I spoke with him on en.wikipedia regarding the same unfree image issue. I requested that he provide verification on Twitter, which he did. [1] Rebecca Mader also retweeted this. It's definitely her husband, so I think it's safe to assume he's telling the truth about taking the photos himself.

Would you be willing to unblock him from Commons and undelete the content he uploaded? Guanaco (talk) 07:18, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

After the rant he left on his talk page and calling another, very experienced, user a troll, I can't say that I am motivated to do this user any favors. I think he can wait until another admin decides if an early unblock is justified. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 02:33, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I don't understand why this image had been deleted from the following page: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyc%C3%A9e_international_de_l%27Est_parisien . Indeed, we had the autorization of its creator, Luc Boegly, who gave us a written autorization. We then sent this autorization at the following wikipedia email adress: permissions-fr@wikimedia.org. Hoping you will answer me quickly ! Best regards RedacteurH — Preceding unsigned comment added by RedacteurH (talk • contribs) 06:35, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

@RedacteurH: That's a constant problem. The software doesn't differentiate between normal missing information and missing but OTRS. I try to find the OTRS files but sometimes I miss one. I like to give OTRS two weeks time, instead of only one week which we have for all files with missing essential information. The problem is: the French speaking OTRS team hasn't been able to process the email for this file. As soon as the team approves the OTRS ticket, the file File:Lycée_international-architecte-Ateliers_234_photo-LucBoegly.jpg will be restored. Please remember that the OTRS team consists of 100% volunteers and we do what we can as fast as we can. Thanks for your understanding! --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 13:01, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
I forgot this: Let me know the OTRS-ticket number and I will take a peek. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 13:11, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

Battle for Palm Tree Hill

Wow you're good! Awesome find; the perfect rename! (Also, distinguishes countless other "Battle of San Domingo" scenarios). Thanks! I am attempting to pose clearer naming conventions for some others pertaining to the Haitian Revolution; matching titles into the naming instead of mere descriptions that are currently used. Eg. [[File:Frontispiece from the book Saint-Domingue, ou Histoire de Ses Révolutions. ca. 1815.jpg]] (not the title of the piece, rather the book), is driving me nuts. Stay tuned! Savvyjack23 (talk) 05:12, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Not much to it. I stole the title from: w:en:January Suchodolski ;-) --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 05:16, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Wiki Commons deletion

Dear Hedwig in Washington, I just got several notifications regarding Wiki Commons deletion. You have tagged some of my photographs with copyright violation issues, however none of them have any such issue. Please guide me how to contest this issue. This will be a great help. Question about image use

Hi Hedwig in Washington, I was trying to locate a free image for writer Armand Salacrou and I am not sure about the copyright status of one I found in the Municipal Archive of Le Havre, here [2]. According to the "practical information" of this archive, all one needs to reproduce a document is a camera with desactivated flash [3]. I would think this means that the photos are public domain, but I cannot find in their site if this is so. And there is no copyright/licence notice about the photos anywhere. Do you think I can use them? Thank you. 01:52, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

@Hoverfish: There's a lot of info missing. Looking at the photograph, the person depicted seems relatively(!) old, ☈ meaning the photograph is pretty recent. The photographer isn't given and no date. The photographer probably could be found out and probably is still living. If not, he/she likely didn't die before 2017-71 = 1946. Even if the photographer is unknown, the EU-rule of 70 years (c) after first publication would apply, date not clear either. So my guess would be no, you can't upload to commons. Maybe fair use on EN-wiki? The instructions of the archive are house rules only, not (c)-rules. You have to dig a little longer, sorry. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 05:02, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

Thank you, Hedwig in Washington. I may try fair use on EN-wiki. Hoverfish (talk) 10:06, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

Same Image Upload Removed Still

Hello, Even when images are being given permission to be uploaded here with free licensing and source, now you give me reason that I am advertising even when my image has no dialogues/headlines in them.

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dr._Rav_Sharan_Singh.jpg

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Astrologer_Priya_Gumber.jpg

On my first image upload https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Hair_Transplant_India_Ludhiana_Team.jpg, I provided with ticket no. and all and same was and is being not uploaded still. If the free licensing has no source with them, why include the formality of showing it. Just upload image and description that's all.

You are not only the guys who are busy, we also have a work life too, running around in here with small excuses even for a free licence, where is the justification in that?

Thank You Greatica (talk)

See Com:Scope. Thanks --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 07:14, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

My question is still not answered, Thank You Greatica (talk)

This is not IMGUR, Flickr, Facebook nor a dump site for spam. Tickets are irrelevant when advertising and / or uploading out of scope media . --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 07:30, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

I did not post my images with advertising in them, just clean image and basic descriptions/neutral point with source that's all. Where is the spam in that, when source is present? (that shows facts too) Thank You Greatica (talk)

Source has nothing to do with it, scope does. If you want to waste more time, check Com:UDR and request undeletion. I won't restore the files. Period. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 07:41, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

I am not wasting time but giving my argument with whole full true base (no advt./source with facts, clean image/description). You are saying to request for undeletion even when not restoring them, what justification is that? Man, you know I am right, but still you want to make case with unknown reasons. The best closing is to kindly upload the same so the wiki policies/guidelines and its purposefulness are maintained so to emerge both out as the winner. Thank You Greatica (talk)

Not sure what you are talking about now. And no, you are wrong. You have no clue what Commons is about and how it works. Anyway, UDR is a review board. Click: Com:UD and follow the instructions. I will not reply here. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 07:53, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

Coming with full details_ Image is clean showing no advt. with proper text. Done Source showing relation with image and scope (purpose) of that image.

Hi Hedwig in Washington, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.

Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:

  1. You edited MediaWiki:Gadget-AjaxQuickDelete.js/es.js. Thank you for caring about Wikimedia Commons's javascript pages.
  2. Though, that change appears to introduce 1 new jshint issue — the page's status is now having warnings.
  3. To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine.

Hi. Can you please explain why you renamed this category? There are two different points here:

  • stadium name. It was recently named to Стадіон «Гірник» (Hirnyk Stadium), see for example this local website, and I do not see any evidence the old name Стадіон «Металург» (Metalurh Stadium) is still used
  • city name. It is more tricky here, the city is de jure in Ukraine (which calls it Kalmiuske) but controlled by Donetsk People's Republic (which would have called it Komsomolske in Ukrainian)

I uploaded this photo under the old name (I was not aware the stadium was renamed when I uploaded it and the city still had old name back then) but then I fixed the name in the category. Now I am somewhat surprised to see the old name back. Thank you — NickK (talk) 03:32, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

@NickK: Hi Nick! Here it goes:
Stadium: I followed the name you gave in the description and the name used on enwiki
city name: Same as enwiki.
Someone, I think it was Butko, started a rename request for a single category related to Komsomolske and I filled in the other moves so all categories fit into the same scheme. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 03:56, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
Well, the issue is that I found out that the stadium was renamed only after I uploaded, and the city itself was renamed after I uploaded the photo. I don't usually rename my old uploads, but I can do this here to avoid ambiguity. Will this be helpful to restore the old category name? — NickK (talk) 04:01, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
It's a weird situation. I don't like to rename cities because they have been overrun in conflict. That can change back in no time and we have to do it all over. But it seems that we want to have our categories mirror enwiki. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 04:36, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
However, there is no article about this stadium in English Wikipedia. There is only an article in Polish, pl:Stadion Hirnyk w Kalmiuśkim (English translation: Hirnyk Stadium in Kalmiuske). I was not aware of its existence before 2016, although I uploaded this photo back in 2014, which is why my upload has a different name — NickK (talk) 08:12, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
@NickK: I do not know what the current name is. This website calls it Now we have three options. Gotta get the Ukrainians involved here. @Ahonc: Could you please help out with the name of the stadium and the city? Thanks!! --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 02:30, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
Your source is about 1994 in Ukrainian football. It had that name in 1994 indeed, although this is not relevant as we are looking for its current name — NickK (talk) 06:30, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
I noticed that later. Anyway, I'd rather wait for Ahonc to give first hand advice. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 08:45, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
Well, I deleted that category. We do not need category which have only one image. Categories should be created if they will have two or more images.--Anatoliy (talk) 18:09, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
@Ahonc: Could you please tell me what policy bans categories with only one image? I need this category to add it as an interwiki to a Wikidata item, and obviously I cannot add an interwiki to a single image. I can consider creating a gallery of just one item, but I thought it would be way more useless than a category with just one item which still makes sense for me from structural point of view — NickK (talk) 23:14, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

FSPS photos

Hi! It was suggested that I ask you to undelete File:FSPS Arundel Street, Nos 9-7, 14-1-D.png and File:FSPS Arundel Street, Nos 10-12, 14-3-C, 1978.png. Could you please? Thanks! This is in relation to OTRS:2012011210014367, which may result in all these FSPS photos being deleted, but my belief is that they shouldn't be speedy deleted as it's not that they lack an OTRS ticket, but just that some admins have decided that the 5-year-old valid OTRS ticket is no longer appropriate. Thanks for you help. — Sam Wilson ( TalkContribs ) … 02:16, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

@Samwilson:
Age has nothing to do with anything, if something's wrong it's wrong. In this case I am a little bit on the fence. Yes, there is an OTRS ticket, and yes, it's not 150% to up to snuff. I usually err on the side of caution, meaning I'd rather vote to delete than keep and hope for the best. In this case I see a difference. IMHO a verbal agreement is good enough. The intention of the photographers is clear, snap a pic and give it to the FSPS, no intention of keeping the copyrights. In addition, there is a provision in the Australian law that states something like first owner of the copyright is the employer, not the employee. (can't find the text right now) I think in this case we can safely consider the photographers employees of the FSPS. IMHO the ticket is valid and there is no reason whatsoever to delete anything. Hope it helps. C(_) --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 01:13, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
That definitely helps! Thank you. @JuTa and Jcb: can either of you weigh in on this? I propose that no more photos be speedy deleted, but that if you want to pursue deleting the whole collection that you raise a proper deletion nomination so that we can discuss it. Thanks! — Sam Wilson ( TalkContribs ) … 01:47, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you've removed my requests for renaming these files. I've requested these two files be moved back to where they were because the previous names were correct according to current naming conventions for stroke order GIFs. The new names do not comply with the files under the Commons:Stroke Order Project. Justinrleung (talk) 06:11, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

@Justinrleung: Help me out here, please. TAKASUGI Shinji requested the move. Rationale:
  1. 骨-simplified order.gif = This character is not a traditional one used in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, etc. but a simplified character..
  2. 骨-traditional order.gif = This character is a traditional one used also in Taiwan and Hong Kong, not only in Japan.
Thanks for your time! --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 06:28, 18 June 2017 (UTC)
The rationales don't change how the files should be named under the current convention. In the current convention, the simplified order, i.e. PRC order, has a -order.gif suffix. The "traditional" order is actually not used in Taiwan and Hong Kong; it is only commonly used in Japan, so it should have a -jorder.gif suffix. @Micheletb: could you confirm this? Justinrleung (talk) 01:47, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
@Justinrleung: Reverted the two moves, your argument seems valid. As far as I can tell from the the naming conventions. Thanks for the info, always happy to learn something new. C(_) --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 02:34, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Multiple File Rename Requests of Reda benkhadra

Hi, this user has requested multiple moves for several flags (in some cases, used in hundreds of wikis), I do not know if those requests are appropriate or if they correspond. Can you guide me with this? Thanks and Regards. —Alvaro Molina ( - ) 02:46, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

Images of artwork by Suzanne Anker

Hey Hedwig (can I use that as a shorter name),

How's it going? I wanted to ask about the following files I'm not sure if they were deleted as part of a DR, or as speedy. An OTRS permission came through for them. Would you be able to provide a preview of them to me so I can look at what they were?

seb26 (talk) 00:45, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

@Seb26: Hedwig is fine, most peeps do. The username was a terrible idea. Hindsight is 20/20. Now I have three accounts, this one, my real name, and my bot. Keeping track of passwords is getting more and more interesting.... Hooray for whiteboards! %Þ
Aber anyway. Had a peek at the ticket. The problem I see is that there are two copyrights attached. 1st is the artwork, 2nd the photograph itself. Don't you love copyright? Temp. undelete done. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 02:58, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, and that is indeed a good point. seb26 (talk) 13:27, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Ticket#2017053010003695

C(_) --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 23:50, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
OTRS: Zweite Email ist raus. LG, --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 00:14, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

Hallo Hedwig, Danke !!

Viele Grüße --Wilhelm Zimmerling PAR (talk) 06:03, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

@Atomksk: Do NOT re-upload files that have been deleted! IF the OTRS ticket checks out, the files will be restored. If you continue to re-upload deleted content, your account will be blocked. Please follow the rules. The ticket is not valid as of now. You HAVE to talk to the person working on it. I can't and won't influence my OTRS colleagues. Please stay calm, we are all volunteers and donate a lot of time into the OTRS system. Thx, --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 06:54, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Not an exact or scaled-down duplicate - slightly different crop, send to DR as redundant if desired" abgelehnt.

--Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 01:12, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

STOP BLOCKING *MY* PHOTOS

I'm not sure who you are, but you keep flagging a logo that I designed for a musical production that I created and that I'm producing. I own it!

  • File:Queer (musical logo).png

So please STOP harassing me! — Preceding unsigned comment added by MissHazelJade (talk • contribs) 10:49, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

--MissHazelJade (talk) 10:50, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

MissHazelJade, I hope you can understand that we take copyright seriously here in order to protect the rights of the works' creators. We get a lot of people uploading stuff they don't have a right to - be it movie posters, paparazzi photos, TV screenshots - so we're understandably cautious when we see something which isn't clearly a self-created photo.
However, regardless of the copyright status of this image, I would question how it falls within our project scope. Why in particular do you think your logo should be on Commons? -mattbuck (Talk) 11:32, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

Please accept my apologies Mattbuck, I am just seeing this. I certainly understand your concern. This logo pertains to a musical that I've created and that is in development now. You can view Queer: A New Musical for information about the project, and Queer: A New Musical | Legal Information for the Creative Commons license. My reason for uploading the logo is to accompany the Wiki article that I am writing about the production. Please advise and help me out in any missteps I may be taking. I truly appreciate you! --MissHazelJade (talk) 03:14, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Unblock request

Hi Hedwig in Washington, good afternoon. I received a request at pt.wiki from Holy Goo to intercede for him to be unblocked. He says he didn't mean to insult anyone personally, and used the nazi reference as a general protest against authority (you know, as per w:Godwin's law). He says he will not do anything like that again, and just wants to upload his files quietly. From my part, all I can say is that a while ago Holy Goo used to be a problematic user at pt.wiki as well, receiving a number of blocks on that account. However, in the recent months, he considerably improved his behavior, and is now generally in good standing within that community. Could you please look into this situation? Thanks, -- Darwin Ahoy! 17:59, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

@DarwIn: If you want to unblock him, I won't start a war over it. It is your call, you are a seasoned admin here and on PT-wiki. Thanks for letting me know, much appreciated! --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 18:30, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
@Hedwig in Washington: Thank you very much for your understanding in this matter. I will watch this situation closely in order to prevent further trouble, but I believe Holy Goo has learnt his lesson here, and will not repeat that kind of behavior again. Thanks again, -- Darwin Ahoy! 18:36, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
@DarwIn: No problem, I trust your judgement. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 18:58, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Using 'no source' on old photographs

Hi,

For apparently old photographs or manuscripts could you please avoid using the 'no source' template? These are unlikely to get noticed by others within the default 7 days and they are highly likely to be public domain. If you are unsure, I suggest creating a DR to capture any other issues or using mass speedy deletion if the uploader is an obvious vandal or appears to be a deliberate repeat mass copyright violator.

I suggest special care whenever the Philippines is mentioned, as any photograph created more than 50 year ago is public domain under Philippines copyright law, so the bar there is very, very low for Public Domain compared to other states. Thanks -- (talk) 08:12, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

I made the upload of photos of members of a brazilian rock band taken by the journalist Emilio Pacheco. He doesn't know how to use wikimedia and I helped him to upload the photos.

Danke fuer Deine Arbeit! --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 01:35, 15 July 2017 (UTC)

Structured Data on Commons Newsletter, July 19, 2017

Welcome to the newsletter for Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons! You can update your subscription to the newsletter. Do inform others who you think will want to be involved in the project!

Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons?

The millions of files on Wikimedia Commons are described with a lot of information or (meta)data. With the project Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons, this data is structured more, and is made machine-readable. This will make it easier to view, search (also multilingually), edit, organize and re-use the files on Commons.

In early 2017, the Sloan Foundation funded this project (see documentation). Development takes place in 2017–2020. It involves staff from the Wikimedia Foundation and Wikimedia Deutschland (WMDE) and many volunteers. To achieve this, Wikibase support is added to Wikimedia Commons. Wikibase is the technology that is also used for Wikidata.

Recent developments: groundwork

  • A new and crucial technical step (federation) now makes it possible to reference data from one Wikibase website in another. Because of this, it will be possible to use Wikidata's items and properties to describe media files on Commons.
  • Another important piece of groundwork is under development: so-called Multi-Content Revisions. This feature allows structured data to be stored alongside wiki text, so that one wiki page can contain several types of content.

Team updates

  • Amanda Bittaker was hired as Program Manager for Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons. Amanda will take care of the overall management of the project.
  • Sandra Fauconnier (known as Spinster in her volunteer capacity) is the new Community Liaison. She will support the collaboration between the communities (Commons, Wikidata, GLAM) and the product development teams at the Wikimedia Foundation and Wikimedia Deutschland.
  • We have open positions for a UX designer and a Product Manager!

Talking with communities and allies

  • Long-term feedback from GLAMs. Besides the Wikimedia community, many external cultural and knowledge institutions (GLAMs - Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) are interested in Structured Data on Commons and are willing to provide feedback on the long-term plans for the project. Alex Stinson, GLAM strategist at the Wikimedia Foundation, is currently in contact with Europeana, DPLA, the Smithsonian and the National Archives of the United States. Alex is also looking for other GLAM institutions who might be able to advise on the long term. If you know of an institution or partner that may be appropriate for consultation, do get in touch with Alex.
  • Jonathan Morgan, design researcher, is starting to work on two projects:

What comes next?

  • The Structured Data on Commons team meets in the week after Wikimania to lay the groundwork for the next steps. This includes new backend development and design work, for better and more clear integration of the structured data in pages on Wikimedia Commons.
  • The project's information pages on Wikimedia Commons will receive a long overdue update in the upcoming months. The team will also work on more and better communication channels. Feedback, wishes and tips are welcome at the project's general talk page.

Get involved

Many greetings from SandraF (WMF) (talk), Community Liaison for this project! 13:55, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

File:Gandhara, Bactriane.jpg

Bonsoir Hedwig,

Personal creation 2017" ? Cordialement. (Ismoon (talk) 17:46, 12 July 2017 (UTC))

@Ismoon: Please see Com:DW. The base of your map is not sourced. If you need help from a French speaking user, please let me know, my French is way to rusty. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 01:25, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Hello, Hedwig. Could I delete the template of OTRS permission directly if I show my copyright registration of the above photo? Music Stanislaw (talk) 05:51, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

@Music Stanislaw: I can't quite follow what you mean. Where is the registration? The ticket associated is not finished yet. It is probably better to follow the instructions you received. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 01:39, 15 July 2017 (UTC)

@Taiwania Justo: Ticket:2017062310010877 It's your call. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 03:58, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
@Hedwig in Washington: Hello. This photo has been used in MRRM magazine. I cannot confirmed if the copyright transferred to the MRRM. They said that they don't transferred to MRRM, but I cannot see the evidence in the paper magazine. This is Taiwania Justo speaking (Reception Room) 07:40, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
@Taiwania Justo: [5](see bottom right corner of picture), [6], [7] & [8](in magazine), [9](promotion). Music Stanislaw (talk) 08:51, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
@Music Stanislaw and Hedwig in Washington: OK. According to the first evidence, I confirmed that the copyrights is still yours. And another questions, copyrighted.com is a formal copyright declaration? This is Taiwania Justo speaking (Reception Room) 10:39, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
@Taiwania Justo: Yes, copyrighted.com is the formal website for copyright registration and protection that a company of Canada, VLD Interactive Inc.[10] is running it now. Music Stanislaw (talk) 11:15, 15 July 2017 (UTC)

I need assistance about how to describe copyrights

Hi Hedwig,

I uploaded a few sketches that I created myself. I am the creator. They are also published on this page: http://www.khktmd.org/kyhoa_nd

I tried to follow the instruction from the Commons page. Now, some of them were deleted. Probably I did not describe correctly to the format. Would you like to help me? How do I layout the codes as required by the Wikipedia?

Thank you very much, LeVanBay

Though this document is contained in 『Kim Il-sung’s Collected Works, Vol. 4』, it is a document on North Korean Government policy. Kim is not an ordinary people, but the ruler of North Korea for the period 1945~1994, and most of North Korean Government policies were announced and documented by his name. So most articles in 『Kim Il-sung’s Collected Works』are actually North Korean Government documents, not his personal ones. That's why I think this file is in Public Domain.

But you may delete it if you want. I've lost interest in keeping it there. Few body will be interested in it, too.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely, Tychosn

Tychosn (talk) 07:19, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

@Tychosn: I transfered your comment to the deletion request where this case can be discussed. It's nothing personal and I might have made a mistake. Please participate in the discussion here: Commons:Deletion requests/File:남조선에서 인테리를 데려올데 대하여 (김일성전집4, 1946-07-31).pdf Thanks! --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 23:30, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

Photos

Hey, I got a message that said: Your all photos have been deleted! Who said I didn't have permission? It was just photos in Official Website and what I've done was just moving them on wikimedia commons. If it's possible, take'em back again, if not, No more pictures! I was helping and you deleted all that so I'm not working with Wikipedia anymore. Good luck and Goodbye. Mr.RJ78 (talk) 08:21, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

@RJ78: The photos aren't yours, so we can't host them. You need permission from the club first. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 03:31, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

Dear Admin. Logos of Ukrainian enterprises in accordance with Ukrainian legislation are in the public domain.--Lyubov Vit (talk) 07:31, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

@Lyubov Vit: Wrong. Not one of the exemptions is valid for this logo. Please read the requierments again. BTW: Your logos are ALL licensed wrong. For simple logos you can use {{PD-Textlogo}}. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 07:34, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
See The the Article 10 of the Law of Ukraine on Copyright and Related rights: "(d) State symbols of Ukraine, government awards; symbols and signs of government authorities, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations; symbols of territorial communities; symbols and signs of enterprises, institutions and organizations" Please do not delete this file--Lyubov Vit (talk) 07:36, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
This is for GOV enterprises, institutions, etc. , not valid for private entities. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 07:40, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
No, please read the law. In Ukrainian legislation in the public domain the logos of all Ukrainian enterprises and public and private. --Lyubov Vit (talk) 07:45, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
@Lyubov Vit: I read that differently. Could be lost in translation, tho. Let's transfer this discussion to Com:VPCOPY#PD-UA-exempt. Feel free to voice your opinion there, we need to get this clarified. Thanks for your patience! --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 08:06, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
Thank you. Can I restore a file?--Lyubov Vit (talk) 09:43, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

Regarding mass-murder of my images

For any image that I have uploaded to WikiMedia Commons I have copyrights with me. Our official websites at (madhesh.com and ckraut.com ). We do issue regular press-releases with our images, after which they get published in other websites. After so much of hardwork from a remote village with almost no Internet connection, we manage to upload images to WikiMedia, and they just delete **based on irrational guesses** rather than asking for further proof of owning copyright ? And then threatening to close the account! And you still think, it's polite! Assad and Hitler were much better than you guys! Bye — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mleadtrain (talk • contribs) 13:32, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)@Mleadtrain: As for "irrational guesses", you should be aware that any image on a website is going to be copyright by operation of law unless it is specifically released with a free licence. We are not mind-readers. Also, you do not appear to have learned from the deletion of several of your uploads in March 2015 that copyright and licensing are sensitive issues here. As for references to Hitler, that is one of the most certain ways of being blocked here. If you own the copyrights and wish to release them with compatible licenses, please read COM:LICENSING and OTRS. Rodhullandemu (talk) 13:48, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
You have been warned to stay civil. Yelling and insulting people doesn't get you anywhere. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 00:03, 27 July 2017 (UTC)

Why this file nominated for deletion?

Hi, i'm new here. Why this file nominated for deletion? It is not a scan. It's my own work. Please see the original image here.--Tonykdominic (talk) 14:57, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

@Tonykdominic: Hi! Sorry, my mistake. I deleted ~400 images yesterday, I guess your uploads where collateral damage. No hard feelings, please. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 23:55, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

Hello:

Hi, I'm new here and I was trying to use a picture I took. Why was my photo nominated for deletion? It's my own work. What should I do?

Thanks

--Wampush (talk) 15:45, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

The photograph is available on the internet. We require that a permission is sent. Please see OTRS for instructions. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 23:57, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

Hello again, Hedwig in Washington:

I've followed the instructions and sent the e-mail with the permission. Hope this is enough.

Thanks
