Hello dear @Satdeep Gill I have cut another image for Amanza Smith's article with the app Polish and uploaded it to Wikipedia Commons. Unfortunately I forgot to rename the image before uploading. Polish 20230615 183912410.jpg is a very bad title. Lot of thanks. Actually I am adamant because there exists problem in case of these government website. Bihar Vidhan Sabha updates their website after every election and old photos are deleted and news ones are uploaded. In this process, the candidates of previous election are lost and on English Wikipedia, there exists a lot of article about MLAs with no image, often similar names, which creates confusion. Similar is case with election commission website, i found that they have record of affidavit of candidate of last election only and prior to that, no record. PRS legislative research also uses their image frequently, since they are free.Let me show you, it will help you in case someone challenge your review.([3] & [4] (see, this is an image of a sitting MLA, who was elected in 2020 Assembly election of Bihar)-Admantine123 (talk) 05:34, 21 August 2023 (UTC)

The timeline for the 2023 election will be
- September 15 – September 30: Applications for the election committee
- October 1 – October 9: Vote for election committee (ideally comprised of three members)
- October 10: Election committee starts work
- October 20 – November 9: Nomination phase for candidacies
- November 10 – December 10: Elections
- December 15: Results announced
In the first step we ask you to be part of the election committe. Please add your name on the Election Page.

Hi! You have recently tried/used Wikimedia Commons features in OpenRefine (uploading files, or editing existing files). I'm curious to hear how this has gone, also if you only briefly tried these features.
To help the OpenRefine team with future improvements, it would be immensely helpful if you would be willing to spend a bit of time filling in two surveys. (Yes, two! Each of them uses a different method and (open source) platform). Both will run until approximately end October 2023.
- A first, classical, survey (fully anonymous) where you can tell us how you use the Commons features in OpenRefine, and how you (want to) learn to use them better;
- A second, more experimental survey (also fully anonymous) in which you prioritize the features that matter most to you. This second survey is a bit strange in that you can 'just keep clicking'. Feel free to use it as long or as briefly as you want; you can stop any time. Please also add your own suggestions!

Flickypedia soft launch and a huge thank you[edit]
Dear fellow Commons photographer,
I hope this message finds you well. As you might already know, the Flickr Foundation has been busy creating a new Flickr-to-Commons bridge (“Flickypedia”) this year. After a successful demo at the GLAM Wiki Conference in Montevideo, the Flickr Foundation team is now inviting all members of the Commons Photographers User Group to be the first to review their alpha, reporting any technical issues or other feedback via the Flickypedia project talk page.
At the same time, this message is an opportunity for me to thank you for your trust and support over the past couple of years. Since 2017, we've grown into being one of the largest user groups in the Wikimedia universe. I've tremendously enjoyed interacting with all of our members when it came to joint photowalks at Wikimanias, virtual Zoom meetings where we covered a wide variety of photography topics, as well as our annual “Most memorable shot of the year”, among many other events. As I'm not running for an official position in our current board election, this will be my last message on behalf of the user group to you. Thanks for all the happy moments we shared together over the years! I hope you'll continue creating free images for the millions of people we serve through Wikipedia and Commons.

File:Masle Shiekh Farid Ke.pdf[edit]
Hi @Satdeep Gill. Could you please help with this File:Masle Shiekh Farid Ke.pdf, a manuscript in Gurmukhi, Punjabi? As far as I could dig up, it was published in 1962 (as a translation) and the original work is perfectly PD, the author lived several centuries ago. - @TheAafi my apologies that I couldn't respond to this before. Actually, this is not a text by Sheikh Farid or a translation. This (Masle) is actually another type of medieval Punjabi prose and this one is about Sheikh Farid. The first chapter, which is copyrighted, explains that the rest of the text is from an medieval Punjabi handwritten manuscript. Descriptions establish that it is definitely out of copyright. So, I think the best approach would be restore the file after deleting the first 20 pages. - Satdeep Gill (talk) 15:24, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

As tradition holds, since 2018, we've been sharing our favorite captures from the past year with each other. This year marks the sixth iteration of our beloved "Most Memorable Shot" tradition, and we're excited to see what everyone has to share.
Whether you're a member of the Commons Photographers User Group or not, you're warmly invited to participate. Your unique perspective adds to the richness of our community, and we'd love to see the world through your lens.

Hi Satdeep Gill. I saw that you uploaded a higher resolution image of File:Sathish2024.jpg and wanted to ask if the now-blocked user had sent it to VRT. If it was User:Monhiroe, then I would place a COI tag on their en wiki page because I'm sure they are not the photographer. There is no other way they could have obtained that image without the knowledge of the subject or the photographer, but they have not disclosed anything on their en wiki userpage, so I was just curious.
