• Mix'n'match is a tool to connect Wikidata items to information in other databases. It can be used to find subjects that are missing in a Wikipedia. It now has more than 3000 datasets. Before it was closer to 2000.

President Obama's final State of the Union address

TBH the quality is not great(It can't be after decreasing the file size by 6.4 times), but that is what we can have on commons (yet). Can we keep the original on servers ? the quality is not great When compared to the original? 6.5 Mbps isn't that bad for 720p according to Google It can't be after decreasing the file size by 6.4 times This is subjective. See phab:T191572#4124959. I wonder if I can get something like en:Perceptual Evaluation of Video Quality to work on this. Most likely... 5 years I think that is less likely than you think. It requires very fundamental changes to the openstack swift code / configuration (phab:T191802), not to mention the frequent upload failures for large files (I was literally told by a dev that the chunked uploading code is very old and full of tech debt and quite a few devs refuse to look into it). --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 03:23, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

The server internal IO speed is around 943MiB/s (pv WHCA_MC7204_011216.MXF.webm > /dev/null); WMCS network speed, through the invisible-unicorn and encoding04's nginx, is around 26MB/s (wget https://v2c4.wmflabs.org/WHCA_MC7204_011216.MXF.webm -O /dev/null on encoding06); accessing the file with my home WiFi I get around 3MB/s. While the remuxing, I had a thought. I have never heard of 8 streams and it can't just be a coincidence with 2 streams same and 6 streams same... maybe the 6 streams are supposed to be empty and the 2 streams represent left and right from a single mono source? Files this large sometimes errors out during uploading and require server-side upload, in which case I can help you with that. • Because of the holidays the next issue of Tech News will be sent out on 6 January 2020.

Recent changes

• All mobile site users now have new features. Features include: tabs for page/discussion; an expanded user-menu; direct access to history pages. These features were initially part of the "advanced mode".

Changes later this week

• There is no new MediaWiki version this week or next week.

Future changes

• You can use setlang in the URL to change the user interface language. This will no longer happen automatically. When you open the link you will be asked to confirm the language change. This will not happen if Javascript is not working in your browser. [9]
