Hello wdwd! Were these three files at the second part of Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Mgm365: File:Hock Chuan Avalo Chinese Temple.jpg, File:Fort Pilar Shrine 2016.jpg, and File:R.T. Deletions following problematic speedy deletion requests

Hello, I see that you deleted some of the files listed there. It's not your fault, of course, but I suspect that the deletion requests were abusive. For an explanation, please see my comment in Commons:Deletion requests/File:Bandstand in the park.jpg. Can you please check again the deleted files and see if the cases were similar, files validly uploaded with FlickrLickr? If so, can you please undelete the files, unless there was another reason for the deletion, other than a change on flickr since the original upload? Keep deleted, because I can't find any clear indication of a valid license review in the history. Files uploaded by a experimental and inactive bot user:FlickrLickr. More weird: the bot, not the reviewer, set a reviewer note in the initial upload. From my point of view, this is an unclear reviewer status and more or less unclear license review procedure. I would be happy if someone with more deep insight could check these license status and/or the past operation of FlickrLickr to validate the former license status. If so, I will restore the files:

Deletion request

Hi Wdwd—your summary closing of my request to delete the old revisions of File:Metro de São Paulo, Luz Station, Brazil (square cropped).jpg was not particularly helpful. You closed it as "no valid reason for deletion" when I articulated what I thought was a reasonable enough reason. Hi Sdkb, sorry for the short closing. To delete something here on commons need a specific reason. Details are part of the deletion policy (DP), chapter Reasons for deletion. To declutter or improve in different ways an image is not such a reason - because we try to keep the version history in general for example to refer older version explicitly. So if you just improve an image and want to delete the older versions because to "keep the version history clean" is a perfect example for keep, no deletion. There would be no reason to refer to the old versions; they were replaced within minutes without ever being used and differ from the present version only by a few pixels in width. This would seem to be covered by the provisions for courtesy deletions, redundancy, and any IAR policy Commons has. Is that enough? {{u|Sdkb}} talk 07:09, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
Other way around: What is the reason for a deletion? Deletion of a file does not free disk space. A deleted file will be kept forever on the storage systems but is not public available. And a "clean upload history" is no reasons as you mention in the deletion request.--Wdwd (talk) 10:21, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

Temporary undelete of The ABC of Relativity

Hi Walter,

Any chance I could get you to temporarily undelete File:The ABC of Relativity.djvu so I can evacuate it to English Wikisource? The work is in copyright in the UK due to a pma. 70 term, but in the public domain in the US due to the pub. + 95 term, and the licensing policy on English Wikisource only requires works to be PD in the US. It's been on a todo list to transfer for a while but has been delayed by technical issues (pywikibot's imagetransfer script has been broken since the introduction of the +reuploadshared permission). Hi, this was a speedy deletion from Category:Recent unfree Flickr images related to file https://www.flickr.com/photos/ceskyflorbal/32126793588/in/album-72157699356656382/. I missed the regular DR, sorry for that. However, we need clarification via COM:VRTS and a statement from the copyright holder to publish this file under a free license. A comment or discussion in the DR in any way is not sufficient for clarification. After okay from the VRTS team any commons admin - eg myself, if you give me a ping - will restore the image.--Wdwd (talk) 20:53, 13 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi there! I recently filed a deletion request for this piece of art as I believe it violated the guidelines of Commons. I got it from Christie's.[1] My question is; was I actually right in saying that it violated the guidelines of Commons, or was my assertion incorrect? Hi LouisAragon, the image from Christie's is copyrighted with "All rights reserved". You uploaded a copy without a statement from the copyright holder that you are allowed to publish this image under a free license. That is strictly spoken a copyright violation. So, your assumption was correct. Remark: The copyright is related to the photo, not to the shown artwork.
In this case you started short time after the upload the DR. In my opinion that's a typical mistake and is not such a big deal. It's okay to delete it with "uploader requested deletion of recently created, unused content" instead of "copyvio".--Wdwd (talk) 08:29, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello, how are you? Since you worked out part of Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Perci Hong (the Rebeca Andrade images are copyrighted), could you see the legitimacy of the following requests (one aren't mine)?:

  1. Commons:Deletion requests/File:Soyuz MS-20 Mission Patch.png - I believe that is non-controversial that the Russian Soyuz patchs are public domain;
  2. Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Gabriel Stein Barreto - Maybe some are possible to save;
  3. Commons:Deletion requests/File:Zayed's Ambition Mission Insignia.png - Non-free image.

@Mif.dang: Writing the same message in the talk page of several admins will not solve your problem! Moin, nur damit ich es für die Zukunft besser verstehe: Ich hatte zwei identische Bild-Duplikate zur Löschung vorgeschlagen, und zu meiner Überraschung hast du eines gelöscht, das andere File:Hamburg Domkirche.jpg aber bestehen lassen. hi, ist keine exakte Kopie oder herunterskalierte Version sonder "nur" eine andere/ähnliche Dateiversion. Diese werden im Regelfall belassen und (als Info) mit einem Hinweis auf die anderen, ähnlichen Dateiversionen versehen.--Wdwd (talk) 15:39, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
