Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. --whym (talk) 10:33, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Alpsdake,
Gratulation!, it is a great pleasure to see your wonderful photo serie. Best greetings. Orchi (talk) 12:00, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Orchi,

Fagus Crenata[edit]

Hello Alpsdake,

I am looking to get seeds from the Fagus Crenata. Do you know where i can get them?

There are two nuts in the fruits of Fagus crenata.
Hello.
Fagus Crenata has two nuts in the fruits. I am sorry, they were not seeds but nuts.--Alpsdake (talk) 19:23, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Anas penelope photos[edit]

Hi Alpsdake - you have added a very nice set of photos in Category:Anas penelope, but they do not have any location information other than 'Japan'. Could you add some extra detail of where in Japan they were taken, please? Either a place name, or coordinates. That would greatly increase the scientific value of the photos. Thanks! - MPF (talk) 10:29, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MPF - I added the detail for the photos.--Alpsdake (talk) 22:52, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, thanks! - MPF (talk) 13:04, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alpsdake - I changed the identity of the tree the bird is perched on and renamed the file, as it is Abies mariesii, not Pinus pumila. Can you check the Japanese text, please? Thanks! - MPF (talk) 19:19, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MPF - Thank you for the rename, I renamed the Japanese text from 這松 to 大白檜曽.--Alpsdake (talk) 20:05, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Myrmechis[edit]

Hello Alpsdake, again thanks for your wonderful set of Myrmechis japonica.
These photos are deposited a long time as unidentified Orchidaceae:
File:Parasitic (?) orchid on a tree 1.JPG

File:Parasitic (?) orchid on a tree 2.JPG
Possibly Myrmechis?? Never I saw plants of the genus Myrmechis. Can you help to identify the plants of these pictures?
Thanks and best greetings. Orchi (talk) 15:52, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Orchi. I am sorry, I can't identify this species.--Alpsdake (talk) 09:13, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bird Photo Use in App[edit]

Hello Alpsdake,

I'm the creator and co-owner of a new birding App, Kea: Learn Birds Through Play. I wanted to take the time to thank you for allowing your photography to be used as public domain. Our App is only possible because of your generosity, and we deeply appreciate the contribution your beautiful photos have made to our App and the birding community as a whole.

I thought you might also appreciate information on where and how your photographs are being used. Feel free to cite us on your resume, or for any publicity purposes. Kea is free to download and play on iPhone and iPad, with our Android version coming out this fall, and we would love to have you check it out and see your work in action.

To provide a bit more background information, Kea uses a series of different games that help users recognize images of birds, rather than rote memorization. As a level is passed, the user earns tokens that can be used to unlock new levels, modes, and habitats. Users start with 'Backyard Birds' levels, to allow them to recognize the birds they are most likely to see close to home. A user can also play with levels organized according to taxonomy, rather than habitat. They can use their learning to unlock all the birds in North America, Europe, and Costa Rica including Pelagic species and Rarities. For more advanced birders, modes can be unlocked to learn the scientific names of all species, or in a Timed Mode that sharpens rapid identification skills.

As one of the people who made this App possible, we are also very interested in your feedback on the App, and the direction you would like to see the App go in the future. Feel free to email me at any time if you are interested in testing the App and providing more formal feedback.

Thank you again for your generous contribution of images, and we hope you enjoy their use in Kea.

Best, Chris Duke

--Nmspec (talk) 17:17, 30 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese names of orchids[edit]

@Alpsdake:
Hello Alpsdake, we (User:Badlydrawnboy22 and me) have a request to you: trivial names. Could you please check and verify the Japanese names on this page Wild orchids in Japan.
Then we could adopt these names in Wikidata etc. Thank you for your help. Regards. Orchi (talk) 17:28, 12 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Orchi:
Hello Orchi. Each Japanese name for binomial name can be checked by Ylist. This is the database by K.Yonekura & T.Kajita (2003-) on the database of Chiba University. For example, search Words (Gastrochilus japonicus) shows simple search result:Japanese name (カシノキラン). Regards.--Alpsdake (talk) 07:54, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Orchi:
Hello Orchi. I found one error on the page (Wild orchids in Japan). Search Words (Myrmechis japonica) shows simple search result:Japanese name (アリドオシラン (not アリドウシラン)). Regards.--Alpsdake (talk) 08:07, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Alpsdake:
Hello Alpsdake, thank you very much for your quick and detailed answer. The Japanese names are easy to find in the translation program, that you have attached. Regards. Orchi (talk) 17:17, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

We need your feedback![edit]

Hello. Apologies if this message is not in your native language: please feel free to respond in the language of your choice. Thank you!

I am writing to you because we are looking for feedback for a new Wikimedia Foundation project, Structured Data Across Wikimedia (SDAW). SDAW is a grant-funded programme that will explore ways to structure content on wikitext pages in a way that will be machine-recognizable and -relatable, in order to make reading, editing, and searching easier and more accessible across projects and on the Internet. We are now focusing on designing and building image suggestion features for experienced users.

We have some questions to ask you about your experience with uploading images here on Wikimedia Commons and then adding them to Wikipedia. You can answer these questions on a specific feedback page on Mediawiki, where we will gather feedback. As I said, these questions are in English, but your answers do not need to be in English! You can also answer in your own language, if you feel more comfortable.

Once the collecting of feedback will be over, we will sum it up and share with you a summary, along with updated mocks that will incorporate your inputs.

Also, if you want to keep in touch with us or you want to know more about the project, you can subscribe to our newsletter.

Hope to hear from you soon! -- Sannita (WMF) (talk to me!) 09:57, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
