Re:Deletion tags[edit]

Thank you for sharing those links regarding the PD-textlogo template, and for the Threshold of originality page. I had been following the usage on the English Wikipedia for cycling race logos, such as this one for the Tour of Britain, whereby it was a non-free logo and should not been exported to Commons – and as such, I have learned something new regarding PD-textlogo.

Regarding the logos for cycling races within this Commons category, I believe the majority had been added with Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International licensing – but I wasn't sure that should have been on Commons, which was my rationale for adding the SD templates. If any of those were incorrect, I can only apologise. Craig(talk) 18:54, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. The icon to the right on the Tour of Britain logo would make it eligible for copyright, as it includes some creative design.
There is nothing in principal wrong with placing CC licences on PD images, but the PD should be used if relevant. Stifle (talk) 14:47, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Undeletion[edit]

hi Stifle,

could you restore this 1791 painting??? Ladrrionesius (talk) 16:25, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please contact User:Krd who deleted the image, or file a request for undeletion. Stifle (talk) 14:48, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Stifle, That was not a content dispute, I mentioned that the map "clearly shows nothing useful" with Commons:Scope as the reason for nomination. That file is unused and unlikely to be used due to lack of educational purpose. Regards, HeminKurdistan (talk) 15:11, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message. That has not been argued in the DR so I have no way to rely on it. Stifle (talk) 15:12, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This was my reason: "According to the uploader, "Caspian people... include the Gilaks, Talysh, Tat and Tapuri" but this is an invented definition. w:Caspians were people of antiquity and this map of modern provinces of Iran clearly shows nothing useful. Commons:Scope". HeminKurdistan (talk) 15:15, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Undeletion[edit]

Hi, I noticed this image was deleted, but I think you should undelete it: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:EdaEce1990.png

It was taken from an official distributor channel (FOX) as you can see here: [1]

I see the nomination says "The director of this TV serie until March 2020 was Neslihan Yeşilyurt. Since this director didn't publish it on Youtube with CC, we don't use screenshot here with CC" but we can safely assume the official distributor of the show has the necessary permissions from production crew/director before "distributing" it. I mean, when do you see a show or film release from director's own channels? The director works on the production and the production company/distributor/TV channel handles the release and the distributing part. So for this reason, "because it's not from director's youtube channel" is not really a good argument to delete. Tehonk (talk) 18:53, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The message explains that the permission from the director is needed, not (just) from Fox. If you'd like to request undeletion, please file a request at COM:RFU. Stifle (talk) 14:39, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
