Upload image: L'arrivèe d'un train en gare de La Ciotat.jpg

Hi, sorry for my bad english but I'm italian. I upload the image "L'arrivèe d'un train en gare de La Ciotat.jpg" and you wrote my that you need an authorization for the license. I'm the owner and creator of the image, because it's the cover of my book. So I'm the author and the owner of copyright, my name is Roberto Esposito and the image (with the book) can be found on my official website www.robertoesposito.com . Is this enough? Or what I have to do for approve the license? Thank you! --Roswell85 (talk) 10:27, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for your message. I sent an email to the italian address permissions-it@wikimedia.org with the authorization for this image. Now I wat for your approvation, thank you :) --Roswell85 (talk) 01:15, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

done, thanks for your understanding, thats the correct way in this case. --Martin H. (talk) 02:15, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Polish PD

Commons:Deletion requests/File:RPD AMW.jpg I have added the definition of official material created by the Polish Highest Court. IMHO it is clear that photograps from goverment websites fall under this category. Mieciu K (talk) 19:32, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

We could replace template:PD-Polishsymbol with template:PD-PolishGov, they deal with the same things. Why has no one did it already? Acording to a Polish proverb "provisional work lasts the longest". Don't feel bad that you have trouble with understanding Polish copyright law, even Polish Navy[1] marks it's photographs as copyrighted, I complained to the Public Relations officer but he did not give me a satisfying answer instead he took personal offence. You can ask for comments here but I doubt there are many Polish lawyers on Wikipedia Mieciu K (talk) 20:43, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Dear Martin, Thank you for notifying me about Image:Adel Imam.jpg. I have no direct permission to use the photo because I was under the impression that Adel Imam being a goodwill ambassador to the UN the Image would be available under a UN license as I have added. If I was mistaken, then please go ahead and delete the image. I will try my best to get permission.--Producer (talk) 15:21, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Dear Martin, I sincerely thank you for your concern and following up the matter with me coming up with suggestions and solutions. Unfortunately I cannot access Flicker in the UAE so I had to look for alternatives. I did some research and I found an image of him in a movie shot before 1981 Entitled "Al Khida'a Al Khafiah" "The Hidden Conspiracy". I know this because the female co-star "Nahed Shereef" died in 1981. You will find the link here for this image here, I am cropping the image to only have Adel Imam, and I will use this License {{PD-Egypt}}. I hope this works. If it does not, then I am sure we do not want to break the law. Cheers my friend.--Producer (talk) 07:08, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
done, licensing seems ok, i also asked an flickr user for permission on one of his images, see File:Adel Imam by Elijah Zarwan.jpg. --Martin H. (talk) 02:11, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi, i tried to identifie the persons on this photo that you toke. I failed to identifie 2 persons, maybe one person is not notable (security person maybe). Hi, why did you upload the image as a PNG? The original is available as jpg with Metadata. Also i personally can not see why this image is inside our projects scope, but i will reupload it as jpg with proper metadata. --Martin H. (talk) 01:38, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Your changing it to JPG (which means future versions people edit from it will be lossier) means that it broke the two WP articles that used the former PNG version of the image. Please do fix it. Sherurcij (talk) 01:59, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Done, forgot that the "Check usage" is broken for the en.wp. Future edits will not be lossier, and even if: It takes seconds to export the image to PNG again. --Martin H. (talk) 02:08, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Re: Copyriht violations

Fist of all, I have to say that I am learning English, so there could be many mistakes. I also want to say that you (or whoever that deleted "my" photos) has just ruined this article: Rattus. What is wrong whith this? I only uploaded those photos because I wanted to improve that article, and improve people`s mind too. In any moment I insulted, stealed, anybody/nothing. Do you really think that I could contact with the photographer and say to him/her: Hey, friend, I am using your photo Here? No, no, no. That is impossible, and ridiculous too. And not to mention that people copy and paste this images wherever they want, so, It is impossible to know where the fuck (sorry) is the original source. With this stupids laws, all you do is, for example, that people can not know the real face of this mangaka: Shin Takahashi, (Spanish Wikipedia nor), this do not affect Shin Takahashi at all, in fact, I really think that he would be happy watching his face in a Encyclopedia. How I could contact with him?! (Or with his/her potographer). I am great disappointed, and if this laws continue, I would hope that this proyect, has never created.

I expect your answer with impatience... --Rikimaru123 (talk) 14:52, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Plotina's coins

Dear Admin Martin,

  • Can this Wikipedia (WP) image of coins of Pompeia Plotina, Emperor Trajan's wife, here be moved to Commons from English WP via OTRS? There is a Wikipedia artticle on her here: Pompeia_Plotina I notice that many other images with coins from the cngcoins web site have been OTRS'ed such as this one on Commons: [2] If the answer is yes, could you move it to Commons and OTRS it...so that everyone can use it, not just those on English WP? I am not an Admin as you know. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 23:17, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

PD-UN and permission

Hi Martin. Why do you think that files such as this one need a permission? To me, it is covered by the third point of the license tag. Regards, Eusebius (talk) 09:12, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

done, answered directliy on the image description. --Martin H. (talk) 09:18, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Apparently, PD-UN collides with a lot of local UN restrictions then. Is there a discussion somewhere about that?? --Eusebius (talk) 09:23, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
I dont know the status of symbols and such things, but i know that there was a lot of discussion about the File:Flag of the United Nations.svg. However it is quite simple for photos, photos are provided by the News and Media Division of the UN and commercial use and derivative works are not permitted. 1, 2,3. Normaly this files are gone per Copyvio, i found some new during research. --Martin H. (talk) 09:42, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

No, the email seems to be from Dr. Ishak himself. Since there's no source on the image, I wasn't in a position to check the matter with the original website and it seemed plausible. I will investigate this further with the Coptic Medical Society. Stifle (talk) 20:23, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Complicated

I believe that the intention of Wikipedia is not common and have an open system for dissemination of information. After all, the pages of Wikipedia and their sites are very bad, I do not speak English very well the (You'll notice in my message ... Laughter), then it is very difficult to help in a more dynamic, so to speak. Moreover, my goal was not to disrespect any copyright, or rules of the community, Wikipedia.

However, notice that by now a good time, I will not post any more image, unless I have, in fact, the rights of same in my hands, not to irritate me and not create a bigger problem with the community.

Gary in the newspaper 1996 with Bob Marley's guitar

Hi Martin,

Thanks for letting me know of your concerns. Gary & DJOD have permission to use this newspaper article. This image can be found here @ http://www.djod.org/info_package.htm written by Katherine Monk back in Dec 7 1996 in the popular Canadian newspaper, The Vancouver Sun. If more info is needed please msg us at office@djod.org. These guys are responsible for watching our actions found here @ http://www.djod.org/about_us.htm#governance. We are honest, so please let us know what we need to make things right. Thanks. Mark. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Djodorg (talk • contribs) 04:13, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, I will talk to everybody about this tomorrow. This kind of stuff is out of my hands. But we will provide you with the necessary documents you guys need. You will quite be intrigued about everything I have to share in behalf of djod.org & Gary. Our site looks messy at the moment, everything's not done, and we are working very hard and smart for our one of a kind project. Thanks.

Hello, let me tell you why I had to do another one, even knowing that it is wrong. When I block indefinitivamente, they also removed some photos from munha guitar is saying that violation, but I know it is not. So I decided to make another account you can put the picture again and some others that were very important and that did not exist, and that account I did not do any infringement of copyrights for proving that I can have a chance and go right 2. Even though it was wrong to be done. I hope you comprienda my reason.

Hi Martin, that's fine if this picture has been deleted. Gary had permission from a friend and user online at www.flickr.com to use this image of Bob Marley. Original is from this user's flickr account here at http://www.flickr.com/photos/7312629@N07/1472418701/. Well, the permission that was used to the Image:Jimbo-wales---fosdem-2005.jpg should be the same permition of my image, right? And I modified that image, so that passed to be my own work.

Flickr Original Size

Thanks for the tip on my talk page about uploading the largest flickr size available.

Not sure if you are involved with this, but it would be nice if the instructions for uploading flickr images were more clear. Right now, it's like, there's links scattered about saying "You can use this tool or use this tool". I don't know, if there was just a tutorial with a sequence of steps IN ONE PLACE (with info about the right copyright), that would be nice.

I believe right now I use finfo to extract the info on the image, then manually upload it from that. I tried the upload tool but that failed.

Thanks again. --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 15:57, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello Martin H., you nominated the image of Jack de Vries File:Jack de Vries Defense.jpg for deletion. You mentioned that the copyright tag is not provided. You probably made a mistake, because I did provide a copytag. Jack de Vries is a member of the Dutch government. The photo is issued by the Dutch Ministery of Defense (as you can see under: source). Like all photo's, cards, documents etc. issued by the Dutch government it is NOT copyrighted unless the copyright has been reserved explicitly. In this case the copyright is NOT reserved, so it is in the public domain according to Dutch law. See this tag:

. It would be much appreciated if you inform yourself first on copyright issues and copyright tags before putting files up for deletion. Could you please remove your nomination. Danke. Tasja (talk) 14:36, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

All the website states is that you must mention the source, which is the 'Ministerie van Defensie'. On their websites the Dutch Ministeries issue 'official photographs' to be used freely by all media. Also commercial media. Sometimes advertising agencies even use them in advertisments - the person in the picture can make objections to that but not on the basis of 'copyright' since the Dutch State doesn't claim copyright, but on the basis of so called 'portretrecht'. I have had these kind of discussions before and I find it really irritating to have the same discussions over and over again. So if you feel you are right, inspite of the information I gave you and you still think you know better - please delete the picture. It is not important to me. Original creator permission issues

Hi, thanks for bringing my attention to issues of derivative copyright on My Talk page. Can you please also give me an opinion on an issue of public sculpture which I have raised there for you? Ta. Bjenks (talk) 04:49, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

done, answered on your talkpage. --Martin H. (talk) 21:21, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Benutzer "$2gm0yRS"

Hallo Martin,

17:25, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
