picture of Jerseys[edit]

Why did you delete my page pictures?!?! They are all just picture of Jerseys worn by the UF cycling team! We had full permission from the university to wear them! I am new to Wikipedia and don't understand why this would happen.

I tried to reply to you when you first threatened to do this.— Preceding unsigned comment was added by 2601:C3:C280:E20:A19C:EF35:61F0:B3D5 (talk) 01:48, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please be more specific about files in question? Or at least login when asking quesion? I may be mistaken, but is university logo represents gator? If so, please read Commons:Derivative works --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:52, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Response to Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Texan1984[edit]

Hi, the images from the page Reza Dana were deleted without raising the concern or to let me give a response. Respond for Deletion resquest of logo File:Look Magazine.jpg[edit]

Hi! This is an Isotype that the Magazine use for all the media they have, so that's why we uploaded it like that... is it really necessary to reupload it as SVG? I'm using the logo for the Magazine page in Wikipedia Spanish. Thanks in advance. --EDiin52 (talk) 06:55, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Article in Spanish Wikipedia is also nominated for deletion. Please read Commons:Project scope and w:es:Wikipedia:Artículos sin relevancia aparente. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:44, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, well i just changed the article the way the person who submit the deletion request told me, and I fully meet the requirements for the article to stay, so, I was wondering if there's a chance from you to help me with the logo or is there any other thing I have to do for the Isotype to stay. wiki commons deletion of Earl E. Smith pages[edit]

I have spent the better part of a few years building Wikipedia pages for notable bands, and people in music who have had a significant historic impact. I would like to keep the pages and images as they are a product of my work and violate NO standards. I would like to question why they were tagged in the first place Earl E. Smith (talk) 17:56, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Who made these photos and posters? --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:22, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
They are my work for the artists. I have permission to use their likeness, I am not profiting in any way from this nor will anyone else. It is simply for historical artistic reference and nothing has been licensed.

Response to Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Caracal Rooikat[edit]

The use of national emblems is typically subject to certain restrictions outside the scope of copyright law designed to prevent disparaging or confusing uses and to avoid misrepresentations. Using a national emblem in a context where the display of the emblem might be construed to falsely imply an official endorsement is also generally forbidden. Any such usage restrictions are beyond copyright law, though. They are designed to prevent fraudulent abuses of emblems, in particular to prevent using them to imply an affiliation with or an endorsement by an official body when there is no such affiliation or endorsement. Merely showing such emblems (for instance, in a Wikipedia article) is, in our understanding, not subject to such emblem or insignia laws.

Please see answer in section below. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:54, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Response to Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Caracal Rooikat[edit]

Wow. Im going to keep this short. These images of badges belong to an era in South Africa (pre 1994) that is the apartheid era. None of these images have copyright as the new national government of national unity redesigned emblems for the new defence force. There is no copyright in South Africa on this emblems and they are now purely historical in context. Please refer to South African or Military History wikipedians about something you obviously do not understand.

These files are definitely not your own work. If such symbols were exempted from copyrights, proper license tag should be used. See Commons:Copyright rules by territory/South Africa. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:39, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Response to deletion request of photo of "Elío - El Señor de Elío.jpg" "Vizconde de Val de Erro (1775).jpg" "Vizconde Valderro.jpg" "Escudo Marqués de Gongora.jpg" "Marqués de Vessolla 02.jpg" "Vessolla Medallon.jpg" "Escudo de Duque de Elío GdeE.jpg" & "Escudo Marques Vessolla.jpg"[edit]

Hello there, I am Santiago Mendaro Elío, from Spain; the OWNER of all those historical coats of arms and all its copyrights, also the AUTHOR of all these final collage images, and the USER who has uploaded all the JPG files. Thanks.

Ownership doesn't assume authorship. See Commons:Copyright rules by territory for proper license tag(s). --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:18, 22 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Ownership doesn't assume authorship" I don´t understand this issue. What do you need to know exactly ? or what can I do about this ? All those images are made from myself and they are not subject to copyright restrictions, so they can be used by anyone. The images are photos taken with my own camera in my house, and the drawings are made for me with a simple computer tool.

Scanning/taking photo of other work doesn't make you author of that work. See Commons:Derivative works. Most likely these coat of arms in public domain, but source information/(approximate) date of creation are needed as well as proper license tag. Again, see Commons:Copyright rules by territory for relevant country for proper license tag. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:41, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, that´s very easy ! : photos and scans are taken from myself in my own house a couple of years ago from a book and two wall hangings which belongs to me (all those were my ancestors belongings) 1.- the book was made in 1775 and the title is "Inventario de Papeles y Escrituras de la Casa de Ayanz y sus Mayorazgos de Santamaría y Val de Erro. arreglados el Año de 1775. tomo 2" . This manuscript is in my private library, and there is also a scanned copy in the "Biblioteca del Arzobispado Pamplona" (I have include this info in the "Bibliography" and "References" sections in the articles) 2.- the wall hangings belongs to my family from several generations now (4 or 5) and probably were ordered and manufactured around end of XIX century.

You need to add such information into each file description. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:05, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but don´t know what kind of "proper license tag" is needed for those images, they are not subject to copyright restrictions, so they can be used by anyone.

Looks like these files should be in public domain by age. What is country of origin for books? --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:05, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The origin country of those books (manuscripts) is Spain (Europe)

Please read Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Spain. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:02, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Done ! No problems.

Did you find proper license tag(s)? --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:37, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Response to deletion request of photo of "Rosas de Paulo Sangiuliano.jpg" And file "Our Lady Terminator of All Heresies.png"[edit]

I am Lucaspdantas, EugeneZelenko You are wrong, the file "Rosas de Paulo Sangiuliano.jpg" is the painter "Paulo Sangiuliano" and the name of the file already says the name of the artist, Just to be aware, I am the current owner of this work, I took this photo with my Samsung A3, it is absurd you mark it for exclusion, unless you misinterpreted it by not speaking Portuguese.

Ownership of physical copy doesn't mean copyrights ownership. Paulo Sangiuliano died in 1984 and Brazil protects copyrights for 70 years after. See Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Brazil. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:04, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deno logo File:Deno.svg[edit]

Hi, I saw a notice of potentially deleting the media. Please remove the licensing notice. I am the creator of Deno logo (my Github handle is also @kevinkassimo, major contributor to Deno project), and it is released under MIT license (a highly permissive license). Proof could be found here: https://deno.land/manual.html#logos and https://github.com/denolib/high-res-deno-logo. I did not found an option to use MIT license during the upload process, so I chose CC0 for it. If you believe this is not the right license to use, could you help me changing it to MIT (since I am not very familiar with the Wiki software)? Thanks. Kevinkassimo (talk) 04:20, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You could edit file description page and use {{MIT}}. Please also fill Source and Permission fields and refer to relevant pages in GitHub. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:26, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

deletion notifications[edit]

I had always intended to have my uploaded images deleted, as I only needed them for relatively short periods of time to put together a project. That is why I rushed with many of them when it came to things like copyright. I am perfectly fine with them being deleted, if anything because I don't know much about copyright or wikipedia. Calvin Coolidge 2020 (talk) 11:59, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your files were mostly nominated for deletion because of Commons:Project scope, not copyrights. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:57, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain me what you mean with a license tag? Thanks. QuiYa (talk) 11:28, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

See File:BeneluxA initiative.png#Licensing. Countries coats of arms are not your work. See Commons:Copyright rules by territory for proper copyrights status. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:59, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Can you please undelete the logo you deleted so I can add the info below (or you can do it) thanks.Sedimentary (talk) 16:46, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This file is non-trivial corporate logo. Unless copyrights owner will make explicit permission it could not be hosted on Commons. See Commons:Licensing. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:00, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use in Autocar Company[edit]

Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws, and the stricter requirements of Wikipedia's non-free content policies, because:

  1. Description: Logo of American truck manufacturer Autocar, LLC
  2. Source: www.autocartruck.com
  3. Use in Article: Autocar_Company
  4. Purpose of use in article: To serve as the primary means of visual identification at the top of the article dedicated to the entity in question.
  5. Not replaceable with free media because: Being a logo, there is no uncopyrighted equivalent.
  6. It is a low resolution image, and thus not suitable for production of counterfeit goods.
  7. The logo is not used in such a way that a reader would be confused into believing that the article is written or authorized by the owner of the logo.
You should upload non-free media locally into projects that allow them, like English Wikipedia. See also Commons:Licensing. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:56, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

New User responding to deletion request[edit]

Hello. I am new to Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons. I see you requested deletion of several of my photos on the Tony A. Da Wizard article with the reason of "Promo photos. No evidence of permission(s)." I am not exactly sure how this all completely works yet but I can tell you there is nothing promotional in these photographs. I am not sure what "No evidence of permissions means but I am the copyright owner. I would ask that you consider withdrawaling your request for deletion because they do not break any guidelines that I am aware of. Thank you.

Please send authorship confirmation to Commons:OTRS (example: Commons:Email templates). Then you could ask help on Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard with permission review. One of photos is Commons:Derivative works from album covers, so you'll need to get permission from copyrights holder. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:00, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Response to deletion request of photo of "Johan Berger Mathiesen."[edit]

Hello. I see you requested that a photo I added to the page of "Johan Berger Mathiesen" (in Norwegian) be deleted. First of all, I want to stress that I possess an original of this photograph from the 1890s; and second, the only time it has been reproduced, to my knowledge, is in a book from 1915. I have thus been under the impression that the photo belongs in the public domain.

Please read Commons:Copyright rules by territory to check is true or not. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:34, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello. I asked the graphic designer of the logo I submitted (found on the official website of the company) for a written autorisation to share it. Is it the right way to certify the correct use of a logo ? thank you for your help.

Logo design is {{PD-textlogo}}. You uploaded two variants. One of them is unused, so I nominated it foe deletion. See w:en:Scalable Vector Graphics for best format fos such images. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:23, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I don't know German :-( Your user name and name on document are different. Document also contain images that could have different author. Commons:OTRS is best way to resolve such copyrights ambiguities. ... deletion request...voters list published in newspapers -- You could find proper license tag on Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Russia.[edit]

> You could find proper license tag on Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Russia. I cannot. The case of official newspapers published content, not a creative content (not a story, poem or photo), with free public access (newspapers available at local libraries, issues older than 100 years).

The following tags might suite: {{PD-old-100}} {{PD-RusEmpire}}

but they do not cover the specific of the subject. I suggest new tags like Template:PD-RusEmpire-Newspapers

What tag should I use? Thanks Alexander — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alx90865 (talk • contribs) 16:15, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

{{PD-RusEmpire}} is correct license tag. Formally, all files are official document, but there is no need for special tag for that. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:51, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hippomenes photos[edit]

Hi there - I'm concerned that some hard-to-get photos might get deleted following your proposal to delete: Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Hippomenes. I don't know much about the requirements for loading and describing photos and I suspect the uploader doesn't know either. So could you please be specific and in layman's terms about what is required. I'm very familiar with the content of two of them, and they seem legit for the reasons I've nominated on the deletion page (and i don't have reason to doubt the others which I'm not so familiar with). --Merbabu (talk) 01:48, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

From my new user page:

I am the author of these photos, in that I took the originals in the 1980s (two Sydney ferries, the view of Woolwich Sydney NSW from Birchgrove Sydney NSW, the interior of a Zimbabwean Vickers Viscount) on 35mm film and have been scanning the resulting negatives gradually over the last 9 months or so. I lived in London until 1983 before moving to Sydney, and regularly visited my childhood home in Zimbabwe around that time and since.

From my new user page:

Hippomenes is British-born (1954) Zimbabwean-educated (1961-1973) Australian-resident (1983-). Grandparents were refugees from Lithuania to UK in 1915. Father lived in UK retired to Kenya (1987-1997). Younger brother has lived in Brazil since 1977. I have been a mad-keen photographer since 1971, the first 33 years entirely 35mm format. As a result of all this I have a load of photos of a number of parts of the world, a lot of them 30+ years ago. I am finally in the process of scanning my way through the c10,000 negatives that this obsession has produced. I would like to upload interesting examples for which I am the author and for which I possess the original negative. I will obviously not do so if the Wikipedia attitude remains "delete all" rather than "what can we do to keep interesting photographs?". Hippomenes (talk) 03:42, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think authorship confirmation via Commons:OTRS is best way to confirm your authorship. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:59, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We do not require GF editors to go through OTRS to confirm authorship of non-controversial photos with no reason to doubt their claims. Do not start now! Andy Dingley (talk) 12:01, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Historical photos may be controversial, since many uploaders claims own work even for 100 years old works. Other example are sport teams photos. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:33, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong file extension used on wiki[edit]

I have used ogg extension instead of ogv on https://pl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infobot for file File:Infobot w Google Assistant.ogv that you have marked for deletion. There is currently an update pending. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oort7 (talk • contribs) 21:15, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for deletion request was Commons:Project scope, not file name extension. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:28, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I thought that it was marked for deletion because it was not used on any page and it was because I have used wrong filename in the article. If it is not the reason, which one from Project Scope is it? Oort7 (talk) 14:45, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Unused one(s). --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:46, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I see. So if it is now being used on https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infobot could it be unmarked for deletion? Oort7 (talk) 20:27, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please mention this fact on deletion request page. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:06, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have mentioned it on https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_uploaded_by_Oort7 - I hope it is the right place. Thank you. Oort7 (talk) 19:08, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Re: File:School of Arts and Science, Uyo.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation[edit]

Hello Eugene, as an alumni of the School of Arts and Science, Uyo, and duly authorized by the executive members of the alumni to create/publish the informational article for the high school, uploading and using that logo for that specific intent is in complete compliance. That logo was uploaded by a fellow alumni (Dr. Ime Okonna) to our alumni group Facebook photos page, I downloaded the logo from the Facebook photos page and I included the hyperlink to the Facebook page in the references section of the informational article I created for the high school. You can find the draft of the informational article here Draft:School of Arts and Science. Please undelete that logo. Thank you. Emman369 (talk) 18:16, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please ask school administration/legal council to send permission to Commons:OTRS (example: Commons:Email templates). Then you could ask help on Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard with permission review and file undeletion. Otherwise you could upload logo locally to projects that allows non-free media, for example, English Wikipedia. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:32, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Villa Frohberg, Winterthur[edit]

Eugene Zelenco: This is the second time you are questioning my copyright about a picture that was shot for me and has been published on Winterthur-Glossar since 2015. Here is the Link, once again (3rd picture from top): https://www.winterthur-glossar.ch/app/default/pub/fw.action/wine.article?ce_id=338&ce_name=Building. Eugene: When I read your history, it seems to me that you are clearly a bit "over-zealous" (to put it mildly). Where is the trust in the word of people who have an unblemished history? I find your insistence to be offensive, but if you continue to insist, I will send you copy of a personal email that I received this morning from Heinz Baechinger, who is the administrator of Winterthur-Glossar. He confirms that he personally shot that picture for me and gives me permission to use it. A personal advice to you, Eugene: Don't try to be more catholic than the Pope and concentrate on issues that are clearly questionable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rudyernst (talk • contribs) 15:05, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but Google Search link is wrong way to provide source information. winterthur-glossar.ch page doesn't provide information about license and author. If from Heinz Baechinger is photographer/copyrights owner, you could ask him to send permission to Commons:OTRS (example: Commons:Email templates). Then you could ask help on Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard with permission review. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:58, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File:Lloyd kaufman neon zombie.jpg File:Neon Zombie John Landis.jpg[edit]

I made those pictures. And the usage of the magazine within these pictures is absolutly fine in this context. It is not violating any copyright law nor is the content problematic. It also makes sense in the context of the article because the mentioned magazine is a film magazine about popular fantasy cinema and both directors and producers are well known for their work in this specific genre.--Filmjunkie137 (talk) 19:26, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please read Commons:Derivative works. Magazine covers are not necessary to illustrate articles about people. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:02, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File:Neonzombielogo.png[edit]

In the German wikipedia it is common to recreate the logo of companies. It is absolutly fine under the very tough German copyright laws. Many, many Wikipedia pages for big corpoartions proof it. It is even common to recreate titles for films since it is not allowed to upload a filmposter. So the recreation of the magazine is fine.

Two other examples: The wikipedia page for the German film magazine "Cinema" using a recreated logo: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinema The Wikipedia page for the movie "Top Gun" using a recreated logo: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gun_%E2%80%93_Sie_f%C3%BCrchten_weder_Tod_noch_Teufel

--Filmjunkie137 (talk) 19:31, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rád bych přemístil do rubriky "Letectví" a podrubriky "Řízení letového provozu".

If your going to delete them then take a look at the rest[edit]

Hello there as I say if you're on the male masturbation there are about 30 videos I post one which in contrast is the same but this time a woman is doing it yet I see no one deleting all the male masturbation videos Yet one get posted of a female is not right yet the videos of the other sex is I mean it does show what female ejaculation is as so do the male ejaculation videos if your going to delete this then i find it odd you have not seen all the other male videos Also accounting for fellatio the video wasn't a porno it showed what it was now that you can delete yet if it was in black and white would you delete it yet there seem to be old videos of the same thing in black and white more sexual than the one I posted.

Commons has enough of explicit materials of any kind, so it's always good idea to ask what is still missing. I personally don't discriminate on kind of such media, but I could not patrol all new uploads. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:59, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Structured Data - testing other statements[edit]

You can now test using other statements for structured data on the file page on Test-Commons. Some datatypes are not yet available, such a coordinates, but further support will be extended soon. You can find more information about testing on the SDC talk page. The team looks forward to your feedback. -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 16:41, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Response to deletion request for maps by jamaps[edit]

Hi there. I had request for deletion on some maps that I've uploaded (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_uploaded_by_Jamaps). I'm the author/creator of all these images and I would like them to remain on Wikimedia Commons and on Wikipedia. If I just change the license on my images to CC BY-SA 4.0, would that be okay?

Sure, it'll be good idea to re-upload images with proper license or better without boilerplate. Please mention this fact on deletion request page after re-uploading. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:20, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your message[edit]

Hi, I have changed that information you wanted for the first picture "Disegno di Legge" and for the first picture of Berta Autotrasporti. Can you tell me if I have made it correctly ? So I could change the informations for the other files. Thank you.--IlCommenda (talk) 14:10, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Some of your uploads are not you own work. They may be in public domain because of age or other reasons, but it's necessaary to have relevant information in every file as well as correct license tag. See Commons:Essential information and Commons:Copyright rules by territory. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:17, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion Enquiry[edit]

@EugeneZelenko: Hi, I hope things go well. You recently deleted my RighTel Communication photo here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:RighTel_Communications.jpg Now, I am not here to bargain about that! However please delete a complete similar photo to that which I wanted to delete for ages but just unsuccessful here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:RighTel.jpg Many thanks Milad Mosapoor 23:27, 04 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Design of card and user manual much simpler in this case and some may think it's {{PD-textlogo}}, so deletion request is appropriate for this file. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:22, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I see, then please comment on its decision to be deleted here and help me: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:RighTel.jpg Thanks Milad Mosapoor 14:57, 05 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have strong opinion in this case. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:07, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Editing and deeting of content on Janja Vidmar subpage[edit]

Hello, ia am Anže Miš, ceo of Miš Publishing house, Janjas publisher. The photos that i have uploaded are of our copyrights. And that goes for both a photo of Janja Vidmar, that I perosnaly took in february 2012 and of book cover for Treja možnost - that i have made personaly as well. I am new to contributing to wikipedia, and do not know what to do to prove above mentioned.

Best regards, Anže Miš — Preceding unsigned comment added by AMousy (talk • contribs) 12:06, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's not obvious that AMousy is Anže Miš, so please send authorship confirmation to Commons:OTRS (example: Commons:Email templates). Then you could ask help on Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard with permission review. Same should be done for book cover, but from official copyrights holder. After permission check file could be undeleted. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:58, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request[edit]

Greetings Eugene: Could you review https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/%D0%9E%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%B3_-_73 ? I do not speak Russian and that gallery has almost all "own work" - although it would appear on the surface that much of it is not actually personally created. Thank you for you review. Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 16:59, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done. I think you are correct, so I nominated almost all files for deletion. Some of them in public domain, but uploader should learn how to properly attribute such files as well as about relevant license tags. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:43, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deletions request File:Ciudad de los Césares obra teatro.png / File:Baradit manifestacion.png[edit]

Eugene, hi. You request a deletion arguing "Unlikely to be own work: small resolutions, missing EXIF." Both photographs has been taken by friends with my cellphone in one case, and a cellphone of their own in the other. Then were processed to reduce their resolution in order to upload them to wikisource.

Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rodanogo (talk • contribs) 22:17, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In both cases you need to ask your friends to send permissions to Commons:OTRS (example: Commons:Email templates). Then you could ask help on Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard with permission review. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:57, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Files nominated for deletion[edit]

Hi Eugene,

Few of the files that I have uploaded in the past have been nominated for deletion. I'm sorry, looks like I haven't uploaded them properly or in a correct place. Could you please advice what has to be done in order for those files to stay on GFK Tikvesh page, or where else I can upload them. Kind Regards, F00700I (talk) 21:54, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You need to find out if these images in public domain or not. It's necessary to look for source information: photographer(s), dates of his/her life or at least approximate date of creation if author is unknown. Then license tags must be fixed. See Commons:Copyright rules by territory for relevant country(ies). --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:07, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Eugene,

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. I think some of the nominated images are in public domain. We can definitely determine the approximate date of creation. I had a close look at the link which you suggested, do you think the following License tag Template:PD-North Macedonia can help in any way, as some of the images are definitely published before 1946 or 1971. Just so you know the images have been freely used in the past by multiple parties on social media, football book, football forums, sports portals, flyers etc. Kind Regards F00700I (talk) 07:48, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Answered on deletion request page. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:21, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Eugene,

I have made now License tag update on 5 of the nominated images, still need to update 1 more image. Please check if I have done it properly and it's sufficient enough.

Kind Regards F00700I (talk) 18:42, 21 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is it posssible to clarify source of original publication? Web-site didn't exist before 1971 :-) Several photos are definitely taken from newspapers. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:19, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

2nd source added now on 4 images, hopefully that will be sufficient. I still need to update one image with correct tag and source. Kind RegardsF00700I (talk) 09:27, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is "FK Tikvesh 1930-1995" a book? If so, could you please look into it for photos credits? --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:29, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, "FK Tikvesh 1930-1995" is a book published in 1996, by Ilija Karovski, who sadly died on 23 January 2012. There are no direct photo credits to anyone written in the book, but on the very last 2 pages there is a chronological order of all of the photos in the book which are probably 50+ (In Macedonian: Легенди за сликите објавени во оваа книга), and it's only written on what page is a certain photo, when it's been taken and who is on the photo, but no other mention of author etc. Kind Regards F00700I (talk) 20:50, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If original sources could not be found (for example, libraries could keep newspapers), please make source description clearer ("FK Tikvesh 1930-1995" is book, and photos are not credited there). --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:06, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The additional explanation to the source is updated on all of the files. Hopefully the tags for deletion can be removed now. Kind Regards F00700I (talk) 17:57, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It'll be also reasonable to fix File:Kavadarci - early 20th century.jpg, File:FK Tikveš U-21 in 1949.jpg and File:AH143.jpg. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:17, 10 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

OK no worries, I'll fix the tags on the other 3 images also. Kind Regards F00700I (talk) 21:13, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Licence tag has been fixed now on the other 3 files also. Kind Regards F00700I (talk) 11:08, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I can see that the deletion tags has been removed now from the images Eugene and the discussion page is closed, thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciated it. I was wondering what can be done for the old club's logo to be retrieved, the logo was deleted by User:Yann on the day you made the request for deletion of the other files. Its very significant logo in the clubs history, and it's shame not to be on the wiki page. If some tags needs to be changed then I'm more then happy to assist with that. Kind Regards F00700I (talk) 21:04, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Logo seems to be recent. Does Macedonian Wikipedia allow fair use content? If so you could upload logo locally there. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:07, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have just noticed that the logo is used on the Lithuanian wiki page for the club, lt:Vaizdas:Tikveš Kavadarci logotipas.gif can I use the same file? Kind Regards F00700I (talk) 12:05, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I don't know Lithuanian, but it looks like Lithuanian Wikipedia allows fair use content. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:51, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it looks like they allow fair use content, I will link the logo to the main (English) page, hopefully will not be removed :) Kind Regards F00700I (talk) 19:44, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion requests for public domain works listed under incompatible licenses[edit]

Hey EugeneZelenko, you made deletion requests for several national flags and emblems under the argument that the licensing should be marked public domain (For example: [1] GFDL, [2] cc-by-sa). And I agree these works probably do fall under public domain as mentioned in the English Wikipedia essay here: Copyright on renderings of emblems. So... if the license needs updated, and the works are public domain (meaning there is no license holder), why delete them?

Deletion requests are not necessarily mean deletion. Anyway source/license information need to be fixed. You could suggest better process for that. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:06, 21 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm asking because in response to your deletion request I was going to fall back to a better vector-based image, but that image has the same problem. It's licensed under a CC share-alike license, which is not compatible with public domain. Should I similarly nominate the SVG for deletion, or should I update the license? --Elephanthunter (talk) 18:49, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I could not tell how complicated original image was, so does vectorization justify separate copyrights or not? Anyway proper license for source image must present in description. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:06, 21 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi EugeneZelenko. You deleted File:BJP-Logo-Photos.jpg the other day as a "non-trivial logo". This svg file is pretty much the same logo and actually gives the jpg file as its source. Does that mean the svg also needs to go as well? -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:31, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for help! I deleted this variant too. In past I cleaned Category:Copyright violations and didn't look outside. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:14, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for checking. File:BJP Flag (Saffron BG).svg is another one that probably needs to deleted as well and there are a few more in Category:Bharatiya Janata Party and Category:Flags of political parties in India that might be problems too. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:25, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted BPL logos. By the word, there are much more problematic files in Category:Bharatiya Janata Party: thumbnails and personal photos. Sorry, I didn't have time to work on Category:Flags of political parties in India, because I usually also look on other users contributions. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:19, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for taking a look. I only came across those categories because a new BJP logo file was being added to a Wikipedia article as soon as one was deleted. I didn't really look too closely at the other files in those categories, but I try to when I get some time. -- Marchjuly (talk) 14:57, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again EugeneZelenko. You seem to have already deleted this once before, but it's been re-uploaded again by the same editor. I guess it could be a different file with just the same name as the one you deleted, but most likely it's just a re-upload. The uploader probably meant well, but this post on someone else's user talk page post and all of the notifications on their user talk page do seem to indicate that they might not be really understanding COM:L. I was thinking about adding a {{End of copyvios}} template to their user talk, but didn't want to come across as to en:WP:BITEy. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:34, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think that {{End of copyvios}} is most appropriate course of actions and I added it. User uploaded too much files violating Commons:Licensing and should clearly understand consequences. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:09, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for taking a look at this as well. -- Marchjuly (talk) 14:57, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Free source[edit]

Dear users, I did try to get the picture from the free source and i when i recieved it from a website without any copy rights tag than i thought it was good to go with. I am not on-purpose violating any laws. But by the next time i will look into the matter more carefully. Thankyou for your time. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 110.93.230.66 (talk) 10:18, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

About the deletion request of Gqom_Demo.wav[edit]

This is purely my media and I don't find it necessary to make use of an OTRS form. I am the owner of the above mentioned media, I have made it for the specific purpose of uploading it to Commons, to broaden the media range of audios. Nxgen. (talk) 07:36, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think authorship/copyrights ownership for songs confirmation via Commons:OTRS is reasonable procedure. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:12, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Per Commons:OTRS#When_contacting_OTRS_is_unnecessary it's not necessary if "I created the file myself, it hasn't been previously published, and I am the sole owner of its copyright.". The RedBurn (talk) 17:52, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Own work is not so obvious in case of songs. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:13, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe, but an OTRS form wouldn't change that. The RedBurn (talk) 11:26, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Structured Data - computer-aided tagging[edit]

The development team is starting work on one of the last planned features for SDC v1.0, a lightweight tool to suggest depicts tags for images. I've published a project page for it, please have a look. I plan to share this page with everyone on Commons much more broadly in the coming days. The tool has been carefully designed to try to not increase any workload on Commons volunteers; for starters, it will be opt-in for auto-confirmed users only and will not generate any sort of backlog here on Commons. Additionally, the tool is highly privacy-minded for the contributors and publicly-minded for the third party being used, in this case Google. The implementation and usage notes contain more information about these and other potential concerns as a starting place. It's really important that the tool is implemented properly from the start, so feedback is welcome. Questions, comments, concerns are welcome on the talk page and I will get answers as quickly as possible as things come up. On the talk page you can also sign up to make sure you're a part of the feedback for designs and prototype testing. -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 17:57, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion Request Needs Review[edit]

Hi EugeneZelenko You have an open deletion request for a document that I uploaded. I'd be grateful if you would review the nomination page comment. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:GAMBAS_from_Zip.pdf Thanks. Is it current or obsolete currency?[edit]

Good day Sir/Madam! The photo of commemorative coins are no longer available in Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines), thus they are obsolete currencies. On the other hand, the one thousand peso bill photo is a current currency in the Philippines. Jsnueva1022 (talk) 14:44, 22 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please mention this on deletion request page. See also Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Philippines. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:45, 22 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request to certify closure[edit]

Hello Eugene. I hope that this message finds you well. A request has been made at m:SRP#Jcb@commonswiki based on Commons:Administrators/Requests/Jcb (de-adminship 4). I'd appreciate if you or other bureaucrat could sign off the Meta-Wiki request. As far as I remember (and my memory is fragile here so excuse me any mistakes, please) such requests are usually closed by a 'crat and then taken to Meta-Wiki. While it appears prima facie that everything is alright, could you please just confirm that everything is alright indeed? Thanks. Best regards, —MarcoAurelio 15:21, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. Your colleague Krd has assisted me in here. Thanks anyway and sorry for bothering you. Best regards, —MarcoAurelio 16:02, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation file names[edit]

Hi,

You left a message about "Pronunciation file names" on User talk:Vij~frwiki but even myself, a seasoned wikimedian who know the subject, I'm not sure to understand.

You are aware that these files name are created by Lingua Libre and that more than 150 000 files follow the same namming patern, qv. Category:Lingua Libre pronunciation ?

Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 13:48, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I know about Lingua Libre, but is it worth to introduce another naming and category convention? --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:26, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't rally know for the convention (and is the old habit really a "convention"? and how do you deal with non-homophonic homograph with this old habit?) and Lingua Libre follow the old categories. Anyway, my point is: why blaming one specific newcomer user for a thing done by a tool and done more than 150 000 times. If you have concern or question, you should ask them to the LinguaLibra team. Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 14:48, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's interesting why LinguaLibra team didn't try to look onto existing naming conventions. Could you please clarify where did you see blaming? --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:53, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Is there an actual convention? And if so where can I find it? (I know the Lingua Libre team and I can pass it to them). "blaming" as maybe too strong, sorry about that; but still, why sending a message to someone who is not responsible. Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 15:23, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I could not tell if convention was written or not, but file names in pronunciation categories tell enough. I think it's reasonable to point newbies to best practices. Same as in case of SVG, TeX, etc. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:37, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I give up here: I definitely don't understand at all you message "helping" this newcomer. Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 15:45, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, you deleted these screenshots:

File:Croatia-independence-day-2019-google-doodle-animated-gif.gif

And also:

Copyright holder has provided permission for publishing unaltered screenshot of their homepage or search results page for illustrative or instructional purposes. The screenshot meets the criteria for Google product screenshots:

"You don’t need our permission to use an unaltered screenshot of the Google.com homepage (or the search results page) for instructional or illustrative purposes, as long as you follow the guidelines below. This applies for print and digital formats: books, magazines, journals, newspapers, web pages, DVDs, CDs, etc.

Google product screenshots

You may use unaltered screenshots of the homepage or search results page for instructional or illustrative purposes. “Unaltered” means no superimposed graphics, photos, or ad copy on the screenshot, and no changes to the way our product looks. Screenshots of our search results page may not be used in connection with advertising products or services (for instance, showing a top ranking on Google)." - https://www.google.com/permissions/products/

With that permission Commons:Screenshots conditions is satisfied, also usage of the screenshots and their content is trivial. Screenshot showing search bar is part of the Google.com homepage (or the search results page) on specific date, Google Doodle is not isolated from the Google.com homepage or the search bar under the logo. It is not used for marketing nor it is used to imply endorsing of web site by Google. It was deleted as as non-trivial logo.

There are plenty examples of the logos that are currently in use under the category Google logos

Screenshot depicts the article it was taken for, it's purpose is accompanying text in the section of the article, and it unambiguously corresponds with the article content. If needed Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline to the file page can be added.

Please restore deleted files and pages so required "Google and the Google logo are registered trademarks of Google LLC, used with permission." tagline for image featuring a Google product screenshot or data can be added.

Thank you. --Commando76 (talk) 15:16, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed copyright[edit]

I have fixed the copyright on all of the images listed here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_uploaded_by_Curbon7

I have changed the copyright from public domain (which they were) to the more specific Florida state government copyright, which specifies that the owners of all of the images, the Florida Archives and the Florida Senate, are both state organizations whose media is in the public domain. To quote directly: "Florida's Constitution and its statutes do not permit any agency to claim copyright for "public records" unless authorized to do so by law. The following agencies are permitted to claim copyright (as well as trademarks) and any works of these agencies should be assumed to be copyrighted without clear evidence to the contrary:

Florida Department of Transportation – §334.049(1)(a), Florida Statutes (2018) Florida Department of State – §286.031, Florida Statutes (2018) Florida Lottery – §24.105(10), Florida Statutes (2018) Space Florida – §331.305(4), Florida Statutes (2018) Water management districts – §373.608(1), Florida Statutes (2018) Florida Department of Citrus – §601.101, Florida Statutes (2018) Florida state universities and state colleges – §1004.23(1) and §1004.726(1), Florida Statutes (2018)"

Of which, neither of the organizations mentioned are listed above.

I think for works created and published before 1924, you could use {{PD-US}}. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:20, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

About the deletion request of Files_uploaded_by_Dordemuzica[edit]

Hello! File:Mircea_Popa_dirijor.jpg and File:Nicolae_Boboc.jpg are scanned images of photos from my father's archive. I am the owner of the photos after my father's dead and I agree that they can be used by anyone. I cut with a photo editor conducter's M. Popa text and signature, dedicated to my father but if you want, I can replace it with the entire image. The photos are made by amators, being present after a concert in Timisoara.

File:Dinu_Lipatii_si_Corneliu_Gheorghiu.jpg can be deleted, because I made a mistake in the title (Lipatti, not Lipatii). Owners - Mr Gheorghiu's family archive. It was his wish before the recent dead, for posting it on wikipedia, but I don't take the responsability, despite the 70 years after Lipatti's dead.

Removal of Switzerland temperature graph with CC BY 4.0 license[edit]

Hi EugeneZelenko

You have removed the uploaded PDF "Temperaturbeobachtungen Schweiz" from Wikimedia Commons, and left a note "Please send permission for File:Temperaturbeobachtungen Schweiz 1981-2010 Sommer.pdf to OTRS". The PDF is taken from the official website of the Swiss government (the URL was provided when uploading it, it is https://www.nccs.admin.ch/nccs/en/home/data-and-media-library/data/ch2018-web-atlas%20.html ). On that same website, the license is given. It reads:

"NCCS (Pub.) 2018: CH2018 – Climate Scenarios for Switzerland. National Centre for Climate Services, Zurich.

The CH2018 scenario data and CH2018 web atlas graphics are provided under the CC BY 4.0 license.

Among others, this means that users are allowed to share (copy and redistribute) and adapt (remix, transform, and build upon for any purpose, even commercially) the data and graphics, under the condition that proper reference is given to the CH2018 climate change scenarios (see citation above). Please note also that all material is provided without any warranties and guarantees."

I and a more experienced wikipedian have taken care to make the authorship clear when uploading it.

Would you elucidate why this is not sufficient to upload it to the commons?

Производная работа?[edit]

Здравствуйте, коллега. Наткнулся на этот файл File:Evangelion Test Type-01 at the site of Shanghai Metallurgical & Mine Machinery Factory.jpg Dantiras (talk) 19:15, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Я тоже затрудняюсь сказать. Вопрос, получил ли создатель скультуры разрешение от автора аниме или нет. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 21:09, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
В книге рекордов Гиннесса статуя значится за студией Khara, китайцы только на подтанцовке. Так что по документам это абсолютно официальная статуя. Возможно, это стоит как-то отобразить в описании файла, во избежание эксцессов. Zero Children (talk) 11:41, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Думаю, что улучшение описания не помешает. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:27, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

На Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Latvia написано, что нет. Насколько знаю, законы об авторском праве всех стран на территории бывшего СССР писались как под копирку. Могу ошибаться, но только в России и Армении были приняты поправки, разрешающие свободу панорамы. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:57, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion request for File:Hibernensis Addenda Corrigenda.pdf[edit]

As the creator of this page I am not sure why it does not comply with the Wiki Commons guidelines. I don't mind moving it to another Wiki space if you can suggest an appropriate one, but otherwise it should not be deleted. It is a page serving the users of three different editions of the same medieval text, known as the Hibernensis (see Wikipedia entry), most of whom are students and academics, hence the entry has a clear educational purpose. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hibernensis (talk • contribs) 17:27, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This document seems to contains footnotes. Original texts belong to WikiSource and same is true for footnotes from publications in public domain. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:48, 29 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No, the document does not contain footnotes. Also it is not really appropriate for Wikisource, which is meant in the first place for published documents over which no copyright claims are made and which can be reproduced freely. The document that I uploaded has never been published anywhere and was created by me. Hence it s an original document, which complies with Wikicommons stipulations as far as I can tell. --Hibernensis
Sorry, I still think that wiki-text in relevant WMF project is best format for this document. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:52, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What is the relevant WMF project? Please specify. --Hibernensis
What all this text is about? --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:12, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This is a list of additions and corrections to three books (their titles are given in the pdf document) which are frequently used by students of history and by historians of the medieval period. The additions and corrections allow readers to make better use of these books for studying or for research. This is why I think that the document is appropriate for Wiki Commons. --Hibernensis
Such errata make sense for Wikisource (if original books are in public domain), on Wikipedia (if there are articles about book) and Wikiversity (if there are courses based on that books). --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:05, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

92. Response to Matt Talbot deletion Requests[edit]

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Matt_Talbot_shrine_1949.jpg Re: Matt Talbot shrine 1949

Hi, the reproduced photograph is of the shrine created at the spot that Matt Talbot died on Granby Lane in Dublin, Ireland. The photo has been in widespread circulation for decades.

I have endeavoured to obtain information about its origins. The only piece of information I did find out was that it dated to the year 1949. The priest who took the photograph has died and no one is sure from memory that it was exactly that took the picture.

This is the only information I can provide about its creation; if there is a problem about copyrights status and license tags leading to its deletion I understand.

Please take a look on Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Ireland to find out what are criteria for public domain. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:39, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_uploaded_by_Cograng If you believe the 3 pictures are breaking the rules proceed and delete them.

I am a newby at this, so, my transgression was unintentional.

Two information stands are composed from historical photos. It would be OK to keep your photos if all original photos are in public domain. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:39, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Since Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia are, in my understanding, non-profit organizations and not commercial companies, Acer gives permission for these images to be used. The original locations for these images are as follows:

File:Predator Orion 3000 Gallery 01.png https://static.acer.com/up/Resource/Acer/Predator_Minisite/Product_Series/Predator_Orion_3000/Photogallery/20180606/Predator-Orion3000_gallery_01.png
File:Predator Orion 5000 Gallery 01.png https://static.acer.com/up/Resource/Acer/Desktop/Predator_Orion_5000/Photogallery/20180323/Predator-Orion5000_gallery_01.png
File:Predator Orion 9000 Gallery 01.png https://static.acer.com/up/Resource/Acer/Predator_Minisite/Product_Series/Predator_Orion_9000/Photogallery/20171020/Predator_Orion_9000_Gallery_01.png

If this is not sufficient, please let me know what I need to do to get appropriate permission for these images. I'm quite new to this stuff and I would to get better, and avoid issues like this.

Thanks,

Request for rivers the deleted files[edit]

HI,EugeneZelenko this file has deleted by you. If you want to delete any file then please check their author details to search in Google. Recently I have checked that lot of files you have deleted to hi.wikisource.org because of nominated. That guy who had nominated those files for deletion did not Google for author's death date. othervise neither nomination nor deletion will happen if anyone simply Google for author. You have not right to delete other language related files blindly. I request you to please reverse that file's which was deleted by you. नीलम (talk) 05:24, 10 December 2019 (UTC) For example: I am providing list of deleted file and author's death date which are more then 60 year ago and copyright free according to Indian copyright act.[reply]

It's responsibility of uploader to put all necessary information into file descriptions and use correct license tags. Sorry, it's not trivial to find information about books authors when books use Indian script. Old books also may be edited or commented by later authors, so original authors information may be incorrect. Also deletion process provide enough time to fix all problems.
If you are willing to fix all problems on all these files, I could undelete them.

A work derived from many different sources[edit]

Dear Eugene, can you advise us what is the correct syntax of the "source" and "author" parameters in the {{Information}} template? In the case that the derived work (for example image) contains multiple images from different sources.

As far as I know, the {{Own based}} and {{Derived from}} templates can only be used if all sources come from Commons. But how if some sources come from Commons and others don't?

In this case, should one line "source" contain a mix of different templates, URLs, references to literature etc.? And how to list the original authors of these sources among these different sources? And what are the separators between these sources, "|" or ";" or what?

Or should these different sources be listed on different lines of the multiple "source" parameter? In other words, is the "Information" template able to contain multiple "source" lines (parameters)?

Could you please give us some links to examples of such complex derivative works where the Information templates are filled in correctly?

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on Commons for such cases.

Thank you, --Kychot (talk) 05:27, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bombus borealis image[edit]

Dear Eugene, you recently deleted an image of the above mentioned taxon. I cant double check the problem identified as it was inmediately deleted. Cant I use images with a CC 4.0 license in Commons? I want to upload this bombus image now. Regards, Cbrescia (talk) 18:19, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No. Sorry, but CC-BY-NC is incompatible with Commons:Licensing. Same for -ND variants. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 18:22, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Response to Nomination of Pictures Uploaded for Deletion for Wikimedia Norayr Mnatsakanyan[edit]

EugeneZelenko, the photos uploaded are my own work and I provided the exact dates and the location where I produced these photos. It is part of my family archive, and the artist is my father. Please, help me preserve these photos on his Wikimedia page - Norayr Mnatsakanyan. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Noki (talk • contribs) 21:05, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You need to find out information about photographers and ask them to send permission to Commons:OTRS (example: Commons:Email templates). Then you could ask help on Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard with permissions review. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 22:12, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
