Translations needed for Wiki Loves Africa

[edit]

Hi Anthere, Can you please translate this template for Wiki Loves Africa to French? Template:Wiki Loves Africa 2019 country/en. Can you also ask someone to translate it to Arabic? Romaine (talk) 11:01, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

English:This is an image with the theme "Play" from Inconnu

PS: Please also find an image for the right side in Template:Wiki Loves Africa 2019 (now the 2017 image is used but should be replaced). Romaine (talk) 11:03, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

PS2: Everything should be ready now on templates + categories + upload campaign side for the upcoming photo contest. Romaine (talk) 11:10, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

WOW !!! 2 weeks in advance ! WOW. Anthere (talk)

Hi user:Romaine. I asked for an arabic and Portuguese translation. For now... only French :)

One note... I noticed that in the upload wizard it is possible to choose the country. Of course, only African countries here. I tested with a country (it worked). Then I tested without a country. I got this : https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:AGD13_Automne.jpg. I am not 100% convinced this is the right behavior as the two categories duplicate. Is that possible to have this request mandatory rather than optional, and then to add at the bottom of the list "other countries" (not a perfect solution, but it would be more accurate and less redundant than the current red category). What do you think ? Anthere (talk)

@Romaine, a portuguese sentence is added... Do you need anything else in Portuguese to make that work ? Anthere (talk)

I have created an overview page to list everything where we need translations: Commons:Wiki Loves Africa 2019/Translations. In Portuguese these are missing: number 2: Template:Upload campaign header Wiki Loves Africa + number 4 on Commons:Wiki Loves Africa 2019/Translations + number 5: Template:Wiki Loves Africa 2019 country .

The last one is also missing in French and Arabic. Romaine (talk) 17:59, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's a win-win result for Commons. Regards. T Cells (talk · contribs · email) 19:51, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for informing me about that, I knew that the subject did some deceptive behaviour but honestly I thought that they were just incompetent with some medical articles so I would have to withdraw my recommendation for them. I don't think in fact that giving them access to such private information would be beneficial to either this project and its partners so thanks for the information.

Also I did not know how far their deceptive behaviour reached, which is alarming, although I hope that they can change I think that giving them the access I proposed would probably be a risk this project should not take. You can quote me on that if someone ever were to nominate him (I mean I publish this CC-BY-SA so you could've quoted me anyhow, but you get the point). --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 05:56, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Unrelated, but why don't you solicit for the position discussed above? It's a great way to help GLAM's and more volunteers are always needed. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 05:59, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello user:Donald Trung. I have been an OTRS agent for several years. I have also been a steward in the past. I helped answering many requests, complains, questions, recorded permissions etc. But at some point, I became less available and motivated due to other activities and drop being an active OTRS agent. Hence I was removed from the list. I do not plan to be an OTRS agent again :) It is a thankless job, but a very important one. And I am grateful to all those doing it. They are the true heroes. Still, it is a position that requires being trusted and I strongly believe that anyone with a bad track record in the community, in particular of deceptive behavior, has no place there. Anthere (talk)
That's why I always show my appreciation to OTRS agents if they handle a ticket 🎟 I requested, maybe the Wikimedia Foundation should show more thanks to OTRS agents during events or show them in another way how indispensable they are for the content on Wikimedia websites. Well, this is just a hobby so if you can't contribute anymore to answer OTRS queues I understand.
Although I do hope that the concerned user can one day change their ways, trust should be able to be earned back, but seeing how they almost actively try to advertise themselves as holding a WMF position I am not sure how trustworthy they can be, plus they seem to have to learn a lot both socially and technically so while I believe that they're a long-term good faith user they still have to prove their trustworthiness.
By the way, why doesn't the Wikimedia Foundation try to recruit more agents during WikiCons? (or does it?) --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 18:03, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Addendum Maybe an automated system could send Wikimedia Commons OTRS members a wikicake on their talk pages every year showing appreciation, I believe that if OTRS agents don't view their work as thankless that more would be motivated to stay. Maybe the automated message could also conjure up a list of the top images they confirmed by cross-wiki viewcount of the articles they're used at to show how useful and influential their work truly is. Just some ideas. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 18:06, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS appreciation concept

[edit]

As you were an OTRS agent, if you would have received this template on your talk page every year, how would that make you feel? Do you think that this might show the current agents that their work is being (silently) appreciated by a great number of people? --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 19:01, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Monuments France 2019

[edit]

Bonjour,

Structured Data - blogs posted in Wikimedia Space

[edit]

There are two separate blog entries for Structured Data on Commons posted to Wikimedia Space that are of interest:

  • Working with Structured Data on Commons: A Status Report, by Lucas Werkmeister, discusses some ways that editors can work with structured data. Topics include tools that have been written or modified for structured data, in addition to future plans for tools and querying services.
  • Structured Data on Commons - A Blog Series, written by me, is a five-part posting that covers the basics of the software and features that were built to make structured data happen. The series is meant to be friendly to those who may have some knowledge of Commons, but may not know much about the structured data project.
I hope these are informative and useful, comments and questions are welcome. All the blogs offer a comment feature, and you can log in with your Wikimedia account using oAuth. I look forward to seeing some posts over there. -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 21:33, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bon jour Anthere

A small doubt

[edit]

In this page, just under the logo and heading, the line 'Campaign to improve the images uploaded to Commons, in relation to COVID 19. epidemics and SARS-CoV-2' is written. In that, I think the full stop placed after the word 'COVID-19' needs to be replaced by comma. Please note - I am not sure. Adithyak1997 (talk) 08:05, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Study shows Wiki Love Africa recruitment makes a difference

[edit]

Hello Anthere

We are writing because you have participated in the Wiki Loves Africa (WLA) photo competition in the past. Results have been published and winning pictures may be seen here !

This year WLA partnered with the research organization CAT Lab (previously CivilServant) to help us evaluate the effectiveness of one of our recruitment efforts. You may or may not have received a message on your user talk page encouraging you to participate again in this year's competition.

We are excited to share with you their study found our recruitment message was a success and may have resulted in as many as 2,000 additional contributed photos. We hope you agree this is great news for Africa and its representation across Wikimedia. You can read more about the study and the results in this blog post.

If you have any questions about the study, we encourage you to ask CAT Lab's research manager Juliakamin(cs).

Please participate in the Universal Code of Conduct consultation on Wikimedia Commons!

[edit]

Dear Anthere

Thank you for your hard work to create the sum of all knowledge that is freely sharable to every single human being across the world. As our diverse community grows, we need a guideline that will help all of our work collectively and constructively where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and part of a team. That is why the Wikimedia movement is working on establishing a global guideline called the Universal Code of Conduct, often referred to as UCoC.

After the months-long policy consultation, we have prepared a policy (available in many languages) that has been ratified by the Board of Trustees. We’re currently in the second phase of the process. During this round of consultation, we want to discuss the implementation of this policy. As a member of the functionary team of Wikimedia Commons, your opinion on enforcement is of great value. We want to hear from you on how this policy can be enforced on the Wikimedia Commons community and what might be needed to do so. There are a few enforcement questions so you can easily outline your answers based on them. Please do not hesitate to bring any more questions/challenges you think are not yet discussed.

The discussion is taking place on Commons:Universal Code of Conduct consultation. You can also share your thoughts by replying to this message (Please ping me so I get notified), posting your message on my talk page. I am aware that some thoughts cannot be expressed publicly, so you can always share your opinion by emailing me as well.

As a valued member of the Commons community, please share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences that relate to UCoC. Let us know what needs to be improved so we can build a more friendly and cooperative space to increase editor engagement and retention of new users.

Wikimedia projects are governed by you. So, it is you who needs to step up to ensure a safe, comfortable, and pleasant working environment.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you! Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 10:18, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a short survey regarding UCoC

[edit]

Hello Anthere,

I would like to inform you that we now have a survey in place to take part in the UCoC consultation. It is not a long one and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. Contribution on Wiki Love Women

[edit]

Hello Anthere,

I have tried adding tags and descriptions here. The edit count has appeared on contribution but My Contributions was still at zero. I'm thinking if I was able to do it right or if there's a need to register on a separate page. Thank you. :)

It's all okay now. I guess it just took time for the page to purge. :)
Hello User:Kunokuno. Yes, it is on the toollab server, and though situation is way better now than it was a year ago (server always veryyyyyyy slow), it still sometimes takes time to reflect things. Glad you joined in !!!! Anthere (talk)

Hello. The campaigns we (Isla and I) run are listed here : Commons:ISA Tool/Challenges and Commons:ISA Tool/Wiki Loves Africa MetaData Weeks. Other campaigns are run by others and are fully independant. We currently have mostly one campaign open ISA Challenge - Tell Us About Her: Women At Work - as part of the WikiGap campaign - March 2021, and I just realized we forgot to indicate prizes :))) This will be updated today. I think 4 smaller for 4 winners it will be a motivation 😂 Magotech (talk) 23:09, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How we will see unregistered users

[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Greetings Anthere, My friend referred me to you for a quick question. I love your contributions to wikimedia commons and would love your expert advice. How exactly - step by step - did you upload your photos to Wikimedia commons? I want to upload a few photos I took with my own camera, but the upload directions (and codes?) are extremely confusing. File:Les prix pour les particpants.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Women in architecture

[edit]

Hello, Anthere.

Can you tell us whether there will soon be an official declaration of the competition results for the "Tell Us About Her: Women in architecture" campaign?

Also, is it possible to continue using the ISA tool to label architect photos without messing with the competition edit counts? --Bobulous (talk) 18:53, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bobulous
Yes, I can tell you :) User:Afek91 just added the results here : Commons:ISA_Tool/Challenges. You are second !!! Afek will promote the results and contact winners in the next few days.
This campaign had a closed date, so you can not edit it anymore. Sorry about that. This being said... if you are keen, I can set up a new campaign with sightly different categories (or more categories). This campaign was running only on one category category:Female architects by country. Is it what you want to continue working on precisely, or would you be interested into another topic ? Anthere (talk) 18:25, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, @Anthere.
Thanks for the update. And as far as new campaigns go, any category with interesting photos needing attention will be fine by me. Bobulous (talk) 20:02, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My suggestion is a campaign to improve description of Featured Images on Commons :) I created it some time ago, but have not yet started to promote it. I see direct interest in working on this category... What do you think ? https://isa.toolforge.org/campaigns/191 Anthere (talk) 22:30, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds fun. (Though I thought that Featured Image promotion required the reviewers to check that the image was already categorised, captioned, and described sufficiently?)
I'm going to finish writing some code for an open source Rust project, then I'll spend some time seeing what can usefully be done with the Featured Image collection. Bobulous (talk) 18:26, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I thought so too... but after I created the campaign with this category just to have an idea, I realized many images had no depicts at all. And many have only a caption in one language. I think it may be due to images tagged featured images BEFORE the structured data system was set up. But in any cases... it looks like there could be much improvement. Odd. IDA campaign 191 tricking users

[edit]

Hi, I see you're the owner of this campaign. It tricked a user into doing these incorrect edits. You should probably exclude the files that have digital representation of (P6243) because the data lives on Wikidata and anything added here is redundant. Multichill (talk) 18:45, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Multichill. Thanks for the report. I am trying to figure out exactly how the tool tricked the user and what is wrong in what happened. Can you explain further ?
The problem I see is that I can not exclude files from the ISA campaign. The ISA campaign is fed through the selection of one or several categories on Commons. In this specific case, it feeds on only one category category:Featured pictures on Wikimedia Commons and it will take all pictures that are in that category, with a depth of 4. I can not exclude images from it... In the future, we could make it so that campaigns are set up based on queries (which would allow to exclude specific images probably), but not the case at the moment. So... I am trying to figure out what the implication of the edits of Bobulous are, what is wrong in them, whether it is a one-shot issue or will be a major problem with the entire campaign, and whether it is easily fixed by bot afterwards or need manual fixing. If you could explain better, I could find a solution to prevent problems ? Thanks Anthere (talk) 08:31, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I know what happened, not how it happened and the user doesn't know anymore.
Weird that you can't filter and weird that you use depth 4 because it's a flat category, all featured pictures are directly in it.
Queries can complicated, search is easier in this case. 329 out of 15,606 is about 2% so risk of impact is low. It's sorted by last edit so if you keep an eye on it, you should be good. Multichill (talk) 09:53, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I still do not see how the tool « tricked » the user though. The tool does not make any suggestion. The addition of depicts is entirely in the user hands. So if a user decides to replace one depict by another depict, he is fully responsible. And of course, anyone can make mistake.
I do not think it is « weird » that I can not filter out... this is the way the tool works ! But any suggestion of tool improvement is good to collect. I noted the search link above. I will digg into that... and keep an eye on it. We will only push this campaign in May, so will need to make sure that things are ok.
You are actually correct that the featured images category is only 1 depth. Well, this is an issue. It takes depth 4, but then collect 0 images from depth levels that do not exist... so zero impact. Anthere (talk) 08:07, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I am messaging you because a contest for a sound logo for Wikimedia is being developed and your opinion as a Wikimedia Commons admin is appreciated. My team would like to know if it is possible for the top finalist sound logos in the contest to have attribution temporarily hidden from public view until all the votes are final? The idea is to let the public judge the sound logo contestants based on the merit of the logo, not the person or people who made it. Again, any feedback is appreciated.

2022 Picture of the Year: Saint John Church of Sohrol in Iran.

Read this message in your language

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Hi Anthere,

I think you are or were recently a Wikimedian in Residence at WIPO? Over on English Wikisource there has come up a copyright discussion relating to the WIPO Copyright Treaty. Wikisource reproduces original texts, so we're trying to figure out the copyright owner and any relevant license for the text of the treaty itself (in particular, for WIPO Copyright Treaty (WCT) (1996), WIPO Publication No. 226E, ISBN 978-92-805-0706-5, a scan of which is available online at https://www.wipo.int/edocs/pubdocs/en/wipo_pub_226.pdf). We would like to upload a copy of this PDF to Commons (or locally on enWS if needed), and then use the Proofread Page extension to transcribe it on enWS.

Do you have any contacts that you could ask what the WIPO's position is on 1) who owns the copyright for the text of the treaty itself, and, if they view the owner to be the WIPO itself, 2) what, if any, license they apply to it in view of their subsequently adopted Open access policy?

Going by my own amateur research, as a negotiated international treaty the most reasonable author for copyright purposes would be the WIPO itself. And since the WIPO is not a competent legislative assembly and the treaty is not self-executing—it was not adopted into US law, but implemented by compatible regulations included in the DMCA—the text of the treaty itself is not an edict of government (i.e. {{PD-EdictGov}}). As such it would appear the text of the treaty is protected by copyright owned by the WIPO, and the only way we can host it is through explicit licensing using a license compatible with our policy (i.e. CC BY 4.0). Xover (talk) 10:12, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello User:Xover. Well noted. I shall inquire... Unlikely to be concerned by the adoption of CC BY in 2017. Unlikely to be an edict of government either. I’ll be back on the topic. Anthere (talk) 18:22, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Any luck getting something from the WIPO? Xover (talk) 10:43, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@User:Xover. Nope. Not yet. But I am not forgetting the case. I was able to talk only once to my contact and I had a list of 7 elements for her to look at... Only 2 done so far :( The problem is that... she did not know and was not sure. So she needs to find someone who would be « sure ».
But... We are now three of us (one Spanish speaking, one French, one Arabic), and we have our first team meeting of the year tomorrow. I have put the point on the list of stuff to discuss. Anthere (talk) 18:19, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Any news? Xover (talk) 16:35, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Xover. After some back and forth and submitting my question to various people, here is the closest to an answer I got, from a person of the WIPO Lex department. I copy it verbatim :

I submitted your request to the Office of the Legal Counsel.
The text of a treaty is not in principle copyright-protected as such, but WIPO’s publications are. In accordance with WIPO’s open access policy, WIPO’s online content and publications, such as the publication referred to in our email exchange below, are made available by WIPO under the Terms of Use of its website, pursuant to which, except as otherwise provided, the Creative Commons (CC) CC BY 4.0 license applies.
As indicated in the Terms of Use, the CC BY 4.0 license allows anyone to reproduce, distribute, adapt, translate and publicly perform content published online under WIPO’s name, without explicit permission, provided that such use is accompanied by an acknowledgement that WIPO is the source, and clearly indicates if changes are made to the original content.
I hope this helps.

End of the answer

I (Anthere) will add that the example I submitted to her was this one For example... WIPO Copyright Treaty (WCT) (1996), WIPO Publication No. 226E, ISBN 978-92-805-0706-5, a scan of which is available online at https://www.wipo.int/edocs/pubdocs/en/wipo_pub_226.pdf

So it looks like they consider those treaties to be under CC BY SA 4.0

I hope the General Counsel will actually provide further input though. Because this answer is of special interest to me. I considered that old publications (non-treaties), published before the adoption of open access policy, and accessible on WIPO website, had still to be considered protected under traditional copyright terms. But her answer might suggest that we can consider old publications to be relicensed under CC BY SA when published on the current website, UNLESS they specifically mention the traditional copyright. Anthere (talk) 15:44, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!
My immediate impression of that answer is also that they consider the Open Access Policy retroactive. That's not what the Open Access Policy actually says, though: new WIPO online publications … are issued under … CC BY 4.0. (my emphasis). Reading the Terms of Use I would take that to mean that only content produced or first published after the adoption of the Open Access Policy would be covered by it. It would be very good to either get that confirmed, or get the Terms of Use updated to clarify that all content is covered by the policy (including its exceptions for third-party content, the WIPO logo, etc.).
But this is in any case sufficient for us to keep the WCT at both enWS and Commons, so my immediate problem is solved. Thank you again for following up on this! I would also appreciate updates if you get more since I am also interested in the general case (but I'll stop nagging you :)).
PS. If you should happen to get the legal theory behind the claim "The text of a treaty is not in principle copyright-protected as such" I'd be most interested to hear it. So far as I am aware only the edicts of government doctrine could actually make treaties exempt from copyright, and treaties that are neither self-executing nor authored by a competent legislative body do not obviously fall within the scope of edicts. As a NGO, neither would works authored by WIPO be covered by any relevant government works exceptions like those embodied in {{PD-USGov}}. I am going to keep operating on the assumption that the quoted phrasing was imprecise in this regard, but if there should be an actual legal theory behind that it would have wide and general applicability for Wikisource. Agreed. This is why I will push to have further input from the General Counsel, specifically on treaties. This being said... I doubt very much they will make the terms of use more precise when it comes to retroactivity simply because the site host a lot of old content and they are not going to go back to double check the exact licence of each of them. They are careful with every report moving forward... and tagging each of them one by one, but they will probably not take the chance for old report.

When I joined, they had adopted the open licensing a few years back, and told me « every content produced post-adoption » was CC BY unless unless otherwise mentioned. But at some point in the first year, I discovered that whilst individual publications were clearly tagged... the website was still under copyright according to its terms of use. I asked why and the answer was... that at the time of the decision to switch, they knew some of the old reports on the site had been done with partners who were still operating under copyright. They did not want to take the risk of relicensing a document without the agreement of all parties involved (and did not think it was worth the effort to negotiate with them as most reports go moot after a few years). 5 years later, when I pointed out to the situation of the website still being under copyright, they considered the system was well enough established now that they could consider it reasonably safe to put the whole website by default on CC BY, most of the old copyrighted reports being usually tagged as copyright. But officially making it retroactive on the WHOLE website would mean relicensing some untagged content where they are not the only copyright holders. Doubt they would do that. Risk is limited but still... not good practice/

But clearly, they never considered the treaties to be in such situation. So yeah, you are good to go.

But I agree "The text of a treaty is not in principle copyright-protected as such » is a good topic to explore at leisure... Anthere (talk) 06:37, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Commons:Tools

[edit]

Hi Anthere, today you priorized translation of Commons:Tools to French only. I think this is a bit short/tight because the Tools are for all Commons users in every language important. Raymond (talk) 19:11, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Raymond. Yeah... sorry... we are in the middle of a hackathon to work on the event tool and I used that page as a demo in fact... of course all languages should in fact be a priority... Sorry for the disruption. Anthere (talk) 12:17, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, could you please confirm if you are actually the author of this file (you haven't edited its Commons page, put it seems to have been imported from Hebrew Wikipedia)? Could you also confirm its license? I am concerned, because the file is dated 2003, while the text of its license (CC BY-SA 3.0) was first published by Creative Commons in 2006. Thank you. Janhrach (talk) 07:51, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Well... yeah. This was one of the logos designed for the International Vote for the Wikipedia logo. See some of my drafts here https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Anthere/logos. Several were then actually proposed in the first round, whilst others were not. Ultimately... the sunflower picture I made with Eloquence made it to the top selected ones and became Media Wiki logo for several years. There are explanations about this logo here : https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/File_talk:Anthere-logo_(small).jpg
Seems stuff got disorganized and moved around, but keep in mind that Wikimedia Commons did not exist at that time, so files duplications across languages were pretty common...
The initial logo was probably here : https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Anthere-logo_(small).jpg. According the history, I read

At that time... no licence mentionned, but given the time... most likely presumed GFDL (which is the licence I was using back then).

I guess this is called « poor move to Commons » :)
Thus... yes, I am the author... and it should be GFDL. This is confirmed by this edit in 2009 (visible to Admin). Anthere (talk) 14:01, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Problème avec mon compte ISA

[edit]

Category discussion warning

Staring eyes has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!
