Hi JuTa, A couple of days ago I tagged File:РАФ-22038-21 2.jpg and File:РАФ-22038-21 3.jpg as No Permission and another editor had tagged File:РАФ-22038-21.jpg as No Permission ... Well the uploader has since gone to OTRS and the last image was saved,
As you were the deleter would there be any chance you could undelete the first 2 images so I can ask the uploader to do the whole OTRS thing for the 2 other images ?

Hi, But the OTRS staff aren't going to have any idea about the images and I'd imagine like myself (until now) the uploader would have no idea about the fact OTRS can do it all undeleted, It seems easier if the images were undeleted so I can then ask the editor to confirm the permission .,.... I dont understand the motivation for the deletion. `no source` I suspect that the file a picture was of a rail pass ticket (Een deels ingevulde Rail Pass / A partialy filled Rail Pass ticket). The source is self evidently a Rail ticket issued by the Belgian SNCB rail compagny. I suspect the real reason is that as by many rail tickets there is problaby an SNCB logo on the ticket. If this is the case, the reason should be correctly mentioned.Smiley.toerist (talk) 22:05, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

The problem is that the image was initialy upoaded completely without a source and without using the {{Description}} template. We don't know if it was i.e. self scanned by the uploader or copied from any 3rd party websites. There is even some text printed on the rail pass which might be considered as copyright protected as well. You may like to ask User:Ellin Beltz, who marked it as no source, for her reasons. --JuTa 22:14, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi: The only information available was == Summary ==NMBS rail pass== Licensing =={{PD-self}}. Since the rail pass was not published by an individual, therefore it is not own work. Not being own work leaves it with no source (which is where it started). I have my own Rail Pass example. There are railway printed compagny logo´s and special company paper is used. As the pass is valid for a year a good reproduction backside and frontside could even be used fraudulently. For this reason there is no need to undelete. However I have problems with the reasoning used for the delete. For the licensing there are two parts:

• The picturetaker/scanner
• The creative work itself (artwork, postcard, document)

In practice the first part is only important if it is creative work on its own. A scan of a document or postcard is not considered creative work and is not treated as such. There are even cases in the Commons whereby an old PD postcard is scanned from a book. The strong preference is to take scan of an original postcard and certainly not to use a recently published book. For a picture taken in a museum of a painting, the first part of the licensing also has to be considered. But even there the art template (the only licensing template wich really uses both parts) is nearly never used. The wording not own-work implies that the picturetaker is not making creative work. The source can be filled in with a description of what it is: postcard, railway company ticket, etc. And any extra information such as postcard publishing compagny, museum, private collection etc.Smiley.toerist (talk) 10:15, 8 February 2016 (UTC)

Hello there JuTa -- You deleted a category that we created as a placeholder for a local Wikipedia chapter Editathon. We are going to be using these but they may not get populated right away. Could you give us at least a week after the event is finished before deleting these? I am going to have to go an re-create the page now to upload pictures. It would be much appreciated. Well, I'm checking Special:UncategorizedCategories from time to time. This was an completly empty category, no description, no parent categories, no images sorted into. So I deleted it. For the future: Please give as mininum some sensefull parent categories, them they will likely never come to my attention. Ticket received for deleted images

Hi! On 6 February you deleted a couple of images upload by user CasperKenig (seen in red here). Since then the correct license acknowledgements has been received and archived for at least seven of them. An undeletion request concerning these seven files can be seen here. Many thanks if you could assist in resurrecting these files concerning ticket ID {{PermissionOTRS|id=2016021510007762}}. At least three Swedish-speaking OTRS volunteers have been involved in communicating around this issue, but as neither one of us is an administrator at Wikimedia Commons we would need some help in resolving this. First of all, I am sorry for the problems which have been caused by my photos. I sent you this message to indicate the source of them. I found it on the statal Barbella Museum’s profile. They were made by a photographer who donated for free them to the museum. I have indicated his name and the source. The Museum did not give any information about the Copyright, but there is not the Copyright Symbol, which is always used by the photographer to mark his works. Hi Cats' photos, everything in the internet is per default "all right reverved" except explicity otherwise stated. Which mean nobody it is not allowed to copy, resell or modify it. This makes "your" image simply a copyright violation. The only chance I see is that you try to contact the photographer and ask him if he likes to publish the image under a free license of his choice ({{Cc-by-sa-4.0}} is recommanded). If he agrees he has to send an email to the commons support team as documented on Commons:OTRS. Once you know the email was sent you should add the corresponding license template of the copyright holders choice - see Commons:Copyright tags - and replace the problem tag with {{OTRS pending}}. regards. --JuTa 20:01, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi Ahm masum, its public domain only in a very few countries. Most countries have 70 year (not 60) pma - see Commons:Copyright rules by territory. So you cant do nothing except try to find a translation with other translators who died before more than 70 years. Deleted USFWS images

Hi,

Could you elaborate on the rationale behind the deletion of File:Alaska Interior (24718314859).jpg, File:Winter_Bee_(25065276825).jpg, and File:Lockett Meadow (21770504126).jpg?

As I recall (and I may be mistaken), when these were uploaded with a bunch of other Flickr images, Flickr2Commons couldn't pull the license info (because it's pdmark rather than cc0). I think this had happened before, and it just required another party to click the link, see the license is appropriate, and remove the tag. What happened here? Hallo, falls das Foto-Atelier Schröder wie unter Commons:OTRS beschrieben eine Freigabemail an das Commons-Supportteam verschickt hat, hattest Du vergessen die Vorlage {{OTRS pending}} auf der Bildbeschreibung zu verwenden. Diese zeigt an, dass eine solche Freigabe "unterwegs" ist und verhindert die Löschung für ca. 2 Monate bzw. bis der Fall als OK oder nicht OK entschieden wird. Gruß --JuTa 08:47, 4 March 2016 (UTC)

Das Atelier Schröder hat die Mail nicht gesendet, das habe ich gemacht. Ich habe die Bestätigung per Mail von Sadrieh, dass er das Bild verwenden darf. Reicht das so aus? Alternativ habe ich das Bild jetzt auf Flickr eingestellt und dann nochmal in Commons hochgeladen. Aber ich weiß nicht, ob das der richtige Weg ist. Hallo, die photographierte Person hat also das Recht vom Photographen erhalten das Bild zu verwenden. Du hast von Ihr eine Mail dazu bekommen und diese an das OTRS Team weitergeleitet. Nur leider reicht es nicht, wenn Herr Sadrieh das Recht hat es zu verwenden. Es muss jeder weltweit dieses Recht besitzen das Bild, auch kommerziell, zu nutzen. Das bedeutet im Extremfall dass Firmen das Bild auf Ihre z.B. Milch- oder auch Kondomverpackungen drucken dürfen. Dies muss der Urheber, also der Photograph kundtun. Was dein zweites Hochladen als File:KarimSadrieh2016.jpg betrifft: Das nennt sich hier Commons:Flickr washing und wird auch nicht akzeptiert. Ich lösche dieses Bild gleich. Dafür stelle ich das erste File:KarimSadrieh-April2008-800x800.jpg wieder her, und versehe es mit {{OTRS pending}}, habe aber beim derzeitigen Stand der Dinge wenig Hoffnung dass das so akzeptiert wird. Well, you added the {{OTRS pending}} template yourself. If a release does not get confirmed by OTRS stuff such images get deleted after about 2 months. Why you deleted this file

• 6 (even less than) days after the DR opening instead of the 7 days stablished in the Deletion Policy,
• Where the copyright status should be discussed for a longer period, specially if the picture is old (where {{PD-old-70}} or {{PD-anon-70}} apply), and making the uploader the chance to get the answer from the museum in order to decide why the picture is in the PD (because is very likety to be in the PD anyway)?

The DR was started at 20. Feb. thats 15 days ago. I think 15 days are enough time to discuss such a case. I dont feel it to be my response to find a suitible license for such images and thats not a clear case of anon work, we dont have a source that it has been published anonymously. Dear Administrator, I've noticed User:Hieucd added a few photos of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Upon closer examination, 13 of this new user's photos have various watermarks on them, some similar but half of them are different. One even has a copyright symbol on it which makes me suspicious of all of these user's uploads. I can make a list of the ones with watermarks on them if you need. Removed Images

Two images (RCrB_lightcurve.png and R_CrB.png) have recently been removed, I believe for copyright issues. I believe it may have been me that uploaded them, although I can't see the relevant history any more. I also believe that the images were appropriately open source, although I might be wrong. I didn't receive any notification about the impending deletions so I don't know exactly what the problem was, if it was just incorrect information on the page or something else. Hallo, in den Adelskats ist noch ein bisschen de Wurm drin ;-) In Category:Coats of arms of Austrian nobility sind überwiegend die höherrangigen alten österr. Adelsgeschlechter drinn. Daneben gibt es auch Category:Coats of arms of families of Austria, die der üblichen Kat „Coa of families of Land“ entspricht. In beiden Fallen geht es um Adelsgeschlechter. Unter families könnte man natürlich auch bürgerliche Familien mit Wappen oder Patrizier oder die böhmischen de:Vladiken reinnehmen. Kann man das nicht vereinheitlichen? I went to great lengths to have a busy New York PR firm upload a photo of Dr. Belisa Vranich for an article I'm working on. They are the copyright holder of the image and uploaded the file through the wizard but the file was suddenly deleted. I'm confused. The file may exist elsewhere online, but this was the original uploaded by the owner. What is the problem? Did they mark the wrong license? Was there a step not covered in the wizard?

Hi,the file was uploaded complete without a description. No source, no author, no license. The uploader got infomred about that - see User talk:Stephgerardcoty and a week later I deleted it, which is just the normal wa in such cases. Hi, I undeleted the file now, renewed the problem tag and added an empty {{Information}} template. She now has to edit the description page of the file and fill out that template. If she took the photo herself the source will be {{Own}} and the author her username. In the permission field she should put the license template of her choice - {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}} is recommanded, but there are a lot of other possibilities. Quite recently, you removed the file ASM Cover.png with the reason that there was no permission. However, it was uploaded by Justin Amirkhani, who is the co-creator of the game, and therefore also the cover, granting him enough permission to upload his own work. I have stated that

• I took the picture
• who created the statue
• who is the intellectual father of the character depicted
• that it is within the Dutch Freedom of Panorama provisions (permanently in public space)

What extra information do you need to clarify copyright status? Or did you mean just to ask me to release the image I took through some specific license? I am happy to release the picture I took, but using {{PD-self}} seems inappropriate, according to the info there: "Only use it if you, the uploader, are the sole copyright holder of the work and that no works copyrighted by other people are included in it." (and the statue is copyright protected; taking a photograph just falls in a use-exception, but that does not make the work depicted a non-copyright protected work...)

gelöschten Kategorien

Hallo JuTa,

sollte man die von Dir gelöschten Kategorien z.B. (Category:Buddestraßenbrücke (Berlin-Tegel)) nicht erhalten, um die Leute zu motivieren dort Bilder reinzustellen, bzw. zu zeigen, dass für diese Brücke noch Bilder fehlen? Und war da nicht mal was mit WP:Rotlinks? Vielleicht liege ich ja auch falsch, über eine kurze Erklärung würde ich mich freuen.

Nun, ich finde dass eine leere Kategorie mehr stört als hilft. Sie täuscht häufig inhalt vor wo keiner ist. Und ich glaube nicht dass eine leere Kategorie mehr zum hochladen von Bildern motiviert als eine fehlende. Gruß --JuTa 18:20, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

Also ich finde Inhalt täuscht sie nicht vor, deshalb ist sie ja rot! Wahrscheinlich weißt Du gar nicht wie viel Arbeit es gemacht hat, die Straßen, Plätze u.a. rauszusuchen und zu sortieren. Vielleicht kannst Du Dich ja einer anderen Aufgabe zu wenden. Gruß OTFW (talk) 06:38, 8 April 2016 (UTC)

Deletion IMO number categories

I see a hell of a lot deletions of these categories. But no deletions of the categories for ships regarding these numbers. What happened? --Stunteltje (talk) 20:08, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

@Stunteltje: I've checked some of these deletions and only a few of the category pages had originally been created by you. What happened there is that you categorised images uploaded by other editors that were later deleted for some reason which in turn left the categories empty. Examples include:

• Category:IMO 5033521 → Category:Badagry Palm (ship, 1956) (Stunteltje) → File:1979 Badagry Palm.jpg (Geoff3Cae)
• Category:IMO 7340942 → Category:Al Salimiah (ship, 1974) (Stunteltje) → File:Al Salimiah.jpg (Nigel Petrie Thomas Owen)
• Category:IMO 5100087 → Category:El Lobo (ship, 1959) (Stunteltje) → File:MV El Lobo.jpg (Nigel Petrie Thomas Owen)

Another common reason not involving your edits was that ship photos by other editors had been attributed the wrong IMO number when there were several vessels of the same name, so the first erroneous category became unpopulated some day when the images were recategorised.
