakes. He just may not have explained himself correctly, I suspect that he wasn't aware that it'd be such a hassle to delete these files so he didn't bother to explain the issue thoroughly and tried different reasons in different times.

Milan also argued that these pictures were taken very far away and with different camera from where he was that day. It's not really possible that he'd manage to be at both places at the same time unless he'd jump into a helicopter. Did you take this argument into account? If not, how come? How do you explain that?

You also warned Milan only by one short sentence without any further explanation. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm lacking good faith here.

I believe we should be more tolerant towards our long term contributors. I understand blocking newbies or anonymous for disturbing behaviors but Milan has been great contributor for years, he only wanted to delete 3 pictures that he uploaded a few years ago under his name but that are quite obviously not his. I'm not going to unblock him or delete the pictures - I respect other administrators and value their work too much. But I'd like to ask you if you could have a look once again into the issue and possibly reconsider your decision because it's quite clear to me that these pictures are not his. With kind regards, --Podzemnik (talk) 21:03, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think you have missed over 90% of what this user did at Commons in the past years. This has been going on for a while and it's not about just 3 files. First they tried to revoke the contribution of dozens of files and only when it became clear to them that you cannot revoke a CC license, they started to declare that they would not be the photographer. Jcb (talk) 21:29, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Jcb, if this wasn't a case of a user trying to revoke their contributions and was, instead, a case of a DR where someone had nominated the files for deletion on the basis that these photos were taken in a different country on the same day as some of the user's other uploads, and that they were taken with a different camera than the user used on any of their other uploads, what would your decision be? Even if the user is/was trying to revoke their contributions, we if they actually did upload a copyright violation, we should still delete those. --B (talk) 22:09, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If this user has indeed a good reason, they will have to start to discuss this first and only if there is some consensus in advance there may be a new DR. The repeated mass deletion requests have to stop. Jcb (talk) 22:20, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Mass deletion of Trainiac photos (done)[edit]

Dear Jcb

You mass deleted a large number of Trainiac photos without discussion. I noted that at least one of them was published after 1923, but most of them appear genuine. Unfortunately, the licence that I had included was still inserted at the wrong location in the file, but I thought that this would be sorted by a robot. I have categorized (most of) these photos manually, which took considerable time. Could you undelete them, please, or at least double-check their legitimacy (especially regarding PD-Australia)? --NearEMPTiness (talk) 06:24, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As a precedence, please check [[File:EL089 006 (21562717631).jpg|thumb|A log hauler at Russell Allport & Co, Hobart]], where I clearly had inserted {{PD-Australia}} and {{PD-1996}} although this might have not been displayed correctly. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 06:46, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
All the files had the Flickr Public Domain Mark, which is not a valid license. The files that I checked did not have PD-Australia, but if they have, like in your example, there was still no date information given, so that it could not be verified whether PD-Australia could apply. Please be aware that it's your own responsibility to do proper after care if you do such file transfers. Jcb (talk) 12:32, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for being vigilant. Could you please un-delete the files, so that I can do the proper after care? --NearEMPTiness (talk) 13:15, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I will see what I can do. Jcb (talk) 13:17, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Otherwise, I would need to re-categorize them again. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 13:20, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can see all the files are back online. Jcb (talk) 13:39, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I have updated the licenses of most of them and got the remainder deleted. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 23:30, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of album covers[edit]

Hi, why did you delete my album covers

I had requested the permissions from the original copyright holders and an email is being sent to OTRS. You were not at right to delete these pictures as there was a seven-day deadline for me to provide the licensing.

Restore them.

Rayukk (talk) 11:29, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You added fraudulous OTRS tags and now you think that you can order me? If you sent a proper permission to OTRS, just patiently wait until an OTRS agent handles the ticket. Jcb (talk) 12:34, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Coins photos[edit]

Hi there. I will be the least one to join on the complain list. Don't get me wrong but you're questioning licencing for 19th century coins because of a photographer issue? I mean, whoever is a photographer (if we doubt uploader is such one) is it even copyrighted? Maybe I'm taking an analogy from Polish copryright but I always thought one's work has to be original, distinctive piece of work to be copyrighted. And yet we are talking about plain, straight photographs of a (twice) copyright-free item. There is no specific composition, lighting, extraordinary quality, just the simpliest way to transfer the original design into a photograph. I will (strongly) agree that in this → 20 px case there is an item of copyrighted work both in the coin design and (maybe to a bigger extent) a picture itself. But if we stick to the principles you're implying then we need double (or maybe tripple) licencing for every single picture of any material thing. If we printed Wikipedia page we could glue in an actual coin, but we can't attach a straigt photo of it because of copyrighs? Aʀvєδuι + 12:54, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it's an established consensus that pictures of old coins have their own copyright, please see Commons:Currency, the first point under 'Important points'. Jcb (talk) 13:19, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File:4G7FM PL0062-20.jpg[edit]

Dag Jcb,

Jcb (talk) 21:04, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Dank! Groet, Sint Aldegonde (talk) 21:22, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Question on cities heraldics or logo integration[edit]

Dear Jcb

I'm quite new and recently tried to integrate heraldics and logo of the city of La Fare-les-Oliviers. I tried to document taking examble of what have been made for the city of Mende : Logo_mende.jpg. It wasn't good apparently as you deleted them. May you tell me if it's possible and then how, if we need to give a specific autorization and how, more generally give me advice.

Thanks in advance — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cédric Delahaye (talk • contribs) 19:55, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If a file has been previously published elsewhere on the web, verification via OTRS is mandatory. If you are the author of these images, please contact OTRS. If the OTRS agent thinks the permission is valid, they will take care of undeletion. Please be aware that this may take some time, because OTRS has a backlog. Jcb (talk) 21:08, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so I wait for validation. Rgds. Cédric Delahaye

Fake coats of arms[edit]

If we agree to support these fake files, it is not possible to support them in the categories of coats of arms of Menorca because they neither are coats of arms of Menorca they nor have anything to see. It is an artistic invented work. This generates many confusion.--Lopezsuarez (talk) 00:45, 13 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You cannot unilaterally decategorize those files. Do you have the slightest idea of how much volunteer time is spent to categorize our files? And your rename requests were invalid, we don't add such qualifications to file names. Repeating this after warning was dumb, now you have a week to think about it. Deletion of photo of Annick Cojean[edit]

Hi! I don't understand the deletion of the picture which I uploaded at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Annick_Cojean.jpg. The picture was extracted from a screenshot of a video https://vimeo.com/65040441, which is licensed with the BY-SA 3.0 Creative Commons license, therefore I do not see why I cannot extract a screenshot and upload it on Wikimedia Commons with the same license. OTRS deletions[edit]

Hi Jcb, could you please hold off on deletion of OTRS-pending material? Currently there is a very long backlog, and it's a bit counterproductive to delete them only to restore them when the permissions are processed. Commons:OTRS/backlog shows the size of the backlog in days. Thanks, King of 00:32, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You are mistaken. The backlog is taken into account by the timer of {OTRS pending} and it has been for a very long time already. Please get yourself better informed before being pedantic to colleagues. Jcb (talk) 15:55, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I now realize that you do reset the timer as a general practice, but some did fall through the cracks, like File:Alex Moreno, 2017.jpg, which made me think you weren't doing that already. -- King of 02:35, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jcb. You deleted this file (at least one with the same name) back on December 19, 2018, but it's been reuploaded by another editor (my guess is that it's same editor using a new account). Why did you revert my change?[edit]

Hi Jcb, you recently reverted my category change of File:Todesfaelle w54 gesamt 1979-2007.jpg. Why did you do that? I gave it the most specific category I could find: The picture shows cases of death by cause "W54", W54 is the ICD-10 category for "Dog bite", see article "Dog bite" in the English Wikipedia. In my opinion, the categories "Statistics of Germany" and "Death" are much less specific, "Crime" is even wrong for this picture. --TeKaBe (talk) 07:24, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You removed the licensing, so that the file was added to one of our error reports. Also please be aware that the categorization is the only way to find files at Wikimedia Commons. It's in principle not a good idea to bring back the categories from 3 to 1. Jcb (talk) 12:22, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I understand. The license removal happened of cause by accident. --TeKaBe (talk) 19:01, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Only your new best friends Fae and Tuválkin support the block. I count at least 13 people very much saying this was a bad block, including many admins. Your defiant comments do you no favours. I am appalled that you did not discuss with Jd before blocking him. And I am appalled at how wrongly you have misinterpreted his edits post the blanking. This was not an editor in any danger to Commons. -- Colin (talk) 18:33, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I know you are bugged by many things I do. Is there any way we could come to an agreement, perhaps in combination with other users you feel bugged by? I only want one thing. To see you still have a community mandate. I would back off a considerable bit if I knew the community supported you. But if the only reason you are still an admin is because you effectively have tenure that can only end if you severely abuse your power and not because the community still supports you, I can't respect that. I hope you can understand that. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 11:12, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As long as you are making a struggle out of everything, don't expect a peaceful environment around you. You reap what you sow. And as far as I'm concerned, you are doing it without a community mandate. I would be happy to "agree to disagree" if you actually had a mandate.

Deletion of picture Bernger von Horheim in Weingartner Liederhandschrift[edit]

Hi,

can you tell me why you deleted this picture?

As a reason it says Copyright violation, however, the Württembergische Landesbibliothek Stuttgart says on their homepage that everyone is free to use pictures in jpg without asking for permission (aus den Digitalen Sammlungen entnommene jpg-Dateien unterliegen der Creative Commons Lizenz BY-SA und dürfen ohne Einholung einer Genehmigung verwendet werden). I even gave the credits to the Landesbibliothek Stuttgart and mentioned them when uploading it to Commons. So where is the problem if I want to use it for the article 'Bernger von Horheim'?

Thanks in advance for clarification — Preceding unsigned comment added by EisResi (talk • contribs) 18:49, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You did not add a license. Instead, you added '© 2018 Zeutschel GmbH, Tübingen'. When I clicked the hyperlink, that copyright statement was also the only thing visible. Please don't expect that an administrator will dig for additional statements at an external website if you upload it this way. I will undelete the file. Please update the licensing or it will be deleted again. Jcb (talk) 21:19, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,

These three photos were uploaded in August last year. The copyright holder sent their OTRS permission on 15 August. They were first contacted to verify the permissions on January 27th, and supplied full information that day: Ticket#2018081510001217 Is there a problem? If not, I'd be grateful if you could you arrange the undeletion of those three images. Thanks, Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 20:44, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

!? I don't understand the problem. I closed that ticket on 26/01/2019 - 22:29 PM as "done" with "I have made the necessary modifications to the file page, please verify." And on 27/01/2019 - 00:51 I received: "Hereby Verified!". Perhaps there is something that I'm missing, or it is another ticket... Regards. --Ganímedes (talk) 00:53, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Daisy Clover Rock band image removal[edit]

Please advise why you deleted the image of the band please? I have permission to upload it. Please advise what I need to do to have it on the Daisy Clover article? User:Thegman81

NPG images[edit]

Hi Jcb, NPG images on UDR are still waiting for a solution. Everybody except you agree that they are {{PD-UK-unknown}}. So the main reason they are still deleted is the claim of URAA. You are usually against deleting images for this reason. Where do you stand about these? Regards, Yann (talk) 15:13, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is a complicated situation. On one hand I strongly disagree with the URAA argument, on the other hand I am not convinced at all that PD-UK-unknown would apply and I am not the only one. At least Carl Lindberg stated his doubts about this. Another complicating factor is that we know that the uploader is a sockpuppet of a LTA (clearly visible at day one, later confirmed by a CU), who probably uploaded this batch with the purpose to cause a controversity. Maybe that factor could provide a way out of this situation: declining the UDR because it was opened by a sockpuppet of a LTA. Jcb (talk) 15:56, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We usually do not care who made a request, if that request is valid. IMO this should not play a role in the decision. Regards, Yann (talk) 16:57, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't be upset by that decision if you took that as an out(uploader being a sock). Abzeronow (talk) 03:22, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What do you have to do with this file? Jcb (talk) 21:51, 1 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I started the article de:Ramin Peymani in october 2017 and asked Mr. Peymani for a photo by mail, which was delivered in november 2017.
Apparently there wasn't any problem with that photo during the last 14 months .. --Anti. (talk) 23:53, 1 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Not all problems are discovered instantly. We don't have sufficient manpower here to check all uploads. Jcb (talk) 23:59, 1 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
So, what's the actual problem? I bet we can solve it. --Anti. (talk) 00:08, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We don't have permission from the photographer. We have asked for it, but never got a response. Jcb (talk) 00:10, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
So you'd need a permission from User:Reiniger68, as an edit from his Wikimedia account or by mail from his registered Wikimedia account mail address, confirming that the photo he uploaded is his own work (i.e. that he's the photographer) and agreeing to publish it under license CC-BY-SA-4.0? And then you'd be ready to restore the photo ..? --Anti. (talk) 01:12, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If they are the photographer, yes they should contact OTRS. Jcb (talk) 08:50, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cedar City, Utah, LDS temple photo[edit]

Hi, my friend who took the picture I uploaded of the Cedar City LDS temple said that she emailed you as you requested in an email to me in order to give her consent for the picture to be used, but that she never heard back from you (other than an automated response saying the email had been received). I also wasn't notified that the picture was going to be deleted--I could have confirmed that she had reached out. Is it possible to undelete the photo since she has provided the appropriate consent?

Thanks.

Unfortunately she does not have the email any longer, and isn't interested in going through this whole process again, so unless there's an easy way to search through the emails you've received in the last two months for "Cedar City" to try to find her grant of permission, I guess we'll have to let it drop. Just to clarify I don't want those deleted it was just a general question,

Hello,

This source is obviously wrong, since Ioan Budaideleanu died in 1820:

  1. this is a photography (it did not exist in 1820)
  2. this guy has a facial hair which is not seen before 1850 (I guess it could be around 1880)

Moreover: see the history of the file:

  • Mcowkin, 1 septembre 2016 15:28
  • Mcowkin, 1 septembre 2016 19:05

Why do you think Mcowkin changed the file ? Because he thought the first one was better?

... and the winner is: Category:Georg Cantor !

Request for Undoing Deletion of Artist Mumbiram’s images

Dear Jcb Why have these images (see below) been deleted by you ? Could you kindly explain and undo the deletion after checking the information provided below. Artist Mumbiram, the copyright holder of all these images had sent his permission to use these images, which are either his own art works or photos he took himself of artworks of his grandfather artist and which are in his possession.

For each permission a ticket number has been given.

Mumbiram has sent the permission from his email address: mumbiram@yahoo.de or mumbiram_party@yahoo.com (both are mentioned on his website).

Each image has been published on Artist Mumbiram’s website, www.mumbiram.com

We include a link of each of the images on this website.

The permission has not yet been accepted. An OTRS agent responded to the ticket, but we did not hear back yet. Jcb (talk) 15:48, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

AOC files[edit]

1.5 days?[edit]

Hi Jcb, on my watchlist at en:wiki I saw the deletion of an image uploaded by a fresh student editor. He/she uploaded that photo just 1.5 days ago, and apparently the image had a missing license. Now I see it is already deleted because of that reason, or "Copyright violation" even, here. Did you contact that user to provide a license? I think 1.5 days is far too short for people to respond to such a question. I have written the uploader at en:wiki and asked to upload it again with a proper license this time, but hope the timespan for license requests will be extended for future uploads, especially for new users who need guidance, not deletion of their work. Cheers, Tisquesusa (talk) 03:34, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Forgetting to add a license is one thing, copying a file from a website where no free license is indicated is another. For missing license we normally grant 7 days after notification, but copyright violations get deleted right away. Jcb (talk) 11:52, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion without notification[edit]

Hi, you deleted both this and this file without any discussion. I am no commons expert, just an upload now and then, but I always try to meet all regulations to my best knowledge. As far as I know I stated the correct flickr-licences and wondering what I did wrong there. Please advise how to solve the issue. I still have the link to both pictures, their licenses there are, in my opinion, ok for Commons. If the license was stated incorrectly I am happy to correct it, but a speedy deletion is not at all comprehensible. Regards, Squasher (talk) 17:47, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't transfer files from Flickr to Commons if they have the Public Domain Mark license. This is not a valid license, actually it's not a license at all. Jcb (talk) 17:57, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, the details... Now I understand the problem with the license, thanks. But a short note on my disc page would have been quite nice. Wouldn't I have asked here, I would not have known the problem and surely made another faulty upload in the future. Regards, Squasher (talk) 18:27, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Dear Friend,
I would appreciate you returning the pictures of my works that were approved in Wikimedia Commons and for some reason you deleted them from the shelf of my name. All works you have deleted have been licensed by CC-BY-SA and authorized to be used as necessary. also My picture of environmental sculpture I created with students was also on a page of ecological art of Catalonia in Spain. Since you deleted it so it is no longer on their page. I would be very grateful if you would write me the email why you deleted the pictures.

Portrait of Heydrich by Heinrich Hoffmann[edit]

Hi Jcb, you have deleted an image of Reinhard Heydrich, that had been uploaded by the German Federal Archives in 2008[3] as part of a cooperation between Wikimedia Commons and the German Federal Archives. The picture had been taken by Heinrich Hoffmann. The copyright is owned by the German state. What was your rationale for deletion? Best regards, --Assayer (talk) 01:29, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There was an OTRS ticket about this image that was not resolved after 30 days. This results into deletion by default. I can mostly access such a ticket, but not in this case, so I can't tell anything about the ticket. Jcb (talk) 22:26, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
When you can't access the ticket, you shouldn't have deleted the image in the first place. especially in this case, where the box beneath the image says its part of the cooperation between wikipedia and the bundesarchiv. Norschweden (talk) 00:46, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You are mistaken. Accessing the ticket before deletion is a courtesy. Jcb (talk) 00:48, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And yet, you deleted a file, where you could have seen, by minimal research, that it shouldn't be deleted. Norschweden (talk) 00:52, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That's possible (although it was not indicated). Those files however also do not have source information for the base map. @Woudloper: The original uploader who is still around, do you remember where the base map comes from? Jcb (talk) 22:53, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Roy & Jcb,
Do you mean the grey outlines of the continents? I believe I took an atlas and made a very simplified copy of the coast lines in different maps: one for North America, one for Europe in this case.
By the by: nice to see my map got translated into Khmer. The PNG is very likely a copy of the original English map. It uses the same colours/outlines so I am 99.99% sure. Woudloper (talk) 14:12, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the answer, although it was not the answer I hoped for. This means you made a derivative work of a probably copyrighted map. Jcb (talk) 14:23, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Techcrunch[edit]

Hi, Could you stop taking unilateral decision (Commons:Deletion requests/Files found with "getty images" techcrunch)? I am going to restore this. There is no basic for deletion, and a consensus to keep them. Regards, Yann (talk) 09:17, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Don't threaten to wheelwar. Also you know very well that my conclusion in this case is backed up by several colleagues. E.g. @Josve05a: @Jameslwoodward: @Ytoyoda: You are especially notorious for unwarranted mass undeletions, you have done quite a lot of very dubious UDR closures recently and less recently. Please don't come here to accuse me of what is more like your modus operandi. Jcb (talk) 21:22, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You should play with the community, not against it. Several experienced admins are supported keeping these files with sound arguments. Why don't you ping them? Regards, Yann (talk) 05:27, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You are probably the most aggressive and abusive admin Commons has ever known after High Contrast. In the future, don't count on me if you need my support for anything. I am done with you. Jcb (talk) 12:17, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What agressivity is here? Only facts and a (still) friendly advice. But you should never have closed the previous undeletion requests, that was clearly against Commons rules. I hope this closes this case once and for all. And you still need to learn how to work with the community. Regards, Yann (talk) 04:05, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Again: I did not close those UDRs! Stop you false accusations. Jcb (talk) 12:48, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hooded Chameleon, Loryma callos, Egidio Turchi, and Lazar Gulkowitsch[edit]

Hi, you deleted four images I uploaded for three separate wiki-pages. All three images were leased under Creative Commons and one of them had an expired copyright. I was just wondering what right/information you had that I didn't, having made sure the images were not evoking copyright laws, to delete them? Don't treat this as hostile, I genuinely would like to know how you did what I could not so I can avoid copyright material in the future (Even though the images I uploaded weren't copyrighted). I am going to restore the images, because as far as I am concerned the rights use these images are genuine. Tinndalos (talk) 14:53, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

They were taken from the web with no evidence of permission. Jcb (talk) 21:28, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize but there was explicit permission in both the licensing and written permission directly to me. I doubt you would have access to my private correspondence to be able to know enough to delete the images, and other images had legal licencing rights attributed to them. I will be restoring the images. Tinndalos (talk) 15:43, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Permission from the authors must be sent to OTRS. We must have access to the permission before we can accept it. Don't reupload the files. Jcb (talk) 17:12, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In the case of the photograph of Lazar Gulkowitsch it might prove difficult to obtain OTRS permission. The photograph was probably taken in the 1920s, in Lituania, Königsberg or Leipzig. Gulkowitsch, his family, and the remaining thousand Jews in Estonia were killed in 1941. Though obtaining OTRS permission is not very likely, a copyright tag like {{PD-anon-70-EU}} is. File deleted by mistake[edit]

Hello Jcb,

I saw your info today that I shouldn't re-upload deleted content. Please notice that the picture I uploaded today was a different picture. Could it be due to the fact that I used the same name for the new file? Thank you and BR

--Salzburger Nockerl (talk) 21:36, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That's indeed asking for mistakes. First you upload a blatant copyright violation, taken from Facebook and then, shortly after deletion, you upload a picture that looks more or less the same under the exact same name. Jcb (talk) 21:44, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Jcb; I see that you are quite upset. Let me clear this out. I got the first picture from a guy, Mr. Hannes Köberl, I had contact with on facebook. We agreed that he will send a permission mail. That's why I also added the "permission pending" tag to the first picture when I uploaded it. I can send you a screenshot of the whole conversation if you want to see it. The picture did not get approved for quite some time, that's why I wrote a mail to OTRS to ask if the mail from Mr. Köberl has been received. You can check that too in OTRS. I also informed Mr. Köberl that his mail hasn't been received. Again, you can have the evidence from my facebook messenger if you need it. The file has been deleted in the meantime because Mr. Köberl didn't take action until now. The new picture from today is, as a matter of fact, a different picture and as you can see from the metadata it is not stolen from anywhere, it is a original picture. If you claim that this new picutre is stolen you have to prove it. Again, I can send you all the evidence if you need it. BR --Salzburger Nockerl (talk) 22:06, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
How can you 'see' that I would be 'quite upset'? Don't draw such conclusions if you are not even able to see the other person face to face. I undeleted the second upload and explaned how you caused the situation. For me that would be case closed. Jcb (talk) 22:12, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Jcb. I am sorry if I interpreted your reaction wrong. It is difficult for me to interpret people when texting so I guess I should stop doing that. Anyway, no hard feelings. Have a good evening. :-) BR --Salzburger Nockerl (talk) 22:18, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Renewed request for Undoing Deletion of Artist Mumbiram's images[edit]

Dear Jcb

We understand that even after an email of permission has been sent by the copyright holder and a ticket number is obtained, the OTRS license is not yet granted. Does that justify that the images are deleted ? We feel that either you should undo the deletion or let us undo the deletion. Here is our previous communication, which had initially included a list of all concerning files: --Kusum Bhagavat (talk) 07:06, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

<cut>

--Kusum Bhagavat (talk) 12:17, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The permission has not yet been accepted. An OTRS agent responded to the ticket, but we did not hear back yet. Jcb (talk) 15:48, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

--Kusum Bhagavat (talk) 07:06, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As long as we don't receive any response to our 10 August message, we won't do anything. The permission has not ben accepted by the involved OTRS agent. You are not allowed to reupload the file yourself either. Jcb (talk) 12:21, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

1. What is “our 10. August message“ ?

2. It has been my understanding that when I make a new wikipedia page I can use any images that I upload to wikicommons along with a letter of permission from the owner of the copyright holder of that image permitting free usage of that image with an OTRS licence. It has been my understanding that if I have obtained a ticket number in response to such a permission letter, the image can stay on the wikipedia page I am making till its OTRS licence is approved. If the OTRS licence is disapproved, then it can be and should be deleted. However an image with a valid ticket number should not be deleted, unless OTRS licence is clearly disapproved. All the images that we are talking about here are such images and therefore don't deserve to be deleted. --Kusum Bhagavat (talk) 11:41, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That's a misunderstanding. The automated message with a ticket number tells you that we received your message, nothing more. The permission was not (yet) valid and an OTRS agent sent a follow up message 10 August 2018. We did not hear back. The file was eligible for deletion 30 days after 10 August and can only be restored if the permission is accepted. Jcb (talk) 21:25, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I can't locate any message of 10 August from any OTRS agent. It must have gone to you but not to me. Was I supposed to get this message from the OTRS agent ? Was it in response to something you wrote ? Would you send me that message, please.

Artist Mumbiram got an email on 19 January 2019 from a Valeria Domínguez from permissions-commons regarding file: File:Photo of Artist Godbole's close friend Chitrakalacharya N.E.Puram.jpg Ticket#2018071510002138 A template was asked to be filled in for that image.

This particular image is the photo of the cover of a book that Artist Mumbiram's great grandfather wrote over 100 years ago. I have wrongly thought that the original artwork as well as its photo image was made by Artist Mumbiram. In reality the publisher of this latest edition of the book will have to be asked for the permission for the use of the image on Wikicommons.

Apart from that one image ALL OTHER images are photos made by Artist Mumbiram of artworks by Artist Mumbiram himself or of artworks made by his grandfather, the late S.H.Godbole. They have been given a permission by Artist Mumbiram himself, who owns the copyright for the images. Artist Mumbiram and I myself express our regrett for this laps on our part regarding this one image. We wonder if this laps was the reason you deleted the whole group of images for which Mumbiram had sent permission along with this one wrongfully claimed image. How do we undo this error on our part and restore our otherwise absolutely clean record ? Would we be allowed to reupload the images ? How do we make sure that all these other images get their OTRS licence approved and the images get undeleted without any prejudice.--Kusum Bhagavat (talk) 08:44, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have located the 19 January message. As far ar I can see, we did not receive any response to it either. You cannot reupload the files. You need to sort it out with OTRS instead. Jcb (talk) 20:44, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Files uploaded by AFeliks[edit]

H Hi Job, please delete my files here .. here are the reasons that you can take into account. if not, please help me, I received your request for strictly copyright in my file

I received a warning about deleting files due to their pdf format:

This was followed by a warning about deleting files due to their pdf format: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:New_4_stroke_engine_pdf.pdf That's why I put this file in this pdf format, because it's about being able to print it easily throughout the first major assumptions of this brand new engine. There are many mathematical formulas and mathematical calculations, which if they were normally presented in the wiki, could be mistaken for the order. Also, the engine phases should be arranged in such a sequence next to each other that they can be easily tracked. .. This is a description of a completely new, previously unknown engine, and will be printed from this file many times, which will be a simplification for the printers. It is a kind of simplification of the diploma theses on the subject of Cracow Uniwersity of Technology in 1979 and 2005 http://www.felixconsultings.com/music/leszek/PD_Andrzej%20Feliks.jpg http://www.new4stroke.com/gadula/motyka~1.htm At 1.1, the author writes that it is about my, Andrzej Feliks' engine ...

That's why I think that this format will be a great help, giving some very basic messages in one place.

in turn when it comes to this file https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Hafrotatete_engine_history_pdf.pdf It is also about the possibility of easy printing, and in a similar order, including also with Mathematical formulas. this story. From the psychological point of view, it shows the next mental steps that lead to a completely new discovery. And the order here is of fundamental importance for understanding this thinking process.

Therefore, I think that this file should remain in the Pdf format, especially that its internal images are already properly licensed thanks to your help

I have reviewed your suggested materials .. Maybe I could give something to you, but I do not know how it would be with printing. You would have to experiment for a long time ... The worst thing is that I have had big problems in 3 years, because I got sick, from the fear, Miastemia Gravis. and it is troublesome because I have double vision, which results in great difficulties in writing and reading texts ..https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myasthenia_gravis

These are my texts, from old times ... it's still one, as I was in Detroit at motor show, with lectures about my engine ... then I was healthy. I am sending such a pdf, from the abbreviation of the lecture, at this conference. . https://www.ukintpress-conferences.com/uploads/SPEXNA14/Day1_10_Andrzej_Feliks.pdf?fbclid=IwAR3-jIF71CKd20KChYToJkSApiewg-6KHbdaphwFewngMchCuF5y-YGnzFI

I still have a lot of work, and I try to use periods when I have something to do .. Well, for example, I would like to do wikipedia like Andrew Feliks and not as User Andrzej Feliks .. and I do not know how to do it. what template to use, and is it enough to copy and paste the text there? I would not like any trouble with her ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Andrew_Feliks maybe you know how it would be best to do it ... in any case, he's designing for your help so far. Best regards Andrew Feliks Andrew Feliks (talk) 14:20, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, but it's unclear to me what exactly you are requesting and why you are doing so at my personal user talk page. Jcb (talk) 21:34, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can u please wait some minuts before deleting the articles. I did made meny errors by creating categories but it is understandable since I have spent all day trying to fix the categories that belong to Tirana. Hi,

Could you undelete the file: File:Maciej Zaborowski, lawyer.jpg. The proper agreement regarding this file has just arrived on OTRS: ticket:2018062910007154 Polimerek (talk) 22:09, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Polimerek: ✓ Done - please process the ticket - Jcb (talk) 22:29, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ASK images[edit]

Dear JCB, what was the reason for deleting File:ASK eV Stander.jpg and File:ASK eV Logo.png? On the license side, I see no difference to, e.g., File:World_Sailing_logo.svg, where it seems sufficient to give a source URL? --Quasiteilchen (talk) 17:23, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The deleted files are way more complex than the World Sailing logo. Please see COM:TOO. Jcb (talk) 21:10, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You deleted the file. I contacted the author of this photo and he confirmed that he is the author and published under CC 2.0. Original photo on flickr.

Restore the photo, please. --Alkanchik (talk) 20:16, 23 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done - I see that they corrected the license at Flickr, so that the automated review should pass now. Jcb (talk) 00:00, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS user asking about your deletion[edit]

ticket:2019022310005814's got someone asking about an image you deleted. They claim it's public domain and they updated the licensing info, but I can't see the deleted image—can you take a look? Thanks. Gaelan (talk) 00:50, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The ticket is not in a queue that I can access. Can you move it to a permissions queue or to 'sister projects --> Commons'? Jcb (talk) 01:03, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jcb: moved. Gaelan (talk) 01:15, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done - Jcb (talk) 01:37, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Closure[edit]

I wrote my comments and got an edit conflict which I resolved. Only then did I see you had closed it. I don't know how you want to deal with that. At the very least I would like the comment that it was not my block log and the three lines listing Yann's contribution to my log kept. Otherwise it is not an accurate version of events and I am denied the right to correct the facts. -- Colin (talk) 12:30, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed some bits that are no longer relevant since it is closed. But kept the fact-correction bit, which I strongly think is vital and permitted. -- Colin (talk) 12:34, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am not going to revert your edits, I propose to keep the discussion as it is now. Edit conflicts happen and it won't have changed my closure anyway. Jcb (talk) 12:36, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request to stop offensive marking the uploads[edit]

Jcb, your recent actions against my uploaded >35.000 files have certain signs of misuse the position/responsibility. Kindly ask you to stop your activity. Please let me suggest to initiate the discussion and to agree about the plan of actions. Thank you. Grybukas (talk) 14:46, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Keep the discussion at your talk page, thanks in advance. Jcb (talk) 14:47, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jcb: Thank you very much for your colaboration and assistance while removing the inconsistences of my work. Grybukas (talk) 21:07, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome. Jcb (talk) 22:09, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Undelete[edit]

Please undelete

The permission is on the website. Did you actually look at it? —Justin (koavf)TCM 20:38, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

See http://www.realtimerendering.com/blog/an-introduction-to-ray-tracing-is-now-free-for-download/:
Update: Andrew was asked what sort of license the book is under. We discussed it and he chose the Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, the most liberal of the CC licenses.
Why does this keep happening? —Justin (koavf)TCM 20:42, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't find the message at the blog convincing. You were already told in the ticket that we don't accept forwarded permissions, the message at the blog is even worse. Please make sure that the author contacts us directly at OTRS as requested. Jcb (talk) 20:52, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What? Someone can post on his own website "The following content is CC BY". That is totally valid. Why are you not restoring these files? —Justin (koavf)TCM 23:28, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
OTRS tickets aren't required at all. Why are you demanding that it be completed here? There is nothing illegitimate about someone posting his own content and saying "This is CC BY 4.0". —Justin (koavf)TCM 04:13, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Could you undelete the file: File:ROBiA logo.jpg ? The proper agreement has just arrived on OTRS ticket:2019022510005847. Cheers, Polimerek (talk) 19:58, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done - the user started uploading new copyright violations, which I flushed. I overlooked the ticket for this one. As far as I can see this was the only file with a ticket. Jcb (talk) 21:29, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I am in contact with him via OTRS trying to explain what was wrong with his uploads. Polimerek (talk) 21:11, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm the uploader of the file above which you recently deleted. The owner of the copyright for the photo says that they received no response from Wikimedia regarding the OTRS email that they sent (I noticed that the file page later showed the email sent was insufficient). Should another email be sent or is there something else they need to do to get the file put back up? Davykamanzitalk · contribs 16:39, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can see we did not receive anything from the photographer. Did they receive an autoresponse with a ticket number? Jcb (talk) 16:59, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I'm aware there was no response of any kind. Davykamanzitalk · contribs 19:40, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Yet another file to undelete: File:CKK Sala Konferencyjna.jpg. Ticket:2019022510003232. Thanks for your patience... Polimerek (talk) 21:16, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Polimerek: ✓ Done - please process the ticket - Jcb (talk) 22:11, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted file: File:Monochrom Eignblunzn (2003), documentation.jpg[edit]

Why did you delete this file? As member of the art group monochrom who created this work I hold the copyright for this image and I gladly release it under CC 4.0. Please see my user page. My identity has already been conformed their via OTRS. Grenz (talk) 23:43, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jcb, Could you restore the image above please as this is the editors image, It was agreed that Grenz would add something to the source bit saying it was theirs (I've completely forgot what it was) but anyway the image shouldn't of been otrs-tagged, Many thanks, –Davey2010Talk 11:33, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd: What do you think? Jcb (talk) 17:20, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Jcb - Not to be disrespectful but you're the one who's deleted it so I don't quite know why you're asking them?, If it helps the discussion was here, It was agreed that Grenz adds "|source={{own}}, link [http://monochrom.at/press/fotos.htm]" to his files which he had done, for his recent ones he hasn't for some reason but as far as I know the one above did have that following text, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:35, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There has been received an OTRS ticket for this file, but it's too expansive to be read in a minute. I suggest to user stays patient until the ticket is processed. --Krd 18:37, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Krd - Please see the above reply - If OTRS has been contacted then this file should've remiained up until someone can deal with the OTRS stuff ..... The file is clearly his and given my reply above he's made every effort to cooperate thus far so deleting it is not a wise move, Again could we have this undeleted as either way it's going to be undeleted anyway, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:43, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I just saw that File:Monochrom--Kreativlaufhaus-2015.jpg also got deleted. Same case for this file. Backstory: I only filed OTRSs for those files because another user flagged many of my files as 'no permission', which was a mistake. User:Davey2010 knows the story, he dealt with it. Oh boy, this is a neverending story :-) Grenz (talk) 11:34, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Another file that should be restored but apparently everyone's clueless as what to do right now, It's easy:
> Restore the file > Wait for someone to check the OTRS > When they check it they'll add the OTRS ticket to the file and the file would be kept,
This is absolutely ridiculous that we're all waiting for file restoration ..... Given the other files have ALL been sent to OTRS and are fine one questions why on earth these wouldnt be, Can someone please restore the files as they are clearly and blindingly Grenz!, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:04, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I see no justification to overturn Krd in this case. Jcb (talk) 16:07, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Jcb you were the one who deleted both files[4][5] not Krd .... If Krd asked you to jump off a cliff would you ? ... No ofcourse you wouldn't,
Not to make dramah but you deleted the file whilst OTRS is still pending ... therefore the file should be undeleted untill OTRS is completed,
Had Grenz not gone to OTRS then fine I could understand but as they have gone there there is absolutely no reason and no justification for deleting the files. –Davey2010Talk 16:16, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I followed the process correctly. A file with incomplete OTRS gets deleted 30 days after our first response. We have been doing that for at least over a decade. The ticket owner requested to stay patient until the ticket is processed. There is nothing more I can do at this stage. Jcb (talk) 16:30, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I'm so sorry, OTRS does indeed state "Each ticket will be reviewed by a volunteer. If there is sufficient evidence of a valid permission, the volunteer will mark the file(s) concerned as reviewed. The volunteer will also act to restore any files which may have been deleted before the permission could be verified, so when following the procedure described here, there is no need to request undeletion." (emphasis mine),
Please accept my sincere apologies I assumed OTRS files had to remain but apparently not,
I certainly don't agree with it but you're essentially only doing your job so it's not your fault,
Given I've worked hard in helping this editor and trying keep their files on this project as you can probably imagine the last thing I want is their files deleted especially when I've once already removed the OTRS crap from their images,
The image is going to be undeleted anyway so I don't see the point in you keeping it deleted,
If you check their userpage you will see Grenz's real name is "Johannes Grenzfurthner" - Searching their name on Google gives you their Wikipedia article where it clearly states they're "founder, conceiver and artistic director of monochrom" which is what these images relate too ..... The evidence that Grenz is this person is blindingly obvious so IMHO in this case it's silly to keep the files deleted because they will be undeleted .... I could understand if there was doubt but in this specific case there's no doubt at all,
But again you're following COM:OTRS by the letter which is a shame (because common sense should override that),
Again I sincerely apologise for getting irate with you - my heart has been in helping Grenz the best I can and I want them to stick around to upload instead of giving up. –Davey2010Talk 19:03, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, folks! I can wait if necessary. Let me know if I can be of additional assistance. As mentioned before, I can easily provide proof that I hold the copyright for both images and can relase them under CC 4.0. Grenz (talk) 09:43, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
