- and what do you say to the numerous renames of categories from "Category:XYZ in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania" to "Category:XYZ in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern" (see for example [1]) ? Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is also a proper name. --BLueFiSH.as 22:09, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

- The renames to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern were due to problems with the name Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. There was quite a bit of discussion about that, on enWP. I remember a discussion here as well, that took place before the move, but I can't find it. - ....I think "Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche" is a correct proper name as Category:Kölner Dom and Category:Ulmer Münster or Category:Hofbraeuhaus am Platzl or Category:Tour Eiffel. Orchi 09:50, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Well then we have a serious problem here. The policy clearly states that categories have to be in English "Kölner Dom" or "Ulmer Münster" is not English obviously. Either we have to change it as well or amend the Commons policy to make an exception for churches. Ignoring the rules however is not an option. Gryffindor 22:24, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- If the "Category:Kölner Dome" is deleted, also the Category:Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris must be deleted. I think, these changes are not a good way. Orchi 17:55, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Question: All the categories are differently named here, example Category:Saint Mary's churches but Category:Saint Paul's Church? The churches have to be in plural obviously. But is it "Saint Paul's churches" or "Saint Paul churches"? Which one is correct English? Gryffindor 22:27, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
