Request for flood flag for User:PMG

I am heavy user of Depictor and Wikicrowd (328k+ decisions on Depictor, some number on Wikicrowd). All of this is manual work. Sometimes (when there are similar photos) I am using AC/DC gadget to mass mark photos. @Mike Peel: suggested that I should request "flood flag" on Commons. Usually I can make 15k edits per month (here is my counter). But 40-90k is not impossible. As I understand it can mess users watchlists - so thats why I am requesting flood flag. My experience: I have highest number of edit on pl.wiki (link) where I usually I have flood flag (but I am admin on pl.wiki so I can turn this on by myself). I was also admin on Wikidata. I request for flood flag without end date. PMG (talk) 12:10, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

Just to note: this is common on Wikidata, I don't know about here. See d:Wikidata:Flood flag. It normally needs a separate account just for 'flood' actions. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 12:36, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
@PMG: Could you make those edits as MalarzBOT?   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 12:42, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
No, I don`t have bot account (on pl.wiki first human = nonbot account is mine and its on 12th position on list). PMG (talk) 12:45, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
You say the edit amount can mess users watchlists. How does the flood flag help to avoid that? --Krd 12:47, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
As far as I know when user have flood flag turn on his/her edits are "shown" like bot edits - so when user have "dont show bots edits" turned on then he/she will also not see edits that are made from account with "flood flag". PMG (talk) 14:36, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
Just the flag for your account would not be enough. The tool also has to mark the edits as bot edits. But I do not think that this is needed here anyway. Doing similar with cat-a-lot is very common and not marked as bot edit. GPSLeo (talk) 14:51, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
We don't have such right set on commons, and as it is actually setting the bot flag for the user, creation would require community consensus. I think it is ok to continue with the normal user account. --Krd 16:52, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
Ok, thank you for information, I will continue my edits as before. Have a good day. PMG (talk) 17:47, 7 January 2023 (UTC)

Request for translation admin rights

Hi! I'd like to request translation admin rights for my work supporting Wikimedia Ukraine's projects, such as Wiki Loves Earth. I have a basic understanding of how the extension works and have had & used these rights on Wikimedia Ukraine's wiki, as well as (in my volunteer capacity) on Wikimania wiki. Request for translation admin rights

Hi, I'm working on this year's POTY and having translation admin rights for the next ~2 months would help me bug AntiCompositeNumber less. I have a decent understanding of the translation markup and I'll ask for help from other TAs when I'm not sure. Thanks! Legoktm (talk) 01:29, 26 March 2023 (UTC)

  •  Support Legoktm has been handling most of the translation markup for POTY themselves, only needing me to click the button when they're done. Giving them TA access would simplify the process. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 01:38, 26 March 2023 (UTC)

✓ Done Added for an indefinite period of time—let us know if you feel you no longer require the flag. Many thanks for helping with this year's POTY. odder (talk) 10:39, 26 March 2023 (UTC)

Andre Carrotflower

Hello, please see Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems#User:Andre Carrotflower; there I am requesting at least a temporary suspension of this user's administrative powers due to misuse. ɱ (talk) 17:24, 16 April 2023 (UTC)

There is no policy that allows suspension of admin rights by bureaucrats. If the user is misbehaving, they can be blocked, or a de-admin vote can be initiated if prerequisites are met. --Krd 06:33, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
That's unfortunate, I think all user rights should be able to be suspended if abused, no? ɱ (talk) 14:49, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
I think I have pretty much answered the question, haven't I? --Krd 15:47, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
You said we currently have no system to do that, but I was stating surprise and hope that such a system could be implemented. I think more checks and balances are needed; blocks and de-admin votes would be for much more extreme issues than a suspension of user rights would be. ɱ (talk) 15:53, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
I can see this is not going anywhere, and the issue with the user is nearly fully resolved. They do however need to continue undeleting, as the administrator consensus agreed for them to do. Right now it appears they are waiting for deletion discussions to end in order to continue. ɱ (talk) 15:55, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
You are free to propose any such policy, but it in in no way in scope of this noticeboard. --Krd 16:45, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
@Krd: After some back and forth in the ANU complaint it seems that Andre Carrotflower doesn't want their admin rights anymore, or for that to further contribute to the project. So can the rights be removed without there having to be a specific proposal or vote for it to happen? Thanks. --Adamant1 (talk) 04:00, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
Of course they can request their own right to be removed. Krd 14:14, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
@Krd: , unless I'm missing something more recent, the community gave a consensus allowing bureaucrats to alter administrator rights here, and that functionality was thus implemented here. I'm not sure what else needs to happen, and it very much seems to be in the scope of this noticeboard to request a bureaucrat use one of their community-granted abilities. ɱ (talk) 14:20, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
The crats have the technical ability to remove the administrator flag, but may not do this out of process. Ymblanter (talk) 14:55, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
Should we request adding it to a policy somewhere then? There was a clear community consensus that this should be an ability, I would expect that would be enough to allow a user to request its use. ɱ (talk) 15:31, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
The deadmin policy is at: Commons:Administrators/De-adminship. Asked and answered. --Krd 16:04, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
Krd, now this user wants someone to remove his admin rights, as he resigned his role, and feels it's others' responsibility to actually enact that change. See User talk:Andre Carrotflower#Admin box. Now is there a way to do this besides what Andre calls a "Byzantine bureaucratic process"? ɱ (talk) 00:31, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
I would consider a bureaucrat removing the abilities of a resigned admin as an in-process move, right? I think we might otherwise have multiple policies that need to be worked on to remove unnecessary red tape. ɱ (talk) 00:34, 25 April 2023 (UTC)

this is a completely clear resignation. It would be quite a waste of time and effort to have to do a formal poll for de-adminship. - Jmabel ! talk 04:44, 25 April 2023 (UTC)

Translations

I would like to help and translate English Wikipedia pages to Hungarian. I want to witness that the number of translated/posted pages will surpass one million. I want to to create new pages in Hungarian as well as correct some whenever applicable. I live in the United States for almost 15 years and I have a vast vocabulary to use for this purpose. Please let me know. Best, Tamas Wiki-tom76 (talk) 11:22, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

Please advise what is your exact request. Krd 14:02, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
@Wiki-tom76: I think you are on the wrong board. For articles, you have to refer to the relevant Wikipedia project. Questions for the Hungarian Wikipedia can be posted to hu:Wikipédia:Kocsmafal. Thanks, Yann (talk) 14:16, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

Translation admin request for OwenBlacker

I'd like to request translationadmin privileges on Commons; I already have translationadmin on Meta. I would like these privs in order to be able to use the translate extension on some content for the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, especially Queering Wikipedia. In particular QW2023 was entirely bilingual and some its content may be translated more widely. It would be useful to use the translation extension to do that rather than having verbose text in multiple languages in sequence down the screen. The QW2023 Schedule is probably the most complex example of translation markup I have created myself, if you need a reference for my competence. Thanks! — OwenBlacker (talk; please ping me in replies) 13:04, 3 June 2023 (UTC)

Please change your signature to point to local user/talk pages, not English Wikipedia. Krd 13:30, 8 June 2023 (UTC)

Translation admin request for Robertsky

Hi, I'd like to request for translate admin perms on Commons. I have translate admin perms on Meta as well as have done translate admin work on wikimania wiki. I would like to utilise the perms for Wikimania 2023-related pages, i.e. Commons:Wiki Loves Living Heritage in Singapore, as well as doing updates on pages relating Singapore (an extension would be also ESEAP related pages) that are marked for translations when I encounter them. I had prepared meta:Wikimedians of Singapore User Group as part of the approval process on meta, and also the WLLHSG page on commons was also prepared by me. Thanks. Request for temporary ui-admin and sysop right for Adiutor integration

Hello everyone, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request temporary interface administrator and administrator rights for the purpose of integrating and deploying the Adiutor tool to Wikimedia Commons. I would like to have these privileges for a duration of one week. You can find comprehensive information about Adiutor through this link. I believe that having these privileges will greatly assist in the successful adaptation and deployment of Adiutor, and I am committed to ensuring a smooth and efficient process throughout the integration. Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to your positive response. Best regards. 𝗩𝗶𝗸𝗶𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿 17:56, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

@Vikipolimer, Thanks for notifying us. Your contributions for Adiutor improved many Wikis. We can use this tool here also, it would be very beneficial because tagging and reporting process is hard in Commons. I am pinging bureaucrats in order to evaluate this request: @99of9, @Ellin Beltz, @EugeneZelenko, @Jameslwoodward, @Krd, and @Odder. Kadı Message 18:11, 1 September 2023 (UTC) (Moved from Village Pump)
We use Aduitor in most Wikipedia versions, especially Turkish Wikipedia. It should definitely be featured on Commons because of the up-to-date support, quick feedback, and convenience provided. Our work will be greatly facilitated. Kurmanbek💬 08:02, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
I think this should be granted as requested if no objection arises until tomorrow evening. --Krd 09:04, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
@Krd, Could you give the rights to @Vikipolimer for one week? We are working together for adapting Adiutor here. No objection arised. Kadı Message 17:10, 3 September 2023 (UTC)

Request for translation administrator right

Hello, I'd like to request for translation admin rights. Bangla WikiMoitree will be running Commons:Wiki Loves Bangla 2023 photo competition, I'll helping them with adding markup for page translation.
