Blackfriday23456: The filter worked as intended. As the error message you received explained, we don't host any articles on this site. And no Wikimedia project hosts "crazy" vanity articles about you and your friends. You can put that stuff on a blog or social media instead. LX (talk, contribs) 08:56, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

Shadowrules: The filter you encountered prevents low-resolution uploads from newly registered users using the particular upload form that you used. The reason for this is that those overwhelmingly turn out to be copyright violations. If you did indeed personally create this photo, the expectation is that you should be able to provide a full-resolution version rather than the 640×360 pixel miniature version that you tried to upload. Based on the file description, you should probably also read Commons:Derivative works (specifically the section on depictions of copyrighted toys). LX (talk, contribs) 10:03, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

  • Edit kind: I was trying to upload a portrait of a person in the article. The picture is old and blurry, but the only one existing. The whole article is about civilians who died during WW2 in the region. There will be about 50 portraits similar to the one blocked by the filter. It is essential that we can upload those pictures. The Wikipedia page is referring (and made) to a new monument in "Badeparken" in Drøbak.

If not, the filter worked as intended. Also, what do you mean by "we"? Is that pluralis maiestatis, or is your account used by more than one person? LX (talk, contribs) 17:49, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

Also note that we generally do not need you to upload photographs of yourself. If you are planning to contribute actively to a Wikimedia project, you may upload a small number of personal photographs for use on your user page, but if all you want to do here is to promote yourself (and so far, it looks like that is your only reason for being here), then we don't need that. None of the filter log links you provided have any entries, and in any case, you cannot upload anything unless you are registered and logged in, which you are not.
But searching through all the entries in the log, I'm guessing you may be Drarbib (talkcontribsblock logfilter log) who tried to upload File:Lyophyllum littoralis.jpg (histlogsabuse log) (and later successfully uploaded it. If so, the filter you encountered prevents low-resolution uploads from newly registered users using the particular upload form that you used. The reason for this is that those overwhelmingly turn out to be copyright violations.
Unfortunately, because of the number of copyright violations, the filter has had to be defined quite broadly, meaning it sometimes stops uploads that aren't copyright violations. And unfortunately, instead of getting rid of the flawed upload form and directing users here to Commons (which the overwhelming majority of volunteers here would prefer), the Wikimedia Foundation thinks that leading users down this blind alley is a good idea. Your contribution is appreciated, so I'm glad you figured out how to upload files directly here. I hope this hasn't been too discouraging. Cheers, LX (talk, contribs) 23:32, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
Yeah i figured it out eventually, sorry for making a fuss. drarbib — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drarbib (talk • contribs) 05:40, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
@Drarbib: Signing your posts on talk pages is required by Commons:Signatures policy. To do so, simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and a timestamp will then automatically be added when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). Thank you.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 05:53, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

  • Edit kind: Basically, I was trying to delete 2 of 3 comments on the Talk page for the Wikimedia commons page, "Women" for being useless/in bad faith/vandalism. In case the reasons why I thought these comments should be removed is useful, I included those at the end.

The error message I got stated: "An automated filter has identified this edit as potentially unconstructive, and it has been disallowed. If this edit is constructive, please report this error."

I was doing this because these two comments were just about (1) requesting porn, and, (2) requesting more photos of "little girls" be added, which is fine, but then joking(?) about how this would be good for "kiddie-diddlers." These old comments are useless, even as records, but I did hesitate, at first, to just remove them. Then I went and asked advice in the IRC, and was directed that deleting from Talk pages for these sorts of reasons is ok, and that it is permitted to remove comments from Talk, to reference the definition of vandalism, and to "be bold".

Please allow me to make my edit.

@Ethimolegia: I think the first comment on Talk:Woman was effectively rebutted, if unsigned. I removed the second as vandalism. I hope that helps you.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 01:28, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for removing the vandalism. I'd kept trying to complete my original edit (removing both) until noticing your message/comment here. the c (copyrights) on the fifty coin marked AOCS Approved c These coins were contracted by the Republic of Texas to stamp them from aocs. I will have to ask the full name. The copyright may be owned by the republic of Texas though, The designs were done by an individual within the republic, I will have to ask what his name is. I will get back to you on this question with names. I photographed the coins Thursday 10th 2019 January. Photos taken in Stephens county, Texas, also considered Milam county by the rT. Jeff, in regard to the copyrights; The republic of Texas started contracting with a company that was the AOCS back in 2011. That company was ran out of business in Dallas where the republic lost 960.00 on that deal. AOCS copyrights are null and void(needs verification) as the company was run out of business. How do I find out by whom? How do I research the AOCS Company and any copyrights related to this? The republic of Texas now uses another mint. Could you please show me how to cross link to and from Wikipedia and Wikimedia? Suijur, sui juris 22:36, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
@Suijur: I already interwiki linked to English Wikipedia article en:Republic of Texas above using syntax "[[:en:Republic of Texas]]". Two other ways are w:Republic of Texas (no initial colon needed) and Republic of Texas using syntax "[[w:Republic of Texas]]" and "{{w|Republic of Texas}}". The links you tried above would then be en:American Open Currency Standard and en:United States House Financial Services Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology. From English Wikipedia, the link to your user page here would be c:User:Suijur (which works here but is redundant).   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 02:26, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
That's a beautiful thing, that shorthand stuff. I knew it had to be 21st century/easy. Thanks. Now with that informatin I posted above, can the image descriptions and copyrights be amended? I will give it try, I amended the description on one of them showing a 'no description tag'. I am more concerned with the copyright AOCS stamped on the coin. @APS Sport: Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/153 by trying to cross-wiki upload a smaller (<50KB or <5MP) jpg logo as a new user while leaving the summary intact. The logo you tried to upload is smaller, and you said it's your own work. Usually when someone uploads a smaller logo, it's a copyright violation taken from the web. Please upload the full-size original of it, including EXIF metadata, but it may be judged too complex to be under TOO in the country of origin, so you may need to have the logo designer/photographer send permission via OTRS with a carbon copy to you because we don't allow Fair Use here. If you want to use the file on English Wikipedia, please read WP:F. If you change the summary or use our Upload Wizard instead, you should be able to avoid that filter. Also, please choose a better name.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 07:47, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

I do this sort of tagging all the time, and haven't been prevented by this feature ever before. I removed 6 categories and the CheckCat template, and replaced 4 categories with more specific subcats. No reason given by the filter, it just merely called my edit "potentially unconstructive".

  • Further comments
The filter in question is 182 and the specific action triggering it is trying to replace Category:Documents associated with the American Civil War with Category:American Civil War cartoons. The filter looks like it shouldn't trigger on users in sysop user group or accounts older than 14 days but here we are. --Pitke (talk) 21:20, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

Report by Rhadamante

  • Report by: Rhadamante (talkcontribsblock logfilter log)
  • Page name: Category:Perpétua Almeida (histlogsabuse log)
  • Edit kind: I was trying to create this person category, with classic elements (place of birth, occupation, party, functions). The addition of the category "R ecipients of the O rder of M erit for D istinguished Services", which was initially on File:Deputada Perpétua Almeida.jpg, seemed to be the problem. The only description of the filter blocking was "HHubi Vandal"
  • Comments: It was a serious pain in the ass to find this page. Absolutely nothing from the block warning notice allows to come here. I only found it because I know a little bit the system, being myself a sysop on fr:. And there is also no link leading here from this page https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:AbuseFilter. I had to go the fr: equivalent I know, and THEN follow the interproject link.
Edit: Even worse, the automated Error reporting did not work. I had to come back on the submitted report, and manually copy and paste this message using the old form. Seriously?
Edit2: When I tried to put a link to the category "R ecipients of the O rder of M erit f or D istinguished Services", to this complaint message, I was ALSO blocked in publishing this message. Even without the link, just the plain name was enough to be blocked, I had to add this stupid extra spaces to go through. SERIOUSLY?!? Rhadamante (talk) 01:33, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

@EggOfReason: Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/4 by trying to import using the new ImportFile tool, one step of which is blanking a page. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to do that yet because you have neither the "autopatrol" user right nor 200 edits on Wikimedia Commons. I have asked for that user right via the Autopatrolled group at COM:RFR#EggOfReason on your behalf.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 19:39, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

@Ivan Goiano: Olá e seja bem vindo.
Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/153 by trying to cross-wiki upload smaller (<50KB or <5MP) jpg images as a new user while leaving the summary intact. Each jpg image you tried to upload is smaller, and you said it's your own work. Usually when someone uploads smaller images, they are copyright violations taken from the web. If you made the images yourself, please upload the full-size original of them, including EXIF metadata. If you did not make the images, please see Commons:Licensing for why we can't accept them, and have the copyright holder(s) license them on your website or send the images and permissions via OTRS with carbon copies to you. If you change the summary or use our Upload Wizard instead, you should be able to avoid that filter. Also, other filters worked as intended. We do not host articles or new advertising here on Wikimedia Commons per COM:NOT and COM:ADVERT, and your attempts at blanking were not nice. Also, please read pt:WP:U1.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 01:13, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
