Esta é uma lista de fontes ruins, assim chamadas por inicialmente parecerem usáveis no Commons, mas em uma inspeção mais minuciosa não serem usáveis ou serem mesmo contraditórias. As imagens de algumas dessas fontes devem ser marcadas com as predefinições {{subst:nld}} ("sem licença") ou {{subst:npd}} ("sem permissão"). As imagens então marcadas serão colocadas numa subcategoria adequada de Category:Unknown.

Lista de fontes ruins
- Alchetron combines Wikipedia articles with mostly non-free and frequently misidentified images grabbed from the Internet. There is a "CC BY-SA" notice at the bottom of every page, but this refers only to the text from Wikipedia, not the images. Clicking on an image on the site provides a "source" in the form of a "Visit Page" link, which is actually just a deeplink to the image file.

- At first sight uploading on Commons seems to be OK: the sites mention "Free license", "Attribution is required", "allowed for use on commercial and personal projects, for an unlimited number of times and without any time limits, anywhere of the world". But that is misleading. It turns out that in the Terms of use "commercial" and "use" are very severely restricted, not OK for Commons. GM Media Online photos
- Enquanto eles afirmam licenciar suas imagens sob a licença Creative Commons Attribution, a página que liga a isso adiciona outras diversas restrições, nomeadamante,

- Apesar de o texto da licença ter um link a partir de sua página, a intenção é claramente de permitir o uso não-comercial, sem derivados, o que não é aceitável no Commons. Mesmo se um link para a licença CC-BY invalidasse essas restrições declaradas parece mais legal do que estamos qualificados para lidar, além disso, mesmo que este se inclinar a nosso favor, também seria bom respeitar a intenção dos detentores dos direitos autorais, ao invés de tentar pegá-los em tecnicalidades legais como esta.

IMFDB
- While the site ( http://imfdb.org ) clearly has an overall wiki-inspired design and mechanics that leads many to believe it conforms to the same GFDL or CC BY-SA or free content licensing as Commons, that is NOT the case in reality. The problem is twofold:
- The photos taken by the site's admin (MPM2008) are certainly not freely licensed, and this author is known to go to great length to protect his copyrights. Also, it should be noted that not all of his photos carry any watermark and/or any copyright notice. These are certainly not suitable for Commons.
- On the other hand, the site's admins are very lax concerning other people's copyrights-while some files ARE really PD or freely licensed, most (excluding MPM2008's works) are grabbed from random sources (like press images or similar) and in most cases WITHOUT any attribution. It is also a common practice there to overwrite PD or freely licensed files with NON-free files of larger resolution while leaving the former file's attribution notice intact, causing users to believe the new file is also free, when in fact that is not the case...
- Either way, these files seem 100% unsuitable for uploading here.
- This site's license prohibits selling, licensing, sublicensing, renting, transfering or distributing of images without alterations. But modified images are free (including using for commercial purposes and using without attributing the original author). However, there is no information, if the license is revocable.
Mynewsdesk.com
- Mynewsdesk.com is a site for marketers and promotional uploaders. Its default license is a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, but this is not adequately understood by their uploaders, who frequently post images for which they do not own the rights to release under the Creative Commons license. Consensus is to avoid using the site.
Netherlands Ministry of Defence
- Segundo Commons:Deletion requests/Incorrect PD Netherlands (government works), não é permitido o uso comercial das imagens deste site. Portanto, embora pareça ser permitido aqui como obras do governo, não entram no escopo Commons por COM:SCOPE#Non-allowable licence terms.

- Photos and videos on Pexels are mostly published under the Pexels Licence which applies non-commercial (NC) restrictions. It also states "Don't redistribute or sell the photos and videos on other stock photo or wallpaper platforms". Therefore Pexels media are ineligible for use on Commons. The Pexels Terms of Service do state that some images were published under a {{Cc-0}} licence — such images would be allowed on Commons, but apparently this only applied to images that were published on Pexels prior to 4 July 2018.

- Parece consistir principalmente de envios por pessoas que não têm a autoridade para licenciar os direitos autorais, ou liberar o conteúdo em domínio público. O site também não retém bons metadados para fonte. Cláusula 6.1 do Termos de Uso (última revisão em 13 June 2011) permite ao participantes do site marcarem seus arquivos como privado ou excluí-los, o que é declarado ter o efeito de encerrar a licença para a reutilização dos arquivos por outras pessoas.

- Eles usam (para seu próprio trabalho) a licença CC-by-nc-nd , (sem uso comercial, sem obras derivadas), que não é compatível com a Wikimedia Commons.
skyscrapercity.com
- SkyscraperCity (por vezes referido como SSC) é um fórum para que os usuários enviem imagens (muitas vezes o conteúdo é original, por vezes, violação de direitos autorais do Flickr etc). Nenhum licenciamento livre é necessário para enviar, então a menos que um licenciamento compatível seja declarado explicitamente no fórum, ou a imagem é de domínio público, devido à idade, um email OTRS ao detentor do copyright será necessário.
Stock.Xchng

- Imagens do Stock.xchng (sxc.hu) não são permitidas na Wikimedia Commons, a menos que explicitamente licenciada sob uma licença livre. De preferência, essas permissões são registradas em OTRS. Todas as imagem do Stock.xchng que não tenham sido lançadas de forma independente sob uma licença livre estão sujeitas a eliminação rápida desde 1 de julho de 2007. U.S. National Laboratories
- Embora estes são comumente assumidos como projetos do Governo Federal dos Estados Unidos, são na verdade operados por empresas contratadas pelo governo, logo existe uma reserva de direitos autorais sobre suas obras. - O site afirma que as imagens estão em Domínio Público, embora são protegidas por direitos autorais. veja também Commons:Deletion requests/File:773ER Pakistan.jpg (em inglês).
World Stadiums
- O site afirma que você pode usar qualquer uma de suas imagens (que possuem marca d'água), enquanto feitas referências ao site deles.[8] Também não permite modificações nas imagens, o que supostamente significa que ninguém pode remover sua marca d'água. O ponto chave é que nenhuma das imagens hospedadas no World Stadiums pode ser determinado como livre de direitos de autor. Eles não atribuem os autores das fotos. A maioria de suas fotos são violações de direitos autorais (tomadas a partir de fóruns, sites oficiais, varreduras de revistas e jornais etc): cópias cortadas e redimensionadas de imagens protegidas por direitos autorais. Outras são versões de imagens licenciadas sob Creative Commons ShareAlike redimensionadas, mas a World Stadiums não atribui licenciadores, conforme exigido pela licença.
