I didn't really understand the message you sent above. @MSA-Dim: Since it's unusual for someone to own the rights to all rights to their photographs, I suggest submitting an OTRS request explaining the copyright status for those images. Right now, since it's unclear who the photographer is, there's a 3rd party mentioned in the metadata and there's no evidence that Benjamin Mazatis has released the rights to his photographs. Ciao Ytoyoda. Mi hai lasciato un messaggio nella mia pagina di discussione, riguardo ad un immagine che ho aggiunto. Questa immagine viene utilizzata in siti di immagine non coperte da copyright, dopo un atttenta ricerca non ho trovato da chi è stata creata o dove è stata pubblicata per la prima volta. Questa immagine credo sia di pubblico dominio, vonee usata su siti come Flickr e Pinterest. Potresti aiutarmi a capire cosa ho sbagliato ad aggiungere questa immagine? @TommasoRmndn: There's a LOT of copyrighted material on Flickr and Pinterest. And if you can't find the original photographer or publisher information, I don't think you have any evidence for why it's in the public domain. Ytoyoda (talk) 17:44, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Ytoyoda Ho detto che è di pubblico dominio perchè la fotografia del ritrovo della Gioconda, è stata pubblicata prima del 1978, precisamente nel 1914, quindi supera anche i 95 anni dopo la prima pubblicazione. Ho letto i termini e le condizioni e questo è quello che ho trovato, quindi credo, vista la ricerca che ho fatto anche sul web, che possa esser considerata di Pubblico dominio o comunque utilizzabile. @TommasoRmndn: Hi, I've updated the licensing information. Based on Commons:Copyright rules by territory/France, the copyright would usually expire 70 years after the photographer's death. However, since we don't know the photographer (Roger-Violett is an agency), the copyright (probably( expired in 1984. The Freddy Mercury photo is likely copyrighted though, since it's only about 36 years old. Ytoyoda (talk) 20:53, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

@Ytoyoda: Ciao, l'immagine di Freddie Mercury non è coperta da copyright poichè l'autore è sconosciuto e non si ha la certezza di dove sia stata pubblicata la prima volta. Ho aggiornato la sorgente da dove ho preso il file con una che si sembra maggiormente chiara e più sicura rispetto a Flickr.

Un'altra cosa: non capisco perchè mi hai segnalato la fotografia di Lenin. Quell'immagine è stata presa dall'archivio di fotografie storiche e culturali con sede a Firenze e Londra, dove viene esplicitamente detto che l'autore è sconosciuto e che si ha la possibilità di utilizzare l'immagine. @Ytoyoda: non si ha la certezza di chi sia l'autore dell'immagine e non è chiaro dal 1926 anche perchè questa è la foto originale non la modifica per eliminare Kamenev e Trockij. Hai ragione sul fatto del pubblico dominio, dice solo che può venir utilizzata in vari paesi, quindi credo che il problema si risolverebbe togliendo il CC 0 e aggiungendo CC 4.0 dando i crediti all'archivio e rimando con l'autore anonimo.

Mi puoi dire anche con la fotografia di Freddie Mercury? ho cercato dall'ultima volta che abbiamo parlato e questo è quello che ho trovato, spero vada bene. --TommasoRmndn (talk) 17:05, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

@TommasoRmndn: The photographer is likely Denis O'Regan, a professional concert photographer. I'm pretty certain the photograph is copyrighted. The photo wasn't old enough to be in public domain anyway. Ytoyoda (talk) 17:08, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

@Ytoyoda: Nel suo sito e nel suo archivio non è presente quell'immagine. Non credo che la fonte sia attendibile trattandosi di una pagina facebook. Ad ogni modo ho controllato e non è attribuiti con certezza a nessuno. Comunque ti ripeto, il problema con queste due immagini forse è dire che sono CC0, il problema non c'è se sono sotto voce CC4.0 visto che una è un immagine che viene davvero da un fonte sicura come l'archivio (Lenin) e l'atra un immagine che non ha certezza di autore e viene da un sito di concerti (Freddie Mercury). @TommasoRmndn: You can't assign a CC license just because you're unable/unwilling to find the proper source information. It's the uploader's responsibility to provide the information. And as I mentioned in the deletion request page, even though the source information is from a Facebook post, it matches up with another photograph of the same concert by the same photographer from the same angle. If you disagree, you're welcome to find the actual photographer information. Otherwise, since it's a 1986 photograph, it's still copyrighted even if the photographer is unknown. Please stop assuming copyright doesn't exist when you don't know the photographer. And as for the Lenin photograph, there's nothing at the archive site that says the photograph is in public domain. Please stop assuming things. Anyway, there's no point in arguing but you're welcome to repeat your points at the deletion requests. Ytoyoda (talk) 17:26, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

@Ytoyoda: credo invece che chi dia le cose per scontato sia tu, visto che continui a segnalare immagini che potrebbero stare su wikipedia senza nessun problema. Ho detto che secondo me era di dominio pubblico perchè è un immagine creata nel 1920! Sull'autore ancora non si ha la certezza, ma ad ogni modo questa dovrebbe esser l'immagine che si crede che sia di GP Goldstein, morto nel 1946. Per quando riguarda la fonte che mi hai fatto vedere per l'immagine di freddie mercury non è sicura, ogni persona su facebook può scrivere i crediti che vuole. Denis O'Regan era uno dei fotografi a quel concerto ma se questa immagine non è nel suo archivio o nel suo sito non credo sia possibile supporre che sia sua. Ho detto che poteva esser di dominio pubblico perchè nessuno forse aveva mai richiesto il copyright. Non credo sia corretto. Grazie però --TommasoRmndn (talk) 17:36, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

@TommasoRmndn: The Lenin photo is fine - sorry, the photographer died in 1941 so it's been in the public domain for 10 years (the discussion is for the altered photo without Trotsky). As for the Freddy Mercury photo, sure, it might be someone other than Denis O'Regan. But every photograph is copyrighted unless:

The photographer gives up all rights
The source allows free use and modification of the photograph
The copyright has expired

Here's how it works: if you take a photograph right now, that photograph is automatically copyrighted unless you choose to release it to the public domain. Since we don't know who the copyright owner is, we assume that the photograph is copyrighted until we have more information. You can read more about this at COM:COPYRIGHT. And because we know that the photographer of the Freddy Mercury photograph has not been dead for 70 years, we know that the copyright has not expired. Ytoyoda (talk) 20:16, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

@Ytoyoda: Ok, grazie mille per avermi spiegato tutto. Non volevo essere scortese, scusami se lo sono sembrato. Ti voglio chiedere un ultima cosa: nella pagina https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodstock ho voluto aggiungere l'immagine iconica creata da Burk Uzzle. Volevo utilizzare il "fair use" perchè penso che quell'immagine sia fondamentale ed esprima al meglio il festival spiegato nella pagina. Credo di aver fatto un errore nell'impostazione di quell'immagine, sai dirmi come fare? se posso utilizzarla e come? ho parlato via mail col fotografo (Uzzle) e mi ha detto che potevo utilizzarla ma solo sulla pagina di Woodstock, per quello avevo pensato al "fair use". @Fahriahmad306: Hi, thank you for responding. Honestly, I find it confusing and it's still not obvious how I'm supposed to verify the license. My suggestion would be to go through the process described at COM:OTRS and have the copyright owner contact OTRS or submit your evidence of the licensing to OTRS. And if you want to contest the speedy deletion, you can use the button under the template to convert it to a regular deletion request. Ytoyoda (talk) 14:19, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

@Fahriahmad306: Did he? I don't know if he said that and I don't know that it matters. Please keep in mind that permission to use a photograph on Commons or Wikipedia is not enough. The copyright holder must allow all uses, including commercial sales and modifications, by anyone, anywhere. "Just use the photo" is not a reason to keep the image. Pixabay licensing

I went to the site where the photographer posted the image and saw the site licenses that say this:

@YouKnow23: If the images were actually in the public domain, you’d be allowed to do all those things that the license statement says you can’t. @Bigmike2346: Depends. If you're on the desktop version of YouTube, you can click on the "show more" button under the video and it may or may not tell you if it's licensed under Creative Commons. If it says so, you can use the {{YouTube}} license. If not, then it's copyrighted. Also, keep in mind that many YouTube account repost other people's copyrighted material, so even if the video has a Creative Commons license, you want to be sure that they own the footage. Thank you for following up - the reason why I'm concerned, including about the more recent cropped image, is because compared to the original image, there isn't as much focus on her face. I had cropped the image specifically for the infobox in her article, but if you can copy the cropping in the original image, I wouldn't mind if a higher resolution version is uploaded, and I can figure out how to set the sizes as necessary in other areas of Wikipedia where the image appears. @Rodhullandemu: Hi, thanks for commenting. I suppose you could explain your category moves/removals? Because I don't see anything in the edit summaries. It looks like you mistakenly moved images from Category:Players of Liverpool L.F.C. to Category:Matches of Liverpool L.F.C., then removed the matches category when you saw that you were COM:OVERCATegorising.

Anyway, all those images show Liverpool LFC players. I don't see how they're in misplaced categories when they show Liverpool LFC players. If you like to move those images into more specific player categories, I think that would be wonderful. Ytoyoda (talk) 15:25, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

I've just seen your lone edit note, "This was fine". It was not. The photograph is of a match between Lewes and Liverpool. There may be Category:Players of Liverpool L.F.C. in those images but they are not identified individually. The category, if you look at it, is for identified players. Unless you can seriously argue this, I propose to revert but I need to cool down first. @Rodhullandemu: If you felt insulted because I reverted what I thought were honest, good-faith mistakes, then I ask you to look at your own comments.

Anyway, here's how I understood it: if an image shows a group of players from the same club, the image should be in the individual player categories for the players who can be identified, or placed in the more general "Players of ____" category. And while they're not individually identified, with enough time, the players can be identified and placed in specific categories. It takes a little more time and effort, but it seems far more productive to temporarily put up with a crowded category.

Honestly, I've been editing for over a decade as well, but I wasn't aware of consensus/policy/guideline to not include unnamed/unidentified players in "Players of ___" cats. Ytoyoda (talk) 16:17, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Larry Koester files

Hi there. I noticed you've tagged a few Larry Koester Flickr files as copyvios. I left a message at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Niagara Falls - view from Canada side (21873971170).jpg about perhaps adding this user to the bad Flickr user list. I also found a number of other suspect files at Category:Shoes in the Bata Shoe Museum, some of which I've already nominated, and others which need inspection. If you have the time or inclination, they are:

Some of them were taken using a Panasonic DMC-ZS8, so they were likely all by the same user; whether it was Larry Koester or someone else I don't know yet. Mind matrix 15:52, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Flickr review bot

I think there need to be some improvement to the bot that reviews flickr uploaded images. I got caught in a flickr washing scam because I believed that the Michael Jordan flickr image was of their possession and not copyrighted. I also tried to perform the reverse image search procedures before I uploaded it to find no original source to no avail. When I uploaded the image, the flickr license review bot then verified the license status falsely putting on the facade it was not copyrighted. There needs to be another bot that can act as a safety net against copyright because if I can fall for something like this, imagine a newer user uploading flickr images. @SomeBodyAnyBody05: Hi, I share your frustration about Flickrwashing, but as long as Flickr users are willing to lie (or more likely, don't know how copyright works), you're going to have cases that the Flickrreview bot won't catch. It'll be up to Commons users to see if there are any red flags (I mentioned the low follower count, low-res images, low number of contributions). I know it's frustrating, but that's why the deletion process exists. Also, there is a blacklist of untrustworthy Flickr users that the Flickrreview bot will flag. Is this flickr image legit?

Hey Ytoyoda, I came across this image from flickr of [David Ruffin] and I began uploading it but I wanted to make sure the image was actually not copyrighted material. It looks to be a screenshot from this 1964 live performance of the temptations [2]. Does it look like it has the signs of flickr washing? SomeBodyAnyBody05 (talk) 19:29, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

@SomeBodyAnyBody05: I think it's clear that it's not the work of the Flickr user, so I wouldn't use that as the source. It's likely from a copyrighted broadcast, though there's a chance the copyright has expired. Sorry bother you with this simple questions. But I am facing some problems in understand how things works in wikipedia.

My doubts are mainly about posting, copyrights and communication issues.

I will put those questions in topics so you can understand better.
- How do I delete a page (entry) that I created?
- How do I delete a photo that I inserted in WikiCommons?
- How do I configure privacy conditions? (I would not like to see my name appearing on Google)
- How do I delete my user?
- What happens to the entries published with the user that I intend to delete?

@Felipe Scama: Here’s my best attempt at answering your questions.

If it’s been less than a week since you uploaded a photo or created a page, you can simply add the {{Speedy}} tag and explain that you, as the only person who’s made significant edits, want to delete the photo. If it’s been more than a week, you can start a regular {{Delete}} request and explain your reasons.
You cannot delete your user account. You can change your user name to something that isn’t your real name following the directions at Special:GlobalRenameRequest.

Global rollback

I know this is not the best place to tell but as you left a message on User talk:Anketa Maharana about 5 files missing copyright status, I would like to draw your attention towards fact that the user after uploading these files, went across more than 20 wikipedias and changed the infobox images of those actresses and if these files are deleted all those articles will have no image, So if you know someone who has global rollback then they can undo all the image changes by this user across wikis. -- Parnaval (talk) 10:01, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

Clarification please...

You tagged File:Burning_container_ship_Hyundai_Fortune_yemin-ship-76682.jpg for deletion, asserting it was "missing permission".

I double-checked the archived version and confirmed that, on the right hand side of the image page, about half-way down, it said:

`License: CC0 Public Domain / FAQ` `Free for commercial use / No attribution required`

If I recall correctly ALL Pixabay images were under a free license.

If you did see the cc0 license, and you have a general distrust of Pixabay licensing, have you raised this in a central fora? I don't think challenging the individual licensing of specific images is the right way to express this kind of concern.

If you simply didn't notice the image was under a cc0 license would you please revoke your deletion request?

filing deletion on public domain images

@Hogyncymru: My mistake on the YWCA image. Though why a Creative Commons license (which didn’t exist in 1930) and not {{PD-Australia}}, which is the appropriate license for Australian images with expired copyright? And in the UK, copyright expires 70 years after the death of the creator. 50 years is for works published under Crown Copyright (see: Commons:Copyright rules by territory/United Kingdom). @Samson moses: I don't remember the circumstances, but I think you uploaded an image that was credited to someone else but didn't show any way to verify the license. If you upload someone else's photograph, another user needs to be able to verify the license with a source link that clearly shows the license or an OTRS ticket. If you look at the source for the images I’ve tagged as “no permission”, you’ll see that they have a CC-NC-SA license, which is not allowed on Commons because it does not allow commercial use (there’s also one image that’s marked “copyrighted”) and they’re actually eligible for speedy deletion. Hi, I noticed you left a note on my talk page. If you click on the link of both photos [[4]] I uploaded of the Andaman cobra you'll notice a circle with an "i" at the top right hand corner. @Wackotaku: Isn't File:Mural street art Lukaku Ibrahimović.jpg the image you initially sourced to this YouTube video? If I'm mistaken and it is your photograph, COM:DW and COM:FOP Italy apply and the image is non-free. Anyway, I suggest discussing at Commons:Undeletion requests because there's nothing I can do. Rede do Esporte

Hello! Since I'm using the source rededoesporte.gov.br as the source of Category:Photographs from Rede do Esporte ("All content on this site is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Brazil License.") not the Flickr, these images can be on Commons. The by-nc-nd is only for this program. The only problem from Rede do Esporte is that they don't specify when a source is 3rd party, like what happened here and here.
