Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
 • Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
 • State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
 • If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
 • Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
 • Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.

If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.

It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.

You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.

Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.

Thank you.

This message was added automatically by Nikbot, if you need some help about it, ask its master (Filnik) or go to the Commons:Help desk. --Filnik 20:19, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Fridolin freudenfett!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Wikimedia Commons does not accept derivative works of non-free works such as File:Airlift Painting.JPG. It only accepts free content, which is images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Reproductions of copyrighted works are also subject to the same copyright, and therefore this file must unfortunately be considered non-free. For more information, please read Commons:Derivative works and Commons:Freedom of panorama. You can ask questions about Commons policies in Commons:Help desk. The file you added has been deleted. If you believe that this file was not a derivative work of a non-free work, you may request undeletion.

File move

File:Wernerstraße 17 Berlin-Grunewald.jpg can't be moved because the target name already exists. Can you choose a different name for it? You could just add 2 to the end if you want. File:Wernerstraße 10-12 Berlin-Grunewald.jpg has the same problem. INeverCry 19:16, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Hallo,

--Fridolin freudenfett (talk) 19:01, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Berlin-Moabit Wullenweberstraße

Hallo Peter, überprüfe doch bitte mal Deine Bilder "Wullenwebersteig" in Moabit.

--Fridolin freudenfett (talk) 17:30, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

File:Kleine Riesin in Berlin.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Also kein Problem. --Fridolin freudenfett (talk) 14:52, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Hallo Fridolin Freudenfett,

Hi Fridolin freudenfett, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

 • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the Rename template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
 • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
 • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

--Fridolin freudenfett (talk) 14:24, 22 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi Fridolin freudenfett, regarding your renaming of this file: you probably didn't notice what I wrote on File talk:EU 2013.png and on the uploader's talk page. The 2013 version map should never have been updated in the first place, nor should it have been moved, because it is a historical map of the 2013 EU situation. The 2020 version should have been uploaded separately. Could you fix this please? Thanks and regards, Wutsje 01:26, 2 February 2020 (UTC)

Hello Wutsje, of course you are right, but the map has now been adjusted to reflect the situation in 2020. I have now created a map EU 2019, still with our British friends. I hope that everyone can cope with it. --Fridolin freudenfett (talk) 10:56, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
Hi Fridolin, yes, that solves the problem. Thank you, Wutsje 15:23, 2 February 2020 (UTC)

Hallo Fridolin freudenfett!

Rename my files, please

Hello Fridoline, Could you confirm renaming of my other files please, that I have uploaded. I am preparing an article. https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:ListFiles/Fingertipsandcompany&ilshowall=1 --Fingertipsandcompany (talk) 11:31, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Thank you very much! And this file (You have missed it): https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Imgpsh_fullsize_anim-_1_.jpg --Fingertipsandcompany (talk) 13:00, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi Fingertips, you did not provide a reason for renaming, therefore no one did it. Even more important is to categorize the pictures convinient, the categories art, painting or portrait are too unspecific. Please follow the category tree to find a proper one or look at a comparable picture as sample. --Fridolin freudenfett (talk) 13:15, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Mistake by me

Hello!

You moved these files:

, however the move was incorrect due to a blunder of me. See Special:Diff/416921219. Please replace PNG with Papua New Guinea as in the diff instead. Sorry for the inconvenience.Jonteemil (talk) 22:31, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

Kannst du bitte diese Dateien umbenennen?Jonteemil (talk) 17:52, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
OK, task completed --Fridolin freudenfett (talk) 22:09, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
Jonteemil (talk) 22:53, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
Auch diese Dateien: File:Plant nursery 2008. Photo- AusAID (10713286416).jpg und File:Students from Caritas Technical Secondary School in various classrooms, East Boroko. (10725936106).jpg.Jonteemil (talk) 17:34, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

Grüße --Pimpinellus((D)) • WikiMUC07:35, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

Welche denn? Grüße --Fridolin freudenfett (talk) 08:14, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
Gruß und Dank --Pimpinellus((D)) • WikiMUC13:32, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

Request to rename a file

Hello Fridolin freudenfett. I would like to apologize for being again asking for the modification of this file. The reason for this is that I thought the species had been renamed Cyrtotrachelus borealis before finding this 2019 article which confirms that the species cited is a subspecies of Cyrtotrachelus buquetii ; called Cyrtotrachelus buquetii borealis . Once again I would like to apologize hundreds of times for giving you this job again. Mário NET (talk) 01:32, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Umbenennung von File:Babakin crater.jpg

Tach, Fridolin. Warum hast Du File:Babakin crater.jpg umbenannt? Oder in deutlich: Was an Commons:File renaming#Which files should not be renamed?, Punkt 4, ist unverständlich? — Speravir – 22:09, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Municipalities of Athens 2008

I think must removed the line between rest of athens and piraeus regional unit and renamed to Athens urban area minicipalities--WIJIDE (talk) 20:17, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

Which line? Do you mean an exact distinction between Athens and Piraeus? Go for it! I hope you have discussed this with the other users!? --Fridolin freudenfett (talk) 22:32, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

Hi! I've change you ill-considered renaming this file. It is one of 59 files which were numbered in the order of their appearance in the book. They can be used not only in wikipedias but also in wikisourses and outside the wikimedia projects. Everey ill-considered renaming of bunch of files that are being named in a logical way also disturbs the order of their display not only in the category -> Category:Illustrations from Around the World in Eighty Days by Neuville and Benett but also in the book. So it is not recommended and should always be carefully considered. If you need according to you "a better name", you can allways make a redirect to this file, make a better description or add next category. Electron   23:54, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

Hello Electron, you are right, the renaming suggested by श्रीमान २००२ was not a good idea. Just the fact that the name Benett was misspelled should have taken me aback. But unfortunately I only thought about that afterwards. As a file mover you have to be careful and sometimes you have to reject a move request. Sorry for the inconvenience. --Fridolin freudenfett (talk) 19:01, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

Rename

Renaming Tibia insulaechorab

Hello Fridolin freudenfett. It is not necessary to move Tibia insulaechorab Röding, 1798 to Tibia insulaechorab, as you had proposed.

In zoological nomenclature, it is common that after naming a species, the surname of the person who classified it is placed, together with the date on which this classification was made. I actually did this by copying from an important marine zoology data platform that names species in the same way (here). I also decided to put the description of the species in the same way, to reinforce this.

In fact, with or without the author's name, the link naming is already correct. Good week. Mário NET (talk) 14:10, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

Hello. Please don’t rename files which have copyright issues like this one did. Please read no.4 at COM:FRNOT. Thank you. -Green Giant (talk) 22:54, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

Wrong renaming

I saw here that you renamed an image picturing footballers Désiré Segbé Azankpo and Razak Omotoyossi to only "File:Désiré A.jpg", which IMO is wrong since there are two persons in the photo. It should be remaned "File:Désiré Segbé Azankpo and Razak Omotoyossi.jpg". -- Jsdo1980 (talk) 11:44, 10 October 2020 (UTC)

Another wrong renaming

I see you moved File:FeH Molecule.png with the rationale "obvious error". The original name was correct, and is what is used in astronomy for this molecule. Putting the -3D and vdW might be consistent with similar diagrams however, But the 3• part you added is a bit dubious. Overall I say tat renaming was unnecessary. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:38, 13 October 2020 (UTC)

Incorrect renaming

Initially, you correctly renamed the file File:Google Drive icon 2020.svg to File:Google Drive icon (2020).svg[2]. This was to harmonise the naming with the other files from the same series Category:Google Workspace logos. Your subsequent revert of the rename was mistaken IMHO. Can I ask you to restore the correct name? Cheers, — kashmīrī 11:49, 15 October 2020 (UTC)

Please ask User:Haideronwiki and agree on a correct name. Then simply contact me again. Greetings --Fridolin freudenfett (talk) 12:01, 15 October 2020 (UTC)

Its fine to rename to the file's old name because there is a series of files that have same sequence and was not aware about that. Haideronwiki (talk) 12:25, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
