You're making quite huge changes to that page. Don't you think you had better asked for consensus first? Also, if you would use edit summaries, it would be easier to see what you are trying to achieve with each edit. The page has a talk page, you know ;) Best regards, --rimshottalk 10:17, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

See COM:DEL (existing deletion system). I am making it similar -- Cat chi? 10:19, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Next time use the talk page first, please - that's what it's there for. I am not quite sure that it makes sense at this point to make it too similar to COM:DEL. COM:CFD is not an official page in any way. --rimshottalk 10:24, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
It wont be official until it is functional :). I was the person restructuring COM:DEL and first proposing COM:CFD. :) -- Cat chi? 10:25, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
I didn't notice that ... anyway, thanks for yor efforts and sorry if I was bothersome. I bet you'll use more edit summaries in the near future :) --rimshottalk 12:57, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
No problem. I just wanted to set the system straight before it breaks. Edit summaries are useful when not editing in bulk :P. I think the system of templates. Do you see a problem? -- Cat chi? 13:00, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I uploaded some files *.svg and added Category:Đại số 8 in them. Next, I converted them into files *.png and used them at another site vlos:Đại số 8/Chương IV/§3. Bất phương trình một ẩn.

Category:Đại số 8 is liked subcat of Category:K12, so if you is a sysoper, please you remove files in Category:Đại số 8 to Category:K12 and delete Category:Đại số 8.

Thanks for talk me about it.--Nguyễn Thế Phúc talk 03:09, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

category Holt artillery tractor

why have you changed this to plural ? The category referes to a single extremely important model of vehicle. It is not a generic category. As such I believe the category should remain singular. Regards. Rod. Rcbutcher 02:38, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

The naming conventions say that category names should be plural, unless they are "real" names, like Category:Ford Mondeo. Holt tractors are tractors by a company named Holt Tractors. Note the lower case t, which means that tractors isn't a model name, but a group name. The same holds, I think, for Holt artillery tractors: this category refers to artillery tractors based on tractors built by the company Holt. If you still have objections, please voice them in the existing discussion, so that someone else can have a look at it as well :) --rimshottalk 11:35, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Some maintenance on user message templates

Hi Rimshot. Thank you for translating user messages. Could you please check all German language templates for messages on Commons:Message templates/todo-big and make sure they have a heading (== text ==) as the English version has? A while ago, this was changed and many language have not yet caught up... Cheers! Siebrand 12:58, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

I will. --rimshottalk 13:02, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Done, I've left out {{No tag message}}, which doesn't yet have an English heading. --rimshottalk 13:59, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Fantastic. Thank you. Siebrand 00:20, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

It might interest you to know that when adding {{Commons:Categories for discussion/Current requests/2007/10/Category:Religion in Ancient Rome}} , all interested parties, provided they have a watch open on Commons:Categories for discussion/Current requests/2007/10, have to open the item for edit the item before they can set a watch on it. The same applies for each new monthly subpage.

This might explain why there is very little activity on this page and why some people don't prefer to use the standard way of working. --Foroa 18:03, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Category tree for churches

Hi Rimshot. I while ago you participated in a discussion on User talk:CommonsDelinker/commands about category naming for churches and the like. From what I could see, no consensus was reached, so the rename requests have not been processed automatically. I have copied the dicussion to Category talk:Churches and I kindly invite you to have further discussion there. Once a consensus has been reached, please re-request category renaming on User talk:CommonsDelinker/commands. Thank you for your participation and understanding. Cheers! deletion requests

Hi Maderibeyza. Which problem do these images have? The best way to open a deletion discussion is to go to Commons:Deletion requests (Commons:Silme istemleri). If that doesn't work, I can open the request for you. --rimshottalk 16:40, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
  • As you see, the images are from the official website (kaynak=Miniatürk Resmi Web Sitesi). And we have no permission to upload and use them. I noticed this problem so I deleted the images which the same user uploaded at tr.wikipedia. But these two are already uploaded from tr to here by me:( So I think you can delete them without deletion request.. --Maderibeyza 18:48, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for the information, I have deleted them as copyright violation of [1]. In general, to have such files deleted, you can add {{copyvio|http://www.miniaturk.com.tr/}}--rimshottalk 11:51, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Petition

Hi! I've just noticed that closed this deletion request. The thing is that a similar image from the same source was deleted in this request. According to the administrator of this time, the image was without licence so he deleted it... the problem is that the licence was the same of the first image as you can see in the history of the image but when it was nominated for deletion, the user deleted the licence tag. So I was hoping if you can restore the deleted image because it had a correct licence tag. Cheers! --B1mbo 04:13, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I cannot just undelete an image, but you can ask for undeletion at Commons:Undeletion requests. --rimshottalk 15:42, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi, hope you can help. I was trying to ask User:Szajci if they could leave a message for User:Doncsecz in Hungarian (seeing that we're out of active Hungarian admins). Unfortunatly, Szajci came back to me saying they don't understand English... and although I could probably manage a message in German, it'd be full of mistakes & not sure if it would make things clearer. Techsupport

Trotzdem Thx. --Alexpl 15:40, 07 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello Rimshot, I was unaware of template {{Anonymous-EU}}. Is it ok to change this image's licensing, or should I wait untill the discussion ends? Regards, Vincent Steenberg 18:14, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

You can change the licensing, but don't remove the deletion notice. Once a decision is reached, which can take quite a while, an administrator will close the discussion and remove the notice - or delete the image. --rimshottalk 18:34, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Image:French_people_-_mosaic.PNG

Hello Rimshot! And thanks for the info provided. Two questions if I may:

  1. So, can I deduced from your words that only Zidane's pic needs atribution?
  2. How is atribution done? Must the name of the author be placed in the image itself, or it just needs to be stated in the info at the image's page?

Thank you once again! The Ogre 20:01, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

I have replied at the deletion discussion. In short: you've done well on the attribution. Only the attribution for the Mitterand image is missing. --rimshottalk 22:02, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for everything Rimshot! I have already added the attribution for Mitterrand. Cheers! The Ogre 09:32, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

CfD templates

Hey rimshot, I figured I better ask you about this. Why do we have {{Category for discussion}} and {{Cfd}}? The cfd's talk page redirects to the other's. They're not the same so I wasn't sure if I should redirect one or not. Also, maybe you can help me out with my current project—categorizing every single template. :) Well, that is my goal, but I just wondered how you would categorize something like {{Cfd2}}. I wanted all the category maintenance templates together somehow. I made Category:Category namespace templates thinking I could divide it up nicely with things like navigation/infobox/content-related subcats and cfd/merge/maintenance-related subcats, but it's harder than I thought. Not everything's in the category namespace. I could rename it but a.) I don't know what to and b.) it would throw off Category:Commons templates by namespace. It's still possible because ideally I'd like to have every template in at least two categories (e.g. by namespace and by function). I know your good with working out category names/schemes, so please let me know if you have any ideas. And if you're interested, here's my template category scheme I'm working (they're far from being filled, however). Cheers, - Rocket000 08:12, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Why do we have {{Category for discussion}} and {{Cfd}}?: I've got no idea. {{Cfd}} currently includes {{Category for discussion}}, but I cannot really say why. You should ask Ö about that, as he made those changes.
As for the category scheme, I'll answer at your template category scheme. Categorizing for those templates has been long overdue, so it'd be great if you could pull that off. --rimshottalk 10:29, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Your rename request on the English Wikipedia

You have recently requested that your account on the English Wikipedia be renamed to that reserved for your global login. I (or another bureaucrat) was unable to complete this request due to bug 13507. It is now possible for a steward to undo the unification of your login, which will allow this rename to be performed. You can then once again unify your global login once any local renames you need are completed. If you still want me to rename you on the English Wikipedia, please request that your global account is deleted at m:SR/SUL, and (once this has been done) let me know either by commenting on your request or leaving me a note on my enwiki talkpage. If you no longer want that account renamed, could you also get in touch so I know that you don't need me to take any further action. WjBscribe 18:26, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Montajes

Should I put the montajes first in Flickr, under the licence of Creative Commons, they can be placed here? (189.30.56.210 20:30, 30 April 2008 (UTC))

Are you User:TVCinema? If you don't own the rights to the source pictures, there is no way that you will own the rights to the montage. If you don't give a source for all images contained in the montage, and proof for their copyright, you cannot upload them to Commons. --rimshottalk 21:36, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Isn't it time we start archiving this page? I don't think DRBot or something is necessary given the relatively low amount of noms. I would do it by hand, but I'm not sure what should and shouldn't be archived right now. It would help if we "closed" some out. I saw you've used {{Delh}}/{{Delf}} before, maybe we (volunteering self) should make new templates to close these discussions? Not all are necessarily deletion discussions. Some are just completely inactive... You have a lot more experience there, so what should be done? Rocket000 17:38, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

(edit conflict) Due to the nature of the discussion and the relatively low profile of the page, discussions tend to run very long, and some discussions just come to a standstill at some point. I close (and archive) all discussions that are clearly over, but such a clear endpoint is not easily defined. If you want to create special headers and footers for archiving, go ahead. They can be retro-actively applied to all archived discussions as well. As for criteria defining when a discussion without clear outcome can be regarded as over - I've got no idea beyond inactivity for more than x months. --rimshottalk 18:01, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I think I'm getting your system here. How long do you wait before moving it to the archives? Rocket000 17:42, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Usually one or two days after closing the discussion. It's the closing that's problematic ;) --rimshottalk 18:01, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
I know what you mean. Some discussions just... stop. :) Rocket000 18:36, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to keep bugging you. Would you be able to help with the logic of {{VIX}}please? The idea is to make use of the switch feature, but I must be doing something wrong. --MichaelMaggs 16:27, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

What are you trying to achieve? The switch statement looks like it's working fine. The placement is a bit odd, but that can be changed by moving the switch elsewhere. --rimshottalk 17:51, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Weird. I'm sure it didn't work when I last tried it, but no-one has changed it since. Thanks for checking, anyway. Not at all sure what happened there. --MichaelMaggs 19:04, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Help needed with the Valued images project

As you may have seen, this project is going live for nominations on 1 June, 2008 at 0:00 UTC. Before then, there are a few things to be finished off, and any help you can give will be welcome. The latest discussion is at Commons talk:Valued images candidates#Open action items for Valued images.

When the project launches publicly on 1 June, it will need reviewers who are able to jump in quickly and provide prompt feedback. During those critical first few weeks it will be important to have a decent number of reviewers who are prepared to put in the effort to make sure the first nominations are well-reviewed, as that will set the standard for the future.

Would you help, please, with the final tasks now, and also pledge your help with some reviewing on 1 June and thereafter? --MichaelMaggs 17:08, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

alte Bildversionen

--rimshottalk 18:51, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Bilder gelöscht, Lizenz in meiner Schublade

Hallo Rimshot,

  • Erst über ein viertel Jahr später stellst Du die Frage "Has the permission been filed with COM:OTRS?"

Conflict

Hi Rimshot, Perhaps you can help me; I need a third opinion to break a deadlock that I have with another editor, Cygnis insignis. In this particular case it concerns the question of which category the article Morelia (genus) should be placed in, although I suspect he would also like to have his way with the articles for the Morelia species below it. I tried to explain to him in detail my reasons for having organizing things the way I have, but while others are fine with this explanation, he simply rejects it on the grounds that it is illogical, or non-intuitive, and reverts my edits. Consistency or effort just don't seem to count for anything with him. Therefore, I'd be grateful if you could help out, or at least let me know where I can find this kind of help. Thanks, --Jwinius (talk) 18:30, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Tree of life issues are discussed in the Tree of Life project. I don't really know how active that project is, but in theory it should be the place to go. My personal opinion on galleries and equally named categories is that the gallery should always be in the category. This is how it is generally done, too. The only area where it is not always done that way is the tree of life. If you don't get any response at the their project page, you can start a category discussion at COM:CFD. --rimshottalk 11:09, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. --Jwinius (talk) 11:50, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Anomaly

Hi Rimshot, Would you be so good as to look into the following problem for me? It concerns this category view: Category:Colubridae. In it you'll see that, while most of the subcategories are indicated to contain subcategories and pages of their own, two of them also contain files. The first of these, "Dendrelaphis (3 C, 3 P, 2 F)" does indeed contain two files as expected. However, the problem is with "Drymarchon (1 C, 1 P, 1 F)," which is supposed to contain one file, but actually doesn't. There used to be a file there, but it was moved to a deeper subcategory some time ago. Is it perhaps because there still something there that I can't see? Thanks, --Jwinius (talk) 15:42, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Processes such as counting the number of files and pages in a category are rather expensive in terms of processing time, and therefore they are not executed all the time. This means that it may take some time until the numbers are correctly updated. If the numbers aren't updated in a few days though, you can ask at the Village pump, where the chances are higher of finding someone who can really help you. --rimshottalk 18:50, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
This situation has persisted, I believe, for several months at least. I'll ask at the pump. Thanks, --Jwinius (talk) 21:59, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
As opposed to its en.wp counterpart, this village pump is not a very lively place, is it? Cheers, --Jwinius (talk) 21:25, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
You didn't ask at the Village Pump, but at its talk page. Anyhow, it is less lively than its en.wp counterpart. We simply have less users. --rimshottalk 22:12, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Talk page? Oops! :-) Thanks, --Jwinius (talk) 02:51, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Seeing as nobody at the pump feels like addressing this issue. perhaps you can help with an new idea I've come up with. If the problem has something to do specifically with Category:Drymarchon, then deleting it and re-creating it may simply result in the problem resurfacing again. So, how about a different approach. I've just created a copy of the problem category, Category:Drymarchon-new. I would like to see what happens if we move (not delete) Category:Drymarchon to Category:Drymarchon-old, and then move Category:Drymarchon-new to Category:Drymarchon. I can't move a category, but I'm hoping that, as an administrator, you can. Afterwards, Category:Drymarchon-old can be deleted. So, what do you think; is it worth a try? --Jwinius (talk) 11:14, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Never mind. Someone has just answered this very question over at the pump. Coincidence? Who knows. Unfortunately, though, it's not what I was hoping for. My idea would apparently has no effect whatsoever, Thanks anyway. Cheers, --Jwinius (talk) 16:07, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi Rimshot!

I was checking Category:Unlisted deletion requests and noted some deletion request for categories of farms. I noticed that you substed some templates [3]. Can you remember what was going on?

All nominated but kept cats should have a {{Kept}} on the discussion page (maybe both the specific one and the general one). If a {{Delete}} is still pressent at the category it should be removed. If some of the categories was decided "deleted" the images should be recatted and the categories deleted. All deletion request should be closed. All deletion requests should be archived.

Will you have a look on it? --MGA73 (talk) 22:52, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

There was some discussion going on about the usefulness of the whole farms in XXX category. The way the discussion was going it seemed useful to move the whole discussion to the Categories for Discussion. The deletion discussions were closed, to centralize the whole thing. The category discussion was closed without much of an outcome, by another admin. The categories where all kept, excepting the unused ones. I never thought of adding kept notices to the talk pages, nor archiving the discussions, as that is usually done by a bot. The bot couldn't do its work, I guess, because the deletion discussions were never properly listed. If you have the time, could you take the appropropriate steps? Otherwise, should the discussions be archived at the date they were close, the date they were opened, or the current date? --rimshottalk 12:25, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
The requests are archived by the date of nomination. The bot also checks if the latest user editing the page is an admin. If not it ignores the request. So I've been told. I will look at them. --MGA73 (talk) 20:52, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

De-adminship warning

Deutsch | Español | Italian

Dear Rimshot/Archive 1. I am writing to you to inform you that you are in danger of losing your adminship on Commons because of inactivity.

If you want to keep your adminship, you need both to sign at Commons:Administrators/Inactivity section within 30 days of today's date, and also to make at least five further admin actions in the following six months. Anyone who does not do so will automatically lose administrator rights.

You can read the de-admin policy at Commons:Administrators/De-adminship.

Thank you – Kwj2772 (msg) 02:46, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Notification about possible deletion

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

I tried to add a {kept} to the talk page but it created a red link. I just left a statement as to the reason instead. Feel free to correct my statement.--Canoe1967 (talk) 19:15, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

The category was not nominated for deletion, but for discussion. For category discussions, a kept tag is not usually added. You can refer to the discussion at Commons:Categories for discussion/2011/09/Category:Diergaarde Blijdorp if someone doubts the outcome. There was a solid consensus for keeping the category. --rimshottalk 21:48, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. I never noticed that. I addded the link to the talk page.

Stamps of Moldova

Hello, Rimshot! You recently closed the discussion at Commons:Categories for discussion/2012/01/Category:Stamps of Moldova, but the problem which prompted me to open that discussion is still not solved: the category says that stamps are PD and points to a template that says that stamps are copyrighted. So, which is it? If it's PD, can you correct the template? Razvan Socol (talk) 09:25, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Category discussions are normally about questions like good names for categories etc. and not about copyright questions. Therefore I will usually just follow a deletion request's outcome when closing such a discussion. In this case, I followed the first link, not looking at the year. A more recent request had the same outcome, however. As the question is really about the copyright template being correct, the CFDs might not have been the best place to discuss this. I will open a discussion at Commons talk:Stamps/Public domain. If it turns out that the template is correct, a lot of images will have to be deleted. --rimshottalk 20:48, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
I've responded more fully at Commons talk:Stamps/Public domain#Moldovan Stamps. The copyright template is wrong, it was improperly edited by User:Zscout370 who was not involved in either of the discussions mentioned above and should be reverted. Ww2censor (talk) 22:34, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
I have not heard or seen a reaction to this or my Commons talk:Stamps/Public domain#Moldovan Stamps page posting. So I want to revert the Moldovan template edit as there that edit was never discussed or substantiated by Zscout370 but the template has been completely changed so I don't see how to revert his edit. Ww2censor (talk) 08:54, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
There hasn't been any, unfortunately. I have advertised at Commons:Village pump/Copyright in the hopes of attracting some more input. --rimshottalk 19:24, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
I noticed that there has been no input. I figured out how to revert the template. Ww2censor (talk) 20:58, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm just wondering what the status of the "New York City by period" discussion is. Hamblin (talk) 01:24, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

The status is that no-one ever participated in the discussion, apart from the nominator (me). If you have an opinion on deleting or keeping these categories, feel free to participate. I'd rather not delete categories after a discussion in which only I took part. --rimshottalk 19:13, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. I am interested in the trees pertaining to New York City -- particularly its history -- but I haven't studied the situation enough yet to have a firm opinion on the big picture. When I do I will participate. Hamblin (talk) 00:57, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

cfd vs seecat

Re: Commons:Categories for discussion/2014/02/Category:Court houses in Hungary

Thanks, I didn't realize it was that easy. I thought I had to go through a cfd. Would it be appropriate to use {{speedy|Wrong name, see Category:correct name}} in this case? Thanks. Themightyquill (talk) 15:25, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

For obvious cases, mostly misspellings (tag for deletion) and duplicates (make a redirect) , there is usually no need to start a discussion. In this particular case, I opted for making it a redirect, as "court house" is a valid spelling. An example for an obvious deletion would be Commons:Categories for discussion/2013/09/Category:Flodder (fims). If you are unsure which one to use, you can tag the category for deletion and let an admin decide whether to delete it or make a redirect. If you are really unsure or see the need for discussion, you can of course start a CFD. This can also be the case for duplicates, where both names are valid, but it is unclear which one to prefer. --rimshottalk 18:37, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Should we continue discussion or delete it now that it is more organized. I have done more cleanups as suggested by you and other Admins. Thanks WayneRay (talk) 14:02, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

As you now noticed, CFD work somewhat differently. The usual way is to discuss a problem, come to a conclusion and then start to recategorize stuff. This might take between days and weeks (or months). There is no rush, really. Beyond my initial comment I have not really thought through the issue, so I cannot tell what a good solution is to the whole system of categories. Your solution is probably fine, and sooner or later someone will close the discussion, maybe me when I've had time to look at it. --rimshottalk 22:26, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
I do apologize. It just seemed so logical I went ahead of myself. Keep giving me Shite and I will get better LOL WayneRay (talk) 00:37, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Bad redirects

Excuse me, why such out-of-standard redirect? -- SERGIO (aka the Blackcat) 18:46, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

As per this discussion (closed 2 years ago!), there were duplicate categories at the time and Musical group logos from ... was the form used more often. It was also in line with the parent category Musical group logos by country. In fact, that is still the only form used in Category:Logos of musical groups by country, so I wonder what you mean by "out-of-standard" ... --rimshottalk 20:26, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
That was not a discussion, was a toss coin. The main scheme of a category is Topic1 of topic2 [by criterium]. I.e. People of the United States [by city]... SERGIO (aka the Blackcat) 15:24, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
I'm not aware of any rule or scheme of categories topic1 of topic2, except where topic2 is geographical in nature (country, city, ...). Now, logos of musical groups isn't worse than musical group logos, but there really was no pressing need to change a category subtree that was consistent within itself. This is quite different from what I did, where I decided between duplicate categories and kept the one that was consistent with its 30 sister categories. In the end, it doesn't really matter. Categories are there to help people find images and both names serve this purpose equally well. The Wikidata entry is at Category:Musical artist logos, by the way :) --rimshottalk 20:19, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

Please participate in the Universal Code of Conduct consultation on Wikimedia Commons!

Dear Rimshot

Thank you for your hard work to create the sum of all knowledge that is freely sharable to every single human being across the world. As our diverse community grows, we need a guideline that will help all of our work collectively and constructively where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and part of a team. That is why the Wikimedia movement is working on establishing a global guideline called the Universal Code of Conduct, often referred to as UCoC.

After the months-long policy consultation, we have prepared a policy (available in many languages) that has been ratified by the Board of Trustees. We’re currently in the second phase of the process. During this round of consultation, we want to discuss the implementation of this policy. As a member of the functionary team of Wikimedia Commons, your opinion on enforcement is of great value. We want to hear from you on how this policy can be enforced on the Wikimedia Commons community and what might be needed to do so. There are a few enforcement questions so you can easily outline your answers based on them. Please do not hesitate to bring any more questions/challenges you think are not yet discussed.

The discussion is taking place on Commons:Universal Code of Conduct consultation. You can also share your thoughts by replying to this message (Please ping me so I get notified), posting your message on my talk page. I am aware that some thoughts cannot be expressed publicly, so you can always share your opinion by emailing me as well.

As a valued member of the Commons community, please share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences that relate to UCoC. Let us know what needs to be improved so we can build a more friendly and cooperative space to increase editor engagement and retention of new users.

Wikimedia projects are governed by you. So, it is you who needs to step up to ensure a safe, comfortable, and pleasant working environment.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you! Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 10:18, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

Please take a short survey regarding UCoC

Hello Rimshot,

I would like to inform you that we now have a survey in place to take part in the UCoC consultation. It is not a long one and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. You can take the survey even if you have already participated in the on-wiki consultation. It has a different set of questions and allows you to participate anonymously and privately.

As a member of the Commons functionaries, your opinion is especially essential. Please click here to participate in the survey.

You are still welcome to participate in the on-wiki discussions. If you prefer you can have your say by sending me an email. You can also drop me an email if you want to have a one-to-one chat.

Thank you for your participation! Wikitanvir (WMF) 13:54, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi, Rimshot

You left me this message.

Hi, I've looked at your uploads and there are still some questionable files:

File:Miami-Dade Public Library Artmobile.jpg - copyright status is undetermined, so how do you know the author released it into the public domain? File:South Dade Regional Library 1.jpg, File:South Dade Regional Library damaged books.jpg and File:Coral Reef Branch Library.jpg are "all rights reserved" at the source site, where does the Create Commons license come from? Best regards, --rimshottalk 16:54, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

I contacted to the people who digitized the annual report. Where I got these images. The annual report is public record which makes the images also.

The annual report was published by the Miami-Dade Public Library System, which is a government agency in Miami-Dade County, Florida which all of there items are public record. As they mention here: https://cdm17273.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/about

Copyright

The Miami-Dade Public Library System in general owns rights to most materials in the digital collections. However, we make digital versions of collections accessible for research purposes in other situations such as: They are in the public domain, we have permission to make them accessible, we make them accessible as a fair use, or there are no known restrictions on use.

Though it is not required, please credit public domain items with, "from the Miami-Dade Public Library System," and provide a link back to each item on the Digital Collections website. Doing so helps us track how our collection is used, as well as justify releasing even more content in the future.

I believe that these images are in fact are public domain, where I should've put Public Domain when uploading these items. Instead of putting CC BY 3.0.

If so, how do I change it from CC BY 3.0. to Public Domain.

Please Advice,

-Ryan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryanolivasnic (talk • contribs) 05:09, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

If that is so, why does their site say "© 2019 Miami-Dade Public Library System. All rights reserved."? --rimshottalk 22:31, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
