Template:Prospective category

Hallo Achim55, bitte entferne nicht ohne Rücksprache die Vorlage {{Prospective category}} aus den von mir angelegten Kategorien. Ich habe mir tatsächlich etwas dabei gedacht, und die Vorlage ist ja eigentlich in ihrem Wortlaut selbsterklärend. Nebenbei bemerkt verstehe ich auch Deinen jeweiligen Bearbeitungskommentar nicht: Die Vorlage hat nichts mit WLM oder WLE zu tun, sie ist zumindest nicht exklusiv für diese Projekte da. --Stepro (talk) 19:44, 18 March 2018 (UTC)

Stepro, ganz wie du meinst. Zum Hintergrund: Als Sebastian und ich 2016 das Template angelegt haben, war das eine Reaktion gewesen auf ein damals ziemlich groß veranstaltetes Theater (1, 2, 3) wegen vieler gelöschter leerer Kategorien (das Löschen leerer Kategorien ist ja durch die geltenden Regeln abgedeckt), die angelegt worden waren im Vorlauf auf die zu erwartenden WLE Uploads. Ich hätte damals diesen Zweck ins Template ausdrücklich reinschreiben sollen. Gruß, --Achim (talk) 19:59, 18 March 2018 (UTC)

Ja, WLE war der Anlass. Aber die Vorlage ist doch nicht nur bei WLE (oder WLM) sinnvoll. Wenn es sie nicht (dadurch) gäbe, müsste man sie erstellen. Dass das Löschen von leeren Kategorien regelkonform ist, bedingt ja eben, dass man in solchen Kats, die man demnächst befüllen möchte, erst einmal so ein Template einfügt.

Hintergrund des Ganzen: Wenn ich Fotos hochlade, geschieht das mit dem Commons-LR-plugin, und da sollten die Fotos eigentlich samt Metadaten (Beschriftung, Kategorisierung und allem Drum und Dran) bereits fertig sein. Soll heißen: Die Fotos haben beim Upload idealerweise bereits die richtige Kategorie. Das Problem dabei: Wenn diese noch nicht existiert, ist sie danach schwer zu finden. Ich habe zumindest bisher noch keine Möglichkeit gefunden, mir "rote", also eigentlich noch gar nicht existierende, Kategorien in meinen hochgeladenen Fotos auflisten zu lassen. --Stepro (talk) 21:53, 18 March 2018 (UTC)

Hello, Achim55, this is MatthewCipolla1. The Gary Plauche picture you flagged is my own work. It is not from the website you think it's from. First of all, I've never heard of this website, probably because I'm an American and that I do not go onto foreign sites that are made from other countries. I have a picture similar to the one from the website, which I never even heard of nor been on. If you could kindly take a look at the picture and compare it to other ones because my file is way different than the website's picture. Please don't jump to conclusions and accuse people of taking other's work because I don't do that. That's not who I am, so instead of being entitled to fly something without evidence, ask the person next time. If you just asked me if the file was copyrighted, then things would have been different. I would have said no and explained it from there and everything would have been fine. Don't accuse someone of violating copyright unless you have clear and better evidence. Remember, Wikipedia is an international site, so not everyone who is on the site is German like you. Again, please don't accuse someone of violating something without evidence. That evidence you gave when you flagged me and my file was not good. It was in fact my own work.

Hi Matthew, en:Gary Plauche reads "The killing occurred on Friday, March 16, 1984, and it was captured on camera by a news television crew." Thus, if you claim own work, you must have been a member of the TV crew of 1984 or your claim is wrong. The video can be seen on www.youtube.com/watch?v=PphLTFFfqKk. Silvn 21, it's not the question of removal of images but of a confirmation that the license is given correctly. Therefore there is a special user right some users own who are allowed to review licenses and confirm them. If somebody doesn't belong to the image reviewer (or administrator) user group he must not tag images as reviewed. There is only one exception: If a tagged image is cropped and uploaded using a different filename, the existing tag can be copied. Simply: That tag is a confirmation a user (Leoboudv or anyone else) has given. If you add such a tag, you say "Leoboudv did review it" and that's not true. --Achim (talk) 19:57, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

Semi protection von Category:Oetzscher Brücke

Danke, dass du obige Kategorie protected hast. Leider wird das alleine nicht viel helfen, da sich die IP (die ständig die open proxies wechselt) einen sehr ausdauernden edit war in so ziemlich allen Kategorien und Bildern, die sich mit Brücken in Sachsen beschäftigen, liefert. Auf der positiven Seite finden wir so sehr viele offene Proxies ... Worauf ich hinauswill: Weitere Admin-Augen auf die entsprechenden Kats würden nicht schaden. Moveonmoving, there are 3 problems, but maybe we can solve them this short way. 1) Usually we have on Wikimedia projects user accounts but no company accounts. Even notable institutions, museums, archives and the like have no accounts here but a so called user in residence who performs edits, uploads and so on. If a user name = a company name it automatically smells like advertising. Solution: Either create a new account using a neutral user name (real name is not required) or rename Moveonmoving to something else using this page. 2) Your images are really good and could be kept, but you published them previously on Flickr where they are licensed All rights reserved. Our policies dont't allow images that are tagged ARR (on Flickr or somewhere else) to be kept. Solution: Go to Flickr and change the license to CC-BY or CC-BY-SA or similar, but don't use NC (no commercial use) nor ND (no derivatives) as both of these types of license are not acceptable here on Commons as well. 3) You said "Please attribute any images to moveON moving with a link to our homepage at https://www.moveonmoving.com/", and that looks like link spam, also the uploaded versions of your images contain a clickable web link inside EXIF data although the Flickr versions do not. That has been the reason I stumbled upon your image uploads. It looks (even if in fact not intended) like a try of increasing the Google ranking via getting incoming web links. What a Waste!

I strongly believe that we should not delete the file you were about to delete. Firstly, it is one of my valuable pictures that i uploaded with hard working and has loads of meaning. Secondly, you must know that the picture is of higher quality than say, something i would not use. Thirdly, the deletion of it is wasting lots and lots of contributions and galleries including my user gallery will not have as many pictures. Bondboy9756, that's no problem. You didn't shoot the photo yourself but, say, improved it. Unter Category:Quatematik finden sich bereits einige seiner Videos. Nun hat er sich unter User:Quatematik einen Benutzeraccount angelegt. Kannst du diesen freischalten, damit er seine Videos nun selbst hochladen kann? Dank dir!

Wo hast du die 1093396 nachgezählt? Dankeschön, eigentlich sollte es passen. Wenn es so ist, dann sollte die Zahl von 2,958,338 (obsolete Tags) im Laufe der nächsten Stunden oder Tage abnehmen, dann wäre ich schon glücklich, denn effektive Anpassungen habe ich in de:wiki kaum noch, alles nur so Einzelseiten, das schafft nichts. De728631, das ist nett von dir. Ich hatte das Template mal auf die Schnelle gemacht, weil ich damals für etliche Bilder (auf Pixabay usw.) Pexels als originale Quelle gefunden hatte. Hallo User:Werbetechnik-dynamic, das Hauptproblem ist (auch deswegen sieht es wie Werbung aus), dass es auf den Wikimedia-Projekten Benutzeraccounts gibt und keine Firmen- oder Institutionsaccounts. Auch die renommiertesten Istitutionen wie Museen, Archive oder meinetwegen die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek haben und bekommen keine eigenen Accounts. Diese Regelung stammt nicht von mir, das ist hier halt so. Das zweite Problem ist dann natürlich, dass - im Gegensatz zu den Wikipedias - hier auf Wikimedia Commons keine Textartikel gelagert werden. Insofern stellen die Benutzerseiten eine gewisse Grauzone dar, die ein Benutzer durchaus zur Vorstellung seiner Person nutzen kann, wenn er möchte. Dahinter steckt ein eher kommunikationstechnischer Gedanke: Weil Commons ein multilinguales Projekt ist, ist es z. B. hilfreich, wenn ein Benutzer angibt, welche Sprachen er spricht.

Wir haben zur Zeit mit einer Schwemme von Spam-Seiten und Spam-Accounts zu tun, die teilweise von Spambots oder auch Botnet-Zombies automatisch angelegt werden, um möglichst viele Links zu plazieren (siehe de:Linkpopularität). Tip request about moving cats

Hi Achim, can you tip me how can i avoid this situation: i moved the Category:Freestyle motocross riders from Australia to Category:Freestyle Motocross riders from Australia (the goal was only renaming) but i don't wanna see: "~Freestyle motocross riders from Australia‎ (empty)" into the new category. Louis, it's gone now. That's a caching delay problem which is solved automatically after some time. You can force the cleanup by a 'Nulledit' of the page that contains the redirect (goto 'edit' and save without having altered anything, no comment). Best, --Achim (talk) 13:54, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

Btw., maybe, rules for deletion of empty categories should be a bit changed IMHO. Meaningful and correctly named categories of relevant items should be never deleted even though they are empty at the moment. However it can be difficult to distinguish them from deserted and mistaken categories. Regrettably, the history of removed content of such categories is not easily trackable by MediaWiki. --ŠJů (talk) 09:48, 9 August 2018 (UTC)

@ŠJů: The rules for speedy deletions have currently been adjusted. Categories can't be speedy deleted just because they are empty. Only bad names (not just renames) can be speedied, other deletions must go through a DR. Sebari – aka Srittau (talk) 13:17, 9 August 2018 (UTC)

ŠJů, I think that requires a closer look: a) An example: I know of users who created empty cat pages for all streets of a big city. If we do so for all big cities we will have millions of empty cats. b) There are users whose pastime is to pattern-create empty cats like (just one example of very many) Category:Number 64087 on objects → Category:Number 64087 on vehicles → Category:Number 64087 on aircraft. c) In general, intersection is a thing that can and should be done by software and not by static data. When one day the mw soft will provide that feature millions of cats will become obsolete. Do we need empty cats like Category:1986 in politics of Sweden that are bulk-created by a few well-known users? Such a software intersection can work for some pure platonic ideas, not for real complex and multi-layered images or records. If we have a 2018 photo of a woman in green 2015 dress who look a 1960 painting of a 1953 red bus, the analysis and encoding of such dates is not just simple. Regrettably, Wikidata failed on much simpler tasks. Btw., to have categories for every street in the city is not excessive, if maybe third or half of them are not empty. Even the empty category can prepare its links to/from other projects, external databeses, navigation templates etc. There can be a trend to import complete official databases of administrative division, local names, adresses, registers etc. to WikiData or similar metaproject of Wikimedia. --ŠJů (talk) 10:43, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

What if there were a flat one and an option to select a special year in case I'd be interested in that? Adam, I apologize for not having commented that edit. Category:Gradient is a disambiguating category. On en:wp there is a Category:Foo (disambiguation) pattern, but that is unusual here on Commons. Disambig categories have to be empty, therefore I reverted your categorisation. The underlying reason is that one can detect badly categorised pages looking at this maintenance category: Category:Non-empty disambiguation categories. Fast identische Bilder

Hallo Achim55, mir sind gerade die beiden Bilder Hauptbahnhof - Duderstädter Straße 4, 37412 Herzberg am Harz, Deutschland - panoramio.jpg und 98279098 Bahnhof Herzberg am Harz.jpg aufgefallen. Es wurden wohl zweimal das gleiche Panoramio-Bild hochgeladen. Der wohl einzige Unterschied ist, dass die Dateigroße unterschiedlich ist. Ich weiß, da ich noch nicht lange hier auf Wikicommons angemeldet ist, noch nicht, was da zu tun ist. Hallo Christian, danke für den Hinweis!. Es ist dieselbe Panoramio-Quelle angegeben, also sind die Fotos wohl identisch. Da trägst du am besten auf dem schlechteren/kleineren der Bilder einen Link auf das größere ein mit {{duplicate|Name der anderen Datei}}. Ich hab das jetzt gemacht, sieh es dir mal auf File:98279098 Bahnhof Herzberg am Harz.jpg unter 'Bearbeiten' an. Umbenennung von Dateien

Mir sind gerade zwei Dateien aufgefallen. Für mich als fast „Leipziger“ ist die Datei Hochhaus, Andreasplatz - panoramio.jpg falsch betitel, weil der gemeinte Platz der Alexis-Schumann-Platz ist und zweites das Gebäude eigentlich zur Schornhorststraße gehört. Wenn ich diesen Bild umbenennen will, dürfte es doch unter das Kriterium 3 fallen, oder? Zudem ist mir mit der Datei Hochhaus Südvorstadt - panoramio.jpg – zeigt das gleiche Hochhaus wie das vorherige Bild – noch ein zweites Bild aufgefallen. Bei diesen Bild könnte der Dateiname unter das zweite Kriterium kommen, weil es auch in anderen Städten Ortsteile mit dem Namen „Südvorstadt“ gibt. Ist das ein wenig zuweit hergeholt oder kann man es so begründen?
Hinweis: Ich würde die beiden Bilder wohl in Hochhaus Schornhorststraße (Leipzig) - 1 und Hochhaus Schornhorststraße (Leipzig) - 2 umbenennen. --MKBler (talk) 16:01, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
