Diese Seite beinhaltet Tutorials und eine Liste empfohlener Software zum Erstellen und Editieren von Medien-Dateien. Wenn du wissen willst wie du Inhalte von Wikimedia Commons abspielen bzw. anschauen kannst, so siehe Media help page. Tutorials für bestimmte Themen

• Bearbeiten von Meta-Daten von Mediendateien wie EXIF. (englisch)
• Videos konvertieren zwischen verschiedenen Formaten, vor allem in das Ogg-Theora-Format, dem einzigen erlaubten Video-Format auf Wikimedia Commons. (englisch)

Allgemeine Software

Diese Software-Pakete werden von der Commons Community zur Bildbearbeitung empfohlen:

• The GIMP, Homepage: www.gimp.org - Hochwertiges Open Source Bildbearbeitungsprogramm. Ähnlich wie Photoshop (kostenlos, Open source - für Linux, Windows, Mac OS X). Windows-Version ist erhältlich bei gimp-win.sourceforge.net. Öffnet und bearbeitet eine Vielzahl an Dateitypen, wie zum Beispiel JPEG, PNG und animierte GIFs.
• Inkscape, Homepage: www.inkscape.org - Programm zum Bearbeiten und Erstellen von Vektorgrafiken. Ähnlich wie Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw (kostenlos, Open source - für Linux, Windows, Mac OS X)
• OpenOffice.org, Homepage: de.openoffice.org - erlaubt alle Dateitypen (inklusive Lesen von SVG) (kostenlos, Open source - für Linux, Windows, Mac OS X)
• ImageMagick, homepage: www.imagemagick.org - Konvertiert Bilder, fügt Effekte hinzu oder dient einfach als Bildbetrachter. Besonders gut geeignet für automatisierte und "bath" Bearbeitungen. (kostenlos, Open source - für Linux, Windows, Mac OS 9 or X und andere)
• IrfanView, Homepage: www.irfanview.com (Freeware - für Microsoft Windows. Ein Multifunktionswerkzeug, unterstützt viele Bildformate. Gut zum Betrachten und Bearbeiten von Bildern.)
• XLS-Chart2JPG Sichert deine Excel charts als JPG mit einem kleinen Makro.
• Zamzar.com bietet ein Offline-Konvertierungsprogramm an. Unterstützt verschiedene Formate, auch Ogg Video und Audio.

Panorama stitching / keystone correction

• Hugin is a cross-platform free/open-source panorama photo stitching program. It can also be used for keystone correction. Examples: Category:Created with Hugin.

JPEG

JPEG is a lossy image format, most image editing software can encode and decode it but it is also possible to perform certain transfomations on a JPEG losslessly.

• Jpegcrop and jpegtran: jpegtran is a command line app that can perform a variety of lossless transformations on JPEG files. Jpegcrop is a command line tool with similar funtionality, there is also a windows version available with GUI.

GIF

GIF should only be used for animations here, the tool list keeps that in mind.

• gifsicle: A command line tool for making, manipulating, and optimizing animated gifs.

PNG

PNG is a lossless format to be used for any kind of diagram that is not available in SVG format.

• OptiPNG: a command line tool for optimising PNG images
• The GIMP (Windows Installers): is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. An open source and high quality image editing tool.

SVG

SVG, or Scalable Vector Graphics, is an XML-based vector graphics format. It can be created and edited by hand as a text file, or edited through a specialized program.

If you use Adobe Illustrator, try to save as a "plain" SVG otherwise Adobe might put a lot of "junk" in your file. This can increase the file size unnecessarily and sometimes causes thumbnails to not render properly. (See bugzilla:2888.)

• Inkscape: An open source, freely downloadable application for graphically editing SVG files. Available on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
• OpenOffice.org, exports SVG but doesn't open then
• Graphviz: An open source application for automatic diagram layout.
• The Commons uses rsvg to render SVG, so you might want to check your file with that program before uploading.
• Firefox 2.0, Konqueror (of KDE) and Opera support SVG natively.
• SVG Validator
• SodiPodi Also for graphically editing SVG files, available on Windows and Linux.

Ogg Vorbis

Vorbis is a lossy audio codec (See en:Vorbis).

• Audacity can export projects in Ogg Vorbis format.
• Shtooka Recorder Shtooka Recorder is a program for windows which allows automated recording of the pronunciations of many words, expressions from a text list. (you can record 500 words in 20 minutes). It can save files in Wav/Ogg/Flac format (including Vorbis Comment tag)

Ogg Theora

Theora is a lossy video codec (see en:Theora). (Note: most software mentioned below should also be able to play ogg vorbis audio)

• ffmpeg2theora is a command line theora encoder available for most operating systems, including Linux, Mac OS, and Windows.

• Videolan Client is an opensource multimedia player also being capable to transcode files but having the advantage of supporting both a GUI as well as the command line; available for most operating systems including Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.
• MPLayer is also an opensource multimedia player also being capable to transcode files but having the advantage of supporting both a GUI as well as the command line; available for most operating systems including Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.
• illiminable DirectShow filter for theora for playing ogg vorbis and theora in Windows Media Player and Winamp.
