Archive?

Where is a link to your archive? It should not be necessary to go to the history to find where the old stuff is. Or did I miss something? /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 12:01, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

If you'd like to link any of my archive-pages here please do so. *g* abf /talk to me/ 14:23, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Image Bunk Bed

I created it. I added the {{PD-self}}. Is that all right now? Miguel Andrade (talk) 09:35, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Please
  1. add {{Information}}.
  2. don't remove the no source template yourself when you are the uploader.
Thanks & Regards, abf /talk to me/ 13:41, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Unwanted renaming

Could you please restore the page Valued_image_set:_Fountain_of_the_Place_Royale_in_Nantes.? What you've done just breaks about everything in the VI project template-generated links. I'm the middle of a not-so-simple procedure that is not yet totally automated... Thanks in advance, --Eusebius (talk) 15:52, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

I just moved it to User:Eusebiu/Valued image set: Fountain of the Place Royale in Nantes. into your user-namespace, because it has nothing to do with an gallery. Regards, abf /talk to me/ 15:57, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
I have moved it back to its own location, where it belongs. The namespace and name are template-generated. Here are the corresponding procedures of the VI project. This is not a personal gallery. Thanks for your understanding. --Eusebius (talk) 16:02, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
What is this kind of result presentation doing in the gallery-namespace? They belong in the Commons-namespace. And another question: why are the images no thumb (as is typical for the FP-gallerys)? Why am I forced to load them that large if I want to see the result? There are users out there who still have no broadband-internet-connection. I don't want to know how long they have to sit until the images are loaded. -- Cecil (talk) 16:17, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Actually, a VI set is considered a gallery (unlike the nomination page, for instance). So I guess your remarks about thumbnail size are sound. However, I've no authority at all to reply in the name of the project. Slaunger is the creator of the VI project and has made the VIS-gallery template, I'll forward your remarks so that he can modify the template to comply better with the Commons guidelines. --Eusebius (talk) 16:26, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
The Valued image sets are technically speaking galleries, albeit they do not have the default appearance nor the default size. They cannot be compared to FP galleries, because the FP galleries has the purpose of giving a possibility to browse for a particular image and be re-directed to its image page for a larger size view and further details if the user is interested. the Valued image set galleries are the image page equivalents of Images. Ideally they would have been in an Set: name space if a such existed . The Valued Image Sets and their organization was discussed very thoroughly in the period Jan-May 2008, see Commons talk:Valued image candidates and its archives for details. Several administrators were involved in that process and the decision to do it this way was based on consensus. No other administrator has ever uttered that they found it strange that the Valued image sets were in the main name space. All Valued image sets follow the naming scheme:
Valued image set:Scope
I think that if they were to be moved to Commons name space (where I very honestly do not think they belong), their page names would be even more verbose:
Commons:Valued image set:Scope
I do not see a point in having such a long page name.
I think the source of confusion may arise by the fact, that there is still a thumb-sized version of the gallery to be created, which comes into action when the Valued image set is transcluded into an overview page (the equivalent of an image gallery for sets). This template has not been made yet, and I am currently busy in real life, and do not think i will have toime to complete this part in the near future. For instance we currently have this text based Valued image set by scope overview:
Commons:Valued image sets by scope
The reason for the larger than normal size of the images, is that these galleries are not so much for browsing, the images as shown in the order and that size constitutes a set. The size is not arbitrary. They are presented in the agreed review size, which reviewers have used to review the set, when it was a Valued image set candidate. they are supposed to be viewed and appreciated as a set of images in this size such as when you see an image page.
The galleries are the promoted equivalents of the candidates review pages formatted in {{VISC}}. On the candidate level, we already have a {{VISC-thumb}} template for transclusion, where the normal gallery size is used.
I therefore disagree on the viewpoint that the valued image sets do not belong in the main name space. It is currently settled in well-established and stable guidelines, that this is the way we do it. It is OK, if you have another opinion, but then please open a thread about it on Commons:Valued image candidates and let the community discuss it.
Thank you, and now back to my wikibreak. -- Slaunger (talk) 19:22, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Uam logo.svg (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland)

Hello,

Please undelete Uam logo.svg file from Commons you have deleted on 25 of May 2008.

It is a logo of Polish public university and as such it falls under category of "governmental symbols". And as stated in Commons:Licensing#Poland:

"According to the Polish Copyright Law of February 4, 1994 (Article 4, case 2) "governmental symbols, documents, materials and signs are not subject to copyrights". (...)

Best regards, -- Grzegorz Dubicki (talk) 13:08, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Can you please proove exactly that logos of universitys are under thatclause? Regards, abf /talk to me/ 20:23, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

What to do???

Please e-mail COM:OTRS with valid permissions if you own the comprehensive copyright. abf /talk to me/ 13:08, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Grüße, abf /talk to me/ 13:09, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Grüße, abf /talk to me/ 13:00, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I frequently find myself more amusing then other people find me. :) --J.smith (talk) 03:05, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

eyelid

What was wrong about this. I can't understand your reasons. All information was the same as at original file, licence was OK., it was only cropped version. Why did you deleted it. Ludmiła Pilecka (talk) 13:44, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

On flickr the license was removed. Of course we normally do not delete if it was confirmed the license was there once, but in this case I saw no possibillity to use the file, because we have better images of eylids so I fulfilled 8in my eyes) the wish of the uploader not to have the file shown under a free license anymore. If you disagree please feel free to restore. Regards and Merry Christmas! abf /talk to me/ 13:48, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
I made this cropping just because IMHO there are no better images of it. So I will restore it. Merry Christmas :-) Ludmiła Pilecka (talk) 13:52, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
No problem for me :) Merry Christmas! abf /talk to me/ 13:57, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Deleted KML

I see on December 20 you deleted File:Gerard, Indiana 1878.png/overlay.kml. Files of this kind are normally used by Template:Overlay; their creation and use is more fully described at Commons:Geocoding/Overlay. Could you please restore this file? Thank you. ABF is taking a short break, I think it would be faster if you go to This page. Or you have to wait till after christmas.
Merry Christmas,
Abigor talk 16:25, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Restored for now even if I still do not understand the use of the page completely. I have still not completly understood my new hardware, so I do not have the time to review the case clearly by now. Merry Christmas! abf /talk to me/ 17:39, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the Christmas review!

Hi ABF/Archive/2008/December. I would like to thank you for the interest you have shown in my request for adminship, and for the time you have taken to review my profile. As a Christmas present I've just been given the admin tools, for which I'm thankful as well. I have understood all the remarks that have been made during the review period. I will take them into account and begin using the tools with much care, until I gain more experience and self-confidence. Thanks again, and Merry Christmas! --Eusebius (talk) 15:12, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

I am sure you will do a great job.Merry Christmas! abf /talk to me/ 15:30, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Hope so! See you around, --Eusebius (talk) 15:47, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Happy Christmas. You deleted this because it was lacking a category, and it now leaves a hole in en:Wiki. Could you undelete it and I'll fix the cat? Thanks. --Rodhullandemu (talk) 19:54, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

It was not lacking a category, but the required permission in the COM:OTRS. Untill this permission arrives there's no way to undelete. Sorry and merry christmas to you, too. abf /talk to me/ 19:56, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello,

Thank you very much for your fix. I didn't notice it. :)

Have a nice evening, Abigor talk 21:59, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

No problem and nice evening for you, too. abf /talk to me/ 22:03, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Please

Hi! I've seen you have deleted a logo of a football club. I've found more logos and maybe you could delete those also, thanks: File:Penya.PNG and File:Cpsanvi.jpg. Best wishes. --Millars (talk) 13:26, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

✓ Done. Regards, abf /talk to me/ 13:28, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Small request

Hi! Can you delete this image? I'm an author and after vectorizing this graphic I realized there is no need to host it any more. Patrol110 talk 16:12, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome. :) abf /talk to me/ 16:17, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Please remove the deletion tags on File:General Fan Hanjie.jpg. One goes bananas here on commons waiting months and months with absolutely no response... Thanks. Jidanni (talk) 04:29, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

I am involved in the deletion-request, so I won't decide anything. abf /talk to me/ 10:57, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

What do you recommend I do? How long should I sit tight for? How many more months will this take, do you estimate? If I wait another month and nothing happens, what should I do? Thank you. Jidanni (talk) 04:33, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Wait is the only thing you can do. I can't say how long it needs, but it will be done somewhen. Sorry & regards, abf /talk to me/ 08:53, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Escudo Villarreal CF

Hola!

I cant understand that language. Sorry. abf /talk to me/ 18:57, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
After I found some help in IRC I now know in parts what this is supposed to mean. Reply: Please read COM:FAIRUSE. The image you uploaded was a logo of a football-club. And yes, you where informed about that on your talkpage. Regards, abf /talk to me/ 21:50, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

¿¿¿????

¿Porque has borrado los escudos? Why have you removed the logos? Hello,

It was back on my watchlist because of your reaction. I would like to say I already stepped out the discussion and didn't respond anymore because I didn't like the way it was going. But there are no hard feelings from my side in that case against Pieter. It happened and I am doing what I do, and I respect all judgment about me from other people. :)
