Hi Jarekt, here I tested the code for the proposal at #Maintenance cat. Would you be so kind and copy it to Template:Information? -- User:Docu at 15:13, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In the meantime, there are additional comments at #Maintenance cat. Not sure what to make of it. -- User:Docu at 05:48, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Docu, I will try to look into it, see and test what you proposed, but I have to tell you that I prefer to deal with one controversy at the time, and my apparently controversial categorization of Bundesarchive images (see vandalism) which also is related to role of autocategorization at Commons. So lets see how that one plays out. --Jarekt (talk) 20:31, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. BTW don't take offense that it was debated on COM:AN/V, a bad choice of forum, I agree. -- User:Docu at 03:36, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

stop your bot[edit]

You know what you are doing with the bundesarchiv files ist stupid if you want to categorize these pictures again than turn that cats on in the template. --Cwbm (commons) (talk) 09:50, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

I agree that the template approach would be much easier but there is always a lot of opposition to autocategories and the last set of by year categories was dismantled. --Jarekt (talk) 14:29, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Zdjęcia i profil[edit]

Cześć. Mam do Ciebie pytanie. Pozdrawiam. Piotr Kononowicz (talk) 14:26, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Witam, Zauważyłem ze poprosiłes o skasowanie twoich zdjec uzywajac proces DR Commons:Deletion requests/File:HieronimDekutowski2.JPG, itp. To dobrze, kasowanie plików powinno byc udokumentowane. --Jarekt (talk) 21:06, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have seen that you added to Category:William James. The link to the article "William James (photographer)" in the Enlish wikipedia does not exist, the comment "One of James’ two sons, William Horace or Norman, may have taken the photograph." is not relevant here. I suggest to replace the template by the line "William James (Walsall, 1866 - Toronto, 1948) was a Canadian photograph". Regards, Wouter (talk) 12:40, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good suggestion. I made Category:William James into disambiguation page. Thanks --Jarekt (talk) 14:59, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RegionAdjective[edit]

Hello, I saw you included Fenician in RegionAdjective. What country do you mean by that? Did you mean Phoenicia? Regards, Vincent Steenberg (talk) 22:18, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes that is what I meant--Jarekt (talk) 04:48, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

re: Missing images[edit]

Thank you for your post. I have no idea about what happened (I am no Internet nerd...), but generally when this happens to my pages, this is the result of a genius-generated bot fiddling with my uploads and screwing everything up.

At some time, the images did exist, since in this page Catalogue_of_Giacomo_Brogi's_pictures#3000-3299_-_Florence there are the corresponding miniatures. Since I update this page by hand, adding images one by one, I immediately realize when an image does not show up after my upload (it does happen, with Commonist). However, I do not know why it disappeared thereafter, sorry.

I cannot reupload the images since I delete all scans from my computer after uploading them to Commons, otherwise my hard-disk would be jammed. If these images cannot be restored, then let's delete the pages. Soon or late someone else will reupload them. But if would be great if we could tell some day a word or two to the owners of those f****** bots screwing up everything... :-/ Best wishes --User:G.dallorto (talk) 21:45, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell a 99% of bots do not have any powers above normal users and normal users can not delete images without deleting their pages, however they can create pages without uploading images. It is hard to tell what happen and if you do not have those images I will follow your suggestion and delete their empty pages, and thanks for your truly amazing contributions. Best wishes --Jarekt (talk) 21:58, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Overcategorization[edit]

It's not a big deal (I don't think) but I just wanted to let you know, your bot has been adding parent categories to paintings, e.g. [1] (The Harvesters is already in Paintings by Pieter Brueghel the Elder). Rocket000 (talk) 22:42, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All I am doing is moving images from automatically added (by the creator template) categories like Pieter Brueghel the Elder to more specific non-automatic categories like Paintings by Pieter Brueghel the Elder, at the same time as I am removing autocategorization from the creator page. (See User:Jarekt/CreatorTemplates for some of the creator categories I reorganized.) I am finding that some images were already overcategorized by using creator page autocategorizing to Pieter Brueghel the Elder and adding categories like The Harvesters. If I notice that I try to correct it, but I am sure that I miss many. I find it rather ironic that I run into those problems especially since I created File:Over-categorization.svg graphics in order to explain evils of overcategorization. See User:Jarekt/CreatorTemplates for some of the creator categories I reorganized. --Jarekt (talk) 01:27, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, then don't worry about it. It's not your fault. I figured it was somehow related to your work with the creator templates. Cheers, Rocket000 (talk) 03:56, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Remove pictures[edit]

Yes, paintings of Francisc Şirato and paintings of Gheorghe Petraşcu should be removed. Mvelam (talk) 14:15, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Creator[edit]

Hi, there is an extra "}} -->" in the Template:Creator. Would you please remove this. Thanks! --Ephraim33 (talk) 20:22, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

THANKS, I think I fixed it now. --Jarekt (talk) 20:30, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hoi Jarekt, did you note this category already existed when you created Category:Edward Curtis? Dunno which one is better … just to let you know and (probably) fix it yourself ;-) --:bdk: 05:01, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know I did not notice the extra categories inside the template. I will clean it up. --Jarekt (talk) 05:13, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks :-) --:bdk: 14:52, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am not done yet. I will try to get rid of Template:EdwardCurtis and use regular Information template with a license which is not added by a template. So stay tuned. --Jarekt (talk) 15:19, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jest "Nie można zapisać notatkę (lub edytować konfliktu inny problem). ImageAnnotator at en-WP[edit]

I have installed it there so people over there can evaluate it. See en:Help:Gadget-ImageAnnotator. Let's see how it goes... Lupo 11:30, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lupo, I think we should disable inline annotations in your code this time around and focus on file namespace annotations and local annotations (using ImageWithNotes. Let's have discussion about inline annotations after ImageAnnotator becomes a gadget. --Jarekt (talk) 15:09, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
They're visible only on user subpages for the time being, and only for images stored locally at en-WP. I left them enabled for these cases because otherwise, people will start plastering ImageWithNotes all over, even in cases where it wouldn't be necessary because the standard inline display might already do what they wanted. Also, I want people to see what it does now, so they can evaluate it and know what they're talking about. If I disable too many features up front, people might, maybe without knowing it, decide on a way too restrictive setting. If they come to the conclusion that they really don't want this and would rather use ImageWithNotes wherever they wanted inline notes, I will, of course, adapt the configuration. (I can't imagine them to really want to use ImageWithNotes in articles either: they'd get the "add a note" button right there in the article. Well, maybe with a transclusion scheme as we do at COM:FPC. But ImageWithNotes is not intended for thumbnails...) Lupo 15:24, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Witaj!

Nazwa, którą tu zaproponowałem to masło maślane.

Proszę, zaproponuj lepszy tytuł i kategorie nadrzędne. Nadajesz się. Pozdr. --Starscream (talk) 13:16, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Niestety, nie ma, sprawdziłem to już wcześniej. Przy czym nie liczyłbym na to, że była, lecz została przemianowana. First quick sorting people by name done[edit]

Hello, the items at User:Jarekt/a under the first rubrique DEFAULTSORT:name1 name2 are ready for your bot to run, may-be those under de second rubrique as well, the third rubique needs further sorting. I will do a quick sorting on the two other pages as well. You may express wishes or suggestions here. Greetings. --Havang(nl) (talk) 16:36, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for help. I added DEFAULTSORT to all categories in DEFAULTSORT:name1 name2 group. --Jarekt (talk) 04:54, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
First rubrique User:Jarekt/b User:Jarekt/c User:Jarekt/d done too, including also single-name items. I cannot garantee the correctness of all, notably Madame de... Infante..., Emperor... But wikipedians adapt fairly if they find mistakes. I also did further work on User:Jarekt/a, you can see what you may run. Greetings --Havang(nl) (talk) 11:40, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Runned too quickly / progress sorting[edit]

 • Sorry, jarekt, I made you run the whole page c too quickly, but I hadn't done page c so far....I hadn't introduced the chapter Not yet sorted. I restored the part which hadn't been done and correct things manually from that page c list.
 • I see that in <<DEFAULTSORT:name2, name1>> name 2 stands for the last word, I'll further sort pages a, b, d accordingly.
 • Starting from your lists, special defaultsorts can as well be added directly manually to the category instead of adding in the lists. --Havang(nl) (talk) 09:47, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You may run on pages a, b and d the sections Use and Use , I gave those a control check. After that, there remain about 800 items to do. Category:People by name looks very improved already. --Havang(nl) (talk) 20:53, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about page c I should have noticed that. If you want we can correct Categories we got wrong. The sort (name2, name1) is to some degree mysterious to me.
 • name1 name2 -> name2, name1
 • name1 name2 name3 -> name3, name1 name2
 • name1 name2 the elder -> elder, name1 name2 the (should be name2, name1, the elder?)===>
 • name1 name2 d. J. -> J., name1 name2 d. (should be name2, name1, d. J.?)
and I think it can handle some parenthesis and dates. I think many special defaultsorts would be handled correctly by this approach, but I can run those in the manual mode (when I watch every edit). I will run pages a, b and d again. --Jarekt (talk) 02:52, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
 • I started understanding your bot a bit and I selected as follows: All what is under <<DEFAULTSORT:name2, name1>> must be sorted under the LAST WORD of the multiple name,e.g: Category:Adolf Otto Reinhold Windaus ==> Windaus, Otto Reinhold.
 • Page c: What is left on c has still to be checked. I checked manually all other items on c and corrected if needed .

'*Ambiguities like the elder are unimportant as long as it sorts at the right sortname, e.g.: Category:Count Wirich Philipp von Daun => Daun, Count Wirich Philipp von (or:) Daun, Wirch Philipp von (or even:) Daun, von, Wirich Philipp, those are all sorting at Daun and therefore acceptable. You know best how you may improve your bot and what items remain to be done manually.

Suggestion for bot[edit]

Hello, you are removing catsorts which have the same name as the defaultsort. But often catsorts use only one word. Can yoyr bot be adapted to remove also those single-name catsorts, see e.g. history of Category:Juan Bautista Topete, where I removed < |Topete > manually after your bot had run? --Havang(nl) (talk) 10:46, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking about that but decided on more conservative and hopefully safer approach. I would have to remove all category specific sortkeys, but there are cases where one might want to use different sortkey for different parent categories. --Jarekt (talk) 12:40, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain...[edit]

Can I ask how Jarektbot decides when to Europeanize individuals' defaultsort?

Today the bot Europeanized Zainalbidin Merozhev.

Most people with Arabic names, or names that follow the Arabic style, should not have their names Europeanized, because they do not follow the European practice of inheriting a last name that is also a surname. Their father's personal name becomes their last name. So each generation in a family has a different last name, and individuals of the same generation will have different last anmes from their cousins.

I worked on the wikipedia articles on the Guantanamo captives. Almost none of them should be shoehorned into the European style.

Some people with Arabic style names, who we know in the West, have voluntarily Europeanized their names, or appear to have Europeanized their names, becaues they imigrated to an English speaking nation. But they are exceptions, and most Arab speaking individuals don't have inherited surnames. Neither, I found, do most Pashtun speakers.

For Persian and Turkic speaking individuals I don't know when it is appropriate for their names to be Europeanized. Some Persian and Turkic speaking Afghans seem to follow the no-surname style of their neighboring Pashtuns. So, even if Iranians generally used a Europeanized inherited last-name/surname, I don't think we can clearly know whether they bear a Europeanized survname. Similarly for individuals born in the former Soviet Union, which may have forced individuals to Europeanize their children's names.

For Zainalbidin Merozhev I don't think the situation is clear. As such, IMO, his name should start sorting at the first letter, and proceed, in order, to the last letter.

Over on the English language wikipedia I came to the conclusion that bots probably simply can't be programmed to know when to Europeanize individuals' names with enough reliability. I am afraid lots of our human volunteers can't be relied upon to know that not all names should be Europeanized. I came to the conclusion that it would be best if ever single decision on Europeanizing names was made by a well-informed human being.

IMO the Europeanized name should be regarded as a speacial case. 80-90 percent of the individuals we have information on may use a Europeanized inherited last-name/surname. But, the decision to treat European-sorting as the "default", over on the English-language wikipedia, has made the burden of dealing with the remaining 10-20 percent such a great burden that it seems to me it would have been far better if we regarded naive sorting, starting at the very first letter, and proceeding directly to the last, as the default.

Several years ago a bot, called Kingbotk, added Europeanized "listas" fields to a lot of biography templates over on the English language wikipedia. The seriousness of this mistake didn't become apparent for several years, as that listas field remained unused. Then, after a gap of a year or more, someone wrote a bot, called defaultsortbot, which assumed all listas fields were reliable, and inserted a defaultsort template onto all the articles where that poisoned listas field had been sitting.

Addressing the problems caused by the Kingbotk bot has consumed over a hundred hours of my time.

The author of Kingbotk went on to join the teams that developed robot assisted editing tools, like AWB and twinkle. And code that suggested Europeanization of the sort order of indivudals names made its way into some versions of some robot assisted editing tools.

So, can I ask how Jarektbot decides when to Europeanize individuals' defaultsort?

Cheers! Geo Swan (talk) 14:47, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

JarekBot adds DEFAULTSORT to categories which do not have it, it does not change any existing sortkeys. See discussion Commons:Village_pump#Asked:_bot_for_DEFAULTSORT here and above for details. But the short answer is that there is a group effort to decide which style of a sortkey to use for which name. We advertise for larger involvement but so far most of the work is done by User:Havang(nl). Jarektbot adds sortkeys decided by the group. We are aware of the sort order used by Arabic names and try to do it correctly. If we missed something please correct or even better help decide which sort to use with which name for the remaining categories. Cheers --Jarekt (talk) 16:12, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

In this diff, you changed Category:Warsaw Uprising photos from August into Category:Warsaw Uprising photos from October. Are you sure the date is October 1944 ? Teofilo (talk) 08:34, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The neighborhood where the image was taken did not surrendered until the end of the Warsaw Uprising, which was in October not August. BTW a lot of original Bundesarchiv image descriptions from Warsaw uprising are quite inaccurate or plainly wrong. See for example File:Bundesarchiv Bild 101I-695-0403-37, Warschauer Aufstand, Soldaten bei Rast.jpg. --Jarekt (talk) 12:55, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you have not already done this and if you have enough time to do so, you may fill a report about this problem at Commons:Bundesarchiv/Error_reports so that they correct the dates on their own website. Teofilo (talk) 13:52, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I filed a few of those, but I do not remember if I filed about those specific ones. --Jarekt (talk) 13:57, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
 • I have changed 1944-10/3-5 into between. Is it OK for you ?
 • You wrote "(according to MWP)". What is the meaning of "MWP" ? Could you develop this acronym or provide an internet link please ?

Teofilo (talk) 08:51, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MPW stands for Muzeum Powstania Warszawskiego. Unfortunately it is impossible to link to their internal pages, due to temporary links. Any changes to the date format is fine with me. I was working with those images before templates like Other date was created. --Jarekt (talk) 12:41, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Teofilo (talk) 13:54, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

I heard that Commons has free images, but there is the issue about 'attribution'. If i'd use Commons photos to write a book, then what i must do to respect your rules? Declaring they came frome Wikimedia commons, author, license? I am not a native english speaker, so i would have some simple answer (i don't understand very well the license rules). If i find a CC-by-SA, or a GNU, what must i do? regs--Mach2pilot (talk) 13:33, 25 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, Simple answers are:
 • Any image with "Public domain" license you can use without attribution
 • Any image with CC-by-SA or (CC-by-SA and GNU) You should mention in the image caption the author and the license name
 • Any image with GNU license only is hard to comply with the license and you might want to avoid them.
With any the images mention of Wikimedia commons would be nice, but not required except for CC-by-SA licenses if the author asks for it. You might also want to find versions of the licenses of the images you are planning on using in your language. Whatever your language is the license was probably translated into it. --Jarekt (talk) 12:38, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, tnx for the answer. About PD there are no problems, about GNU no, because i don't use them; about the CC-by-SA, i'd prefer (instead to write a caption for every photo) to write a paragraph (in bibliography section), in which i'd explain every photo CC with author and license used. Just to simplify the stuff, just like the references i mean.

'Photos: they came from wikimedia commons: on page x (author xxxx, license ccc.3); on page x2 (author xxxyx license ccc.2) etc.' I'd argue it would be enough, just placed in a nicer way.--Mach2pilot (talk) 19:43, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think that would be probably fine. --Jarekt (talk) 20:30, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Creator template[edit]

Auto-linking in the creator template can be problematic. At least Creator:Max Weber links to the wrong Max Weber. What can be done about this? Lupo 09:44, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Move Creator:Max Weber? -- User:Docu at 09:46, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In this specific case we should create disambiguation page out of Category:Max Weber and separate its content into 2 categories. I can imagine there could be more creator pages with similar problems and they should be fixed individually. Also adding explicit links to Creator pages prevents them from using auto-link feature and is encouraged in the documentation. --Jarekt (talk) 11:20, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Jarekt, the problem so far is not the categorization (or maybe it also is, but it isn't what I wrote about). The name of the creator in Creator:Max Weber links to the wrong gallery page. Lupo 13:45, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I added explicit link to the en wiki to fix it. --Jarekt (talk) 13:49, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jarekt, can you for the person-categories in Category:Sculptors from the Netherlands add by bot the Category:People by name and than run your defaultsort bot over that category (about 990 in total)? Similar for Category:Painters from the Netherlands (about 370 in total). Maybe you find a method to do it for all person-categories within Category:Artists from the Netherlands. For dutch names, the defaultsort is normally by last name. Greetings, --Havang(nl) (talk) 09:55, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I did not managed to finish it last night but I captured all the categories under Category:People of the Netherlands by occupation removed things which were not obviously people names and than checked them for existence of "Defaultsort" and "People by name".
 1. List User:Jarekt/a#No_Default_sort contains directories which are most likely for people which have no "Defaultsort". Any directory which is not for a person should be removed from there.
 2. List User:Jarekt/a#No_People_by_name contains directories which are most likely for people which have no Category:People by name. Any directory which is not for a person, and Category:People by name should not be added should be removed from there.
I already went few times through those lists but more checking could be useful, especially for single word names which are likely city names. --Jarekt (talk) 11:18, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'll do the checking, removing no-person cats, indicating unusual defaultsorts. --Havang(nl) (talk) 17:26, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That would be a great help. I am not as familiar with Dutch names and city names to quickly separate them. --Jarekt (talk) 18:02, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done for the first series A-Z; is this sufficient, or do I have to do the split series (no defaultsort) and (no people by name) as well? --Havang(nl) (talk) 21:11, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, You do not need to do the other 2 lists. I will take it from here, but it will take me a few days because I am traveling at the moment. --Jarekt (talk) 03:37, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OKE, thanks. (I am abroad all juin.) --Havang(nl) (talk) 09:16, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
All ✓ Done. Thanks. Is it possible to make a list of those Dutch people by name categories who have not yet a category year of birth, ex. Category:1950 births? If so, you may put such a list at User:Havang(nl)/list 2 but no hurry, I am absent till the first of july. --Havang(nl) (talk) 17:15, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I will produce such a list --Jarekt (talk) 18:00, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Havang(nl) if you are cleaning up those categories you might also keep an eye on artists with a lot of works which do not use creator templates, especially if they are using PD-old. I have scripts for adding creator templates to files if correct creator templates exist. --Jarekt (talk) 19:00, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I missed this message 2 june, see it only now. A-E is done, see original list 2. From F on. I'll mark these inUser:Havang(nl)/list 2. --Havang(nl) (talk) 18:39, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Does this function for you? As soon as you have done a few, you may delete them from the list. --Havang(nl) (talk) 19:14, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
To run my script I would need a category with existing creator page and files with fields like "author=John Doe" or "author=John Doe (1900-1990)", or many other options which I then change to "author=". I run this script once on all the PD-old files but many creator pages were added since. --Jarekt (talk) 19:24, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Somewhat like this one? # Category:Floris Verster and page Floris Verster and a subcategory as well. In that case it's simpler to check visually categories like Category:Sculptors from the Netherlands and pick those who have page, subcats and/or more than say 10 files. Shall I stop or continue looking for some during working om my list? --Havang(nl) (talk) 20:13, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No It would be like Category:Charles Graham with its Creator:Charles Graham 7 files in the directory and Creator:Charles Graham used only with one of them. But I would not worry much about it I will run my bot on all the files in Category:Painters by country and Category:Photographers by country and catch them all. --Jarekt (talk) 20:21, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

BNF files[edit]

Hello, About the use of a bot, see User talk:Multichill#Creator pages. Multichill didn't answer, so if you can do it, it would be great. Regards, Yann (talk) 10:10, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yann, my bot is based on AutoWikiBrowser and is quite limited in what it can do. I do not think I will be able to do any of the tasks you asked Multichill to do, beyond "creating the category for each author when it doesn't exist" and those will still have to be checked. By the way, I think you were asking why birth/death categories are not automatically added to some categories by creator template, while they are added to others. Category:Henri d'Arbois de Jubainville was an example of a category where it was not added. The reason is that due to known bugs with the software the test {{#ifeq:PAGENAME | {} | true | false }} incorrectly is false if page name contains an apostrophe ('). Also ideally creator pages would have a link to some wikipedia page related to the author. --Jarekt (talk) 14:47, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:German plane bombing Warsaw 1939.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

chinese creators[edit]

Hello Jarekt, I tried a Template:Chinese creator. The template could clearly be better, but I think that given that names in Chinese can be a bit intricated, I think that to have a standard template is the best way to organise them in a standard fashion, what do you think ? (Implementation here)

I think it is fine and quite needed. I would call it Chinese, since it could be used for any word. We might try to make it compatible with en:Template:Zh and similar templates on other wikis. --Jarekt (talk) 16:04, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, actually it may even not be really adapted for creator boxes. As I wrote here, given that an ancient Chinese can have quite a few names, it's probably better to have smaller templates inside infoboxes, not notifiying each time that we used pinyin or traditional Chinese. Otherwise, if we put all parameters for each name we get:

Template:Chinese

Template:Courtesy name

peudonym
Template:Chinese

So for creator template, it would probably better to limit to (even if it means quite commons spelling like Li Po in this case):
surname and name: Li Bai (李白)
Template:Courtesy name: Tai Bai (太白)
peudonym: Qīnglián Jūshì (青莲居士/青蓮居士)

I am not sure what the best solution is partially because I do not know all the nuances of Chinese names. I think the optimal solution will have the following properties:

 1. Creator name and the category name should correspond to the name most often used in the English literature, likely the name of the article in the en wiki. If some creator pages or categories need to be renamed that would be fine.
 2. names used in the name field of the creator template should use notation with at least en and zh but could have more.
 3. Alternatively names used in the name field of the creator template could use Li Bai ([:zh:李白|李白]]) but I think the other one is better
 4. names used in Alternative names field should have many variations of the name that someone might use to search for it in different countries. If the list gets too long we can also create a gallery with something resembling en:Template:Chinese. The gallery should probably have a link to the creator template.

The optimal goal is to allow users from different countries to find the person if they search for him and to provide each file using the creator template names which will be familiar and links which are useful to people from different countries. All this without making the creator pages so big that they are hard to read. Finally all this should be applied uniformly to all Chinese creator pages. --Jarekt (talk) 21:38, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

By the way It would be easier to read our exchange if you sign your messages and give people hint at what languages you most familiar with at User:Zolo. Best --Jarekt (talk) 21:46, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Sorry, I keep forgetting to sign my messages.
Tthe combination family name-given name is by far the most common way to refer to someone in Western languages. This is true in Chinese as well, but to a lesser extent.
For romanisation method, pinyin has become the norm in all Western languages that I know of, except to refer to Taiwanese places and people. And even for them, it may change, as I read in Wikipedia that Taiwan has adopted pinyin.
In English, except for Taiwanese things, I think other romanisation methods have virtually fallen into disuse ("Confucius" is an exception, but it is a traditional spelling and it doesn't follow any systematic romanisation method). In French and certainly in some other languages, a few scholars still use Wade-Giles.
The trouble with putting Wade-Giles is that if we put it for the common name, would seem logical to put it also for the courtesy name and other alternative names as well. That would take up much space. Besides, it is not to difficuly to know the pinyin when we only have the Wade-Giles. So what I would suggest is to put only pinyin and Chinese characters in the alternative name field and to create the Wade-Giles as a redirect.
For the name field, your solution seems fine to me (with pinyin on the English version).--Zolo (talk) 11:56, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good, but as I said I do not know much about nuances of Chinese names and can not tell Wade-Giles from pinyin. In case of doubt between different spellings I usually go with EN wiki or count number of Google hits for each spelling and choose the more common one. You might want to write something up and check it with some Chinese admins or active users. Also I would let other people know at Template talk:Creator. --Jarekt (talk) 12:39, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
user:Fanghong approved the idea, I left a message on the talk page of tl creator. (note: For mainland Chinese, the pyinyin name is almost always the one given in the article title, when it is not, it should be indicated quite clearly in the header.)--Zolo (talk) 12:02, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jarekt/Archiv!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Creator related Cat move[edit]

Hello Jarekt, did you have a good holiday? There is a long-standing catmove request for Category:Abram Jefimowitsch Archipow but there is also the Creator:Abram Jefimowitsch Archipow page. In case of a catmove must the creator page be adapted and renamed too? The DEFAULTSORT has to be adapted too I suppose. In this special case, there is als the possible choice between proposed Abram Arkhipov and the 3-names variant Abram Efimovich Arkhipov. What name do you prefere? Can you treat this moverequest? Greetings --Havang(nl) (talk) 07:58, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done I usually prefer 3 name variant but seems like English and most other languages use 2 name version so that is what I used too. It seems like many Russian painter categories were created by someone using German spelling instead ow English. It is a standard problem with Russian names and I usually leave them as is. --Jarekt (talk) 03:56, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can you either do the moves or remove the move tag so that admins do no go over these again and again. Thanks --Havang(nl) (talk) 13:15, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

tl:painting[edit]

Hello, I don't know if you have read the talk page on Painting. As an administrator who has been active on this template and on related topics, would you agree to do the following mofifications ? (I've got the support of Vincent Steenberg, an no opposition)

 • Remove the "painting information black line". (Or alternatively replace it by some broader term like "about this artwork" or "object information but I think nothing at all would be simpler)
 • Make the "artist" field optional (some works, including quite a few from the Brooklyn Museum are obviously anonymous, in this case, we get artist:', which is not very useful)
 • Add an "inscriptions" field for inscriptions and markings (probably below "notes")
 • Add a provenance field (probably below the "inscriptions"
 • Move source below ID, or even below other versions, as this is a somewhat different topic (it is not the painting itself)
 • Maybe do something about current location. The city name lost in the right side of the screen looks a bit strange when all the rest is packed on the left side, beside, in a few cases, we have things like "Musée du Louvre, Room 14 Paris", which doesn't seem a very logical order. Maybe we can put "Location, gallery", but it may not look always good. Possibly the simplest solution is to put the city one line above the gallery.
 • If you know how to solve the problem with bold in the title (like here), it would be a good thing.
 • Last minute adding: Maybe you can add something to put the first letter in uppercase in the "technique" field, and probably by the same occasions to other fields as well. This would enable to remove the uppercase from the first parameter in , this in turn would be convenient if we want to write somewhere "This is an oil on canvas" without having a capital "O". Beside, it would solve some problems I encountered when trying to upgrade the template technique:)--Zolo (talk) 09:36, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Creator template home categories lacking content[edit]

Hi Jarekt, I made this category (well Foroa made it, I just added the auto-categorizing thing to the template) to get an idea of how many creator categories we had without images. More than I thought. I made it to do some searches to try to fill them as I already had some luck with a couple (or find mismatches like Pierre Kropotkine/Peter Kropotkin), but as far as keeping it a maintenance category, you're welcome to remove it from the template if you want. I don't know what your stance is on empty categories, but I know some people don't like them (I learned to live with them after some users pointed out their usefulness). The question is: do you make these anticipating images or did we previously had some images that got deleted/recategorized? Rocket000 (talk) 07:14, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I know about those since at some point I was tracking unused creator templates (see User:Jarekt/CreatorTemplates#0_9). I do not think they are a problem assuming the information in creator page is correct and there is enough information to uniquely pinpoint an individual. Most of those pages belong to artist for whom all images were deleted, for example because they died less than 70 years ago. I think they are useful and can help with categorization of new images using other licenses. Other empty categories might be created in preparation for new uploads. I used your maintenance category to correct several of my categories but I am not planning on using it much further so it is fine with me to dismantle it unless we are planning to use it. --Jarekt (talk) 13:04, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Submerging Tychy[edit]

Hi Jarekt. It looks as there is a serious promotion going on concerning the works of Category:Henryk Jan Dominiak and he seems to occupy almost half of the Category:Tychy village. Could you have a look on that ? Thank you. --Foroa (talk) 09:57, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that Henryk Jan Dominiak (or his family) swamped Category:Tychy with their images only marginally related to that city, but I think that might be often the case when we have very few contributing wikip(m)dians from some locations and we mostly get images of what they are interested in. My neighborhood is mostly represented by dozen of images of turtles, frogs and bugs. I think images in Category:Henryk Jan Dominiak category are not outside our scope (marginally) and hopefully other wikip(m)dians from that region will contribute more images. One think I would like to get is the Commons:OTRS from that guy. --Jarekt (talk) 13:29, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jarekt,

I write here because I don't want to stop your JarektBot, but he has done a mistake in the description of this picture. He has seen "Victoire de Samothrace" in the filename, so he thought that it was the original statue in the Louvre Museum, which is wrong : it's only a speleothem, in a cave in the south-west of France, which looks like the famous statue. If I revert your bot, he will do the same thing, or not ?

Hi,

As the main contributor to Meta information museum, I'm interested in your initiative and I answered your message. There is still some work to do IMO before we can make a switch, but that's very promising.

Style of Creator: and Museum: templates[edit]

Hi,

I like these templates which are quite convenient, but I find they look a little old. Furthermore, as they are mostly designed to be embedded in templates such as Information or Painting, I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to make them look the same as these templates (or perhaps with slightly different colors, green for Creator:, violet for Museum:?). That would be more consistent and easy-to-eye.

What's your opinion? Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 09:13, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In general I like idea of updating those templates. User:Zolo also started discussions here and here proposing some new color schema, but I and others do not like the proposed changes. The colors have to look good by themselves when used on Category:Creator template home categories and within Information or Painting (or whatever we will call it in the future). I will experiment with it, but I am not an artist and not sure if I will come up with something better. --Jarekt (talk) 03:48, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Also: I think the image in the museum template should really be moved on the right side. Text first! Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 09:30, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

year of birth[edit]

Hello, Jarekt, in no hurry I finished the 1500 dutch people years of birth and death. You may put another similar list from e.g. Category:People of Belgium lacking year of birth at my User:Havang(nl)/list 2 page. --Havang(nl) (talk) 18:15, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pozostałości[edit]

Witaj!

Template to fix + artists names[edit]

I intend to upload 300 engraved portraits of a book (first edition dated 1889) from which a single portrait already exists on commons: File:Cambonpierrejoseph.jpg. This file has a bad upload/artist template. Can you fix that template, so that I have an exemple for my uploads. Concerning the artist names: the left signature is H.R. who also signs as H.Rousseau, and he is the designer, and the right signature is E.Th, who signs also as E.T. or E.Thomas and he is the engraver. You may find further bibliographical details HERE. If you see impediments against uploading, let me also know. Greetings, --Havang(nl) (talk) 20:00, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I created a book template for this Book: Album du Centenaire. If we know anything about the authors we could also create Creator templates for them. But the template can be improved in the future and images can be improved now. I do not know much about legal status of this book. It should be PD but there is no clear proof that authors died prior to 1940. I think it is fine but than again some of my uploads are being deleted. --Jarekt (talk) 02:24, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks. The entire book is on Gallica. With help of Pieter Kuiper, I found some more details about the authors see User_talk:Pieter_Kuiper#Album_du_Centenaire. Several of the artists are on wiki-fr. Do you have a possibility to check wether H.Rousseau is Henri Rousseau. --Havang(nl) (talk) 07:28, 25 October 2010 (UTC) .[reply]
Small reference to one more artist: Frédéric Théodore Lix. --Havang(nl) (talk) 15:41, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Editeur[edit]

I am suprised in my book, the editor is Librairie Furne, Jouvet & Cie, Éditeurs, 5, Rue Palatine, 5. L'Avis des éditeurs est signé JOUVET et Cie and the book mentions Paris - Typographie du magasin pittoresque (E.Best). The Gallica version mentions "Ancienne librairie Furne", etcetera; and mentions Typographie Firmon-Didot & Cie, Mesnil. But otherwise the two versions look completely similar. L'Avis des ëditeurs est signé LES ÉDITEURS. I have uploaded a picture of the front page of my book File:AduC 000 Album du Centenaire, frontispice avec gravure d'E.Bayard.JPG. In my book there is no copyright line. Is mine a false copy or an older edition? The is quite more on wikipedia about Category:Le Magasin pittoresque et Jouvet et Cie. Greetings, --Havang(nl) (talk) 08:23, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All my book Info I got from an latter edition, I found on the web. Please correct if needed. I see you are dong great progress identifying names of the artists. This is the first template using both book and artwork but I think they work well together. This pattern can be useful for other works --Jarekt (talk) 21:00, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vivat ribbons[edit]

Jarek, I was able to identify all authors in Category:World War I Vivat ribbons. Sadly, a number of these ribbons are not yet PD. See Commons:Deletion requests/Vivat ribbons. I'm still investigating the two done by Erich Heermann; I'll have to visit the library to check for a possible death date. Sorry... Lupo 11:11, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Photo licensing[edit]

Jarekt, in addition to PD-old, I have put a Photo Licensing, PD-self on this file, File:AduC 050 (Klootz (A., 1755-1794).JPG. I can remove it or add it to all my AduC files. What do you advise? --Havang(nl) (talk) 15:08, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For 2D works (without frames) PD-self or other licenses for the photographs/scans are not needed and possibly even wrong. It is only of importance with photographs of 3D objects. --Jarekt (talk) 16:11, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I asked it because of THIS and a template discussion I had seen. --Havang(nl) (talk) 17:26, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
For 2D works from other websites I would use PD-scan, possibly with PD-old-70 --Jarekt (talk) 17:29, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That website has digital copyright for the PD-uploads they made. My uploads are own photographic work of the same PD-'s independent of that website; to avoid source confusion, should I mention somewhere that I made the photographs from the book I own? --Havang(nl) (talk) 21:49, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You should add "scan by uploader" as a source. I do not think we have translated template for this purpose. Scanning by yourself might work the best here but I think this website can not copyright PD images and they can be copied from this website and uploaded here using PD-scan. However before I do it I would get a second opinion on Village Pump or at Commons talk:Licensing--Jarekt (talk) 02:03, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In following our doings, I learn reading (or event adapting) templates. I saw the new Album-template line for descriptions. Is that intended as a general line for such templates? And do you expect me to fill that in with some texte or is the file title sufficiently descriptive for these portraits? --Havang(nl) (talk) 19:37, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In most cases "Artwork title" should be enough but I am sure some files will be able to use additional description. "Artwork description" is an optional field to be used if needed. --Jarekt (talk) 19:43, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Histoire Socialiste (Jaurès), a candidate for a book template? Greetings --Havang(nl) (talk) 11:59, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I do not know. I think it is the matter of emphasis If the reason we have an image is because it is a part of a book we use Book template but if the image could have come from this or dozen other books than Cite book in source field would be a better match. Of course the category itself if is dedicated to a book would benefit from Book template. --Jarekt (talk) 13:26, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jarekt, why did you delete this template? There are some new files using this template, and it is very easy to convert templates automatically when copying images from ukwiki (unfortunately, bot looses almost all information, so it has to be checked manually). Please undelete it if possible or make a support of Ukrainian fields in standard template. Thank you — NickK (talk) 18:53, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All files using this template seem to be moved to Commons by user:SeredaLA and are all listed for deletion due to lack of license information. Those seem to be botched move attempts done without use of standard moving tools like CommonsHelper and CommonsHelper 2. I am under impression that such templates are unnecessary for proper move and no other wiki uses specialized templates for files they moved. However, if I am mistaken and tools like CommonsHelper and CommonsHelper 2 need such templates than I will be happy to restore. --Jarekt (talk) 20:33, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, these tools do not normally need such templates. However, for unknown reasons copying goes wrong and ComonsHelper simply looses all information except of original uploader and original cateories (i.e. descriprtions, author and source information is lost). Thus it's usually easier to copy the Ukrainian template than to fill in the information once more. Just an example how all the information was lost — NickK (talk) 02:08, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I restored the template. I will ask around to see if ComonsHelper can be fixed. --Jarekt (talk) 03:11, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Screen effect on pictures[edit]

Category:Engravings from Album du Centenaire. I bought a nice new screen today, and now a number of images show suddenly my applications of paint... it looks bad now. Do you have an advice, shall I reupload the worst images? --Havang(nl) (talk) 14:47, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I look at few images (on my tiny laptop screen) and they look fine. Which ones do you think are problematic? --Jarekt (talk) 15:38, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I already reuploaded File:AduC 003 Diderot (1713-1784).jpg and File:AduC 007 l'amiral d'Estaing (1729-1794).jpg (but the reuplaods these days are rendering badly; I tried a second reupload). Look at the differences in the large images. May-be if you upload the first version in your computer, and make it slightly darker, you may see it. --Havang(nl) (talk) 15:59, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{PD-scan|PD-old-XX} : use of creator templates?[edit]

Hello Jarekt,

This change is a very good thing, thanks!

Suggestion for improvement: maybe it would be possible to infer from Creator templates a more precise tag such as {PD-old-100} ? For example in this case, where the author died in 1877.

Cheers, Jean-Fred (talk) 10:59, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking about it. I added tag to Creator which will mark all files ready for PD-old-100. --Jarekt (talk) 14:16, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Option[edit]

Hi Jarekt, Today I noticed while cleaning up dead-links to Template, about 300 links to Option. I took me a while to figure out where they came from, but on one particular File-page it originated here. Please be careful with parameters, 3 curly brackets are required for it to work, if the third closing curly bracket is missing it is intepreted as 1 curcly bracket + template, in this case {Option. I've fixed it on that page. But after I started noticing it on many Creator-pages I started looking at the documentation and it appears it was added by you there, that explains why it was on so many Creator-pages. Documentation fixed now. –Krinkletalk 02:59, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oba te obiekty istnieją do dziś: File:Remnant of checkpoint on former Poland-Free City of Gdańsk border (part of main artery of the Tricity) - 02.jpg. Co najdziwniejsze, drzewo prawie wcale nie zmieniło się od tego czasu. Niestety dotychczasowe zdjęcia na Commons nie wskazują na to. Pozdr. --Starscream (talk) 03:29, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mass breakage by JarektBot + 9,000 templatelinks to inexisting Template:1, Template:2, Template:3[edit]

Hi Jarekt, I just noticed several thousands of transclusions of Template:1, 2 and 3. Origin being edits like these. Please, please, always check the result page when editing a template. Atleast make a test-edit, which I guess you didn't becuase the breakage can be clearly seen after saving the page, as the result looks like these: [4] [5] etc. I've fixed those I could find but I recommend tracing the bot. –Krinkletalk 10:58, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, my bots have done over 3k edits to templates this month, and similar number in recent months. I am unable to check each edit by hand. I do extensive testing before each run but do not always hit every strange case. The problem you have discovered affected less than 10 templates out of 1400 edited. That said I will try to be more careful. I used CatScan2 [10=1&templates_no=Book&PHPSESSID=o2el2qo4dfpj752hprfc1cvc25 to test] for other templates based on Book template which were broken. I found one more, but other than that I think all Category:Book templates are accounted for and all have valid Home-categories (which I was editing), so I think you got them all. Thanks for watching --Jarekt (talk) 15:14, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

English: Filming of "Black Thursday" at the intersection of Świętojańska Street, Gdynia and 10 Lutego Street in Gdynia. People on this picture are actors, background actors, other workers of film crew or workers of subcontractors. "Black Thursday" is a film about Polish 1970 protests.

Wcześniej jednak, poprosiłbym o bardziej dobraną do sytuacji nazwę. Przykładowo: File:Dorota Segda at closing of XXXIII Polish Film Festival in Gdynia 2008.jpg lub podobnie brzmiącą, którą uznasz za poprawniejszą językowo. Dziękuję. --Starscream (talk) 07:46, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nazwa File:Dorota Segda at closing of XXXIII Polish Film Festival in Gdynia 2008.jpg jest poprawna. Moze File:Dorota Segda at 2008 Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.jpg, która jest krótsza.
Dlatego, poproszę jednak File:Dorota Segda at closing of XXXIII Polish Film Festival in Gdynia 2008.jpg Pozdr. --Starscream (talk) 20:21, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Koszmarne jest życie perfekcjonisty. Pięćset razy wszystko sprawdzałem, a nie zauważyłem błędu w tytule. Proszę o zmianę "Your" na "YOUR". Wzorując się na oryginalnym plakacie. Pozdr. --Starscream (talk) 21:17, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Any information on Paul Gavelle?[edit]

Hello! I'd like to know if you could, perhaps, have any information regarding a photographer, who was probably French, called Paul Gavelle, who worked in the early 20th century in France. I believe he took photos in Eu. Thank you very much! Kind regards, --Lecen (talk) 05:39, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry I can not help you but I have never heard of him. --Jarekt (talk) 13:39, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's ok, Jarekt. Thank you, anyway. Regards, --Lecen (talk) 16:13, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Witam!

Pozdr. --Starscream (talk) 16:49, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Locations without interwiki links[edit]

Please see my earlier comment on Category talk:Multilingual tags: Locations without interwiki links.

I do not see why these should link to Wikipedia instead of linking to the relevant Commons gallery.

Problem with Template:Artwork[edit]

Hi there, since you did a lot of editing on the template named above, maybe you could take a look why the location field („Aschaffenburg“ surrounded by a dotted box?) screws up as in the example? Thanks in advance --Mylius (talk) 23:03, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done Fixed, it was due to some changes I did to City template. --Jarekt (talk) 02:59, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for taking care of this so fast! :-) --Mylius (talk) 12:49, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jarekt, I wish you a good 2011. Can you have a look at File:Jules Auguste Beclard.jpg, picture of a double grave, going into two categories Grave of..... The creator templates are not on the file, but in those grave-cats, and rather mixed up. Also, the file for clarity has to be renamed. Can you clean up a bit there? --Havang(nl) (talk) 11:47, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Replacement[edit]

Hi, in [6] you replaced official Esperanto form "Saksujo" to unofficial *Saksio*. Not speaking the language, you shouldn't change translations that are previously embedded manually. Anyway, what source do you use for the translations? Thanks, --Petrus Adamus (talk) 23:08, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I do not know anything about esperanto, but eo:Saksio is the name used for the region on esperanto wikipedia. --Jarekt (talk) 01:06, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
