Ezen a listán azon rossz források láthatóak, amelyek ugyan elsőre a Commons számára használhatónak tűnnek, azonban mélyebben vizsgálva nem használhatóak vagy önellentmondásos; az innen származó fájlokat a {{subst:nld}} („nincs licenc”) vagy a {{subst:npd}} („nincs hozzájárulás”) sablonokkal kell megjelölni. A művelettel az állományok bekerülnek a Kategória:Ismeretlen megfelelő alkategóriájába.

Rossz források listája
Alchetron
- Az Alchetron a Wikipédiáról származó cikkeket az internetről származó nem szabad és hibás forrású képekkel teszi közzé. Ugyan a lapok alján a „CC BY-SA” licencjelölés szerepel, de ez csak a Wikipédiáról származó szöveges tartalomra, és nem a képekre vonatkozik. A képre kattintva megjelenik egy „View Page” hivatkozás, az azonban a kép eredeti helyére mutat, és nem a forrásinformációkra.

- Mások tulajdonában álló képernyőképeket tesznek közzé {{Cc-by-sa-3.0-nl}} licenc alatt.
Flags of the World
- Az oldal szerzői jogi irányelvében számos elfogadhatatlan korlátozás található:
- …az anyag csak nem-kereskedelmi és nem-politikai célra használható fel
- ha az oldalunkról letöltött fájlokat interneten kívül (például floppyn vagy CD-n) tárolod, akkor a tárolót nem értékesítheted
- a weblap képeinek és tartalmainak maximum 5%-át használhatod fel
- a képeket és a szöveges tartalmakat semmilyen módon sem változtathatod meg
Nyomos indok (példa) nélkül ne tölts fel erről az oldalról származó képeket.
- At first sight uploading on Commons seems to be OK: the sites mention "Free license", "Attribution is required", "allowed for use on commercial and personal projects, for an unlimited number of times and without any time limits, anywhere of the world". But that is misleading. It turns out that in the Terms of use the terms "commercial" and "use" are very narrowly defined, making this not OK for Commons. - A használati feltételek szigorúak:

- A képek nem illeszthetők be (más) gyűjteményekbe. (németül:„Die Bilder dürfen nicht in Bildersammlungen einverleibt werden.”)
- Ez csak kettő azon bizonyítékok közül, melyek szerint az oldal nem használható forrás.
GM Media Online fotók
- Habár állításuk szerint a képek Creative Commons Nevezd meg! licenc alatt állnak, további korlátozások is érvényesek:
- A képek hirdetésre, marketingre vagy egyéb kereskedelmi célra való felhasználása tiltott. A fotók megvághatóak, viszont más módon nem változtathatóak meg, és mindegyiknek tartalmaznia kell a jogtulajdonosra utaló „© GM Corp” sort.
- A szerzői jogi információk ellenére egyértelmű, hogy egy kereskedelmi felhasználást és módosítást tiltó (és szerzőmegjelölést előíró) licencre gondoltak, ami a Commons számára elfogadhatatlan. Hogy a CC BY licencre való hivatkozás érvényteleníti-e ezeket a korlátozásokat, az egy finomabb jogi kérdés, mint amire fel vagyunk készülve; továbbá még ha érvényteleníti is, illik tiszteletben tartani a jogtulajdonosok szándékait jogászkodás helyett.

IMFDB
- Habár a weboldal (http://imfdb.org) wikikinézetű és működése alapján is az hihető, hogy tartalma GFDL, CC BY-SA vagy egyéb, a Commonson is elfogadott szabad licenc alatt áll, a valóságban ez NEM így van. A probléma kétrétű:
- Az oldal vezetője (MPM2008) által készített fotók egyértelműen nem szabad licencűek, a szerzőről pedig köztudott, hogy bármikor kész kiállni saját szerzői jogaiért. Emellett érdemes megjegyezni, hogy nem minden fotón található vízjel vagy szerzői jogi információ, így ezek sem használhatók fel a Commonson.
- Másfelől az oldal adminisztrátorai elég lazán kezelik a szerzői jogi feltételeket, mialatt egyes állományok VALÓBAN közkincsek vagy szabad licencűek; többségük (MPM2008 alkotásait kivéve) az Internetről véletlenszerűen lettek kiválasztva (például sajtófotók), a legtöbb esetben a szerző megnevezése NÉLKÜL. Bevett praktika a közkincs vagy szabad licencű fájlok NEM-szabad verzióval vagy magasabb felbontású változattal való felülírása; mivel az eredeti fotó is elérhető marad, a felhasználók azt hihetik, hogy az új változat is szabad felhasználású, pedig nem…
- Akárhogy is, ezek a fájlok biztosan nem használhatóak fel itt.

- Az oldal licence tiltja a képek eredeti változatainak eladását, értékesítését és továbbértékesítését, bérbe- vagy átadását, valamint terjesztését; azonban a módosított fájlok szabadon felhasználhatóak akár kereskedelmi célokra is a szerző megnevezése nélkül, viszont nincs arra vonatkozó információ, hogy a licenc visszavonható-e.
Mynewsdesk.com
- A mynewsdesk.comot hirdetési és promóciós célokra használják; alapértelmezett licence a Creative Commons Nevezd meg! – Így add tovább!, viszont a feltöltők nem mindig vannak tisztában ezzel, így jogvédett képek is feltöltésre kerülnek CC-licenc alatt. (A kapcsolódó közösségi megbeszélés)
Hollandia Védelmi Minisztériuma
- A hibás PD Netherlands címkék miatt az oldal képei kereskedelmi célokra nem használhatóak fel. A lap fotói esetleg elfogadhatóak kormányzati alkotásokként, azonban a Commons:Projekt témája#Tiltott licencfeltételek szerint kívül esnek a projekt témáján.
Official PSD
- "A community of graphic artists creating and sharing free raw image files!" - that's the slogan. The website is intended as non-commercial but they also allow for CC BY licensing. Regrettably they take their slogan's "creating" with a grain of salt. For example, Vince-Carter-Magic-PSD32033 (and all images shown as related images) are taken from elsewhere, published on other websites. The EXIF of this image states "Copyright Notice: Copyright 2009 NBAE (Photo by Fernando Medina/NBAE via Getty Images)". linksearch
- Photos and videos on Pexels are mostly published under the Pexels Licence which applies non-commercial (NC) restrictions. It also states "Don't redistribute or sell the photos and videos on other stock photo or wallpaper platforms". Therefore Pexels media are ineligible for use on Commons. The Pexels Terms of Service do state that some images were published under a {{Cc-0}} licence — such images would be allowed on Commons, but apparently this only applied to images that were published on Pexels prior to 4 July 2018.

- Appears to consist mostly of uploads by people who do not have the authority to license the copyrights in them, or release the content into the public domain. The website also does not retain good sourcing metadata. Clause 6.1 of the Terms of Use Agreement (last reviewed on 13 June 2011) allows uploaders to mark their files as private or to delete them, which is declared to have the effect of terminating the license for reuse of the files by other people.

- As with fotodatenbank.com, the usage conditions [1] are restrictive:
- Images can be used (...) excluding collections of images or similar where PixelQuelle.de images can be downloaded or bought. (original: (...) "Ausgeschlossen hiervon sind Bilddatenbanken, Bildkataloge oder ähnliche, bei denen PixelQuelle.de Fotos zum Download oder Verkauf angeboten werden.")
Publico.es
- Saját alkotásaikhoz a CC BY-NC-ND (azaz Nevezd meg! – Ne add el! – Ne változtasd!) licencet használják, melynek utolsó két feltétele a Commonsszal nem kompatibilis.

- A Skyscrapercity (SSC-ként is említve) egy fórum, amelyre a felhasználók képeket tölthetnek fel (gyakran saját tartalom, azonban néha jogsértést követnek el például a Flickrről származó fotók feltöltésével). A feltöltések nem kell, hogy szabad licencűek legyenek, így hacsak a fórumban nincs kiemelve a képek szabad volta, vagy azok koruk miatt közkincsek, a jogtulajdonos OTRS-engedélye szükséges.

- Images sourced from Stock.xchng (sxc.hu) are not allowed on Wikimedia Commons, unless they are explicitly licensed under a free license. Preferably those permissions are recorded in VRTS. All Stock.xchng image that have not been independently released under a free license are subject to speedy deletion since July 1, 2007. See Commons:Deletion requests/Template:Sxc-warning and Template:Sxc-warning for more information.
USA Nemzeti Laboratóriumok
- Although these are commonly assumed to be projects of the Federal Government of the United States, they are actually operated by government contractors and reserve copyrights on their works and may have different terms which might be incompatible with Commons' licensing policy.

World Stadiums
- Az oldal szerint bármely (vízjelezett) képüket felhasználhatod, ha hivatkozol a szerzői jogi információikra. A licenc nem engedi meg egyértelműen a szabad módosításokat, ezáltal senki nem törölheti a vízjelet. A legfőbb oka ennek az, hogy így a World Stadiumson található fotók egyike sem lehet szabad licenc alatt. Az oldal nem említi meg a képek szerzőit; a legtöbb fotó jogsértően lett feltöltve (fórumokról, hivatalos oldalakról, magazinokból és újságokból stb.); ezek az eredeti képek megvágott és átméretezett változatai. Más átméretezett fotók a Creative Commons Nevezd meg! licence alatt vannak közzétéve, azonban ezeknél sem szerepel a kötelezően megadandó szerző.
