Line breaks

Slaunger said at Commons_talk:Valued_images_candidates#Template_problem that there were too many line breaks, but I don't really understand what he means. Superm401 - Talk 01:02, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for not explaining well enough. When only a few arguments is used in this template, it adds a lot of line feed for the unused arguments leading to a lot of empty space underneath the template, see COM:VIC. This is annoying. I understand the origin of the extra linefeeds - they are due to the linefeeds in the template, but when I try to remove the newlines in the template the functionality of the template is broken, and I do not understand why. Dschwen has mentioned something about that it was because a new version of the MediaWiki software had been released... -- Slaunger 04:18, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

On second thought, if we are to iron out that fold we better do it now, as we have a few days now where it is not being used at all. Since this template will be used quite a bit I was thinking of moving it to a new one with another, shorter name. The most compact I could think of would be simply {{VICs}}, but maybe the resemblance with {{VISC}} is too much? Other ideas could be {{VIC-list}} or {{VIC-nominations}} or {{VIC-subpages}}. I thought about that too, however, technically speaking it is actually a table although it appears somewhat like a gallery. But its functional behaviour is certainly as a gallery. Hmm... I guess somewhat should just make a decision and do it. -- Slaunger 04:38, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
